IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
There is no way to sugarcoat this, and I've thought about this long and hard... but I think it's time I retire from this website.
Let me explain: this website is breaking down nearly every 2 weeks, a new issue comes up like notifications and stuff, etc etc. But the biggest reason is because fanfiction dot net doesn't seem to care all that much, mainly because they have not updated there policies since 2008... that's gonna be 20 years in 2028. What company doesn't adapt to the times when they change so quickly? Say what you want about other companies like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc; but at LEAST they update their policies and rules, not let them gather dust since 2008. Combined with the fact the userbase asks them for certain features and updates that will make the platform better, for years, they don't even answer or even make attempts to implement them.
There is also the trolling issue, which I have not experienced as much until I wrote my Son of Westcott story. There has been a troll who, with the same IP address which leads back to the same e-mail(s), had been nagging at me non-stop and had been making new accounts to "voice their displeasure and express their opinions"... over 100 comments now of that same person... that's not an opinion, maybe the 1st 5 times but once you hit double digits... that's targeting me.
The person made their point, they don't like that Shido is not the MC of this story, because apparently people give him a bad rap?... idk if that's true or not, but I have no issue with Shido, in fact I written a few fics with him in collabs or 2 stories by myself. However, while Shido is this person's favorite character, he's not mine. That honor belongs to Spider-Man and marvel characters, even though I admit they are not what they used to be. But over 100 comments bro?... really?... just read something else. I respect Shido is your favorite character, clearly he is, but any sympathy I had for you dried up when the comment count hit 20... I get it. You hate me, you hate this story, your upset that your favorite character isn't here... cool. Now what? What does this change? My drawing I had commissioned is interacting with other drawings... what a crime, almost as big as the worst crime ever: having a difference of opinion.
There is also the issue of customer support. Just using Twitter is not exactly the most effective way to provide customer support, because you have maybe only 3 people running the account, with 100s of replies coming in constantly. Sure they have an e-mail or something (I'll have to look again), but the same problem: They barely answer. Their is little to no communication from admins to the userbase, add that on top of policies and website functions that have not been updated in over a decade... come on, bro. Times have changed. It's not only a few thousand people on the internet anymore. Everyone is here!
The constant crashes during and away from this website are also nerve-wreaking, not able to access my stuff and worrying everyday if the website accidentally loses my stuff. I know it's already happened to some people... and I don't want to be another one of those cases.
This website is on its last legs, so I'm jumping ship before it sinks, because i can literally hear the water fill in the hull... and fast. I understand we all had fond memories here, but I believe it's time to move on. Go to a more modern platforms that's not stuck in the past and is actually constantly taken care of, not just waiting for Twitter dot com to scream at them that week, they rush out a patch, only for that same patch to break in less than a month.
It made me realize... what am I doing? Why am I letting this get to me? I don't need this, I got other, more stable options.
I will be moving all my stuff too AO3, and in 2 months from now (JUNE 20), I will be deleting this account. I don't need the stress of all my hard work being deleted; I'll do that myself, thank you very much! So if you want keep reading my work, bookmark my AO3 account or make an account and follow me there, the account name is in my profile here (can't link it sadly). I can't mentally deal with this website anymore. It was a great opportunity from my original blog posting website I made... and like at that time, it's time to move on.
I may still update here, but please also note, it will be transferred to A03, which will be my new home. And after 2 months, I'm hitting the delete button. This is my advanced noticed to all my readers and friends I've made here, and I hope you'll all join me on the next chapter of my online career.
