Hey, guys! Welcome to the new chapter of The White Dragon Warlock In The Owl House! I hope that you guys will enjoy it...anyway, I don't own anything else except for my OC's.
NOW LET'S GET ON WITH THE STORY!
"And here we have the most fearsome creature in the whole world, the King of Demons." Luz says as we cue over to the Owl House and see the Dominican-American Teenage Girl sitting on top of several stacked large books as Charles floated on top of her while riding on Volantus with a bored look on his face as both teens were currently being 'taught' about the Demon World by King, who was lying on the ground in front of the duo as he was currently trying to tear a ducky sock off his nose. "Facing his natural enemy...the ducky sock!" Luz says with a giggle while recording the event on her phone as King grunted in annoyance before being able to tear the sock into tiny ripped pieces as he then punches and kicks the remains angrily.
"Where are you now, ducky sock?!" King screamed with a glare while still stomping the ripped sock pieces as Charles yawns loudly and laid against a floating Volatus as he leans his head to look down at King with an annoyed look on his face.
"Alright, King, now that you have defeated the evil, powerful ducky sock, do you mind explaining to us on why you called us over?"
"Oh, yeah, right. Hold on." King says while walking over to a table as he climbed up to it and turned over to the teens to give them a serious look as he pointed at an unknown object behind him that was covered by a red, ripped curtain. "Humans Luz and Charles, you two have been so obsessed with trying to learn how to use Witch/Warlock Magic that you haven't learned anything about my kind. Prepare yourself for..." King trails off as he grabbed the curtain and rips it off, revealing a corkboard that was filled with photos of various demons. "Demons 101." King says while putting on a large poofy blue graduation hat as he spins the cord on top of it. "Demons like me are grim tricksters of the twilight, creatures of sulfur and bone."
"And cute little paws." Luz cooed while zooming in on King's little paws with her camera as Charles snorted.
"And has a big ego the size of Canada," Charles added in with a grin as King's eye twitched in annoyance and gave the teenagers a sharp glare.
"Shut up and pay attention to me! Anyway, we live only to create chaos and misery. Our only weaknesses are purified water and passive‐aggressive comments...sometimes." King says while using Luz's pen as a pointer to gesture at the various photos on the corkboard.
"Oh, you guys are sensitive." Luz says with an amused smile as King nodded with a serious, solemn look on his face.
"Even demons have inner demons," King says ominously before reaching up to tear off one of the pictures to reveal a snarling, pink, turtle-like, long-limbed Demon. "The most powerful demon of all is the Snaggleback. He's a‐,"
"Snore!" Charles interrupted while lying his head on his Magic Carpet friend boredly as Luz, however, zoomed in on the picture of the Snaggleback with a big teasing smile on her face as Luz added in some colored filters, followed by several stickers as the teenage girl then snaps a picture of it before looking down on her phone as Luz continued editing the photo.
"Guys, will it really kill you both to pay attention to me! This information could save your life someday!" King yelled in frustration, irritated that the kids weren't taking his teachings seriously as Charles rolled his eyes and scoffed.
"Yeah, maybe if they were real," Charles muttered under his breath as Luz hears this and glared up at him before turning to give King a reassuring look.
"No, no, don't worry, King. We're so paying attention. Look, see, this is my paying attention face." Luz says while putting on her 'Paying Attention' face as King gave her a deadpan look and was about to speak but was interrupted by a flash of lightning that was immediately followed by a thunder rumble as Luz, Charles, Volatus, and King glance out of the window as they saw that it was raining.
"Uh‐oh. Looks like it's gonna rain." King pointed out as Charles nodded while Luz beamed as she stood up from her makeshift seat.
"Oh, I love the rain!" An excited Luz says as she turned around to run towards the door.
"Hey, wait!" King yelled worriedly as Charles raises an eyebrow down at him confusedly before yelping as an alarmed Volatus pushes his friend off of him and causes the black-haired teen to fall down onto the ground with a small groan of pain as the Magic Carpet hurriedly flew after Luz, who reaches the front door as she opened it and walked outside as she spread out her hands and exhales.
"I always love feeling the first few drops in my hair. I bet you do too, little buddy." Luz said warmly while kneeling down to talk to a flower as she smiled down at it, only for her eyes to widen in surprise as a water drop drops down to the flower, making it wither and die immediately as a shocked Luz stood up.
"What the!?" Luz exclaimed in surprise as she looked up and saw several drops of acidic water about to fall down on her, but luckily Volatus flew in and grabbed the squealing teenage girl as he flew her back inside of the house. "What is going on?!"
"Boiling rain!" Eda screamed, running out of the forest as she ran over to the Owl House while trying to cover herself from the acid rain as she made her way inside of her house. "Phew! That was close, but the important thing is that no one was hurt." Eda says with a calm smile as Volatus turned to 'glare' at her and gestured at his back that was covered with small burnt holes from the acid rain. "I meant, no one that can easily be fixed with magic wasn't hurt," Eda says while using her magic to quickly fix up the Magic Carpet as Volatus crossed his tassels in annoyance but didn't say anything, not that he could.
"So, let me get this straight. This place is called the Boiling Isles, and the rain here is called 'Boiling Rain' because it rains acid?" A deadpan, unamused Charles says as we fast forward in time and we see him, Luz, and King, sitting safely on the porch of the Owl House with Eda floating near them on a nervous, reluctant Volatus as the young Witch was currently trying to cast a spell under the small yellow force field that she made to protect her and Volatus.
"Yeah, pretty much," Eda stated back nonchalantly as Charles raised an unimpressed raised eyebrow at this before turning to Luz.
"Man, Luz, the weather here is-,"
"So much fun!" Luz interrupted with stars in her eyes as Charles sweatdropped at his crush-I mean, friend's reaction to finding out that the Boiling Isles has lethally dangerous acid rain. "Man, I love the Boiling Isles! Even the weather here is cool and amazing!"
"Yeah, we don't have weather, Luz. We have plagues, gorenados, shale hail, painbows." Eda says while waving a large ball of light in her hands as her Magic Staff floated beside her and Volatus.
"It's like a rainbow but looking at it turns you inside out," King stated cheerfully as the kids' eyes widened in horror by what he said, and a scared Luz scooted over to hug Charles in fear as the black-haired teen did the same.
"So, until the boiling rain stops, no one is allowed outside tonight," Eda ordered sternly before yelping as Volatus felt a single drop of acid drop on him and squirmed around as Eda nearly lost her balance and almost fell off from the Magic Carpet as the white-haired woman glared down at the Magic Carpet and kicks it gently to stop Volatus from moving around.
"And if the rain doesn't get you, the Snaggleback will," King says with an evil grin while opening his book as he shows them images of the Snaggleback. "They wander the rain, feeding on boiled tourists," King says as the kids shiver in terror...not by what King said, mind you, as they were still thinking about the painbow that turned people inside out.
"Well, whatever the case, this force field spell should protect the house from boiling rains and made‐up demons," Eda says the last part to King teasingly as the small Demon glared at her but didn't say anything as an annoyed Hooty spoke up.
"Hoot! Well, hurry it up with that force field! That rain is getting closer to my precious stucco!" Hooty yelled as Eda rolled her eyes playfully.
"Yeah, yeah, I got it," Eda says while letting go of the light ball as it hovered in mid-air, and the Witch was quick to grab her magic staff as she uses it to snatch the light ball up and twirled around her staff before throwing the light ball into the air as it impacted against her force-field and magically expanded it fifty times its usual size as the Owl House was slowly covered by a huge round orange force field and then shrinks to shape closely around it as Luz and Charles gasped in awe by Eda's showmanship in magic.
"Wow! Now that was cool!" An amazed Charles says as he and Luz stood up from the porch and walked forwards as they were happy to see that they were protected from the acid rain by Eda's force field.
"I know, right?! Someday, I would love to be as cool as Eda the Owl Lady. Magical, sassy, surprisingly foxy for her age." Luz says as Eda heard what she said thanks to her enhanced hearing and couldn't help but smirk smugly as Volatus flew her down to the ground and in front of the group.
"Heh, I can't help but overhear you kids thinking how cool I am, and I can't exactly disagree with that. I'm the whole package, smarts, beauty, and a powerful Witch to match." Eda stated arrogantly while flipping her hair around as Luz smiled up at her gleefully, Charles rolled his eyes playfully, and Volatus and King deadpan as the Demon crossed his arms at his magical friend.
"Oh, really? The whole package, huh? Then tell me why you haven't found a good boyfriend yet?" King asked with a grin as Eda faltered and looks down to glare at her Demon friend.
"Hey, you know what? I'm curious about something. Why do the people here call you 'Eda the Owl Lady' anyway? I mean, your whole house does resemble an owl's nest, and your magic staff is carved in the shape of an owl, but it can't be because of that, right?" A thoughtful Charles asked as Eda got over her anger at King's remark and turned to smirk at the black-haired teen cockily.
"It's because I'm so wise."
"No, it's because she coughs up rat bones." Hooty stated bluntly as Eda dropped her smirk and gave the magic door a flat frown as Volatus gestured something at the kids, trying to tell them the REAL reason why people call her 'The Owl Lady' as Eda saw what he was doing and was quick to slam the Magic Carpet away with her staff as Luz and Charles raised an eyebrow at this suspiciously as the Witch gave them a nervous smile.
"I think it's because she gets distracted by shiny objects," King stated blankly as Eda turned to him with a gasp of shock.
"No, I don't." Eda protested with an offended look on her face as King gave her a bemused look and proceeds to take out Luz's pen as he clicks it and the diamond on top of it glows as Eda gasped loudly and stared at it delightfully as she squealed.
"It sparkles and shimmers! It shines and delights! I must have it for my nest!" Eda screamed with a crazed look on her face as she lunges for the pen, but King puts it behind his back, and Eda crashes on the ground with a yelp of pain.
"Oooh, epic fail," Charles says with a grin as both he and King shared a laugh while a worried yet excited Luz ran over to help Eda get back on her feet.
"You have a nest?! I want a nest! Nest party!"
"Ugh. Casting that stupid force field really took it out of me more than I expected." Eda says while leaning against the house as she rubs her head.
"Uh‐oh. Moving a little slow there, Eda? Age finally catching up to ya?" King asked with a laugh as an irritated Eda proceeds to whack him upside his head with her staff, causing him to yelp in pain as Eda turned around to walk into her house, and Volatus flew after her as Charles was about to make his way into the house as well, but stopped as an excited Luz stopped him by grabbing his hands.
"Charles, dude, this is the perfect opportunity!" Luz exclaims as Charles raised an eyebrow at her confusedly while blushing lightly by the handheld.
"What do you mean by that?" Charles asked as Luz beams and lets go of his hands as both of them walked into the house.
"Well, you see, Charles, we have been stuck in the Boiling Isles for a week now, and Eda hasn't taught us how to use magic at all, even after we asked her numerous times to teach us how to be a Witch and a Warlock, but, since we'll be stuck inside of the house all night due to the Boiling Rain, Eda won't have any excuse to bail on us on teaching us how to cast a spell!" Luz says while squealing cheerfully as Charles blinks in surprise by what she said before grinning as he nodded.
"Yeah, this sounds like the perfect idea, Luz!" Charles says with a smile before frowning as he looks down. "But are you sure it's a good idea to bother Eda right now? She did look weak earlier." Charles said worriedly as Luz scoffed and waved her hand around carelessly.
"Eh, you know how Eda is, Charles. Eda's probably exaggerating her 'pain' to make us feel bad for her and to stop us from bothering her on trying to teach us on how to use magic."
"Hmmm, well, that does sound like something that Eda would do," Charles says admittedly while placing his hand on his chin thoughtfully as Luz nodded and the black-haired hummed doubtfully before eventually growing a small reluctant grin as Charles nodded. "Fine, let's go along with your plan."
"Yes! Let's go!" Luz exclaims as Charles chuckled and nodded as the kids were about to run after Eda but stopped as a somber King spoke up behind them.
"But don't you two wanna finish our lesson? I was gonna let you scratch a demon's tummy...me!" King yells as Luz flinched and gains a guilty look while Charles, however, gave the small Demon a blunt, blank look and crossed his arms at him.
"Yeah, sorry, King, but we don't have time to learn any of your made-up stories or fables. Luz and I decided to stay here to learn real magic, not fake ones." Charles stated firmly before turning around to leave as a crestfallen King pouted and turned over to Luz for support, only to see her giving him a half anxious smile as Luz laughed awkwardly.
"Err, sorry, King. But...magic." Luz explained poorly before running after her friend as King looks visibly frustrated and sad by the kids' refusal to listen to his lessons and took off his hat as he threw it down onto the ground with an angry huff.
"Ugh, what a day." A tired Eda says as we see her making her way towards the couch while walking behind a private screen to snap her fingers, and a bright glow covered her body as Eda stepped out of the privacy screen in her pajamas and the white-haired Witch lets out a loud yawn as she drops her staff and all but jumped onto her couch as Eda sighs and was about to go to sleep...only for a smiling Luz and Charles to appeared as they hovered over her face. "What do you want?" Eda asked irritably as a happy Luz opened up her mouth to speak. "Well, frankly, I don't care because whatever it is that you two lovebirds wanted to ask me is a big fat no," Eda stated bluntly before closing her eyes and turning to her side as the teenagers glared at this in annoyance.
"Ah, come on, Eda! You didn't even let Luz speak! Look, we just came here because we wanted to ask you if you can teach us how to cast a spell since we're going to be stuck here all night due to the Boiling Rain and stuff." Charles explained as Eda groaned and turns around to face the teens as she gave them a flat, semi-angry look.
"I'm not teaching you two magic tonight. I'm sleepy." Eda says, rather childishly, as she pulled up her blankets to cover up her whole body and face from view. "I'm a sleepy little owl, so we will continue our lessons tomorrow."
"But that's what you always say, and we haven't even started on the basics yet!" Luz exclaimed, letting her anger and frustration out a little bit at Eda's insistence on not teaching them how to use magic, even though she promised, as the Witch curiously pokes her head out of the blankets but didn't say anything as a worried Charles reaches out to rub Luz's back, calming her down as the Dominican-American teen took deep breaths and was able to control her anger as Luz gave her a thankful look before turning to Eda. "Please, Eda, please. How can Charles and I supposed to earn our Witch/Warlock's staffs if you refuse to teach us on how to cast spells?" Luz says as Eda sighs heavily and rubs her head to soothe the headache that she was feeling as the Witch then turned to give the teenagers a serious yet tired look.
"Look, kids, I get it. You two want to learn how to use magic, but, quite frankly, I feel really tired, so if you two just be patient enough and wait until tomorrow, I will-,"
"Please, Eda, just do us this small favor. You're the only powerful Witch we know. If anyone can teach us how to use magic, it's you." Charles pleaded as Eda's eyes widened a bit and felt her breath hitch a bit as she saw a brief vision of a certain...someone covering Charles's body before disappearing as Eda frowns subtly and lowered her head as she lets out a loud groan and nodded reluctantly.
"Ugh, fine, fine, I'll teach you two how to use magic, but I will ONLY teach you two how to cast ONE spell EACH. You got that?"
"You have a deal!" Luz and Charles yelled in unison while sharing excited high-fives as Eda felt a wave of weakness wash over her body and groaned as she turned her head and spotted Volatus poking his 'head' out of the corner as the Magic Carpet gave her a stern yet worried look and Eda simply decided to ignore him as she stood up from the couch.
"Alright, kids, if you two want to have a Magic Staff like me, I need you lovebirds to pay close attention to me. Don't make me repeat myself." Eda stated sternly as Luz and Charles were annoyed at being called lovebirds but decided to ignore the remark as the teenagers nodded seriously. "Now, Warlock and Witch's Staffs have power embedded...into them," Eda says while briefly nodding off as she then woke up with a gasp. "Yeah, these objects have magical power fused into them that is fueled by our own magic, and it helped us channel it better and use it more efficiently and faster than casting a spell on our own."
"Oh, so basically these Magic Staffs are fueled by the magic that a Witch or a Warlock gives it in a similar way to how Thor channels his God magic into Mjolnir so that he can be able to use his powers more effectively."
"Exactly!" Luz beamed, agreeing with Charles's analogy, as Eda raised an eyebrow at the teens confusedly but nodded.
"Yeah, sure, whatever. Anyway, before a Witch or a Warlock can earn their Magic Staffs, they must first know how to cast spells on their own. No self-respecting Witch or Warlock should be forced to rely on their Magic Staffs to cast spells. That's just embarrassing and pathetic. Now..." Eda trails off as she throws her staff away casually and tiredly turned around as she tilted her head up and raised her hand. "...tonight, I will be teaching you, Luz, how to use...light magic!" Eda exclaimed while drawing a circle with her finger in the air, which then glows orange as a white light sparks in the center and forms a large ball of light as it descends until its front of an awed Luz's face, where it then swiftly disappears with a flash of light. "And you, Charles, I will be teaching you how to use...fire magic!" Eda screamed while drawing a circle with her finger in front of her face as it glows orange, and Eda took a deep breath before roaring as a big torrent of orange flames shot out of it, impressing Charles as he stood up in awe.
"Yawn! Who needs another boring spell lesson when you could be learning all the fun ways a demon could kill you." King says while holding up a drawing of a demon with giant teeth. "Look how teethy. Bite, bite."
"Shh, King, be quiet. We're busy." Charles chastises as Luz nods while gesturing at him to be silent.
"Yes, King, stop distracting us. We need to focus." Luz says before she and Charles turned back to Eda as King pouted and dropped his painting as a sympathetic Volatus flew over to pat his back.
"Anyway, Humans think magic is made out of thin air, but that's stupid. Everything comes from something. You can't just poof things into existence. Now, let me ask you, kids. Where do you think magic comes from?" Eda asked while placing her hands behind her back as the teenagers hummed softly and thought carefully about what she asked.
"Hmmm, inside our bodies?/Uh, from the heart?" Charles and Luz said in unison as Eda blinked slowly at their answers, honestly not expecting them to get it right as she gave them an impressed look.
"Huh, you two are actually right," Eda says, causing Charles to blink in disbelief while Luz gasps in joy and blushes as both teenagers turned around to share a high-five. "Magic does, in fact, come from the inside the body of a person, specifically it comes from a sac of magic bile attached to a Witch/Warlock's heart," Eda explains while pulling out a diagram of viscera from her hair and showing it to the kids as Luz grimaced.
"Oh, gross!"
"Oh, neat," Charles says calmly while pulling out his phone to take a picture of the diagram as Eda then puts it away.
"Yep, gross. Now, I know you may ask how a Witch and Warlock can properly cast magic, right? Well, it will all depend on the size of the spell circle that you make. The bigger the circle, the more powerful the spell." Eda says as she proceeds to draw two big spell circles in the air, and a huge torrent of orange fire shot out of one of the circles while a large bubble of light bubble appeared out of the other circle as they eventually faded into nonexistence.
"Oh, well, thanks for teaching us that fact, but how can we, little ol' Luz and Charles, do spells if we don't have a magic bilesac?" Luz asked with Charles looking equally as troubled with her question as Eda opened her mouth...before closing it as she hums.
"Huh, you know what? I'm not actually sure."
"What?!" A shocked Charles and Luz asked as Eda nodded nonchalantly.
"Yeah, I mean, I know that Witches and Warlock did magic differently in the past, but I never bothered to figure out how," Eda says with a snort and a laugh as Charles and Luz glared at her deadpannedly as Eda sighed and bends down as she rubbed their hairs affectionately. "Look, don't worry about it, kids. You'll figure it out...and I'm not exactly worried about Charles, by the way." Eda murmured under her breath before standing up as she cracks her back and yawned. "Ugh, I need to lie down," Eda says as she was about to go back to her couch and sleep but stopped as a surprised Luz spoke up.
"That's it? Wait! I need to see you do the circle thingy again. I'll record it on my phone this time." Luz says while pulling out her phone as she started recording an annoyed Eda. "Smile! You're on camera."
"Come on, Eda, just do those two spells one more time. It won't kill you." Charles added in as Eda groaned overdramatically but nodded as she raised her hands.
"Fine. Now, you see, the...spell circle is really key because...because..." Eda says drowsily as she attempts to draw two circles, but they ended up being shaky and uneven as Eda sighs and closed her eyes as the young Witch falls down onto the ground, fully unconscious as she snored.
"Welp, looks like two more spells killed Eda," King says casually as Luz and Charles stared at a knocked-out Eda in shock.
"Holy crap!" A stunned Charles exclaimed as he, Luz, King, and Volatus all ran/flew over to hover above the sleeping Witch as a horrified Luz placed her hands over her mouth.
"Oh, my gosh. My obsession with spells killed Eda! I'm a monster!" Luz screamed while hyperventilating a bit with her panic as Charles sees this and was quick to run over to her as he placed his hands on his shoulders and rubs them to calm her down.
"Whoa, Luz, calm down! Eda is not dead! She's just sleeping, see?" Charles says while pointing at Eda as Luz saw that her chest was rising up and down and was snoring lightly as Luz breathes out in relief and nodded as Volatus flew over to look down at a sleeping Eda worriedly...before growing a thick mark as he saw King slapping Eda's face.
"Bap! Yep. She's out...bap!" King says while slapping Eda's face again as an annoyed Volatus slapped his hand away with his tassels. "What? I was just making sure." King says with an 'innocent' look as Volatus simply crossed his arms at him.
"So, uh, guys? What do we do with Eda?"
"Well, we can't exactly leave her sleeping here now, can we? Let's just take her to her room and let her sleep this off, and hopefully Eda will be okay when she wakes up." Charles says as King nods in agreement while crossing his arms.
"Oh, yeah, don't worry, kids. Eda will be okay and back to full power after she wakes up. She's just exhausted from using her magic a lot or whatever." King says, trying to reassure the kids, even if they were being rude to him earlier and blown him off numerous times, as the teenagers sigh in relief and nod as Volatus flew in and picked up Eda from the ground as Luz and Charles grabbed his tassels and began leading him over to Eda's room with King following after the group.
"Alright, Volatus, place her here," Charles instructed the Magic Carpet as we see the group arriving at Eda's room, and the teenagers were guiding Volatus to place a knocked Eda on her nest bed with a grossed-out Luz tossing away a small animal skull as Volatus gently lays Eda onto her giant nest bed.
"Sorry for pushing you, Miss Eda. Please don't hurt me when you wake up." Luz says with a worried look on her face as Charles places a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry, Luz, I'm sure that Eda won't try to kill us once she wakes up...but if she does, I will have Volatus fly us to safety," Charles added cheekily as Luz giggles and nods as King popped in between them.
"Should I bap her again?" King asked excitedly as Charles and Volatus shakes their heads in exasperation while Luz giggled and rubbed the little Demon's head.
"Just let her rest, you little goober. Come on. Let's go downstairs." Luz says as she, Charles, and Volatus made their way out of Eda's room as a grumbling King was about to follow after them...but stopped as he smacks Eda's face again with a 'Bab!' as he then cackles in delight and runs off.
A few minutes later, we see the group hanging around in the living room as a humming King could be seen lying on the couch and was redrawing a Demon with several mouths as Luz and Charles stood near the couch and were watching the video of a tired Eda trying to perform a spell on Luz's phone that was held by a floating Volatus as the teenagers studied the video closely with serious looks on their faces.
"Alright, I think we have watched this enough times. It's time to see if we will be able to cast our own spells." Luz says with Charles nodding in agreement as the Dominican-American girl then reaches out to grab her phone out of Volatus's tassels and place it down on the table beside them.
"Agreed. How about you start, and let's see if you can cast that light spell?" Charles suggested, knowing that his friend was antsy to start training on using her magic, as an eager Luz nodded and walked forwards as she took a deep breath and narrowed her eyes as Luz stretches out her arm and tries to draw a spell circle...but nothing happened as Luz pouted.
"Aww, it didn't work," Luz says solemnly while looking down in disappointment as Charles walks over to place his hand on her shoulder and give her a reassuring, encouraging smile.
"Hey, don't be sad, Luz. We didn't expect to be able to cast magic in the first place anyway, right?" Charles asked rhetorically with a smile and shrug, trying to cheer up Luz but it didn't work as Charles frowned at this before perking up as an idea popped into his head. "Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I won't be able to cast magic either, remember?" Charles asked rhetorically with a smile and shrug, trying to cheer up Luz, but it didn't work as Charles frowned at this before perking up as an idea popped into his head. "Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I won't be able to cast magic either, remember?" Charles says while stepping forwards as he begins drawing a small spell circle. "I mean, I am human after all, and I lack a magic sac, so there's no way that I will be able to-," Charles says before getting cut off as he was able to create a perfect magic circle, and it glows white as a small torrent of white flames shot out of it and nearly hits a surprised Volatus as Charles's magical fireball impacted against the wall and burned a hole through it as Hooty outside yelped in pain.

"...DIOS MIO!" A shocked, wide-eyed Luz exclaimed while running over to inspect the hands of a stunned Charles as she then glances up at her best friend in shock. "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!? HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!"
"I-I don't know." A stunned Charles says while looking down at his hands in deep shock, not expecting to be able to cast spells so easily as Charles looks down at his chest and taps the place from where his heart resides as he narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.
"Huh, I guess Eda's theory on Charles being able to cast magic is right. Who knew?" A surprised King whispered to Volatus in amazement and disbelief as the Magic Carpet nodded in agreement.
"Try it again!" An urgent Luz insisted as Charles nodded shakily and draws a tiny spell circle in his left hand as it glows white, and the black-haired teen then thrust his arm forward as Charles gasped in disbelief at a small torrent of white flames that shot out from his hand.
"Whoa! This is insane! I can use magic?!" A surprised yet extremely happy Charles exclaims as he then joined his arms together and draws two small spell circles on each of his hands as he thrusted his arms forward and laughed as two streams of hot white fire shot out of his hands. "This is so awesome!"
"Y-Yeah, it's cool, Charles." A slightly apprehensive Luz says as, while she was really angry and frustrated that Charles can cast magic easier than her, the teenage girl didn't want to make her friend feel bad, so she tried to be supportive of him.
"He, he, yeah, this is amazing! I always dreamt of being able to use magic, and here I am casting fire magic!" Charles exclaimed excitedly before stopping as an idea then popped into his head, and he grinned slyly as Charles decided to reenact a certain scene from Avatar the Last Airbender and started by drawing a large spell circle in front of him as Charles then took a deep breath and whirled around as he spread out his arms as the young teen then threw back his head and roared as Charles fired three big torrents of white flames from out of his mouth and hands. "This is so sick!" Charles yelled after stopping his little trick as all of the spell circles slowly faded away into nothingness.
"..." Luz didn't say anything as she felt incredibly jealous of Charles's success in using magic and tries to perform a spell circle again, only to fail as Luz groans in irritation and looks down at her phone as she stared down at the frozen image of a tired Eda casting a spell circle in confusion/anger. "I don't get it! Drawing a circle in the air is literally all Eda does, and Charles was able to cast a spell easily, so why can't I? Grr, why you gotta be so cryptic, Owl Lady?! How can Charles use magic without effort when he's a human, but I can't?!" A dismayed, solemn Luz yelled, getting everyone's attention as they watched the dark brown haired girl fall down to her knees and grip her phone tightly with her hair covering her eyes as Volatus flew over to throw himself onto Luz's body as if giving her a hug as Charles bits her lip and looks down guiltily, feeling bad for unintentionally showing off his magic to his seemingly magicless friend as King gave the teenage girl a sympathetic look and decided to try and cheer her up by grabbing his drawing and leaping off from the couch.
"Hey, Luz? Want to know something cool that might cheer you up? Well, let me introduce to you the most spine‐chilling Demon...Smoochy‐pie the Sweetie Baby!" King screamed while showing a crestfallen Luz his drawing as the young teen saw a rather cute drawing of a fish-like Demon. "He's... Well, he's a lot more threatening than his name implies." King says as Luz smiles softly at his attempt to make her happy but still feels miserable as she sighs heavily and sits down on the ground.
"Thanks for trying to cheer me up, King, but I'm still frustrated that I can't figure out how to perform this spell," Luz says while placing her head on her knees as Charles was quick to walk over to her and sit down beside a somber Luz as he wrapped his arm around her.
"Hey, Luz, don't give up now. I'm pretty sure that you will be able to cast magic eventually. I mean, hey, I didn't think that I will be able to do it, but as you see, I did, and I'm a Human without a Magic Sac. Do you know what that means? That if you work hard enough, you will be able to cast magic as well!" Charles exclaimed as Luz remained silent for a few seconds before growing a smile as she nodded, feeling a little bit better as Luz then gained a more determined look and stood up from the floor as Volatus lets go of her and flew a few feet above her.
"Charles, you're right! I can't give up now! If you can use magic, then so can I!" Luz says as she tries to draw a spell circle but failed as she pouted before humming as Luz placed her hand on her chin thoughtfully. "It seems that I can't do the magic circle thing that you and Eda do. Looks like I have to figure out a different way to cast magic." Luz says as Charles nods while standing up from the floor as a curious King glances up at the teens.
"Hey, why do you two want to learn magic so bad, anyway?" King asked, not understanding why the Human Teenagers wanted to desperately learn magic as Luz and Charles flinched as they glanced at each other to share emotionless looks before they sighed heavily as the teenagers turned to the little Demon with sorrowful expressions flashing on their faces.
"Look, King, Charles, and I were nobodies back home. People made fun of us simply because of our unique interests in the supernatural but learning how to use magic is our chance to be someone that matters, you know?"
"Yeah, if Luz and I become a Witch and a Warlock, people will finally stop bullying us, and everyone will finally appreciate us for our unique quirks."
"A-And, maybe, Charles and I will get more friends at home," Luz says hopefully before sighing somberly as she looks down at King tearfully. "King, can you tell me that you honestly know what it's like to have no one take you seriously?" Luz asks as King stared at the teens with a rather emotionless look on his face as he looks way in deep thought before sighing heavily as King glances back at the Human Teenagers.
"Alright, look, Luz, if I can help you figure out another way on how to cast that spell, could we please finish our lesson?" King pleaded as Luz beamed and nodded enthusiastically.
"Oh, yes, yes! You can teach me about demons all week if you help me learn this spell! I can even have Charles join in on the lessons. Right, Charles?" Luz asked Charles eagerly as the young teen frowned reluctantly but, after seeing his best friend giving him the puppy dog-eyed look, Charles sighed heavily as he nodded.
"Sure," Charles says as Luz squealed happily and hugged him, causing both of them to blush lightly as King rolled his eyes at the teens' obvious love for each other but didn't say anything as King pulled out another piece of paper and begins drawing something on it.
"Anyway, Luz, remember what Eda said earlier about that Witches and Warlocks used to do magic differently back in the old days, right? Well, I have a theory on how people used to cast magic without needing to use Magic Sacs. Every day I notice Eda sneaking drinks of this special elixir, see? Then she always gets a boost of energy, see?" King says while showing Luz and Charles a drawing of Eda drinking some kind of potion and getting a power boost. "I think that's where she gets her powers. And I know where to get some."
"Really?" A hopeful, surprised Luz asked as King nodded.
"Sí," King says as Luz squealed happily and pulls King into a hug as she twirled him around.
"Thank you so much! You're a prince!"
"King. I'm King." King says blankly as Luz blinked.
"Oh, right. Hey, Charles, Volatus, you want to help us steal the potion?"
"Hmm, well, I don't like the idea of stealing from Eda, but hey, if it helps you use magic, then I'm in," Charles says, not really fully agreeing with their plan, but the young teen eventually decided to follow along with the plan due to wanting to help/support his friend in her dream of learning and using magic as Volatus, however, didn't seem to like the idea and shake his head vigorously but the group ignored him as they began making their way upstairs. "Alright, King, sneak in, and steal the potion thing," Charles says to King while arriving at Eda's bedroom door as Luz reaches out to open the door quietly.
"On it," King says with a nod while walking into Eda's room as he looks around and flinched as a flash of lightning goes off outside of her window. After calming himself down, King began making his way through the room while looking around for the weird potion that Eda drinks daily and beamed as the little Demon spotted a bright orange potion lying on Eda's side table with a small tag attached to it as it reads, 'An ELIXIR a Day'.
"Ah, there it is," King says as he steps forwards and yelped as his foot was nearly snagged on a bear trap. "Ha! Nice try!" King exclaimed victoriously as the bear trap suddenly sprang to life and gained a single yellow eye and two little legs as he glared up at King boredly.
"Nah, my heart wasn't in it." The Bear Trap says before waddling away as King rolled his eyes before carrying on with his mission as he scampered up a curtain to reach the tabletop and reaches down to grab the potion as King reads the tag.
"An elixir a day. Wow, cryptic...nyeh." King says with a shrug as he rips off the tag and tucks it under his collar as the little Demon then hopped onto the floor and was about to leave but stopped as King looks between Eda and the potion guiltily, making nervous noises, as he then shakes his head and runs out of the room. "Got it," King says to the group as the teens beamed and nodded as they made their way downstairs with Volatus looking incredibly anxious and scared by what the group is doing as he reluctantly flew after them.
"Here you go, Luz!" King exclaimed cheerfully as we fast forward in time, and cue to the Owl House Kitchen as we see King walking over to the teens, who were sitting near the kitchen table as the little Demon jumped onto it and handed the potion over to Luz as she grabbed it eagerly.
"Wow. I can't believe I'm about to learn magic. Real magic. This is historic." Luz says with an amazed look on her face while looking down at the potion in awe as she opened it and slowly lifts the potion to her mouth as King and Charles watched on curiously/hesitantly as Volatus hugged himself worriedly before growing more determined as the Magic Carpet flew over to slap the potion out of Luz's hands and it shatters against the floor, much to the shock of everyone as the Dominican-American Teen stunned look was slowly replaced with a more angry one as Luz turned to glare up at Volatus.
"¡Volatus! ¡¿Qué demonios te pasa?! ¡Estaba a punto de beber la poción y ganar poderes mágicos! ¡¿Por qué hiciste eso?! (Volatus! What the hell is wrong with you?! I was about to drink the potion and gain magic powers! Why did you do that?!)," Luz screamed, growing so angry that she had reverted back to her native language as she stood up from her chair and looked like she was about to throttle the Magic Carpet but was stopped by Charles as he stood up from his own chair and moved in to step in front of her.
"Whoa, whoa, Luz, calm down! I'm sure that Volatus have a reasonable explanation for this...right?" Charles asked while giving Volatus a glare as the Magic Carpet tried to explain his reasoning by making some gestures, but the teens looked completely lost as they had no idea what the hell he was saying.
"Well, maybe Volatus did the right thing in smashing that potion. Who even needs a light spell when we have tons of lamps?" King asked rhetorically just as the lamps flared brightly before dying out as Luz and Charles gave King blank glares as King groans and rolled his eyes. "Eh, Hooty controls the house lights. He probably just fell asleep."
CRASH!
"Hoot! Hoot!" Hooty hooted in what seemed to be shock and pain as the group gasped in alarm by this.
"Hooty!" Luz screamed with her earlier anger slowly going away and being replaced with worry as she ran out of the kitchen, and King followed after her as Charles was about to do the same but stopped as he turned to glare up at Volatus sternly.
"We will talk about this later, buddy," Charles says before running after his friends as Volatus visibly sagged sadly but then flinched as a loud familiar noise rang out and the Magic Carpet grew nervous as he flew out of the kitchen.
"Hoot, oh, hoot!" Hooty hooted panickedly as Charles, Luz, King, and Volatus arrived in the living room and gasped in surprise and horror as the group saw that the door has been knocked out of its hinges and crashed down onto the floor by some kind of large shadowy beast as she also made a mess of the front door.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing to Hooty! Stop that right now!" Charles screamed while quickly creating a small white circle into the air as the young teen then thrust his fist at it, and a small torrent of white flames flew out of the spell circle as it collided against the shadowy beast and she hissed in pain as the mysterious monster proceeds to turn around and run away with an angry growl.
"Hooty!" Luz yelled as she and the others ran over to the downed, attacked Hooty, and gasped worriedly as they saw that the living door was knocked unconscious and had large scratch marks on him. "Are you in there?" Luz asked worriedly while tapping Hooty's beak a few times as she bits her lip nervously and looked out into the distance as if expecting that the monster would return. "Whatever did this escaped into the rain. What could survive that?" Luz asked as King, who was inspecting the scratch marks left behind by the mysterious beast, gasped in realization and turned to the teens.
"Oh, my gosh, it must be the Snaggleback! It feeds during the rains! It must have stumbled across our house and seen us inside!" King screamed just as a loud howl rang out as the group were quick to run/flew out of the house and spotted the Shadowy Beast jumping through the upper floor window as she disappeared from sight.
"This is terrifying, so why do you look so happy?!" An annoyed Luz asked King, who was squealing in delight as he jumped up and down excitedly.
"Because this could be a lesson for you two! This would be a great way for you kids to see a wild demon up close and personal!" King stated with a smile as Luz scoffed at this in disbelief while placing her hands on her hips as she glared down at King while Charles remained quiet as he glances upwards at where the alleged 'Demon' had run off too before glancing at the forcefield as Charles hums thoughtfully.
"You want us to go toward those creepy sounds? No way!"
"What if Eda gets eaten? She's upstairs and defenseless because you two knocked her out!" King screamed while pointing at a glaring Luz and a distracted Charles accusingly as the Dominican-American Teen sighed heavily and nodded.
"Fine, let's go," Luz says with a reluctant frown on her face as King beams and ran towards the house with Volatus flying after him as Luz was itching to go into the house as well but stopped as she noticed her best friend staring at the forcefield inquisitively. "Hey, Charles, what's wrong?"
"Huh? Oh, nothing is wrong. I was just thinking." Charles says as Luz raised an eyebrow but nodded as the teens turned around and began making their way into the Owl House as Charles took one more suspicious glance at the force-field and narrowed his eyes before he and Luz entered the magical house.
Twenty minutes later, we see the group making their way up the staircase with Volatus wrapped around Charles's shoulders like a cape as we see that Charles, Luz, and King were all dressed up with makeshift battle armors consisting of large tin cans for helmets, pillows for chest armor, and rubber gloves as the group were also smart enough to grab some weapons as Charles was holding a baseball bat, Luz was gripping a hockey stick, and King had...a stuffed bunny doll...anyway, after the trio had geared up, they were all quick to make their way up to the second floor.
"Stay behind me, guys," Charles says while holding out his hand, which had a small Spell Circle on it as there was a small white flam resting on the palm of his hand and cast the room enough light to be able to see, but not enough to alert the Shadowy Beast of their presence.
"Hey, look, Eda's room is open!" Luz whispered-yelled while pointing at Eda's bedroom door, which was wide open as the group shared a nervous look but gulped down their fears as they make their way into the room and gasped as Charles and the others saw that the room was completely empty and the window was shattered as a lighting strike rang out in the background.
"Oh, my gosh! Eda!" Both Luz and Charles screamed in shock and worry as they rushed over to the nest, and their faces paled a bit as they saw that Eda's pillows and covers were shredded up. "No! Slash marks!"
"She got snaggle‐backed!" An alarmed King yelled as Luz whimpered and hugs herself in fear as Charles bit his lip anxiously and turned over to King.
"Look, King, I'm sorry that I was blowing you off earlier, but you're the Demon expert here. Do you have any advice on how to deal with her?"
"Not yet, but I will when I go and get my Demon Book!" King yelled while turning around to run out of the room.
"Wait, King, don't leave!" A worried Luz yells as she runs after him.
"Wait, guys!" Charles screamed while holding out his hand as he didn't want his friends to leave due to the Shadowy Beast being around and cursed as he runs out of the room. "Haven't you both watched any monster movies?! Everyone knows that you're not supposed to separate when a monster is around, or else it will pick us off one by..." Charles says before trailing off as he saw that both Luz and King had disappeared from sight. "Shit." Charles cursed just as the flame in his hand died down due to him losing concentration as the area was once more covered in darkness. "Double shit." Charles cursed again as he tapped the Spell Circle in his hand and created another white flame as the young teen was absolutely shocked to see the growling Shadowy Beast running past him on all fours. "Triple shit!" A now scared Charles exclaimed as he screamed, and his flames died out as Charles proceeds to turn around and ran away as he made his way down a hallway while panting lightly as he ended up tripping against something and fell down on the floor as Charles groaned and sat up from the ground as he turned his head and gasped at the sight of Luz's shoe lying on the floor.
"N-No! Luz!" Charles yelled while crawling over to grab the shoe as he hugged it close to his chest and couldn't help but to feel tears building up his eyes as the Shadowy Beast appeared, and Charles's sadness was slowly replaced with anger and rage as he slowly glared up at the mysterious beast with his eyes glowing a fierce white. "You monster! How dare you kill someone that I love! You will pay for this! Burn!" Charles screamed as he took a deep breath and threw back his head just as a Spell Circle appeared in front of his mouth as Charles roared and a large torrent of white flames shot out of it as the fire spell collided against the Shadowy Beast.
"RAAGHH!" The Shadowy Beast roared in pain as she shrinks back and winced at feeling lickers of small white flames scorching her hide as a glaring Charles stood up from the floor, and his eyes continued glowing brightly as he raised his baseball bat and was about to get some revenge on the Demon for killing his best friend...before gasping getting a good look at the monster as Charles couldn't help but gasp in shock at what he sees. The creature is a 10-feet-tall, owl-like monster with black-colored eyes, long pointed ears, long grey hair with gray hair protruding from her ears, her body is covered in dark teal fur, two dark gray wings, and black feet that resemble a bird's, but the craziest part about the monster is that she resembled a huge owl-like monstrous version of-
"Eda?!" A stunned Charles exclaimed before grinning as he laughed. "Aha! I knew it!" Charles yelled while pumping his fist in victor as Owl Beast (Eda) growled softly and roared as she tried to swipe at Charles, but thankfully, the young teenager was saved by Volatus as he sprung into life and pulled the black-haired teen back just as Owl Beast's long claws narrowly swung past his neck as she ended up striking the ground. "Whoa, thanks for the save, Volatus!" A thankful Charles says as Volatus 'nodded' before grabbing onto his friend as the Magical Carpet flew them down the hallway and the Owl Beast screeched loudly as she chases after them.
"Faster, Volatus, faster!" Charles screamed while turning his head to face the Owl Beast, who was all but bolting down the hallway with a murderous, savage look on her face as the Magic Carpet complied to his friend's demands and flew faster as Volatus was able to momentarily escape the sight of the Owl Beast and an idea popped into his head as the living magical carpet made his way over to a nearby closet and opened it as Volatus tossed Charles inside of it. "Ugh, ow." A groaning Charles says while sitting up from the floor as he rubbed his head and gasped as Volatus slammed the door closed before taking off as he flew down the hallway just as the Owl Beast appeared as she spotted the Magic Carpet turning a corner and disappearing from sight as Monster Eda growled furiously and screeched as she flew after Volatus. "Volatus? Volatus!" Charles screamed worriedly while slamming his fists into the door as he was about to open it but then-
"Charles?!" A familiar voice rang out as Charles gasped and whirled around as he spotted Luz and King hiding inside with him in the closet.
"Luz! King! Your both okay!" Charles exclaimed in relief as he runs over to hug a smiling Luz and King.
"We're glad that your safe too, Charles." Luz says while hugging her best friend as King nodded in agreement and hugged Charles back before the group let go of each other as Charles gave them a concerned look.
"You guys had me worried sick! Where did you two go?"
"Well, when Luz and I made our way to my room to get my Demon Books, we spotted the Shadowy Beast nearby and ran away to hide in this closet," King explains.
"I also tripped and lost my shoe," Luz added in before beaming as she saw Charles holding onto her shoe. "Oh, hey, you found it. Thanks, Charles." Luz says with a smile as Charles smiled back and nodded as he handed over Luz's shoe to her and the young teenager was quick to put it on as Charles spotted a piece of paper on the bottom of Luz's foot.
"Wait, what's this, Luz?" Charles asked while taking off the piece of paper from Luz's foot as the group looks down at it, and King's eyes widened in recognization.
"Wait a minute," King says while grabbing the tag as he pulled out the other tag from out of his collar and joined them together as he reads what it says. "An elixir a day, keeps the curse at bay?" King says confusedly as Charles thought carefully about what he said and gasped in realization as he turned to his friends.
"Guys, I know this may be hard to believe, but I've figured out who the monster is! The monster is not the Snaggleback, it's Eda!"
"What?! That's crazy! There's no way that the monster is Eda! It's impossible!" Luz yelled while shaking her head in disbelief as King, however, seems to be convinced of Charles's statement and raised the tag to show to the teens.
"No, no, I think Charles might have a point. Remember when I said that I see Eda drink from that potion earlier every day? Well, at first, I thought it was a power boost, but it seemed to be an elixer that helps control whatever curse that Eda has."
"Exactly. Besides, if that monster wasn't Eda then how was it able to get into the Owl House? Remember, Eda put up a forcefield to protect us from the acid rain, which means that nothing should be able to penetrate through the forcefield before breaking it down completely." Charles says as Luz opened up her mouth to speak. "And if you try to debunk my theory by saying that the monster would've hidden inside of the house before Eda put up the forcefield, answer me this. Why would the monster not attack us at all throughout the night? It doesn't seem intelligent and it only acted on instinct, so I doubt it's smart enough to stay hidden long enough to attack us when our guard is down." Charles says as Luz closed her mouth and hums worriedly as she looks down and sighs heavily as Luz nods.
"Fine, if your theory is true, then what are we going to do with Monster Eda?"
"Well, first of all, we should find a safer place to hide from her. Volatus is currently distracting her, so I think we have enough time to escape, find another place to group up and come up with a plan to deal with-," Charles says before getting cut off by a familiar white-clawed hand bursting through the closet door and ripping it out of its fingers as Owl Beast pokes her head in with a ripped up, nearly shredded Volatus lying motionlessly on her mouth as Owl Beast slowly turned to the terrified trio and roared at them as Charles and the others screamed.
"Look out!" Charles yelled while tackling Luz and King to the floor as Owl Beast tried to swipe at them but missed as she snarled and stalks close to them as Monster Eda was about to attack again, only for Volatus to suddenly spring to life and rip himself out of Owl Beast's mouth and race towards Charles. He then grabs Charles's arms as the Magic Carpet begins floating him towards the opened window in the closet with Luz and King quickly latching onto Charles's legs as Volatus flew the group out of the closet.
"RAAAGHHHH!" Owl Beast roared in anger as she raced forwards and bursts through the wall, creating a large hole in it as she flew through the air before landing on the ground as Owl Beast growled and stood up straight as she sniffed the air, trying to track down her prey as she looked around. Not knowing that the group were hiding behind a small wall that held Eda's beautiful flowers as a terrified Luz was hugging an equally scared Charles, who was holding an injured Volatus close to his chest as King was laying in Luz's lap, shivering in fear as Owl Beast suddenly stop in her tracks and sniffed the air again before racing towards the wall that the gang were hiding behind as she pokes her head down. It took everything for the group not to scream in fear and run away as a nervous Luz looked around and spotted a small potted plant placed near them as an idea popped into her head, and the dark brown-haired girl reaches out to grab it as she then tossed the potted plant through the door and it shattered inside of the house, alerting Owl Beast of the sound as she growls angrily and chases after it as the gang sighs in relief.
"Man, that was close," Charles says while sighing heavily as the others nodded in agreement, but then they grew worried by the sight of Volatus lying on Charles's lap weakly as the black-haired teen rubbed the magical carpet gently. "Volatus? Are you okay, buddy?"
"Y-You're not dead, are you?" A concerned, scared Luz asked as Volatus didn't say anything, not that he could, and remained still for a few seconds before shakily raising his tassels as Volatus gave his friends a strained thumbs up, signaling that he wasn't dead yet but will be unable to move for a while as Charles and Luz sigh in relief.
"Oh, Volatus, I'm so sorry that this happened to you. We should've tried harder to understand what you were trying to tell us earlier. We didn't know that you were trying to stop us from stealing Eda's elixir. This is all our fault." A remorseful Charles says while hugging Volatus with an equally guilty Luz doing the same thing as King, however, didn't seem to agree with Charles's statement and shakes his head somberly as he sat on the floor.
"No, kids, this isn't your fault, it's mine! I was the one who came up with the idea to steal Eda's elixir, thinking that it was a power boost, when in reality it was supposed to help keep her from transforming into that nightmare creature and endangered our lives because of it! Volatus even had to suffer through extreme injuries just to buy us some time to escape! I'm so sorry, kids!" King apologized while hiding his face with his hands as he started tearing up. "I‐I just wanted you guys to be into demons like you're into magic...I don't have many friends and no one even pays that much attention to me. I thought maybe if I taught you guys about the Demon World, then finally someone would care about creatures like me." King says sadly as Charles and Luz gave the little Demon sympathetic looks before glancing at each other as they had a secret conversation with each other, and they nodded as they turned back to King as Luz pulled out the pen that she lent to King and held it out for the Demon to grab.
"Well, let's finish the lesson."
"Huh?" A surprised King says while turning to the teens as Charles and Luz smiled down at him warmly.
"King, Eda's turned into some kind of Demon thing, and we need someone with great knowledge on Demons to help return her back to normal, so what do you say, Master, want to help out your Demon Apprentices?" Charles asked with a grin as King beamed and squealed excitedly as he nodded while reaching out to grab the pen as King then bends down to the ground and begins drawing a crude image of Owl Beast.
"Alright, let's see. Eda was bigger, covered in feathers, and had giant black eyes...wait, that's it! Demons with black eyes are usually sensitive to light! Quick, Luz, Charles, let's use your human wonder rectangle to blind her!" King exclaimed gleefully before pouting as Charles and Luz frowned at him sadly and shakes their heads.
"We can't. My phone's camera got all busted."
"And I left my phone back in our room," Charles says before perking up as he and Luz bend down to King's eye level. "Wait, what about my Fire Spell? Is it bright enough to blind her?
"Yes and no. Your Fire Spell should be able to blind her, but you don't have enough control over it to blind Eda without burning her alive, so we have to come up with another plan." King says while placing his hand on his chin thoughtfully as an idea popped into his head, and he snapped his fingers as the little Demon turned to Luz. "Hey, what about that Light Spell of yours?" King asked as Luz simply groans and sat on the floor as a disappointed, frustrated look appeared on her face.
"I can't use Magic, remember? You two saw me out there. I can't draw Spell Circles in the air like Eda and Charles can. I'm just...normal." Luz says with tears appearing in her eyes as Charles was quick to reach out his arm and hugs his friend close to him as he rubs her back to calm her down.
"Hey, hey, what did I say earlier? We can't give up hope on you learning how to use Magic. Look, let's just see that video again and see if it can help you on your inability with using Magic." Charles says as Luz sniffled but nodded as Charles brushed away her tears, and his friend gave him a thankful look before pulling out her phone as Luz clicked on the video of a tired Eda trying to create two Spell Circles.
"Fine. Now, you see, the...spell circle is really key because...because..." Eda says drowsily as she attempts to draw two circles, but they ended up being shaky and uneven as the video glitches, and the teens were shocked to see two strange magical patterns formed around the Spell Circles as they gasped.
"There's a pattern in the spell circles!"
"What? Where?" A surprised King says with even Volatus weakly glancing up curiously to see what was going on as Luz placed her phone on the ground and grabbed King's pen as she begins drawing the pattern while glancing at her phone every once in a while to make sure that she draws it perfectly with no mistakes.
"It looks like...this!" Luz says as she finishes drawing the Spell Circle on the ground and taps it with the tip of her pen as the drawing begins glowing yellow and Luz and the others gasped in absolute shock as a small floating ball of light flew out of the Spell Circle, and the Dominican-American teenage girl was quick to cup the glowing ball of light gently in her hands, bringing it to eye level as she stared at it in stunned shock and awe. "It's beautiful." Luz breaths out as Charles nodded in agreement...before his eyes widened in realization as he turned to his friend with a big excited smile on his face.
"Luz, you just did Magic! You can use Magic!"
"I-I can use Magic...I can use Magic...I CAN USE MAGIC! YES! MY DREAMS HAVE FINALLY COME TRUE!" Luz exclaimed with tears of relief and happiness running down her eyes as the young teen leaped over to hug her friend tightly, and Charles was quick to stand them up from the floor as he twirls around Luz with both of them laughing gleefully as Volatus laid on the floor, looking happy for Luz's progress as a smiling, proud, shocked King stood up from the floor.
"Well, now that Luz can use magic, what do we do about Eda?" King asked as Charles stopped twirling around Luz and placed her back on the ground as both teens gave the little Demon a confident smirk.
"Now, we are going to save Eda!" The teenage Humans exclaimed in unison with Charles's arms still wrapped around Luz's body as King sees this and grinned slyly as he pointed at them, and both kids realized that they were holding onto each other quite intimately as Charles and Luz blushed heavily and let go of each other as they laughed nervously. A half an hour later, we see Owl Beast sniffing around in the living room as she pounced on a treasure chest next to the fallen door and ducks her head down, trying to find her elusive preys but didn't have to look for long as a smirking King popped his head out of the doorframe leading to the hallway.
"Hey, Eda. How are you today? Your new fur coat looks stunning but I think you gained a little bit of weight." King says playfully before gulping in fear as a growling Owl Beast slowly turned to him. "Oh, shit!" King screamed while turning around to run away as Owl Beast snarled and chases after the little Demon. "Why did I agree to be the bait?!" King exclaimed in fear and confusion while running down the hallway with Owl Beast running after him as she screeches and lungs for him as a yelping King was able to duck out of the way, and the giant owl-like cursed monster crashed landed on the ground with a groan as Eda sat up from the floor and gasps as she saw Charles and Luz standing above her on Volatus.
"Surprise!" Luz and Charles exclaimed while leaping off Volatus as they grabbed his tassels and fell down from the sky as they fell on top of the startled Owl Beast with a still injured Volatus using his own magical powers to expand and grow bigger as he covered himself all over Eda's body.
"RAAAGGHH!" Owl Beast roared in anger while struggling to escape from the Magic Carpet as the teenage Human got up from the floor, and Luz turned to her friend.
"Help Volatus hold onto Eda while King and I finish drawing the Spell Circle!" Luz exclaimed while pointing at the incomplete large Spell Circle that was drawn on the wall at the end of the hall as Charles nodded.
"Got it," Charles says as Luz and King were quick to run away and finish drawing the Spell Circle while the black-haired teen stayed behind to help out Volatus, who was having a bit of trouble holding onto a struggling Eda as she snarled and unleashed her claws as she was about to slash apart the Magic Carpet again, only for Charles to run in and reaches out his arms to grab Owl Beast's outstretched hand as the magical boy gave his cursed master a pleading look.
"Eda, please, you have to regain your senses! I can't pretend to understand what you're fully going through, but what I do know is that you're stronger than this! You are the strongest person that I know! If anyone can break out of this, it's you, so please, snap out of it!" Charles screamed while struggling to stop Owl Beast from ripping apart Volatus as Monster Eda growled softly before stopping as her eyes widened in shock and recognization.
~[Flashback: 20-Years-Ago]~
"Eda, please, you have to regain your senses!" A beautiful teenage Witch says while cautiously walking over to a younger Eda, who had earlier transformed into her Owl Beast form in the middle of the woods as a younger worried Volatus tried to pull her back, but the Witch simply gestured at him to let her handle this as she continued making her way towards a snarling Monster Eda without fear in her eyes.
The woman is a tall, 15-years-old Witch with sapphire blue eyes, long flowing black hair that reaches down to her waist, pointy ears, a sharp chin, a birthmark of a beautiful and intimidating-looking white/black Chinese dragon with wings as it was in an ouroboros shape and was eating its tail to represent wholeness and unity on her stomach, a tall slender build, tan skin, and her outfit consists of a white long-sleeved robe with white flats. Her name is Fiorella Pulchra, Eda's close best friend and Charles's future mother.
"I can't pretend to understand what you're fully going through, but what I do know is that you're stronger than this! You are the strongest person that I know! If anyone can break out of this, it's you, so please snap out of it!" Fiorella screamed while walking over to place her hand on Owl Beast's head, causing her eyes to widen in shock, and her wide black eyes were replaced with her golden ones as Monster Eda took a glance at Fiorella giving her a warm smile and started tearing up as Owl Beast began slowly changing back into her Witch form.
~[Flashback: 20-Years-Ago]~
"Grrr..." Owl Beast grows softly as her black eyes slowly turned golden and gained pupils as Monster Eda looks down at a concerned Charles and gasped softly as she saw an image of a smiling Fiorella covering Charles's form momentarily before disappearing as Owl Beast stopped struggling and started tearing up as she began calming down a bit and slowly but surely returning back to her normal form.
"Luz! Do it now!" Charles screamed while turning his head to Luz, who was finished drawing a giant light glyph on the wall with King's help as she turned to give a cooing Owl Beast a guilty look.
"I'm sorry, Eda, but it's for your own good!" Luz screamed while slamming her fist into the giant light glyph, activating it as a big yellow glowing Spell Circle appeared, and a huge beam of light shot out of it as it blinded everyone in the room, including a screeching pained Owl Beast as a blinding light occurred.
"Ugh...fuck...my head." A groaning Eda says while lying in her nest in her Witch Form with a straw in her mouth as a confused Eda sat up from the floor and rubs her head before her eyes widened in shock as the Witch saw that she had claws for hands, one of her eyes was completely black, her spherical ring on her chest was colored black, and her hair was covered in feathers. "Ahh!" Eda yelped in surprise at being partially transformed into her Owl Beast form before quickly grabbing the straw that was connected to the elixir placed beside her nest and started drinking from it as Eda morphs back into her normal form. "Ugh, w‐what happened? Oh, I have the worst headache. And my mouth tastes like wool." A disgusted, groaning Eda says before spotting her elixir placed beside her as the Witch reached down to grab the potion. "Oh, hey, I was looking for this."
"Actually, we found an extra one in your closet," King says while walking over to Eda with a now repaired Volatus flying after him as, luckily, Luz was able to fix up the Magic Carpet with a magic thread and needle that King had lying around.
"King? King! Did you steal my elixir? Oh, I oughta break every bone in your‐,"
"Shh! Over there!" King whispers-yells as he and a happy Volatus pointed ahead as a confused Eda looked to where they were pointing...and gasped in absolute shock and awe as she saw Luz and Charles surrounded by balls of light and scorched marks placed on the walls and floor.
"Unbelievable." Eda breathes out in disbelief yet amazed tone as she watched Luz drawing another light glyph on one of the pages of her notebook and taps it with her pen as a small glowing yellow Spell Circle appeared, and a small ball of light shot out of it as it floated up to join the other balls of light. "Absolutely incredible," Eda says with her eyes widened in shock as she saw Charles easily drawing a white Spell Circle in the air with his finger as it glows white, and the black-haired teen then thrust his arm forward as a weak torrent of white flames shot out of the Spell Circle and collided against the wall, scorching it but not damaging it as the teens grinned at this widely and shared a high five as they laughed. "H-How are they doing that?" Eda asked as, although she expected Charles to be able to use magic easily for obvious reasons, the young Witch didn't expect that Luz, of all people, can use Magic.
"I don't know. Charles had it easy compared to Luz, but she was able to figure out how to use Magic all on her own." King says before gaining a guilty look as he turned to a still stunned Eda. "Hey, I, uh, kind of messed a bunch of things up back there and I just wanted to say I'm sorry."
"Well, you better be. I got a long list of disgusting chores with your name on it." An angry Eda says before calming down as she sighs heavily and laid her head on the nest as she gave King and the others a remorseful look. "But it's not entirely your fault," Eda says with Charles and Luz deciding to stop practicing their magic to walk over to the others as Eda begins explaining the origins of her curse. "Look, I haven't been completely honest with you guys. When I was younger, I was cursed. I don't know exactly how it happened. All I know is that if I don't take my elixir... Well, that's why people call me the Owl Lady. No one likes having a curse, but if you take the right steps, it's manageable."
"Whoa. So are you okay?"
"Yeah, is there anything...lethal or concerning with your curse that we should know about?" Charles asked as Eda smiles gently at how worried the teens were for her and raised her arm as she waved off their concerns.
"Ah, there's nothing for you two dump lovebirds to worry about. It's all under control, and as long as no one steals my elixir...King...then I'm fine, but, hey, look at this. Humans doing magic. Good on you, kids." Eda says as the kids beamed at the praise and smiled at her.
"We had some encouragement from a couple of great teachers." Luz and Charles said in unison as Eda and King smiled at the teenagers proudly as they were about to speak up but stopped as a familiar voice rang out.
"Hey, hey! Is anyone there? Hello? Hoot? I'm on the floor. It's cold!" Hooty yelled from downstairs as King and Charles groaned in annoyance.
"That voice. That horrific voice!"
"I know, right?! It's so annoying!" Charles yelled as he and an irritated King began making their way downstairs.
"We'll take care of him. You stay in bed and rest." Luz says to Eda warmly before following after her friends as the young Witch smiles softly and sighs as she lays down and closed her eyes as Eda falls asleep and ended up in the Dreamscape as a confused Dream Eda looks around and realized that she was standing in a black void with a door stationed in front of her as the white-haired woman groaned in annoyance.
"No, not this memory again." A glaring Dream Eda says as indistinct whispering rang out and the door opens to reveal a wavering shadow with two circles of light near the top as the background was pure white. "You! You're the one who cursed me, aren't you? Who are you? Who are you?" Dream Eda asked angrily as Real Eda woke up from her dream and sits up in her nest with a startled, sharp gasp as she looks around and exhales loudly as a tired Eda flops back into her nest just as Volatus appeared as he floated above her with a worried look on his face.
"Don't worry, Rugman, I'm alright. It was just a stupid dream." Eda says as Volatus nodded before crossing his arms as he gave her a pointed look and pointed out the door. "Look, Volatus, I know that I haven't told the kids the full truth but I'm not ready to tell Charles who he really is. I want to give him some time to get used to this world before I drop a bombshell on him and his life changes forever, so let's just leave this be for now." Eda says as Volatus 'frowned' but 'nodded' as he flew out of the room and Eda sighs heavily as she placed her arm over her eyes. "I really hope that Shepard can give me a new shipment of those potions since King used up my last box of elixirs," Eda says with a groan before closing her eyes as she slowly drifted off to sleep.
And done! I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter, and I can't wait to write the next one.
