Kellie picked the lock on the back door and opened it. Angel stopped Kellie from entering first and went ahead of her.
"The big poof just likes to feel important and likes to be the big hero," Spike said, letting Kellie go in next, "It's nothing personal."
They found no one guarding the back of the building. The trio made their way further into the building.
"Would pepper spray do any damage?" Kellie asked.
"Mildly irritating," Spike said, "But it would blur the vision, buy you some time. Also messes up our sense of smell if you get it up the nose."
"Good to know," Kellie replied as Angel stopped by a door.
Angel opened the door cautiously and looked inside. Kellie caught the scent of decomposing flesh at that point. Angel closed the door.
"I guess they set up a feeding area," Angel said, "Or dumping ground."
"So not just turning people into vampires then?" Kellie asked.
"Still have to feed and not everyone makes the turn," Spike said, "Sorry you had to smell that."
"It's not my first dead body," Kellie said as they continued into the building and headed up a set of stairs.
They started to hear a low hum which as it got louder sounded more like chanting.
Angel and Spike looked at each other.
"What is that?" Kellie asked.
"Based on the chanting," Angel said, "They are probably performing some sort of ritual. My guess is sacrificial or world ending. Kellie, it's not too late to turn back."
"I might not totally understand what's going on," Kellie said, "But I'm not running away. Not when the girl I've trying to help might be in danger or anyone else. You don't know how many vampires, I can believe I'm saying that, are in there. I know they can outrun or over power me, but I haven't survived the things I've survived because I relied on that."
Kellie might have said more but an ear -piercing screaming rang out.
"Time's up," Kellie said, giving Angel a shove, "Now move."
"Just stay clear of any religious symbols, artifacts, objects you don't recognize," Angel said as the trio headed upstairs quickly, following the sound of the chanting, "And don't touch them."
They came upon a large space with a large stone table in the middle of the room surrounded by vampires and about six figures wearing hooded robes. The stone table had ancient writings.
"That's the girl I'm looking for," Kellie said, quietly to Spike and Angel. The girl was tied down to the table, except one wrist. The girl had fang wounds on her neck which dripped blood on the table. One of the vampire priests held her wrist up, slit it, and dripped blood from there on the table.
The chanting stopped.
"She is not the one Lilith choses to wear her crown," the head priest said.
"Then we will drain her," one of the vampires roared. The crowd cheered and was interrupted as Faith dropped down from the rafters on to the table, causing the vampires around the table to jump backwards except the head priest.
"I couldn't let you start the party without me," Faith said, as she staked the head priest.
The whole group of vampires, minus the priests who stayed back, were about to descend on Faith and the girl when a gunshot startled them from the back.
The vampires turned to see Kellie standing with her gun raised to the ceiling.
