Hey, guys! Welcome to the new chapter of The White Dragon Warlock In The Owl House! I hope that you guys will enjoy it...anyway, I don't own anything else except for my OC's. Also, credit to 9655 for helping me out with the chapter.
NOW LET'S GET ON WITH THE STORY!
The next morning, we see Luz and Charles sound asleep on their beds with King and Volatus lying on their laps, respectively, as Luz moans and slowly opened her eyes. Sitting up, Luz yawns as she stretched out her arms and suddenly went still as she bites her lip worriedly and cautiously looked around the room. Spotting King sleeping on her lap and Charles sleeping on his bed with Volatus, Luz gasped and grew excited as she cheered.
"It wasn't a dream!" Luz cried out excitedly as she stood up from her bed, accidentally knocking King over as she leaped towards Charles and landed on his stomach.
"Agh!" Charles grunted in pain while shooting up from his bed with a startled expression on his face. "W-What's going on?" Charles asked fearfully as an excited Luz suddenly appears in front of his face, causing him to shrink back in surprise as Luz smiled at him from ear to ear.
"Charles! It wasn't a dream! We're living out our dream of living in a fantasy world!"
"That's great, Luz...can I go back to sleep now?"
"Nope!" Luz says while grabbing onto Charles as she drags him over to the window, not noticing a groggy Volatus levitating off of the bed as he waved his tussles at Luz angrily for disturbing his sleep.
"How can you go back to sleep, when there's a whole world out there to explore?" Luz asked a tired Charles while opening the window as she spread out her arms with a big smile on her face. "Good morning, terrifying fantasy world!"
"Good morning." A green, scary-looking, tentacle monster replied as Luz, and a now wide awake Charles blinked slowly as the boy grabbed onto Luz and pulled her back inside as Charles closed the door.
"And good morning, you little cutie-pie," Luz says sweetly to a sleeping King as she grabbed him and kissed him as Charles watched on with a frown, feeling slightly jealous as he shook his head and turned to a tired-looking Volatus.
"Hey, bud, good morning," Charles says as Volatus waved at him weakly with his tussle. "Still tired?" Charles asked as Volatus nodded, and Charles smiled in amusement as he crossed his arms. "Alright, then, go back to sleep, bud," Charles says as a thankful Volatus gave him an appreciative nod and crashed down on the bed as he went back to sleep.
"I am not your cutie-pie!" A now fully awake King shouted as he tried to escape from Luz's hold, but failed as the young teen continued smothering him with kisses.
"Yes, you are," Luz says with a baby-like voice while hugging him tightly against her chest as King sighs in defeat.
"I know," King says grumbly, accepting his fate as Charles chuckled, and King glared at him. "Shut up! Don't you dare laugh at the King of Demons! You're just jealous that I'm getting morning kisses, and you aren't!" King shouted as Charles blushed lightly.
"Alright, alright, boys, that's enough," Luz says with a blush of her own as she placed King back on her bed and walked off to do her morning routine as Charles did the same. After dressing up in their everyday clothes, Charles and Luz made their way to the bathroom, only to stop as they noticed that there was only one bathroom in the entire Owl House.
"Well, this is kind of awkward," Luz says with a laugh as Charles nods.
"Yeah, it is. You can go in first if you want? I can wait." Charles says politely as Luz smiled at him appreciatively.
"Aww, that's sweet of you, Charles," Luz says with a little blush on her face as she entered the bathroom and closed the door as Charles waited outside. Luz hums to herself as she made her way to the toilet and was about to pull her pants down but then stopped as Hooty suddenly came in through the window and smiled at the shocked teen.
"Hi, Luz!" Hooty greeted cheerfully as Luz let out a loud shriek and slapped him just as an alarmed Charles stormed into the bathroom.
"Luz, what's wrong?!" Charles asked worriedly as Luz ran over to hide behind her friend and pointed at Hooty angrily.
"Hooty is being a peeping tom!" Luz shouted as Charles grew angry and glared at Hooty, who flinched from his glare as he gained a nervous look.
"No! You got it all wrong! I was just trying to wish Luz a good morning!"
"In the bathroom?" Charles asked while crossing his arms as Hooty sweated nervously.
"...Maybe, I should just get out of here."
"Yeah, maybe you should," Charles says with a growl as Hooty disappears through the window and Luz sighs in relief.
"Thanks, Charles," Luz says to his friend gratefully as Charles smiled at her.
"You're welcome, Luz."
"Cool, anyway, get out, I got to pee," Luz says while grabbing onto Charles's arm as she gently pushed him outside and closed the door as she went to do her business while also making sure that the windows curtains were closed. Later on, after the teens had done their morning routines, Luz and Charles made their way downstairs as they walked over to a closet and turned to each other with determined glares.
"This is it, Charles. Our first day on the Boiling Isles as Witches and Warlock Apprentices. We can't mess this up." Luz says, looking rather serious for once as Charles nodded solemnly.
"We had wanted to learn magic ever since we were kids and now that the opportunity presented itself, we must show Eda that we're fully dedicated to becoming Witches and Warlocks," Charles says as Luz nods in agreement and reached out to grab the doorknob.
"And the best way to do that is to look the part...please have witchy clothes, please have witchy clothes, please have witchy clothes, please have witchy clothes."
"Please have warlock robes, please have warlock robes, please have warlock robes." Charles pleaded as well as Luz opened the door and the teens gasped as they saw an assortment of Witch robes in front of them.
"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!" Luz squealed excitedly as she and Charles ran into the room, and Luz began to look for a robe about her size while Charles looked around as he spotted something that made him gasp and smile.
"Hey, Luz, look! I found some Warlock robes!" Charles says while pointing at a small box placed on the floor that was filled with Warlock robes and other random junk.
"Huh, weird," Luz says while walking over to him as she tilted her head curiously at the box. "I wonder why Eda has a box filled with Warlock stuff?" Luz asked as Charles shrugged before noticing that there was a label on the box as he read it and deadpans.
"I think this is why." Charles says as Luz reads the label and sweatdrop as it read, 'Discarded shit that my ex-boyfriends left behind in the house after we broke up'.
Anyway, after that fiasco, Luz and Charles stood in front of the stairway expectantly while wearing their new Witch/Warlock apprentice robes along with nametags planted on their chests. The teens waited eagerly for Eda to wake up and begin their new magic training as they heard a toilet flush upstairs and then a tired Eda slowly emerges from the hallway while wearing her nightwear, which consisted of a plum sweater with amber cuffs, a stained long violet nightgown, and light yellow bunny slippers. Charles sweatdropped at her appearance but didn't say anything as Luz smiled at a confused-looking Eda while Charles simply waved at her.
"Good morning, Eda the Owl Lady. I am ready for my first day of Witch Apprenticeship!"
"And I'm ready for some good old Warlock training! So, what spell should we learn first? A fire spell? An ice spell? Ooh, how about how to make magic portals that can teleport me to another place?" Charles asked excitedly as Eda slowly blinked at them.
"...Who are you two again?" Eda asked bluntly while cleaning off spiders and cobwebs from her hair as Luz and Charles stared at her in disbelief.
"C-Come on, Eda, stop joking around, you do remember us...right?" A nervous Charles asked as he and a distraught Luz followed after Eda, who was making her way to the kitchen as she yawned and scratched her head tiredly.
"Hmmm...no." A groggy Eda says as Charles sweatdropped, and Luz ran up to Eda as she gave her new mentor an incredulous look.
"Eda, be serious, how could you not remember us? We freed the oppressed and defeated the evil warden together." Luz says as Eda gave her a blank look. "It was yesterday!" Luz yelled in irritation as Eda winced and held her head with a groan.
"I'm just joking, kids, geez!" Eda screamed with the teens shrinking back in fright as the Witch noticed this and calmed down as she took a deep breath. "S-Sorry about that, I didn't mean to snap. J-Just be quiet for a few minutes. I had a few too many drinks last night, so I kind of have a wicked hangover right now." Eda says while moaning in pain from her hangover as Luz and Charles stared at her in surprise.
"You drink?" The teens asked in shock, not knowing how to feel that their new magical instructor likes to drink as they all walked into the kitchen and Eda made her way to the fridge.
"Yeah, anyway, just sit tight for a bit while I drink my cup of apple blood to nurse this stupid hangover," Eda says while making her way to the fridge as she pulled out a carton filled with apple blood as Luz and Charles faces paled.
"Y-You mean apple juice, right?" Luz asked nervously.
"No," Eda says bluntly while using her magic to levitate a cup over to her as she poured her juice inside and took a sip.
"O-Okay, then." Charles says as he and Luz took a couple of steps back from Eda as King and Volatus walked/flew into the room with the King of Demons jumping onto a high chair as he begins eating his dinner, which was a giant orange goo with eyeballs as Volatus flew over to Charles and rubs against his cheek as if saying 'Good morning' as Charles smiled.
"Good morning to you, too, sleepyhead," Charles says while petting Volatus as Luz turned back over to Eda and gave her an antsy look.
"Come on, Eda, teach us some spells, already! And when do we get our magic staffs? Also, were we supposed to bring our own runes? Ooh! Do you have a dangerous magical quest for us?" Luz says with stars in her eyes as Eda ignored her and took a long sip out of her cup as she sighed contentedly.
"Ahh, there goes the migraine," Eda says to herself before turning over to the teens as she gave them a stern look. "Look, kids, you two need to slow down. Becoming Witches or Warlocks just doesn't happen overnight...also, I can't take you seriously while you're wrapped up in one of my old bathrobes and wearing the dirtiest traffic cone I've ever seen." Eda says with a laugh as a confused Luz took off her hat and blew on it as she was surprised to see that it was an actual traffic cone.
"Ha, ha, ha-Whoa!" King laughed before yelping as Charles pushed his booster seat aside, and King fell down. Eda was amused by the kid's little stunt, but then her eyes widen as she realized what he was wearing.
"Uh, kid, where did you get that outfit?" Eda asked nervously as Charles eyed her confusedly.
"From a small box in your closet, why?" Charles asked as Eda blushed slightly and looked away sheepishly as she coughs.
"W-Well, those were my Ex-Boyfriend's robes. The same robes that they wear whenever they and I...'played' together." Eda says awkwardly as Charles was confused about what she said at first, but then, his eyes widen in realization as he hurriedly took off his robe and threw it away as he shuddered in disgust. "Anyway...you two want a couple of magic staffs, right?" Eda asked as Luz nodded eagerly while Charles nodded weakly, feeling slightly traumatized by what just happened, as Eda smirked and held out her hand.
"Magic staff! Come to me!" Eda shouted as the teens expected the magic staff to come flying into her hand instantly...but nothing happened as Luz and Charles turned to Eda confusedly/disappointedly. "It's coming, it just takes a while sometimes," Eda reassures the teens as Luz and Charles then heard loud crashes coming from the next room, and then Eda's Magic Staff appeared as Eda grinned.
"Ah, see, I told you it takes a while. Now, Magic Staff, fly into my hand!" Eda says as her magic staff flew over to her and, instead of flying into her hand like she wanted, crashed against her head harshly as she grunted in pain. "Ah, son of-mother fucker that hurt!" Eda cursed while crawling her head as the teens gasped from her harsh language, but didn't call her out on it as a grumpy Eda bends down and grabbed her staff as she coughed and gave the teens a serious look.
"Now, Witches and Warlocks are awarded their staffs from school, but with me as your teacher, you two be taking a different approach," Eda says with the teens listening to her tentatively as they watched her poof two bags filled with potions and dropped them in front of the surprised teens. "You two have to work for it."
"Work for it? What does that mean?" Charles asked as Eda smirked.
"I'm glad you ask, Charles. Follow me and bring the bags." Eda instructed while walking out of the kitchen as Luz and Charles grabbed their respective bags and eagerly followed after Eda as they all walked into the living room. "I run a few businesses. On weekends, I offer rare human treasures that Owlbert drags over from your side of the realm." Eda explains while tapping her staff. "But most days I sell only the finest homemade elixirs and potions," Eda says as a curious Luz opened her bag and pulled out a potion as she stared at it confusedly.
"Snake oil?" Luz asked as Eda nodded with a smirk.
"No one wants an un-oiled snake. Anyway, I usually sell these to neighboring Islands that float above the Boiling Isles, but those places might be too intense for a pair of newcomers like you two." Eda says thoughtfully as Luz and Charles raise an eyebrow.
"There are islands floating above the Boiling Isles?" Luz asked with a raised eyebrow.
"What are they like?" Charles asked curiously.
"I will explain about them later," Eda says with a careless wave before grabbing the teens by their shoulders as she dragged them outside on her balcony. "Today, you two will deliver packages and sell potions to that town over there, Bonesborough," Eda says while pointing at a small town up ahead of them with her staff as Luz and Charles couldn't help but be creeped out by the menacing-looking city as Eda bends down and gave the teens a serious look. "Be careful, you two, I have rivals everywhere who'd love to screw over my business and you two along with it," Eda says as Charles gulped in fear.
"That sounds kind of dangerous," Charles says as Eda shrugs.
"It is, but hey, you two wanted a dangerous magical quest, so, whether you like it or not, you two have one," Eda says as Charles looked over at the city nervously. Luz saw this and was quick to comfort her friend as she placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled at him.
"Don't worry, Charles, I know it may be scary, but just know that I will be there by your side and together that city doesn't have a chance against us." Luz says reassuringly as Volatus flew in and placed his tassel on his shoulder as if saying, 'Don't worry, I will be there for you too' as Luz giggled. "And, Volatus as well, I guess. And you still have Steelbite, remember?" Luz asked as Charles beamed.
"Yeah, that's right! I forgot all about Steelbite!" Charles says with a smile as he was about to run back to the house and fetch his sword, but an idea popped into his head as he grinned. "Wait, if Eda can summon her staff, then maybe I can do the same with Steelbite?"
"Ooh, try it, try it!" Luz says excitedly while Eda's face paled.
"Uh, kid, maybe you shouldn't try that until-"
"Steelbite! Come to me!" Charles shouted confidently as he held out his hand and waited expectantly as the group heard loud crashes from inside the house, and Steelbite appeared as it spun through the air like a saw blade. Luz, Charles, and Volatus yelped in fear as they ducked down and Steelbite flew past their heads as it stabbed Eda on her forehead.
"...you have more control over your magic." Eda finished with a sweatdrop, not minding the fact that she was stabbed as Luz stared at her in shock while Charles winced as he gave the young witch an apologetic look.
"Oh, sorry," Charles says sheepishly while grabbing onto his sword as he pulled on it and accidentally ripped out Eda's head from her body as the Witch gave the teen a very deadpanned look. "...I think its best if we just go."
"Yeah, go do that," Eda says irritably as Charles handed her head back over to her body and grabbed his bag as Luz did the same and gave the Witch a determined smile.
"We won't let you down, Eda," Luz says while saluting as she accidentally dropped her bag and it fell off the balcony as the teens panicked, but sighed in relief as Volatus flew down and grabbed the bag of elixirs before it hit the ground.
"Uh-huh, yeah, sure," Eda says blankly while reattaching her head back onto her body as Volatus flew back up and handed the bag back over to a sheepish-looking Luz. Rolling her eyes, Eda spotted King sleeping on the ledge as she turned to him and crossed her arms at him. "I hate to interrupt your power nap, but you have to go with them," Eda says, waking up King as he groaned in annoyance.
"What? But I just found the perfect spot to nap. Why do I have to go?" King asked tiredly while standing up as Eda gave him a pointed look.
"Because you and I both know that the kids are either going to get lost or eaten, probably both."
"Hey!" Luz and Charles shouted in annoyance while boarding Volatus as Eda ignored them and crossed her arms at the annoyed King.
"And while they have Volatus with them, he hasn't been outside in like a decade, so he won't remember his way around the island anymore. The bottom line is you're going, buster." Eda says sternly as King grumbled but nodded as Volatus flew over to him, and King jumped on with a pout as he and the others flew off. "Be back by nightfall or risk mortal peril!" Eda shouted jokingly while waving at them as a grumpy King grabbed onto Volatus tassels and turned them in the direction of Bonesborough as they flew towards it.
After a few peaceful minutes of flying, they have finally arrived at Bonesborough as Volatus flew them down and everyone got off as Luz and Charles glanced around the city in awe.
"Wow!/Whoa!" Luz and Charles said in unison as they eyed the various monsters lingering around the city in fascination.
"Hey, you two, it's rude to stare." King scolded with Voltatus nodding in agreement as the teens blushed embarrassedly.
"Sorry, guys, but can you blame us? We had never been to a place like this before. Unlike you two, this is a new experience for us." Charles says as Luz nods.
"Yeah, I've only seen places like this in my dreams. It's incredible. Are we the only humans here?" A curious Luz asked as King hums thoughtfully.
"Well, there was this old man with six fingers who came here once with another old man who had spikey blue hair and wore a lab coat. Other than them, no other human had ever visited the Boiling Isles," King says as Charles raised an eyebrow.
"Huh, how weird. I wonder why?" Charles says thoughtfully.
"Yeah, I mean, there must be a reason for that, right?" Luz says before gasping as she turned to Charles and beams at him as she grabbed him by his shoulders. "Wait, Charles, I just realized. What if there was a reason that we appeared on the Boiling Isles? What if we, Luz Noceda and Charles Russo, average teenagers living a normal life had...a predetermined path of greatness?!" Luz asked excitedly while shaking him a bit as Charles blinked.
"Path of...greatness?" He asked confusedly as Luz nodded eagerly.
"Yeah, just like Azura and Draconem!" Luz shouted as Charles looks unconvinced, but didn't have time to say anything as King pops up.
"Did Azura and Draconem's path to greatness involve them delivering boil cream?" King asked blankly while holding up an elixir that says 'Boil B Gone' as Luz smirked and placed her hands on her hips.
"Well, King, today we may be delivering packages, but tomorrow we'll be earning the respect of everyone on the Boiling Isles with our magical prowess!" Luz shouted passionately as Charles smiled slightly at her determination, but then frowned as he saw King rolling his eyes.
"Ha! Good luck with that, kid. The Boiling Isles is nothing but a cesspool of despair."
"More like a cesspool of delight." Luz countered optimistically as she looks around and her eyes widen as she spotted a gorgeous male Centaur buying a pumpkin. "Whoa, mama," Luz says with a blush as Charles saw this and frowned, feeling slightly jealous as Luz turned to her friend with an excited smile. "Wish me luck!" Luz says excitedly as she eagerly made her way to the Centaur. Volatus flew over to his friend as he patted him on his shoulder comfortably, and Charles sighed sadly.
"What has four hooves and wants to buy a potion?" Luz asked while walking up the Centaur as she smiled up at him. This guy!" Luz says while looking up at the admittedly tall Centaur, but frowned in confusion as she saw that the Centaur's head had no face.
"My eyes are down here." The Centaur says as Luz looks down and yelps in shock/disgust as she saw that the Centaur's face was planted on his chest.
"Ha, ha, ha!" King laughed with Volatus 'laughing' alongside him as Luz turned to them angrily.
"Shut up!" Luz shouted in embarrassment while blushing as the boys continued laughing. Charles mentally sighed in relief, happy that Luz no longer found the Centaur attractive, but still gave her friend a comforting pat on her back as she smiled at him weakly in appreciation.
Later on, we see the group sitting on a sidewalk as Volatus flying above them lazily while King was eating a hot dog as a roughed-up Charles and Luz were sitting beside him with irritated looks on their faces. The group had spent the last hour trying to sell various elixirs to Eda's customers, but every time they showed up at someone's doorsteps, Charles and Luz either get eaten, blasted, yelled at, or worse. To make a long story short, the teens were not happy with their new jobs at all.
"Ah, I know I've had enough delight for one day." A satisfied King says while patting his bloated stomach as Charles gave him a mild glare.
"Well, I'm glad you're having fun. Oh, and thank you so much for helping us today." Charles says sarcastically, still miffed with the fact that only Volatus helped him and Luz out with the crazy customers while King sat on the back and did nothing to save them.
"You're welcome," King says cheerfully, not catching his sarcasm as Luz sighed and stood up.
"Well, so far, this trip was a bust. I thought being the only humans here will make us special, but apparently, it just makes everyone wants to scream at us or try to eat us! Sometimes both!" Luz screamed in frustration as Charles eyed her worriedly and stood up as he gave her a comforting hug.
"Hey, calm down, I feel just as frustrated as you are about our situation, but getting angry won't get us anywhere," Charles says as Luz sighed heavily and nodded as she leans against his chest and pulls out her Azura and Draconem book.
"I know, Charles, but at this point, Azura and Draconem would've already been sent on an enchanted quest," Luz says while showing the boys the page where Azura and Draconem were sent to their first magical mission as Luz gave the group an irritated look. "Where's our quest-granting Wizard?" Luz asked before her eyes widen as she and Charles noticed how close they were, and quickly separated as they blushed heavily as Charles coughed awkwardly.
"W-Well, to make you feel better, Azura and Draconme didn't receive their first quest immediately, so maybe someday, a Wizard will come in and grant us our first quest," Charles says, trying to cheer up his friend as Luz smiled at him softly.
"Yeah, sorry to break it to you, kids, but no one here is that well-dressed," King says as Luz pouted, and Charles glared at him as Volatus flew in and smacked him in the back of his with his tassel. "Ow! What was that for?" An annoyed King asked Volatus, who crossed his arms and gave him a 'You know what you did' look as Luz sighed.
"This has been a rough day," Luz says tiredly while grabbing her bag as she walked away, and the boys quickly caught up to her with Charles grabbing his bag as they walked into a dark alley. "Let's just deliver these last packages to this guy and go home. Maybe this world isn't what I thought it wa-" Luz says before she and Charles gasped as they saw a huge, beautiful castle placed in front of them.
"Now this is more like it! See? I told you that all you had to do is wait." Charles says to Luz with a smile as she nodded excitedly and they both ran up to the castle as Luz rang the doorbell, and they waited patiently for someone to answer the door. Volatus flew above the teens as he tilted his 'head' curiously at the castle and stared at the giant building for a few seconds before recoiling as he felt dark magic coming from inside the castle.
"Huh? What's wrong, bud?" Charles asked, noticing how shaken up his magic carpet looks as a frightened Volatus turned to him and pointed at the castle as he shook his 'head'. "You don't want us to go in there? But we have to deliver this package to Eda's client, remember?" Charles says while showing him the bag as King stared at the castle and frowned as he crossed his arms.
"I'm going to have to agree with Volatus here. There's something suspicious about this place. Plus, big houses always belong to big whackjobs. Let's just kick the package inside and get outta here." King says just as the doors were opened as Charles and Luz walked inside. "Hey, wait!" King shouted as he and Volatus ran/flew inside and yelped as the doors behind them were closed. "I have a bad feeling about this, Volatus," King says to a scared Volatus, who nodded as they ventured further into the castle to follow after the teens.
"Uh, h-hello?" Luz called out while she and the group entered a dark room as they all looked around confusedly/warily.
"W-We're delivering packages from Miss Eda, the Owl Lady...anyway one here?" Charles called out nervously as the lights were suddenly turned on and the teens gasped in wonder as they realized that they were standing in a large library with a man standing on a balcony as he looked down at the group with a calm smile on his face. The man is a 400-year-old Wizard with a bald head, purple eyes, a long white mustache/beard, tan skin, pointy ears, and his outfit consists of a purple Wizard robe with starts planted on it, a purple Wizard's hat, a pair of small glasses, and pink sandals. His name is Adegast.
"Today just got good!" Luz says with an excited squeal as Charles smiled at her but then gasped as he looked up at the Wizard and couldn't help but to feel that there was something...off with him.
"Huh, weird, why am I sensing a feeling of dread when I look at him?" Charles asked himself mentally in confusion as Adegast slowly made his way to the group.
"Weird old man in jim-jams," King says bluntly, unimpressed with the Wizard as Volatus flew over to the teens and made sure to keep an eye out for them protectively as, like Charles, he feels something off with the Wizard.
"Sorry, I was late, I was in my oscillarium reading the stars," Adegast explains as he spotted Luz staring at him excitedly/expectantly as he smiles at her warmly, but then raised an eyebrow as he saw Charles staring at him suspiciously. "Why is this kid staring at me like that? Wait, does he know?" Adegast asked himself panickily before shaking his head at the ridiculous thought as he gave the teens a soft smile. "And, who might you two be with eyes full of curiosity?" Adegast asked while stroking his beard as Luz grew nervous while Charles crossed his arms.
"Uh, I-I'm-"
"Young lady, young man dareth, I say, I sense something...unique about you two." Adegast interrupted while looking over them curiously as Luz's eyes widen in surprise, and Charles raised an eyebrow at him weirdly as Adehast winked at them. "Please, won't you join me for tea?" Adegast asked while using his magic to conjure three chairs and a table filled with tea and cookies.
"Okay!/Yeah, sure." Luz and Charles said in unison as they were about to join the old Wizard to have some tea, but were stopped by a worried Volatus and an irritated King.
"Let's scram! Wizards are just old people with glitter in their pockets." King says just as Adeghast pulls out glitter from one of his pockets as Charles blinked at that, but didn't say anything as King leans in closer to them. "I don't trust him," King whispers as Volatus nods in agreement.
"But guys, the stars on his robe are sparkling! And look! There's a baby fox in his beard!" Luz says while pointing at Adegast as there was, in fact, a baby fox sleeping on his beard.
"...Okay, that's weird," Charles says with a weirded-out expression on his face as Luz spotted something on the table and smirked slyly as she turned to King.
"Plus, I see scones on the table." She says as King beams.
"Where!?" King asked energetically as Luz pointed at the table, and King quickly ran over to it like an excited dog as Volatus 'facepalmed', and the teens made their way to Adeghast with Charles eyeing the Wizard skeptically as he sat down on a chair and Luz sat beside him.
"We loved to join you for tea," Luz says to Adegast as she began drinking some tea while Charles ate a few scones. A worried Volatus watched over them from the background as he 'glared' suspiciously at Adegast, who noticed this as he glared back at him as if saying 'Back off!' and Volatus jumped back in surprise.
"What was that?" Charles asked, puzzled on why the Wizard glared at his Magic Carpet as Charles eyed the old man with a subtle frown.
"So...do you sell potions, Sir Wizard?" Luz asked while pointing at the shelf containing various potions.
"Please, call me Adegast, Maám. And, yes, I run a small business."
"Huh, kind of like Eda," Charles says as Adegast flinched, but otherwise didn't say anything as King popped up.
"You should run a small business of more scones into my mouth! Ha, ha, yes!" King cheered while waving an empty plate of scones as Adegast ignored him and turned over to the teens curiously.
"I'm surprised to see you two here. It was my understanding that Eda delivered the packages herself."
"Well, we're kinda, sorta, her apprentices," Luz says sheepishly as Charles nods.
"Yeah, we're working for her in exchange for her to teach us how to use magic," Charles explains as Adegast nods.
"I see, so how are you dining the experience so far?" Adegast asked as Luz's happy mood dropped and sighed heavily as she placed her tea down.
"Can I be honest, Mr. Adegast? When Charles and I decided to stay in this magical world, I thought we were meant for something special. But Eda thinks were meant for chores and I'm afraid that we have come to the wrong place." Luz says honestly with Charles looking at her sympathetically as Adegast nodded and smirked as he stood up.
"Well, kids, what do you say that I can give you two what you really want. A real quest-"
"A quest!?" Luz asked expectantly while standing up as Adegast smiled amusedly.
"You didn't let me finish. I have a question."
"Oh," Luz says sheepishly as Charles stood up, and Adegast smiled at them widely.
"Would you two like to go on a quest?!"
"YES!" Luz cried out in excitement as Charles crossed his arms, but didn't say anything as Adegast noticed this and frowned in annoyance before putting a fake smile as he reached into his beard and pulled out a scroll.
"I might have just the thing," Adegast says as he opened the scrolls, and it showed a map of the Boiling Isles. "The prophecy speaks of a couple of humans, a boy, and a girl, who will claim the Celestial Staff and free this world from an ancient evil. Perhaps you two have come here for a reason."
"Perhaps we have," Luz says with a smirk while placing her arm around Charles's shoulders as the teen reluctantly nodded with an unsure smile.
"Should you two believe yourselves to be worthy to attempt this quest-"
"We are so ready, dude," Luz says.
"...you two need to know that the road is dark and perilous-"
"Love peril. Big fan of peril." Luz says as Charles nod weakly, and Adegast handed Luz the scroll.
"And only the Chosen Ones can pull the staff from its post." He says as Luz's eyes widen in awe.
"Chose Ones," Luz asked while looking down at the scroll in shock as a bored King popped in.
"Big story, awesome. Anyway, your food is gone, and we are too." King says with an eager Volatus waiting for the group to board him as the teens nod.
"Yes, we have to go back to...and pack for this enchanted quest!" Luz shouted determinedly while pumping her fist in the air. "Right, Charles?"
"Uh, yeah, sure," Charles says uneasily, but Luz didn't notice this as she was too excited by their new quest.
"Wonderful!" The Wizard says while clapping his hands in happiness, but mentally he was chuckling evilly at how gullible the teens are as Charles continued staring at him suspiciously before boarding on Volatus with the others as they flew off.
"So, Charles, what kind of Chosen Ones do you think we should be?" Luz asked her friend excitedly as they were sitting on Charles's bed with King resting on Luz's bed while Volatus was flying around nervously.
"Hmm?" Charles says distractedly while turning to her with a raised eyebrow. "I'm sorry, did you said something, Luz?" Charles asked, too busy thinking about the strange Wizard they encountered earlier to listen to her as Luz raised an eyebrow at him.
"Well, I asked you what type of Chosen Ones do you think we could be? I was thinking I could either be full of optimism and goodness like the Good Witch Azura or be a bad girl with black nail polish and a mysteriously withdrawn attitude like, 'I act like I don't care, but I secretly do'." Luz says, acting like a classic Tsundere as Charles smiled amusedly at her antics while King rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, I think you should go with the first one. 'Bad girl' isn't exactly the first thing that comes into my mind whenever I think about you," Charles says as Luz blushed slightly at what he says before smiling mischievously as she leans over to him coyly.
"Oh, so you think about me a lot, huh?" Luz asked teasingly as Charles blushed lightly, and stuttered to make a response as the Dominican-American girl laughed. "Relax, I'm just playing with you, Charles," Luz says with a giggle as Charles gave her a playful glare.
"Hey, did I just hear a couple of teens flirting?" Eda asked curiously with a grin while walking into the room as the teens blushed at what she said but then raised an eyebrow as they noticed that the young Witch carrying a ripped-out blue monster arm.
"...I'm not even going to ask where you got that," Charles says blankly while pointing at the monster arm as Eda shrugged.
"Yeah, you probably shouldn't," Eda says as Volatus flew over to her frantically and pushed her over to the teens as Eda yelped in surprise and glared at the flying carpet. "Hey, what's wrong with you?" Eda asked, irritated as Volantus pointed at the teens, more specifically the scroll in Luz's hands as Eda raised an eyebrow and placed her hands on her hips. "Alright, King, what's going on that has Volatus all frazzled?"
"Eda, can you please tell Luz and Charles how dumb Wizards are."
"Wizards? Bleh! If there is one thing that I could teach you, kids, is that Wizards are the worst!" Eda says while rolling her eyes in disgust as Luz stared at her in surprise while Charles tilted his head in confusion.
"Really?" Charles asked as Eda nodded.
"Yeah, there's a reason why I'm teaching you how to be a Warlock instead of a Wizard, Charles, is because Wizards are dorks. Never trust a man in casual drapery." Eda says before blinking as she turned to King confusedly. "Wait, why are we talking about Wizards again?" Eda asked as King smirked and chuckled.
"Well, it's because your Wizard client told Luz and Charles that they were the Chosen Ones!" King says in between laughs as Eda's jaw dropped in disbelief/amusement.
"N-No way, Luz and Charles? Them? Really?" Eda asked as King nodded.
"Yeah! He even gave them a map and a bullshit prophecy that he made up!" King says as the young Witch blinks and begins laughing uncontrollably.
"Ha, ha, ha! Oh, my non-existent God! That's priceless! Luz and Charles as the Chosen Ones?! Ha, ha, yeah, right!" Eda says while laughing so hard that she fell on the floor as she and King shared a laugh. Luz and Charles blushed in embarrassment at their actions as Luz looked away sadly, and Charles noticed this as he grew angry and glared at the laughing duo.
"Are you two done?" Charles asked, irritated as they calmed and Eda stood up from the floor as she held out her hand.
"Alright, alright, let me see this map," Eda says as a sheepish Luz handed the map over to her and Eda took a glance at it as she raised an eyebrow and turned to the teens with a smirk.
"You two really didn't think this was real, right?"
"What?!" Luz asked in shock as Eda nodded.
"Yeah, this map is bunk, guys. There's no lake with a Celestial Staff on the Boiling Isles...if it was real, I would've stolen it ages ago." Eda says with a sly grin before noticing Luz frowning in disappointment with Charles trying to comfort her. "Ah, don't worry, Luz. Couple more months here and you two won't look like such a mark." Eda says, trying to cheer Luz up, but it didn't work as Luz still looks quite crestfallen.
"Uh, can you guys give us some privacy?" Charles asked while gesturing at the depressed-looking Luz subtly to Eda, who nodded understandably as she, King, and Volatus walked/flew out of the room as they closed the door behind them. "Hey, Luz, are you okay?" Charles asked Luz, who looks disheartened as she closed her eyes and sighed.
"No. No, I'm not, Charles," Luz says quietly while leaning against the wall as she slowly slides down and opened her eyes as she stared down at the map solemnly. "Maybe they were right, Charles. I was so stupid. How could I thought that we could be the Chosen Ones? We don't have any kind of special destiny. We're just...normal." Luz says miserably as Charles frowned at her worriedly and walked over to her as he gave her a comforting hug. Luz smiled at him softly, feeling slightly better as she and Charles looked down at the scroll and gasped when a ray of sunshine hits the map and it glowed a bit as it revealed a secret message for them.
"The path will only appear to those who are worthy," Luz says in, reading what it says as she and Charles stared at the map in shock and awe, and then the Dominican-American girl gasped in realization as she turned to her friend. "That's why Eda couldn't see it! Because she wasn't worthy! This is a sign, Charles! The quest is real!" Luz says excitedly as Charles nodded numbly.
"Yeah, I guess so," Charles says hesitantly, still having doubts about their quest as Luz beams, but then frowned as she looks down uncertainly.
"But does that mean we really are worthy?" Luz asked as Charles was about to speak up, but then the window suddenly opened as a gust of wind appeared and blew the map out of Luz's scroll as it landed near her book. Before the kids could react to that, another gust of wind appeared as it turned the page and showed an image of Azura and Draconem standing on a hill heroically as the citizens of the kingdom bowed before them in gratitude.
"Well, we will never know unless we try right?" Charles says, deciding to play along with the quest until his suspicions are confirmed as Luz smiled.
"Finally! All that mean-spirited laughter made me sleepy." King says while leaping onto the couch as he was about to take a nap, only to be interrupted by Eda as the Witch walked up to him and crossed her arms.
"Crony, wake up. You said that Wizard was one of my clients, right?" Eda asked as King groaned and opened one of his eyes.
"Yes. Now go away." King says as Eda raised an eyebrow and placed a hand on her chin as she hums thoughtfully.
"I don't know him that well," Eda says while sitting down on the couch as she accidentally sat on top of King, who struggled to escape as Eda narrowed her eyes. "And I don't trust this itch he's scratching on the humans," Eda says as a panicking Volatus flew in and wrapped around Eda's arm as he began pulling on her. "What's the matter with you, rug?" Eda asked while standing up, causing King to take a huge breathe of relief as Volatus pulled her over to Luz and Charles's room and gestured to open the door. Eda raised an eyebrow at him but did what he wanted as she opened the door and saw that it was completely empty with the windows flung open.
"...Shit," Eda says with a tired sigh as she placed a hand on her temple to soothe her incoming headache. "This is why I didn't want to have kids, Volatus. They're too stressful to handle." Eda says to Volatus before walking over to the window as she poked her head out. "Hooty! Where did the little brats go?" Eda asked as Hooty stretched his head over to her and gave her a big smile.
"Hoot, hoot, if you want the answer that you seek, solve my riddle within a week-Ow!" Hootie says before yelping as an impatient Eda punches the wall and manages to crack it as the house shook a bit.
"I don't have time for this, the kids could be in trouble, so tell me where did they go right now or else I will do the same thing again." An angry Eda says while lifting her arm as Hooty panicked.
"Okay, okay! They went into the forest towards Bonesborough!" Hooty says Eda groans.
"Great. Volatus, grab King for me. We need to save those idiot kids before they get themselves killed or whatever." Eda says with a lazy shrug as Volantus nods and flew off as Eda turned around and stared at the sky with a worried look on her face.
With the teens, we see an excited Luz and a wary Charles standing near the city limits of Bonesborough as they were staring at a large forest placed in front of them. The teenagers turned to each other and nodded as Charles gripped the handle of his sword tightly while Luz tightened her hold on her map as they took a deep breath and entered the forest.
"Okay, our first mythical quest," Luz says cheerfully as fog suddenly came in and covered the area. Charles raised an eyebrow at it suspiciously while an oblivious Luz didn't notice the fog as she turned to Charles with a smile and held out her map. "We got our scroll, our youthful optimism, and this guy over here," Luz says while grabbing Charles's sword from out of its sheath as she did some practice swings but lost her balance as she accidentally sliced a group of vines away and fell down.
"Hey, are you alright?" Charles asked worriedly while running up to her as he helped her up to her feet and she nodded.
"Yeah, just lost my balance a bit," Luz says with a sheepish giggle as Charles smiled amusedly before gasping as he pointed ahead and they saw a small village hidden behind the vines as it was filled with cute little cats and dogs, who all wore adorable little costumes as Luz beams and gushed as she ran into the village with Charles following after her.
"So, cute!" Luz squealed while staring at the group of cute little animals standing in front of a fountain with stars in her eyes as the water in the fountain suddenly rippled and a gorgeous teenage boy popped out of the fountain while bulging his huge muscles as he waved his hair back and forth. The boy is 14-years-old with tan skin, brown eyes, long dark blue hair, pointy ears, and a muscular built. His outfit consisted of a sleeveless-teal vest with a black eyepatch, white pants, a red belt, and black boots. He also carried around a giant sword. His name is Nevareth.
"Whoa, mama," Luz says with a big blush on her face as Nevareth looked down at her indifferently and scoffs.
"I see. So you two are the Chosen Ones, huh? The Celestial Staff should've picked me, Nevareth Bladestrife, Teen Prine of Angstmore..." Nevareth trailed off with Luz staring at him lovingly as she sighed dreamily. Charles frowned jealously, noticing his best friend basically drooling at the sight of the new muscly prince as Charles started to think that going on this quest was a bad idea. "...alongside my sister, Princess of Hotness, Attea Bladestrife," Nevarath says as another figure popped out from the fountain, revealing to be a beautiful teenage girl as she winked at him and Charles's eyes widen as he blushed heavily.
Attea Bladestrife is a 15-year-old gorgeous teenage girl with long blonde hair that reaches to her waist, sapphire eyes, pointy ears, an hourglass figure, and flawless Caucasian skin. Her outfit consisted of a long, skintight pink dress that showed off her assets, a small pink crown that seems to be made out of flowers, and pink shoes.
"Hello, young travelers," Attea says calmly, her voice sounding soft and entrancing as she jumped out of the fountain and bowed to them. "Unlike, my brother here, I have faith in the Celestial Staff decision, and I welcome you, heroes, with open arms," Attea says while standing up as she then walked over to Charles and hugged him tightly as Charles's blush intensify and he smiled dumbly.
"Okay, changed my mind. Coming here was a great decision!" Charles thought to himself happily while hugging the princess back as Luz saw this and frowned subtly as she glared at the princess venomously.
"This is where we met the scones-I mean, the Wizard!" King says to Eda and Volatus while leading them through the dark alleyway from earlier as they made it to the end and instead of seeing the beautiful castle from before, the group saw a broken down and filthy remains of a castle. "Whoa! It wasn't like this before!" King says in shock as Volantus trembled in fear and Eda was quick to comfort him as she rubs him.
"I know, Volantus, I don't like this either," Eda says grimly, worried for the kids as she and the boys entered the castle and searched around as they made it to the library. Eda and the boy's eyes widen as they saw hundreds of scrolls, the same one the kids have littered across the ground as Eda picked one up and saw the same message the kids saw earlier as she narrowed her eyes. "I really don't like this." Meanwhile, elsewhere, we see Luz and Charles traveling with their new companions through the forest as royal siblings were telling the teens of their tragic backstory.
"Nevarath, your vengeful backstory is so compelling. And I'm loving your animal sidekick." Luz says while smiling at the little...onion/bat creature flying around them.
"After our village was consumed in flames, my heart has known nothing but vengeance," Nevarath says darkly as Luz frowned at him worriedly and placed a hand on his shoulder comfortably as Nevarath shook her off, but smiled at her slightly as she smiled back.
"What about you, Attea? You don't exactly look vengeful as your brother." Charles says, noticing how cheerful and bubbly she was compared to her angsty brother as Attea smiled at him warmly.
"Oh, I used to be angry and vengeful at the world like my brother, but after meeting up with a wise Wizard, he taught me to let my rage go and I got control of my vengeful side and became a pacifist. Unfortunately, he couldn't change my brother, I suppose." Attea says as Nevarath looks away with a grunt. "But I have to say, I still dearly miss my parents and my people," Attea says while shedding a tear as Charles frowned and wiped away her tear as he smiled at her.
"Don't worry, Attea, I know how it feels to lose a parent. The pain may still live in you for the rest of your life, but you could at least find comfort that they are in a better place now." Charles says reassuringly as Attea smiled softly and hugs him.
"Thanks, Chosen One," Attea says while kissing his cheek as Charles blushed and smiled as Luz frowned at this, but was surprised to see Nevarath suddenly close to her face with a serious look on his face.
"Lady Luz, do you think love can bloom on the battlefield?" He asked passionately as Luz blushed heavily and looks away sheepishly as she giggled. Charles saw this and glared at Nevareth as he suddenly had the urge to punch him, but before he could, the group suddenly jumped in shock as a small, ugly cat, who was named Chris, appeared before them as he was wearing an elf-like costume.
"...Ew," Nevarath says while crossing his arms as the ugly cat smiled at them and started doing a silly little dance.
"Hum-di-diddle, to pass the bridge, you must first solve my riddle."
"A riddle, huh? Alright, lay it on us." Charles says while crossing his arms as Luz nodded determinedly.
"Yeah, hit us, little furry guy!" Luz says as Chris smiled at them and did his little dance again.
"You're quest shall stop if you two fail this game. So tell me, kids, what's my name?" Chris asked as the kids thought carefully until Luz noticed the nametag placed on his chest that reads 'Chris' as she grinned mischievously and nudged Charles, who saw the nametag as he nodded and they turned to Chris.
"Chris." They answered as Chris smiled widely and jumped up and down excitedly.
"That's it! You may all cross the bridge, and please take this, Chosen Ones. It shall help you two on your journey." Chris says while handing a diamond ring over to Luz as he then handed Chris a golden watch.
"Wow, this is amazing. Thank you." Luz says with Charles nodding in agreement as Neverath and Attea suddenly appeared in front of them.
"Do you need a cape, Lady Luz?/ You look cold, Sir Charles. Do you want me to grant you warmth?" Nevarath and Attea both asked worriedly as the teens shook their heads.
"Nah, I think we're-"
"You can use my shirt!" Neverath yelled dramatically while ripping off his shirt, causing Luz to drool at the sight of his six-pack as Neverath placed his shirt over her shoulders.
"You're freezing, darling! Let me warm you up!" Attea says while hugging Charles's arm as Charles blushed in embarrassment, feeling her large breasts squeezing into his arm as he looked away shyly with a small smile on his face.
"Best day ever!" Luz and Charles thought to themselves dreamily as Neverath and Attea smiled at them.
"Three cheers for the Chosen Ones! Hip, hip, hurray! Hip, hip, hurray! Hip, hip, hurray!" Nevarath and Attea cheered as Luz and Charles blushed and smiled at the praise, but deep down inside, Charles couldn't help but feel that there was something still wrong with their little quest.
"Oh, no," Eda says blankly while standing at the small village that Luz and Charles arrived earlier, but instead of the charming and cute little city filled with adorable little dogs and kitties, the village more resembled a ghost town with dirty and ripped dogs/cats puppet littered across the village motionlessly. "Are you sure they came here?" Eda asked King, who sniffed the ground as he nodded.
"Yep! Can't mistake their smell. Luz smells like lemons and young, naive confidence while Charles smells like pineapple and teenage awkwardness." King explains as Volantus flew ahead and made his way to the fountain as he found a dirty cat puppet lying on it. Freaked out by it, Volatus gestured Eda to walk over to him and pointed at the puppet as Eda narrowed her eyes at him.
"Hey! Wake up!" Eda shouted while slapping the puppet as she glared at him. "What have you done with the lovebirds? What's your endgame?" Eda asked as the puppet suddenly sprang into life and slowly turned his head towards creepily.
"To find your pupils and still your wrath, look ahead and follow the path." The cat puppet says while cackling maniacally as he suddenly shriveled up and fades away into the dust as his insane cackle could still be heard throughout the village.
"Aaahh! The cat man melted! Volatus! Protect me!" King screamed while leaping onto Volatus's arms as they both trembled in fear.
"Stop acting like a bunch of pansies, guys. You act as if you had never seen someone slowly melt in your arms." Eda says while rolling her eyes as King and Volatus stared at her, deadpanned. "Anyway, this is a trap. They want me to follow Luz and Charles."
"So, what do we do?" King asked while still shaking in Volatus's arms as Eda looks up at the sky thoughtfully.
"Thank you for inviting us to your feast, Queen Nerfelia," Luz says to a female fairy who was wearing a crown and a long white dress as she, Charles, and the royal siblings were still walking through the woods. "All your food was so tiny and cute," Luz says as Nerfelia smiled at her.
"Although, I have to say the steak was a little burnt," Charles says while holding a little piece of steak that looks to be overcooked as he threw it away disgustedly.
"Here's a couple of presents for you, Chosen Ones," Nerfelia says while conjuring a bracelet on Luz's arm and a diamond necklace on Charles's neck.
"Uh, thanks, I guess," Charles says as the fairy queen smiled at him, somewhat crookedly.
"It's my pleasure, anything for the Chosen Ones," Nerfelia says as Charles smiled at first, but then felt the same feeling he got when he first entered Aldeghast's castle as he frowned and looked around confusedly.
"It's that feeling again, what does it mean?" Charles asked himself, puzzled as an oblivious Luz smiled gratefully at their companions.
"Thank you all. All of you have been so kind and thoughtful. I hope this quest never ends!" Luz says cheerfully while holding out her hands as Chris pops in.
"Your quest will soon come to an end for the staff you two seek is around the bend."
"Thanks for ruining the mood, Chris," Luz says grumbly as the royal siblings smiled at them encouragingly.
"Go on, Chosen Ones! The Celestial Staff is yours to use! You two have earned it!" Nevareth says as Luz smiled proudly while Charles raised an eyebrow at what he said.
"Earned it? We have done literally nothing at all throughout this whole trip." Charles thought himself as Attea blew a kiss at them, more specifically at Charles as she winks at him.
"Until we meet again, Charles," Attea says while waving at him as Nevareth did the same to Luz.
"Farewell, Lady Luz," Nevareth says as he, Attea, and the others walked/flew off.
"Ah, isn't this the greatest quest ever, Charles?" Luz asked her friend while turning him as she saw him looking away thoughtfully and raised an eyebrow. "Uh, Charles, are you alright?" Luz asked worriedly as Charles turned to her and shrugged.
"I don't know, ever since we met that Wizard, I can't help but feel...weird around him. I don't know how to explain it. It's like whenever I'm around him, I feel like I'm going to puke. And I had that same feeling ever since we got here. What's going on with me?"
"Hmmm, might be something you ate. Once we go back home, I will ask Eda for some magic pills or something. Don't worry, we'll check this out later." Luz says while giving him a reassuring pat on the back as she walked off and a reluctant Charles followed after her while looking around suspiciously as he could've sworn that he saw something huge and ugly glared at him from the shadows.
A few minutes later, we see Luz and Charles walking through the enchanted forest as they arrived at a small lake and then gasped in shock as they saw the Celestial Staff, which was a long yellow staff with a giant diamond placed at the top, planted on a small podium in the middle of the lake as it was radiating with blue magical energy. The teens stared at it in awe and then yelped as the area around them rumbled and suddenly, the water in the lake subsided to reveal a pathway that leads to the Celestial staff as light shined down on it.
"I knew it! I knew this world wasn't all gloom and doom like Eda and King said!" Luz cried out gleefully while running along the pathway with Charles following after her as he had an uneasy look on his face. "There is wonder here and we did come here for a reason," Luz says as she and Charles reached the staff, and it glowed brightly as Luz beams while Charles starts to look physically sick as he panted slightly and begins to sweat.
"Okay, this is it, the moment of truth. Let's do this, Charles." Luz says as Charles nodded weakly and they reached over to grab the staff as Charles's feeling of dread that he had been feeling earlier intensified, and he yelped as he let go of the staff and took a couple of steps back as he fell down. Luz, who didn't notice her friend's weird reaction, grabbed the staff and blue energy swirled around her and the groaning Charles as Luz pulled it out of the ground and raised it victoriously in the air as she cheered.
"Yes! We are the Chosen Ones! I knew it! I always suspected that there was a reason that nobody understood our wacky antics back at home and now we have concrete proof! Isn't this great, Charles?" Luz asked her friend excitedly before gasping as she saw Charles moaning on the ground as she dropped her staff and ran over to him. "Charles, what's wrong? Speak to me." Luz says worriedly while holding him as he sat up with a groan.
"Ugh, y-yeah, I think I'm okay now," Charles says as Luz sighs in relief, but then her eyes widen as she saw their staff fades away from existence.
"No!" Luz cried out in anguish as the trees and plants around them shriveled up and fade away as the water around dried up until it dissapeared as the air around them suddenly felt cold and the kids shivered in fear as they held on to each other frightenedly. "What's going on!?"
"I know what's going on," Eda says while soaring through the air on Volatus as King was holding onto her waist for dear life as they were flying really fast through the forest. "That guy is no Wizard. He's what you'd call a puppeteer, a demon who specializes in scamming and manipulating people. He's trying to use Luz and Charles to get to me."
"Yeah, and we're flying directly into his trap, hurray," King says sarcastically as Eda glared at him in annoyance.
"If you can think of a better plan, I'd love to hear it," Eda says as King remains silent, and the Witch nods in satisfaction as she looks down at Volatus. "Hurry up, bud, the kids are counting on us," Eda says as Volatus nodded and sped up immensely as they flew across the woods at speeds comparable to a jet. Back with the kids, we see an eerie fog coming in as Charles pulled out his sword and stood in front of Luz protectively as they looked around warily.
"Luz and Charles, the humans." A familiar voice says through the fog as Charles pointed Steelbite in the direction of the voice and the teens were surprised to see Aldegast appearing from the fog as he smiled at them sinisterly. Charles's eyes widen before narrowing his eyes at the Wizard suspiciously as the feeling of dread came back and it was stronger than ever due to Adegast's sudden appearance.
"Magical Wizard?" Luz asked with a raised eyebrow as Adeghast smiled at the teens creepily.
"Your hubris has failed you, Witch and Warlock Apprentices!" Adegast yelled while laughing maniacally as he was suddenly lifted in the air to reveal a giant pink octopus standing behind him as the teens gasped at the sight of him. The creature is a large, light mauve octopus-like monster with yellow teeth, black eyes with yellow iris and black pupils, tentacles, and, strangely enough, two small gray arms. This is Adegast's true form.
"Ugh!" Luz yelped in disgust while backing away as Charles winced.
"Eww! And I thought you were creepy before, but this takes the cake! Not to mention ugly, I mean seriously, you're so ugly that you could be considered modern art!" Charles quipped as Adegast glared at him and lifted his arm as the ground behind the teens split up and demented-versions of the dogs/cats villagers they met earlier popped out of the ground as they swarm around the teens.
"O-Okay, Charles, don't panic. This is just classic Chosen One Biz. We just have to rescue everybody and defeat the final boss." Luz says with a nervous look on her face as Charles turned to her grimly.
"Luz, I have a feeling that this isn't part of the quest. I think we've been duped." Charles says as the fake Adegast suddenly appears in front of them and smirked at them sinisterly.
"He's right! I'm no Wizard and you two aren't Chosen Ones! I tricked you, you fool!" Fake Adegast says as he and real Adegast shared an evil laugh as Luz and Charles stepped back in fear, and Luz then yelped in surprise as her cape wrapped around her body and formed into energy chains while her bracelet and ring transformed into a pair of energy cuffs as they cuffed her.
"W-What?" Luz says in shock as she tried to free herself, but failed as she groaned. "No! Betrayed by own cool accessories!"
"Luz!" Charles shouted concernedly as he was about to run over to her and help free her, but then his diamond necklace magically transformed into an energy shock collar as it sends out volts of electricity through his body. Charles let out a painful scream as he fell on the floor and accidentally dropped his sword as his watch glowed and transformed into a pair of energy cuffs that cuffed him.
"Charles!" Luz screamed worriedly as she grew angry and glared at the smirking Adegast. "Why are you doing this!?"
"Your mentor and her friend have been stealing customers from my potions business for years, but thankfully I didn't have to worry about her friend as she had been taken care of," Adegast says as Charles, who had recovered from the shock, gasped and sits up as he glared at the octopus monster angrily.
"Did you have something to do with her death?" Charles interrogated as Adegast shrugged.
"No, but I wish I did, anyway, with her gone, all I needed to do was to destroy Eda," Adegast says while bringing out every single person that Charles and Luz had met on the quest, revealing them to be his puppets as a frustrated Luz groaned.
"Does everybody have a beef with Eda here?" Luz asked as Adegast's puppets murmured in agreement and the teens sweatdropped as Adegast loomed over them ominously with a bloodlusted grin on his face.
"And you two had lured her right into my trap, all because you wanted to think you were special," Adegast says to Luz, who looks down with a depressed look on her face as Adegast turned to Charles and glared at him. "And you had almost figured out my plan, but thankfully you haven't mastered your senses yet, so you weren't able to pierce together my plan," Adegast says as Charles raises an eyebrow in confusion.
"Master my senses? What does he mean by that?" Charles thought to himself curiously but didn't have much time to think about it as Adegast continued talking.
"And if you were able to hone your senses, I thought ahead and made sure to distract you with the one thing that distracts all hormonal teenage boys...hot girls!" Adegast says while waving around Puppet Attea mockingly as he laughed.
"Damn! Curse my teenage hormones!" Charles scolded himself with a blush as Luz looked up at the giant monster with a fierce glare.
"You may have been able to trick a couple of idiot kids like us, but Eda isn't stupid enough to fall for your trap!"
"Adegast!"
"Oh, crap baskets." Luz and Charles cursed with a wince as they saw Eda and King fly in as they leaped out of Volatus and landed on the floor as they all glared at the giant octopus monster.
"Eda! I have you now!" Adegast shouted as he raised his hand and used his tentacles to grab Eda and King while forgetting about Volatus as the Magic Carpet used the opportunity to fly off and silently made his way over the teens.
"That's right, you have me. Now release Luz and Charles." Eda demanded with a glare.
"I didn't want to be a part of this!" King shouted as Eda gave him a deadpan look while Adegast grinned sinisterly.
"Oh, they can leave if they want to. But I sense that the girl wants a real fantasy." Adegast says as a puppet villager appears in front of Luz and sprays magic gas into her face. Luz closed her eyes and coughed violently as she waved the gas away and slowly opened her eyes as she saw that she was standing in a black void with the cute dog/cat villagers, the royal siblings, Chris, and Nerfelia crowding around her as they smiled at her warmly.
"Stay with us, Luz. Stay with Adegast." Attea says with her voice echoing across the void as Neverath grabbed her hand and gave her a loving look.
"We need you here, Luz. You could be my Chosen One." Nevareth says seductively as Luz blushed heavily and Nerfelia flew over to her.
"You could eat our tiny foods forever," Nerfelia says as Attea walked over to Luz and placed her hand on her shoulder as she gave the young Dominican-American a sympathetic look.
"Luz, why would you want to live in a world where people laugh at you? Judge you just for being different, but with Adegast, you will be accepted. Please, join Adegast." Attea says, her voice sounding sweet and trustworthy as Luz slowly smiled.
"It is beautiful here...and you guys do think I'm special," Luz says, her voice sounding a bit delirious as Neverath and the others closed in on her with hidden evil looks on their faces.
"Luz! No!" Eda shouted while trying to escape from the monster's grip, but failed as she dropped her staff and it rolled over close to a dizzy Luz.
"Luz!" Charles shouted, worried for his friend's safety as he tried to escape from his bonds, but failed as he gritted his teeth in frustration. "Damn it! If only there was a way to escape these things!" Charles says just as Volatus flew in, carrying Steelbite in his tassels as Charles grinned widely. "Volatus, you are the greatest buddy!" Charles praised as Volatus nodded in appreciation before using Charles's sword to cut his binds as the energy cuffs and shock collar dissapeared as Charles stood up and quickly ran over, but stopped as the tentacle puppets hissed at him.
"Damn! No way to get through!" Charles says as he then looked over at Luz and cups his hands around his mouth. "Luz! You have to listen to me! What you're seeing is not real!"
"Huh? Charles?" Luz asked while looking around the black void, but couldn't see her friend as Nevarath suddenly appears in front of her and held out his hand.
"Come with us, Luz." He says as Luz blushed slightly and nodded as she reached over to grab his hand.
"Luz! Stop! You have to believe me, what you're seeing is not real! It's all fake!" Charles shouted as the puppet tentacles grabbed him and hoisted him into the air as he grunted in pain and struggled to break free.
"But Charles, if this isn't real, then the quest wasn't real, and if that wasn't real, then it means...we really aren't special," Luz says solemnly while hugging herself as the puppets closed in on her.
"Look, Luz, I know that your sad that we didn't get a magical destiny or whatever, but remember what Eda said earlier. If we want to learn magic and gain our own magical staffs, then we have to work for it!" Charles shouted as a tentacle appeared, but Charles kicked it away as he looked down at Luz, who had looked up to him as she still looks to be in and out of reality. "We can earn our true magical destiny together, Luz! Won't it be satisfying to tell your Mom that you have tried and succeeded in gaining magic through hard work instead of it being handed down to us on a silver platter?"
"I...I...I think you're right." Luz says with her eyes widening in realization as she looks down in thought. "We don't have to have a magical destiny or a magical quest like Azula and Draconme have. We can make our own destiny and gained our own magic the right way!" Luz says with her mind becoming more clearer as she turned to Neverath and the others and saw that they were really puppets controlled by Adegast as she glared at them.
"I knew you would snap out of it, Luz," Charles says proudly before grunting as the tentacles squeezed his body harder and he glared at it. "Alright, I have enough of this! Steelbite! Come to me!" Charles shouted while holding out his hand as Steelbite levitated off the ground and flew towards Charles as it cut through the tentacles holding Charles and freed him as he began falling down. Volatus reacted quickly as he flew in and caught him as Charles smiled at him gratefully and Steelbite appeared as it flew into his hand safely. "Cool! I can't believe that worked!" Charles says excitedly as Luz grinned up at her friend proudly before spotting Eda's staff as she grabbed and twirled it around as she pointed it at Adegast with a glare.
"I'm a Witches Apprentice! And I'm gonna earn my Magic Staff the hard way!"
"I'm a Warlock's Apprentice! And I'm also going to earn my Magic Staff the hard way!" Charles says while flying near Luz as both teens glared at the nervous-looking octopus monster.
"And you're going to pay for manipulating us, Magic Man," Luz says as Charles pulled out his sword and grips it tightly as he growled. "So, feel our wrath!" Luz shouted as she and Charles let out a battle cry and sprang into action as Luz ran over to Puppet Adegast and whacked him with Eda's staff as he dissapeared in a puff of smoke.
"Aaah!" Adegast screamed in pain as Charles flew over to him and reached the trapped Eda and King as he leaped out of Volatus and used his sword to cut through Adegast's tentacles, freeing them as they landed beside the teens and everyone stood in fighting stances as they charged!
"Come here, Chosen One, I just want to your reward...your eternal reward!" Queen Nerfelia shouted with a maniacal laugh as she flew over to Luz and tried to slice her with her claws. But Luz managed to evade her in time as she twirled Eda's Staff around and then whacked the fake Queen away as Nerfelia dissapeared in a puff of smoke.
"!" Volatus shouted as he flew through the air while expertly dodging all of Adegast tentacle grabs as the Magic Carpet got an idea and 'grinned' as he flew towards the tentacles and began twirling around for a bit as the tentacles followed after him and the tentacles accidentally tied themselves up as Volatus dusts off his tasses in satisfaction.
"Miss me! Miss me!" Eda taunted while dancing around the battlefield as the Puppet cat/cog villagers tried to grab her, but failed every time as Eda did a backflip and landed on the ground as she then did a circle with her hand and conjured a stream of fire that burned the Puppet Villagers alive. "Now, I gotta burn ye." Eda quipped while placing her hands on her hips.
"Hi-yah!" Charles shouted as he sliced Puppet Chris in half before bending down as a tentacle reached out from the fog to grab him and Charles sliced it in half as he kicked the discarded tentacle away.
"Chose One, please, stop this!" Puppet Attea says while flying over to Charles, who stopped to stare at her with a raised eyebrow as Attea smiled at him warmly. "Stop fighting and put down your sword. If you do, I will give you a special rewa-Aah!" Attea says seductively before screaming in pain as an angry Luz appeared behind her and whacked her on the head as Attea disappears into smoke.
"I wanted to do that all day!" Luz says with a victorious smirk just as Neverath appeared as he let out a battle cry and tried to slice Luz's head off, but a pissed off Charles blocked him and pushed him off balance as Charles twirled around and decapitated Neverath's head out of his body as he disappears in a puff of smoke.
"And I wanted to do that all day as well," Charles says with a satisfied grin as the teens stared at each other for a few seconds and blushed as they looked away shyly.
"No time for a cute moment, kids, we got trouble," Eda says, appearing beside them with Volatus as she pointed up and the teens gasped as they saw King struggling to escape from Adegast's grasp as the ugly octopus monster glared at them.
"Back off! Or the dog gets it!" Adegast threatened as King glared at him.
"I am not a-" King says before grunting in pain as Adegast tightened his grip on King's neck.
"Alright, alright, stop! You win!" Charles says, worried for King's safety as he handed Steelbite over to Adegast while Luz handed Eda's staff as well as Luz gave King an apologetic look.
"King, I'm sorry. I should have listened to you and Volatus and never trust that stupid Wizard." Luz says as Charles nods.
"Yeah, sorry, guys." Charles says as Volatus flew over to the teens and placed his tassels on their shoulders as if saying, 'Apology accepted' as they smiled at him.
"Apology accepted, now please, save me!" King shouted fearfully as Charles's head scrambled to come up with a plan to save King as he looked up and noticed that his sword was being held by a tentacle that was hanging behind Adegast as an idea popped into his head, and he turned to his friends.
"Guys, I have a plan," Charles whispered to the gang quietly as he looked up at Eda with a grin. "Remember that little trick I tried to do earlier this morning?" Charles asked as Eda raised an eyebrow confusedly before her eyes widen in realization as she grinned mischievously and nodded as Charles turned back to Adegast and raised his hand.
"Steelbite! Come to me!" Charles shouted as Steelbite instantly shot out of Adegast's grip and raced towards the surprised octopus monster as Steelbite cut through Adegast's head and landed on Charles's hand as Adegast's lifeless body dropped down in front of them and shrunk down into the size of a toy as Adegast's head rolled towards them, and Eda grabbed it as she gave the dead monster a blank look.
"Well, that's the last time I take an outside referral," Eda says before gobbling up Adegast's head in one gulp as she sighed in satisfaction but then frowned as she saw how sad Luz looked. "Oh, did you want some of that? There is more over there." Eda says while pointing at Adegast's headless body as Luz shakes her head.
"No, I'm just confused," Luz says solemnly as Eda smirked.
"Thinking of calling it quits, huh?" Eda asked jokingly, trying to lighten the mood, but it didn't work as Luz sighed and looks around the forest with a disappointed frown on her face.
"This place is nothing like I imagined," Luz says as Charles walked over to the depressed Luz and placed a hand on her shoulder to comfort her as she smiled slightly, but was still sad as Eda saw this and placed her hand on her chin as she begins to think.
"Well, maybe not here, but come with me, I got something to show you two," Eda says while walking off as the teens turned to each other and shrugged as they, Volatus, and King followed after Eda.
A few minutes later, we see Volatus soaring through the air while carrying Eda, King, and a blindfolded Luz and Charles as the Magic Carpet stopped flying and levitated in the air as Eda turned to the kids with a big grin on her face.
"Okay, Humans, you can look now," Eda says as the teens took off their blindfolds and gasp.
"Whoa!/Holy moly!" Luz and Charles both said wide-eyed as they were flying above the Boiling Isles with the sun setting down as Luz and Charles couldn't help but be in awe of its beauty as Eda smirked at their reactions, but then grew serious as she turned to look down at the island and smiled softly.
"Kids, like you, I used to think that there was nothing special with the Boiling Isles, but my old friend showed me that there is beauty in the city, all you have to do is look at it from a different perspective," Eda says with a fond smile on her face as the teens nodded and stared at the city for a few seconds in silence.
"Eda, how did you know that Wizard was lying?" Luz asked Eda, breaking the silence as Charles nodded in agreement with a confused look on his face.
"Yeah, and even though I had my suspicions on him, I was still fooled by him, and yet, you were able to see through him clearly. Why is that?" Charles asked as Eda grew solemn and sighed depressingly as she gave the kids a small frown.
"Look, kids, everyone wants to believe they're 'chosen'. But it's just like you said earlier, Charles, if we all waited around for a prophecy to make us feel special, we'd die waiting. That's why you two need to form your own destiny and not wait around for someone to do it for you. This isn't a fantasy world, kids. In this world, you have to work to get what you want. There are no shortcuts." Eda explains with the kids nodding in understanding as Luz looked up at Eda with a hopeful look on her face.
"Does that mean you'll give us our own magic staffs?" Luz asked with Charles getting excited as Eda shakes her head.
"Not yet, you two are still novices. I mean, you two haven't cast a spell yet." Eda says, causing the teens to frown as the Witch then placed wrapped her arms around them and smiled at them warmly. "But you two are stepping in the right direction. Don't worry, kids, you two will get your own staffs...someday." Eda promised as the kids smiled and nodded as the group continued staring at the city and basked against its beauty as a peaceful silence rang out in this otherwise crazy magical world. Unknown to the group, however, a cloaked figure was watching them from the distance while standing on the knee of a dead titan as he spied on the group through a pair of binoculars and spotted Charles as he grinned.
"Well, well, it seems that you have finally come to the Boiling Isles. I can't wait until we meet each other again. Stay safe, kid." He says before leaping off the dead titan as he walked off.
