I don't own Star Wars Rebels
"The next time we meet, I'll rip off that Inquisitor's han
ds, and then I'll shoot the body until it's nothing but dust and ashes", Lasat growled to himself, thinking of what she'd done to Ezra.
Zeb was extremely angry and annoyed. The last time he'd felt such intense emotions, Lasan had been attacked and fallen. If it wasn't for the datapad, where he filled out lists of things he found as he unpacked the box, he would have hit or smashed something. It was all he could do to stop himself from putting down his datapad and going to stretch. Even playing Dejarik with Chopper, who he was almost sure was cheating, was a good alternative.
Lasat exhaled noisily when, almost an hour later, he completely dismantled the box, entered the data into the datapad, and put everything back. The box itself didn't seem too big, but there were a lot of small items in it, so it took longer. But to be fair, the box proved to be a medical station: it contained a lot of bacta patches, bacta sprays, several thermometers, and the like.
So, Zeb got up, stretched a few times, grabbed the datapad, and headed toward the cockpit to hand the tablet to Hera. However, she wasn't there, so he just put it on the Ghost's dashboard before heading to his room to pack up and move in with Kanan.
Remembering Ezra's words about wanting to go to bed, Lasat entered the room rather quietly. The boy was lying on the top bunk, wrapped in a blanket and facing the wall, asleep. Zeb chuckled softly and started to pack his things. Well, it was just a blanket and a pillow, so he quickly took everything and left the cabin.
Zeb dropped his belongings on the top bunk and headed for the cabin company, hoping Chopper would be there somewhere. He could use some entertainment.
"General Syndulla, Jedi Master," Commander Sato greeted as the Twi'lek and Kanan entered the flagship's head center and approached the table in the center of the room.
Only the three of them were around Holoprojector. Ahsoka was still on her journey, where she hoped to find some information about Vader.
"Commander Sato," Hera replied, and the Jedi only nodded patiently.
Kanan respected the command, but he still didn't like the idea of joining a larger rebel cell. He was also distracted by the waves of worry and sadness that came from Hera, so he chose to remain silent.
"So, let's get down to business," Sato said, then pressed a couple of buttons on the panel, activating a hologram of the imperial ship. – This is one of the latest Imperial developments: a relay ship. Thanks to it, the Empire will be able to transmit information faster around the Outer Ring. If it gets mass-produced, it will make it harder for us to get new information. Right now, the ship is a few days away from Lothal, but the repeaters are still down. Upon arrival there, the first tests will be conducted.
"Isn't Lothal under heavy siege?" Hera asked. – If that's the case, then such a mission is practically suicide.
"I fully agree with you, General Syndulla," Commander Sato said. – But last night we received information that the siege was lifted. We don't know why, and we haven't received any information from other cells. But this window is good for us. I'm sending you out as a task force, able to come secretly and leave quickly.
"Our task?" Hera asked.
"The fleet is in dire need of access codes," Sato clarified. – Your number one task is to get us the access codes, there should be enough of them on that ship. Task number two is to disable the ship.
"We understand our mission," the Twi'lek nodded, accepting the floppy disk with the rest of the more detailed information.
"Actually, we have a lot to report ourselves," Kanan said, stepping forward. "Phantom went to an abandoned medical station this morning. Two new Inquisitors were discovered there.
"I thought with the Grand Inquisitor's death, the problem was solved?" The commander asked.
"As it turns out, no," Kanan said, shaking his head.
"Other units will be alerted," Sato said. - Thank you for the information. If there is nothing else, then the briefing is over.
They nodded and left, heading for the docking module. They walked in silence, but as soon as they were back aboard the Wraith, Kanan wrapped his arm around the Twi'lek wrist, offering silent support. He felt her flinch, but he didn't say anything yet.
When they were on the Ghost's cockpit, Kanan spoke.
"I can feel your excitement, «he said, turning the Twi'lek around. "That's Ezra, right?"
"We ran into him in the hallway," Hera said softly, resting her forehead on the Jedi's shoulder. "He was afraid of me, Kanan. No, rather, he was terrified. Ezra practically jumped away from me. He was crying.
When Hera sobbed, Kanan pulled her closer and hugged her.
"Kanan, I don't want to go back to the time when Ezra still hasn't opened up to us," she murmured as she accepted the hug. – And now, it looks like we were forcibly rolled back to that time.
"I don't want to go back to that time, either," the Jedi agreed.
"Ezra, I just want to help," Kanan said, trying to wrap the boy in waves of calm, but he was constantly breaking out from under them.
"I can handle this," the guy growled, taking a step back and covering his side, which had soaked blood into his coveralls.
" Why do you persist?" The older Jedi was gradually getting turned on.
"Why do you persist?" Ezra snapped back, also raising his voice.
They were both in the kitchen, and they could have gone on forever, until either the boy bled to death or Kanan gave up and left him alone. But even was interrupted by Hera.
"Kanan, leave him alone, you won't get anywhere by trying, but you'll both upset each other," she said. "Ezra, take care of yourself, but then come to me or Sabine and show yourself. We'll change everything if we have to, " she shot him a serious look.
"Okay, thank you, Hera," the guy said, then glanced at Kanan and disappeared into his cabin with the first aid kit.
"Why do you support him?" Kanan asked in a slightly sarcastic tone, crossing his arms over his chest.
"He's been alone for more than seven years, Honey," the Twi'lek said, coming to rest a hand on his forearm. – And he's been with us less than two months. He's not used to opening up and being with us yet.
"But we're just trying to help," the Jedi said.
"I'm sorry, but even I could see that you weren't offering help, you were practically shoving it in his face," Hera pointed out, smiling at Kanan's frown. "I asked him to show me and Sabine, and Ezra agreed right away.
"Ah, I know, I know, I need to be more patient," Kanan agreed with a sigh.
"He will reveal himself to us," the Twi'lek said, squeezing her wrist and releasing it. "He just needs time."
"Can you check on Ezra?" Hera asked, worried for the boy.
The Elder Jedi closed his eyes and found his apprentice's Force Signature. He tried to gently touch her but was met with mental shields. But from the fact that the shields didn't react, just stayed high, Kanan assumed Ezra was asleep.
"The guy's asleep, but I can't figure out what he's feeling," he said.
"I thought the connection between Jedi master and apprentice was permanent," the Twi'lek said.
"Yes, the connection is permanent," Kanan said. "However, Ezra can block the flow of her own emotions, so I won't feel them. But even then, I can't как-либо influence his emotions in any way.
"Ah," Hera sighed, pulling away from the Jedi and sitting down in the pilot's seat, which she always felt most comfortable in on the entire ship. – This whole situation is making me stressed, and I don't even want to think about how stressed Ezra is.
"That's why we'll all be there to help him," Kanan said as he slid into the copilot's seat.
"Yes," the Twi'lek nodded.: "get out of here, I'm going to calibrate the control panel, and I don't need you here. And get Chopper.
"Yes, yes," Kanan muttered as he stepped out of the cockpit. "Chopper!"
After the droid, having fun because of another (fake) victory over lasat, left for Hera, the Jedi locked himself in his cabin, taking the Holocron's. He was hoping to find some information on how to help Ezra. Tricks, tricks, tricks, whatever.
"Let's get started," Kanan said to himself, then focused to open the Holocron's.
Sabine was once again painting her helmet, which wasn't dented thanks to the sturdy beskar, when she heard the doors across from her room open. She released the spray can button and stopped the flow of paint to listen. His footsteps were quick, but suddenly she heard a thud or push. She wanted to go up and check on him, but she heard Hera's voice: "Are you okay?" There was no response, and after a few minutes the voice said, " It's all right, honey, I'm not going to hurt you."… It's me, Hera." Just a minute later, the Mandalorian heard running ... towards the air Refresher. And then the stifled sobs and soft footsteps toward the cockpit.
The Mandalorian stood up for a moment, wanting to go and check in… she would have liked to say Hera, given that she was the one who was crying, but the girl quickly thought of the young Jedi. Besides, their pilot had a Kanan.
That's why Sabine put down her helmet and jar and left the room, heading towards the Refresher when she heard a loud bang. She didn't know what exactly had happened in the hallway when she'd met Hera, but she was sure it had affected Ezra in some way.
No, she wasn't going to break into the shower to check on him (her cheeks were slightly flushed, but she forced herself not to think about anything like that), but she would have been nearby.
Sabine was worried about the boy. And knowing his quick temper and over emotional nature (though Kanan always spoke of it as a gift), she knew that sometimes it made him do stupid, really stupid things.
So, the Mandalorian moved closer to the Refresher and rested her back against the wall. She was close enough to hear him from there, but far enough away that she wouldn't be told anything.
In general, everything was fine. She could hear the sound of water and the low growl of pipes. However, a few minutes later, she heard something fall.
Sabine wouldn't admit this to anyone, not now or in the future, but she felt her heart almost stop in fear. She was afraid that Ezra had done something really stupid after all.
The Mandalorian was about to take a running start to rush into the air freshener, but suddenly there was a cry.
"Kriff", Sabine swore under her breath, letting out a loud sigh and leaning her hand on the wall. "Ezra, your..."
As much as she wanted to hit him right now for scaring her (terrifyingly, to be honest), she was glad he hadn't done anything stupid. Hell, she needed to get her helmet so she could use the thermal imager to see how he was doing. But since she didn't take it, she just stood there and listened to the sounds of the shower (Kriff, if Zeb or Chopper found out about this, her quiet life would be over).
Sabine lost track of how long she stood there, but as soon as the sound of the water stopped, she went around the corner, hiding. She didn't try to look out and observe, remembering that somehow Ezra and Kanan could almost always sense that they were being watched. A few minutes later, she heard the Refresher doors open, and Ezra moved with a slightly restless step toward the rooms.
The Mandalorian's hand accidentally slipped slightly off the wall, and she lost her balance. She had to take a few steps to keep from falling. When she regained her balance and listened again, she found that she couldn't hear the boy's footsteps. She stood there for a few minutes, barely breathing, when Ezra started walking again. As soon as the Mandalorian heard the distant opening and closing of doors, Sabin emerged from her hiding place and headed for the Refresher.
As soon as she entered, she immediately felt a wave of heat wash over her, the temperature was also indicated by the mirror that had condensation on it. She wouldn't be surprised if all the hot water was used up, which means that it won't be available for the next hour. However, she wasn't going there yet. Although perhaps a shower (and even more so a cold one) would have cleared бы her head considerably.
Then Sabine noticed the dark blue kurta she'd found in the Phantom lying on the floor. She slowly picked it up, worried about what else she might find, but no, there was nothing underneath. The girl threw the jacket into the bucket with another clothes, so that after washing it, she could put it back in the Phantom.
When she had done that, the Mandalorian got out and went to the cockpit. When she passed Ezra's cabin, all she heard was the rustle of clothes and blankets. For a moment, she wanted to knock and check on it but decided not to touch it.
As she passed the cabin company, the Mandalorian peeked inside and saw Chopper doing something to Dejarik's desk again.
"Chopper!" The girl exclaimed, walking up to the droid and intending to kick it. – You know perfectly well that after replacing the code in the program, the table starts to glitch.
"Woob, woob, woob!"
"Yes, I agree it's fun to make fun of Zeb, but this is the second time you've done it in three days. And then I have to fix the code, because Hera scolds you and won't let you change anything again!
"Woob, woob, woob!"
The girl paused, as this was the truth. Today was too hard for all of them. Ezra was presumably sleeping, resting, but the others had to do something, think of something. A practical joke, no matter how banal, would still cheer you up for a while. She would like Ezra to be here, but she can ask the droid to repeat it later.
"All right," the girl said. "Do what you need to do. But next time, you will return the source code under my supervision, " she threatened, and then went to the cockpit, hoping to find Hera there.
When the Twi'lek wasn't there, the girl eventually returned to her room.
"Oh, you damn droid!" Zeb growled, running a strong hand across the table, wanting to discard the pieces that were holograms; he lost again. – You won again! You did something with the game, didn't you?
"Woob, woob!
"I don't understand you!" Lasat growled. "Take it all back. This batch doesn't count.
In response, instead of returning the pieces to their places, Chopper pulled out a stun gun and hit Zeb. He growled in mild pain and annoyance, giving the droid a murderous look.
- Well, that's it, you'll get it from me now!
"Woob, woob, woob!" - droid was having fun.
Chopper broke into a run, gradually breaking away from Zeb until Kanan suddenly appeared in front of him. Chopper was about to just go around and keep running, but the Jedi put a hand on his "head" to stop him.
"Chopper! Hera wants you to help her calibrate the control panel, " he said, and the droid left for the cockpit.
"What should I do?" Zeb asked, still clenching his fists.
"I don't know," Kanan said simply, shrugging. "Find something to do.
"Excellent," lasat grumbled. – I'll go find Rex. This old man owes me a game.
