MAAAAAAAAAD HYYYYYYYYYYPE! By the time this is posted, the Sonic Movie 2 and Sonic Rangers/Frontiers trailer had all dropped! WHOOOOOOOOOOO! Both look incredible! 2022 can't come soon enough, Let's GOOOOOOOOOO!… I do have a few concerns though. For the movie, while its great their clearly going all out, I'm really hoping its not a Sam Rami Spider-Man 3 situation, where everything is shoved into one narrative and its plot is rushed.
As for the game… no gameplay was in that trailer. At all. As a gamer myself, that really bothered me. The only cool things were the environments we would be traversing, the new enemy, and a Breath of the Wild/Assassins Creed/pretty much any open-world-intro-in-modern-gaming-culture moment.
I am gonna keep praying. Praying this'll be great, but I'm gonna have to keep my guard up for those mentioned reasons. As a fan and watched Sonic fall so hard and only to now be revived positively in the public eye, I really hope SEGA doesn't screw the pooch and pull another 06 on us. Game is scheduled for holiday 2022, just like 06 was, and we all know how that turned out. Its a long time, so yeah it gives the devs time to work, but I fear if this game fails… it'll be the final nail in Sonic's cracked and beaten coffin. Not sure the fanbase can handle another promise not delivered either.
But enough negativity, lets get back to this new update for Sonic DxD, as this all calls for a celebration! I'm not fully back to this story yet, as I said I'm gonna officially start writing this again after the holidays, but I figured I can give you guys this to snack on for the time being… an early Christmas present, if you will. Before that, its review time:
Daku Shirosaki:
Sup my dude is me Choas Drago! I'm on a different account due to my old phone being broken and I couldn't remember my password. For now I'm using this account until I get my old one back. But for now let's get down to business! As in THE NEXT ARC BABY! I seriously can't wait for the ORC crew to know about Choas Emeralds existence! things are gonna heat up in the next arc XD (Get it? :D) One more thing and that's is my thanks for giving me a special thanks! I really didn't I would get one tbh XD
But anyways awesome chapter as always dude! I really don't have anything to say since this is really the closure of the arc, but I hope you're doing well and stay safe out there!
Bakuganman: Yo, Daku aka Chaos Drago. Thanks for the review, and your very welcome for the special shoutout. Its been fun, heartwarming and honestly gave me a good laugh sometimes when you did review; so I figured you deserved one. Its been a wild ride, and people like you kept the fuel coming, so thanks once again for the support, and I'll be expecting you to make me laugh some more during the next arc. Its gonna be Chaotic! XD
zain:
I am so touched that you've included me.
And i am glad that you explained everything after the story.
But don't spend too much time on QA, i know QA will help you to become more productive.
Also i recommend to post QA after the chapter.
Bakuganman: Your welcome for including you. And its thanks to your review I've been getting lots of questions via DMs. Lol!
Someone New464:
Thanks for the update. Take all the time you need. My only gripe about this is how you worded this story first being made and now I have a rather horrible image in my head. Fuck you for that and also thank you for this story so far.
Bakuganman: Your welcome.
JeaSonDash:
Man, I'll be honest, Raynare and the other 3 are such interesting character, even if they're antagonist. So to see them dead (again and again) make me sad, like could you just give em some redemption? Oh well, not my fiction anyway.
Bakuganman: I will agree, those Fallen are interesting, though mostly their anime counterparts. They have little impact in the light novels aside from Raynare, with only Raynare and Dohaseek having actual appearances, and given more screen time as well. I have plans for Raynare in another story though, plus I think you'll like this chapter.
Bonus/Extra Chapter: The Fallen meets the Egg
Sometime after Raynare fled from Sonic during their first battle (chapter 8), she reappeared in front of the church she and the other Fallen were using as a base of operations. She had to admit, that blue Hedgehog was something else. He was clearly NOT of this world, his memories held things that didn't make any sense to her. Humanoid animals yet they had huge industrial cities, weird tiki-like structures and what appeared to be roads that had loops going up and around, not to mention strange metal titans that seemed way too advanced and much too large for a single person to operate or control.
Aw, whatever. It didn't matter. Issei was gone, and whatever power he was warned to possess would be lost forever. As she sighed and turned to walk back inside, a shadow flew over her. Curious, she looked up… it just passed over the church itself, and pretty close to its roof.
"What the hell?…" She asked aloud. It might have been a bird or something, but where most birds shadows THAT large? She wasn't one to take chances so spreading her wings, she got airborne in one flap and floating just above the roof.
What the 'bird' ended up being was some kind of small UFO, and heading into the forest behind the church. That caught her completely off guard. First an alien badger that could break the sound barrier, now THIS? What's more, there appeared to have been someone aboard… was that a man in a red suit flying that thing? It couldn't be the human military force, they wore much different uniforms, nor flew aircrafts of that type… at least not full size.
Now a little more interested, Raynare followed the strange flying craft, wondering what this was all about. Sure this might be a waste of time, but all she really had to do now was convince Asia to participate in a certain ritual. She had some time to spare.
The pilot did not appear to notice her presence, which was good, but he ended up going down at an angle into the trees… odd. Don't you normally keep your distance from those things? Of course she might not be a pilot, but she could still fly herself. What was this guy up to? It was difficult, but not impossible, to trail the craft even in the brush, so Raynare began speeding up to fly a little closer just in case. As she did this, beeping alarmed from the radar of the craft, which caused the driver to look down at it and noticed there was a small dot behind the bigger dot (which was him). He quickly stopped and turned the craft around with a fast 180 spin…
But there was no one there. The pilot did look a bit confused with a cocked eyebrow behind his glasses, but held his position for a few more seconds before looking down at the radar again… it still showed something was there, but there was nothing behind him.
"Sir? Is everything alright?" Asked an Orb-shaped robot, apparently having not noticed or wasn't paying attention. The large man said nothing, only looked in the direction that something was in, then glanced down at the radar again, which was of course still telling him the same thing… was it glitching?
"… nothing. The Egg Mobile must need adjustments for this dimension." Was all the pilot said before he turned the ship back around and continued on its original path, figuring perhaps the Egg Mobile needed some tuning up for this world.
Then the camera panned to the side to show Raynare was glancing from behind a large tree, had taken cover behind it just in time, also having recalled her wings so they wouldn't poke out. She felt like an idiot. Of COURSE there was gonna be some kind of tracking system on that ship! They help the pilot drive clear of obstructions and other aircrafts for Heaven's sake!... What was that about another dimension though? All supernatural races could traverse different dimensions, such as the Heavens and the multiple layers of the Underworld. Even a few humans have done this.
Taking her wings out again, Raynare continued to follow the strange man on the equally strange flying machine, by keeping plenty of distance so said machines sensors didn't pick up her presence again. She was actually pretty far from the craft before it only noticed her with a mere slight increase to her speed and following distance, so whatever kind of technology that was must be really advanced.
When Raynare reached where the aircraft was going, her eyes widened in total shock…
A large ship, looking like it had crash-landed was here in the middle of nowhere, had come into view; also having a huge hole in one side of it. That wasn't all, thousands of robots where walking or flying around in all shapes and sizes as if on patrol. Some of them were near the ship, tiny sparks flew out where they were, obviously they were repairing the massive behemoth of a rocket. Even if China and America fused their resources, even they'd NEVER be able to create a ship THAT size. What the hell was that thing, and where did it come from?
Raynare landed behind another large tree and peaked from behind it, just as the man in the red flight suit landed his cruiser. The man hopped out his smaller ship and he was… something. The most notable thing was his massive belly, but he was clearly not Santa Claus despite the red clothing… he HAD to be American. They had the biggest obesity rate on the planet. Raynare watched as 'Santa' then leaned back into the Egg Mobile and… pulled out a McDonalds bag?
Yup. Definitely American.
"You really should eat healthier." Said another robot, one that was flying with him in the Egg Mobile, this one cube-shaped. The large man, now that Raynare got a better look was oddly egg-shaped, glanced down at the smaller robot as if annoyed.
"Just because there's no way home tomorrow, doesn't mean I want to starve today!" The large man said, as he pulled out and unwrapped an Egg McMuffin… was that a pun? He then took a large bite out of the fast food item. After chewing that portion, he stopped and looked confused, having realized something. He then swallowed what he took and opened the top of his sandwich. After deadpanning at it for a moment, he put the McMuffin back together and swallowed what he took, and groaned with: "I asked for egg whites… trying to watch my cholesterol…" before he continued to walk onward, yet still took another bite. As he chewed, he said: "The only thing good about this place…" he gulped down his food before beginning to walk and added: "Is there's no Blue Hedgehogs running around." He finished, then took an third bite of his sandwich.
THAT. Got Raynare's attention… no, not at getting a Fast Food item wrong, that was typical. The Fallen Angel cocked an eyebrow in response at the second bit… Blue Hedgehog?… That had to be some strange coincidence, right? There was no way some overweight, egg-shaped human would know of an alien rodent.
As Raynare continued to watch the Egg-shaped man, one of the drones were floating near her, but she was too focused on the sight of the man and his spaceship to notice. This drone was the same model as the ones used at the church to fight the ORC, except it was yellow and had a searchlight on its underbelly as opposed to a weapon. In this robots POV, it didn't catch sight of the Fallen one just yet as it slowly floated around… but once it turned around a tree in its way, it noticed her and began scanning her, eventually reading her as an intruder as shown with the word "INTRUDER" flashing at the bottom of its screen.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Loud beeping came from this drone, so loud it made Raynare flinch just as a bright searchlight was on her. She had to cover her eyes with a hand blocking the light, but did see the robot making said noise.
"Shut up!" Raynare snapped as she summoned a light spear and threw it dead-center into the drone. This only caused it to blow up after a second of it making a short-circuiting sound. However, it was already too late. Even before the robot was destroyed, the other robots working on or around the ship reacted to the alarm of the destroyed drone. Some of then looked in the direction of the sound, and Raynare immediately appeared on their internal screens, the Fallen one having already been 'tagged' by the robot she had just destroyed.
With the intruder spotted, an army of these robots (mainly the ones who could and/or where flying) began to close in on Raynare's location. Before she could react, one of these robots, this one was very humanoid in appearance, floated in front of the tree she was using as cover. This robot was gray and over 2 meters tall, and had a slim yet triangular torso, but had legs bending backward for some reason. It also had disk-like wings on its back and a head shaped the exact same way, with a glowing light-blue light for "eyes".
Upon identifying her as a target, it raised one of its hands, which had a gun attached to it, and it fired rapid shots at the supernatural being. She went behind the tree further for cover, and luckily the bullets weren't strong to pierce the tree itself. Figuring she ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time, she summoned a magic glyph to try and teleport herself away. Unfortunately, only a dim light came out of her hands… great. She had used so much of her power to try and keep Sonic locked in his memories so he would forget her, and she had exhausted much of her energy as a result… and teleportation wasn't cheap when it came to the Mana bar.
"Oh, fuck me." Said Raynare, spreading her wings and took flight, as that was her only option to escape. The robot that was firing at noticed her flee, and flew off after her, and was joined by 100s of others like and unlike itself. 'Santa' of course noticed this just as he was on the last bite of his delicious sandwich, but didn't see what or whom his mechanical henchmen were chasing.
"Where are they all going?" Asked the cube-shaped robot.
"Obviously they detected something. A Search Flapper's alarm went off." Said the orb-shaped robot, neither he nor his cubed counterpart having seen Raynare either.
'Santa' looked back to his food item. "Ooooooooh… this was a steal…" he sighed, but then tossed it aside after staring at it for 2 more seconds. Jogging over to his hovercraft, he hopped back in with the orb and cube-shaped robots not too far behind. He started its engines up, causing it to float higher (as it was just hovering off the ground), and once he turned it around in the direction his robots have gone, he shot off allot quicker than he was flying it before.
Humorously, the red orb-bot hoped in right after the Egg-man did, but the cube one was a little slower. Just as the red orb grabbed the yellow cubes hand, the driver sped off, making the cube-bot fly behind it like a flag before the red orb pulled him in.
(AN: There's allot of good music for chase scenes, and I couldn't pick just one. So for this scene, you can play any track your heart desires if you think it'll fit.)
Raynare flew as quickly as her wings could carry her, swerving between trees as she sped off… then she heard the humming of jets, and looked behind her to see the robots were already catching up to her, swerving like she did! Their must have been thousands of them, and they all came in a variety of shapes and colors! They must have had highly advanced propulsion systems, but what would be the need for thrusters THAT powerful?
Gritting her teeth, Raynare looked back on ahead and continued to fly on. With no teleportation magic left, she was stuck with flying away… that's all she COULD do…
The robots were gaining on her, and a few gray robots like the one that shot at her earlier began shooting the same bullets, but it was now a hailstorm of them. Thankfully, those bullets weren't very accurate, so Raynare was able to dodge them all by going side-to-side. She couldn't risk getting one of her wings hit, so she turned around so she was now flying backwards, and threw 2 light spears at the 2 closest robots. They didn't have thick armor, so one shot was enough to destroy them which made them explode… but with over 1000 more, there was no way she was gonna be able to skewer them all.
After turning back around, she made a hard right, the massive army of bots of course following her like a swarm of bees.
Speaking of bees, two trios of robots that resembled them appeared above and behind Raynare, they even had bee-like wings and bottoms that were bee-like as well, but they were two different types of bot. The first group were blue in color, and the second group were yellow yet they appeared to look closer to hornets. Regardless of that, the "bees" worked together and fired some kind of laser from their bottom halves. The blasts had decent speed to them, and a few almost grazed Raynare's wings if she didn't start swerving again… that proved to actually help in more ways than one for while the bee robots were fast, they didn't turn quickly so well, which a few of them met an untimely end from smashing into trees and/or their long thick branches.
It was completely unintentional on Raynare's part, but she wasn't complaining. She finished off the last few of them with some spears.
Closing in on her, 5 robots appeared 8 feet on both sides of Raynare (2 on her left and 3 on her right); these ones identical in model of the gray one, but were a blueish-silver color and had a larger gun connected to their left arms. They all began firing these left-handed guns, which shot blue bullets of light compared to the regular bullets its previous model used. Raynare evaded these and while some had missed, she was quite surprised the other half were following her! They didn't last too long as they were kinda slow moving and disappeared in a puff of smoke when they couldn't reach her.
She threw one light spear with a body spin and movement the left, not only evading some more blue bullets, but also taking out the attacker. She repeated this action again, except to the right, yet still took out another bot. She then flew up and in-between tree branches that where wrapped up but made a hole large enough for her to fit through; but the final 3 robots were too focused on her to make the proper adjustment to their flight path, meeting the same fate as the bee-bots did before.
Out of nowhere up ahead, more robots appeared… the hell? Were those floating balls with faces that had more balls around them? How the hell was that even possible?! Whatever those things were, they launched their spiked balls at the Fallen, but she evaded them, though she did have to put up a quick shield glyph for one was just about to hit her in the face. She flew past them afterwards, not bothering to hit them with her spears.
There was a swarm of robots coming from the right, most likely having circled around, so Raynare made a hard left. Of course they fired a bunch of projectiles at her, which she did more swerves and even barrel rolls to avoid, but their was one robot with another similar make to the blue and gray humanoid ones, only it was yellow and had 2 missile launchers for each arm, looking exactly identical to the ligament the Gremory Devils recovered in chapter 14. The camera swaps to its POV, where its shown this robot was trying to get a good lock on Raynare, the cursor following her every move. Once the cursor finally locked-on target, some more internal beeping solidified this, the robot took aim and launched a missile from each barrel at the exact same time, both rockets flying at Raynare at and alarmingly fast rate…
BOOOOOM!
The tiny twin rockets it released exploded on mere contact with the ground, missing Raynare by an inch, but the force of explosion they caused made Raynare lose her balance, which also caused her to start rolling along the ground due to the blowback. She slowly began to get back to her feet, lucky to not have gotten herself blown up, but fuck her sideways! She thought Sonic was bad, but this was insane! Those robots were extremely dangerous! What in Gods name had she gotten herself into?!
As she arose, more robots either landed on the ground, or remained floating midair. Regardless, she was surrounded from all sides. She looked around to see if there was a hole or something in their formation, but no such luck. She was trapped! She couldn't teleport away, and she clearly couldn't try flying away anymore unless she wanted to get shot. Raynare saw only one way out of this, but it would cost exhausting all of her magic. Having no other choice, she began building up as much power as she could so a violet aura surrounded her. The robots didn't make a move, mainly because their internal screens that were scanning Raynare gave them a few errors, for what she was doing did not compute with them and therefore, they didn't know how to respond.
Some distance away, the man in his Egg-shaped craft began making his way to the location of where his henchmen cornered the intruder, but that's when a bright flash of light erupted from up ahead, the sudden appearance of it making him hit the brakes hard which also made the craft lean forward before straightening itself as the light began dying down after a few more seconds. In fact, the 2 orb and cube-bots also almost fell out.
(AN: End music.)
Back at Raynare's location; she was shown with destroyed robot parts, wires and scrap metal scattered around her. As for herself, she began breathing heavily, for she had used the last of her energy to cause a massive magical explosion, which of course had wiped out every single android and robot that had previously cornered her. Taking a last few gasps of air, she then got out her wings again (albeit much slower due to her exhaustion), and took flight to finally try to escape. The church wasn't much farther now, so even if more robots caught up with her, she would have reinforcements of her…
CLAMP! GRAB!
All of a sudden just as she was making her getaway, Raynare body was grabbed tightly out of nowhere by a large hand that was cylinder in shape and had 4 strong fingers that kept the Fallen Angel locked in place. It also had a red and grey color scheme. "NRRRGH! HEY! HANDS OFF!" Raynare said, demanding to be released as the hand began to return to its owner. Of course, the owner of said hand did not obey. As she was slowly pulled back, she looked towards the owner of the strong hand to see a bigger and bulkier robot staring her down with menacing red eyes. It also had a red core in the center of its body, most likely its power source.
Raynare did manage to get one hand free, and summoned a very faint light spear in that hand whose light wouldn't even harm a Devil aside from the spear itself; but this was still taken as an act of aggression as the very second she pulled the arm back for the rather clumsy throw that will follow, 4 more new robots appeared but 2 of each type:
The first were giant bipedal mechs that were only a few inches shorter than the one holding Raynare, but they didn't have arms. What they did have were 2 inverted legs with drills on their heels and a cannon on their central units, also having 2 larger cannons one on each side of said units. One came with a silver and red paint job, the other a silver and blue.
The second ones' were a pair of robots that were modeled after a wasp, giving them a similar appearance to those bee and hornet-like robots from earlier, but their color scheme and size made them much more intimidating, not to mention they just seemed to phase into existence as if they were just invisible. These robots were colored black with purple lines streaking all over their bodies, had a "V" shaped beak on their heads, and also had two stingers on their bottoms. If that wasn't bad enough, several pod-like drones also appeared out of nowhere, but in formation around the bigger wasp-like robots as if they were the pods' queen.
As Raynare's spear was taken as a threat, these 4 new machines locked onto her, red beams of light emanating from them to visualize that. Raynare could only guess that these were more advanced models of the already advanced robots she had fled from, basically higher up on the totem pole. If she made one false move, she might lose an arm… or worse, so she deactivated her light spear, not that she had much left to keep it active.
Some more of the former types of robots of the same exact makes and models from the camp and chase scene also appeared, as well as many Raynare did not recognize or simply failed to notice the first time: Egg-shaped orange foot soldiers with some carrying weapons (Egg Pawns), more combat androids that looked like Iron Man except had a shield on an arm (E-2000s' and E-2000Rs'), a few jellyfish-like ones of 2 different color pallets but they had 2 long arms for claws instead of tentacles and a single eye… Jesus! That ship must have held an army in there! 100s of different robots were all over the area with various shapes and designs!
The familiar humming sound of the Egg Mobile was heard as it approached, then it slowed to a stop before "landing" a foot or two above the ground like it did before back at the crash sight. The man inside then hopped out, then walked towards the robot holding Raynare, step-by-step. The robot in question also lowered the Fallen one so she was at eye level of its master, as if already knowing that's what he wanted. Now that they were closer, Raynare wouldn't call this human intimidating, but his girth did give her pause as it looked very egg-shaped. His head looked WAAAAAY too small for a body that size, wearing small glasses on his face and a pair of goggles on his forehead. The mustache he had under his large nose was long and spread past his cheeks, but it was also neatly kept though spiky at the edges… a pride and joy of his no doubt.
He got the round part down… but he wasn't jolly, that's for sure.
The Egg-man put two fingers on a lens of his glasses as if adjusting them, and appeared to check Raynare out, not in a perverted way but a curious one, perhaps even scientific one… at least that's what she hoped. You know the stereotype about old men and young, attractive girls…
What she didn't realize was behind those glasses were more impressive technology, she was being scanned by computers that were small enough to fit inside a pair of glasses. A sorts of different readings were shown in the Egg-mans POV from within his glasses.
"… Desist, Egg Keeper. Release the girl." Said the Egg-shaped man, apparently talking to the robot holding Raynare hostage. The robot did not respond right away, as if debating if it was a good idea, which did get the Egg-man to groan. "Obviously you didn't hear me," he said calmly, then yelled at the Egg Keeper. "PUT HER DOWN, YOU DUNDERHEAD!" After insulting his own creation, the robot did obey this, opening its hand to release the Fallen Angel. Because it was so sudden, Raynare didn't expect it and almost lost her balance as she landed. "Gently, maybe? What, did Chaos Control scramble your common sense?" The Egg-man added.
Raynare looked confused, unfamiliar with the term the man had just used. Chaos… Control?… The hell did that mean? And how do you control chaos?… Sounded like an oxymoron if she ever heard one. The man then turned around and gestured to talk to the rest of his army. "What am I paying you all for, being mindless drones? This is our guest."
Humorously upon his last statement, some of the robots glanced or turned their heads towards each other, as if questioning the legitimacy of their "guest" or asking themselves: "we get paid for this?"
"Alright! Back to the ship! Go on! All of you!" The human shooed them away, which the robots agreed by flying/stomping/floating/etc off. The Orb-bot also tried 'tip-toeing' away with them, but the human grabbed its head and plopped it back next to him, the Cube-bot on the opposite side. Raynare couldn't help but cock an eyebrow at that. "Don't you know it's quite rude to spy on people?" Asked the Egg-man, wanting to engage in conversation.
Raynare continued to stare at this strange man. He clearly had the numbers and resources to overpower her, but chose not to for some reason. Deciding to play it safe, she went along with it. "I do it for a living." Was her response, folding her arms and making it sound as dry as possible. Of this human was gonna play games, then she'll play along right back.
"Well, your not exactly a Ninja Chameleon" said the man, which again gave Raynare pause. Chameleons aren't native to Japan, but from what she understood, aren't they lazy by nature? Don't get her wrong, she was aware they could turn invisible so to speak, so they got the stealthy part down, but how could one be a ninja? Those people are extremely active. "Then again; your not human either, are you?" The man added, which grabbed Raynare's attention. "Your nothing like that half-human, half-snake women I met a few days earlier… she tried to eat me! Can you believe it?!" Asked the man. "Barely escaped her alive! I lost half of my best robots… though it did give me the brilliant idea, to track down another of her kind and… alter her, so to speak…" the man added, glee in his voice.
"Then she destroyed the lab, making a huge hole in the ship, and escaped into the night… rained 2 nights in a row…" commented the orb robot in as-a-matter-of-factly way.
"Yeah! And the Doc gave her all those cybernetic enhancements too! She didn't even say 'thank you'!" Added the cube robot.
GRAB!
The man then grabbed the tops of both robots heads with a look of exasperation that was noticeable even behind his glasses, and with a whistling sound, he tossed them up and behind him, not bothering to look where he was throwing them. The orb bounced off a tree, while the cube one got caught in-between a split trunk next to where the orb one landed.
Deciding to ignore the exchange between the robots and creator, Raynare eyed the strange man. A snake-like woman… sounded like either a Youkai or Demi-Human (though they rarely came out of their realm), or the mutation of a Devil gone rouge, AKA a Stray. Who exactly was this man though? Where the hell did he come from? And how did he know she wasn't human?… Ok, in fairness, what human could outrun/outfly an army of highly advanced combat machines for an extended period of time?
It also wasn't lost on Raynare the irony of his second statement either… snake-like Stray… he was shaped like an Egg…
"There's really no point in hiding it, is there?" The man 'asked' after brushing what happened with his red and yellow goons under the rug. Speaking of said goons, the red orb was then shown pulling the yellow cubes bottom half out (or at least trying too). After 2 tugs and a longer tug afterward, the yellow cube was freed, but landed on top of the orb.
"You know your not human, I certainly know your not human, and your readings are somewhat similar to whatever monster tried having me over for dinner." He continued, which Raynare wasn't sure when he took her readings (obviously meaning data. She wasn't that stupid), but she normally wouldn't do such a request. Not only was it a waste time, but it a breach of her cover even if it WAS now blown. She could just fly away again, maybe he wouldn't even try to follow if she did.
However, his "Blue Hedgehog" comment from before was still fresh in her brain, her mind giving her a mental picture of Sonic. Could this man really know him? His technology was impressive and seemed to…
THAT'S. When it clicked.
A flashback was quickly generated of the final act of her and Sonic's battle. She happened to see him fighting a large round man but he had robotic attachments on himself. The face of this man then slowly faded away to show a transparent image of the man she was conversing with… while very different in some aspects, they were also very much identical. The stache, the round body, the clothing (to an extent), his large hands… it was all there! This WAS the same man! How did she not see this sooner?!
With a mental image of Sonic appearing by this man side-by-side, there was no doubt in her mind… they were of the same origin. Wherever this man came from… the Hedgehog must have as well. Where? She didn't know, but with all that in mind, she made her choice…
…
…
FLAP!
Raynare slowly released her wings, one after another camera-wise, outstretching them to their longest length, revealing her true self to the scientist. He didn't seem to shocked that he was right, but the wings did catch him off guard. The two robot lackeys looked in awe too, not expecting it either. This was clearly the first time the trio had met someone like her. "My name is Raynare… a Fallen Angel…" she said, then bent her wings like she normally kept them. "And your in Devil territory… Gremory territory. So if you value you and your toys' lives, you'd better go before your blasted out of the playpen and into oblivion." She warned. While she hasn't seen Gremory power, she's definitely heard stories.
"… hehehehe, HOOOOOOO! Ho-Ho-Ho-Ho-Hoooo!" Raynare was taken aback by the robot scientist laughing it off, then did a second set of those laughs, Hoo-Hooing about it as this was none of his concern or nothing to worry about… that or he was plain crazy. "My dear, do you know how many have tried that already?" He recovered and spoke with a high level of confidence… though it could also be arrogance. "Fallen from Lost Hexes, sucked into black holes, betrayed by Gaias' and Chaos', survived massive explosions, and even trapped in White Space where time doesn't exist," he said almost bragging-like. Raynare didn't know if she should believe a single word about those things… but Gaia certainly caught her interest.
"And even after all that, I'm still standing all these years later," he continued to brag before making a fist with pride. "No one can stop the great Doctor IVO Robotnik! The most brilliant, the most daring," the man then caressed his chin and long mustache with his free hand. "And most handsomest scientific genius in the world!"
Raynare couldn't help but smile. She was interested in this strange man now, or IVO Robotnik as he called himself. He did have a decent personality and a high level of confidence… even if it was self-absorbed. "Nothing will stop me from achieving my goal of building the Eggman Empire!" Robotnik proudly declared. "… And if this is Devil territory, why is it your here?" Robotnik then asked. He might not understand the fundamentals of this world yet, but Raynare had called herself a Fallen Angel, so what was her reasons for being here?
Raynare didn't respond right away, a bit surprised at his answer. She had to admit, this "Robotnik" character was sharp. She didn't have any legal right to be here for (as far as she was aware) she had already completed her job with Issei. The only reason she remained around was to retrieve a certain item she wanted from a certain nun before the higher-ups questioned her whereabouts.
And for once, someone didn't play into the very common misconception that Fallen and Devils are the same. Points for the Doctor.
"You can call it, business. There are a few things I need to tie up." She said, then came up with an idea. "… Actually… you might be able to help me with something." She offered, which did get the Doc's attention. "And if you do… as a Fallen Angel, I can grant you a wish" she lied, but figured playing the genie-in-the-bottle-trick might give Robotnik the incentive to assist with her own goals.
"Grant me a wish if I help you?…" Robotnik repeated in a questioning way, then got annoyed. "Oh, like I haven't heard THAT one before… Been there! Done that!" He stated, also folding his own arms.
"I'm serious." Raynare insisted, using a fake genuinely serious expression. "There's this girl… there's something she has that I want. In fact, it could also help you." Robotnik cocked and eyebrow at that, now she DEFINITELY had his attention. She continued on. "You see, she has what's called: a Sacred Gear."
Robotnik and his 2 robot servants didn't appear to understand the term Raynare had just used, further proof they weren't exactly from here. "Sacred… Gear?" The scientist repeated.
"Aren't those the boards filled with air?" The cube robot asked, thinking Raynare meant something else.
"Yes. A Sacred Gear," Raynare said, ignoring what the yellow cube robot said. "They are items of various levels of power. While some are weaker than others, even the weakest ones have the potential to wipe entire cities off the map. In fact, there are so many, we can't even keep track of them all. They're all over the place. Thousands of them" she continued, twisting the facts slightly as you really can't find a Sacred Gear just lying around… they find you, in a sense. But if she could get this man to cooperate, then it really wouldn't matter as she'd be getting what she wanted.
She still had the Doctor's eyes on her, so she continued further. "While its hard to know exactly what type Gear it is and when it will turn up, I've managed to track one down to a little nun girl."
"Then what do you need ME for? Just tell her you were sent by God himself to take it from her!" Robotnik said.
Raynare gave a giggle-like chuckle. If that was his attitude, then this was the perfect guy to ask for he clearly didn't care. "Surely you must understand, I'm not the ONLY after these Sacred Gears," Raynare lied again. While she wouldn't object to more power, she was mainly after Asia's. To reiterate, you CAN'T find Gears out in the open like an Easter Egg hunt… but he didn't know that. "Everyone wants a piece of their power. Other Fallen like me, demons, humans… even Gods." She continued, which so far was the only fully truthful thing she had said throughout the entire conversation.
Despite all the information presented to him, the Doc turned away and put his fingers to his chin, thinking hard and decisively about this. He didn't know any of this information at all, and yet his scanners and other tech never picked up on these so-called "Sacred Gears"… did they really exist? They sounded like counterparts to the Chaos Emeralds, which he's also been there and done that several times, but should he really use his now-limited resources to embark on a new treasure hunt? What about the Chaos Emeralds, assuming they even WERE here in the first place?
Raynare could tell he was debating with himself, so she then flapped her wings to float above and behind Robotnik as he was taller than her, and leaned forward on one of his shoulders while resting both her hand on his shoulders to try and look into his eyes. "Just think about it: if your going to rule as a king of a huge empire, then you'll need huge amounts of power? Riiiiiiight?" Raynare said.
"Hmmmm… yes… that is very true." Robotnik continued to rub his chin even as he agreed with the logic Raynare presented him. It wasn't a bad idea per say, it was just the fact he had very little to work with right now in terms of robotics, which is how he did pretty much anything. It also seemed this strange woman did want to help, of course needing something in return.
"Our goals might be a little different, but the end result is the same," Raynare said, leaning in a little closer, almost (but not fully) flirtatiously. "We both want power. And once I get this Sacred Gear, I'll have everything I could ever possibly need. After that, I wouldn't mind helping you build this empire of yours… you gotta start somewhere, right?" She said. Again, the Doctor didn't answer right away, still thinking it over. Raynare then added the cherry on top: "With your incredible technology, and me as your magical guide: this entire town, even this entire planet could be yours."
You could tell the good Doctor was liking what he was hearing. She was speaking his language, fluently. He looked up at the Fallen one pretty much hugging his back. "You drive quite a good bargain." He said, waving a finger at her. Raynare smiled playfully before finally letting go and floating in front of him after he turned to face her. "So if I do help you find this Gear… you will grant me this wish as per this little deal?" He had to ask as the last time he did this, his own planet was put in jeopardy… not his fault, of course! How was he supposed to know he'd activate a virus that sent him and some furries on a collision course?
Raynare giggled again before responding. "Devils make deals… Angels… make promises." She then held out a hand, offering to shake on it. "What do you say, Doctor? Will the handsomest scientist in the world allow the sexist Fallen Angel to join his club?"
The scientist in question slowly gained his trademark wide grin, and reached to grab Raynare's hand and clasp it, the supernatural's hand a bit on a smaller scale than his. They shook on their deal, sealing it with a handshake. "Oooooh, so strong." Raynare flirted with him, not able to help herself. This was perfect! With this old mans tech at her disposal, there was no way she could fail at any of her plans now! She could climb the ranks even more after all is said and done!
And if the Blue Hedgehog DID decide to interfere again, she'll have more than enough firepower to take on thousands of aliens like him. Even other supernatural beings as herself and at higher classes!
"You've got deal, Madame Raynare." Robotnik said, still having his grin. "The worlds greatest scientific mind and his army, is at your service."
"Oh! And such a gentleman!" Raynare swooned by putting her free hand over her forehead. As the Egg-shaped Doctor let go of her hand, he walked back in the direction of his campsite by his crashed ship with the 2 small bots following him, and Raynare following him by flight. The 2 new allies continued to converse as they traveled, with the Fallen One sometimes flying around or a bit ahead of him in a somewhat girly way and also used different mannerisms at certain points, very reminiscent of her 'Yuma' persona.
The camera also slowly pans up and away as they spoke:
Robotnik: So where exactly did you come from anyway?
Raynare: Oh, just a little church just outside the forest. Happened to see you pass by.
Robotnik: Oh. (speaks sarcastically) So you always follow strangers into the woods late at night?
Raynare: (plays along with a smile) Only the ones that interest me. What about you?
Robotnik: Aw, that's so nice! I'm not from… around here, as you might expect.
Raynare: (makes a pouty face and arms are folded humorously) Oh, come on! Don't be like that! Tell me!
Robotnik: How about we clean you up back at the ship? Talk about it over cake and crumpets?
Raynare: (uses Yuma voice in italics) Oh, well aren't you such a sweetheart! You know, I think this could be the start of a beautiful friendship, Robotnik-kun."
Robotnik: Oh, my dear. We're business partners now… you can call me, Eggman.
As they continued talking, their voices died out from the camera having them far out of shot. The camera continues to zoom away from the forest, but then zooms into the city. More specifically, a certain house. There wasn't much special about this house… unless you count a humanoid Blue Hedgehog laying on its roof.
What's more was as the camera zoomed into the second story bedroom window… it showed a naked Rias Gremory, healing via magic an equally naked yet unconscious Issei Hyoudou…
END
Now you know… THAT'S how Raynare and our favorite tantrum-throwing, mad scientist met. The rest should be self-explanatory. While this is the only official bonus chapter I has planned since the start, I wouldn't mind writing more of these before we begin the next half of Season 1 - The Riser Arc. You tell me what you think in the comments/review section, or even a DM here or on my other socials.
Happy Holidays, my fellow chads. Hope you enjoyed this little Christmas gift. Until 2022, I'll see ya later! Tootles!
