PROLOGUE CHAPTER 004

HOSHIKO'S POV:

"….weeell…. that's… too much charm" I jokingly stated….

Charm is the far opposite of what we are staring at. Mr. Masked Dean, took us to a remote area that was a bit father from the school campus. My sisters and I just stared in awe (I think horrified for them more than me) at the place that we will be staying in. The place looked more than just abandoned, it looked like it was ready to collapse, the building structure looked really old and the surrounding area lacked any signs of life except for a few dead trees with spider webs on some of the branches. Looking at the place really reminds me of those classic Haunted Mansions.

"Ahahaha" Mr. Masked Dean gave a cheery laugh before he started to gesture us to move while saying, "Right, Right…. Please come inside".

We found ourselves in what seems to be the lounge area. if the outside was a mess, the inside was much worse… old and dusty furnitures everywhere, some of the wallpapers are slowly peeling off, windows fogged up from the dust and dirt. We looked around for a second before staring back at the Dean. We must had a look of disbelief, so he said reassuringly, "It is not much my dears, but staying here will at least keep you out of the rain. I'm going back to do some more research. Make yourself at home."

"Oh, um… yes well thank you again very much sir." Tsuki-nee giving a constant bow. She really is the polite one among all of us. Both me and Hima-nee also gave a bow and giving our thanks.

Mr. Crowley smiled as he continued, "You're most welcome my dears. Now remember, don't go wandering around the school! Goodbye." And in a blink of an eye he vanished.

All three of us stood there in silence before we all gave one big sigh.

"Man… what a day!" Hima-nee said as she stretched out her arms in the air.

I couldn't help but giggle and looked around the place more… you know even at this state, this place doesn't look so bad… Tsuki-nee started to look around the place. She moved the curtain slightly but a great cloud of dust starts to spread around the room.

"The white dust looks like snow!" I giggled.

Tsuki-nee looked at me and smiled warmly, "yes Hoshiko, it does seem like snow."

"Well, let's make the most of it then, girls!" We turned to look at Hima-nee who was already starting to take off her outer robes and rolling up her sleeves. She looked at us cheerfully as she continued, "Tsukiko! Hoshiko! Let's find something to use to clean up this area at least."

Me and Tsuki-nee nodded as we inspected around. We were lucky to find a couple of old rags in one of the drawers as well as what looks like a small feather duster and an old broom. We began to clean up the area, moving the furniture around and dusting out the curtains. Doing this kind of cleaning has been one of things that me and my sisters usually do back in our world. I hate to say it, but our relatives have treated us more like maids rather than family. Every time we were tasked to clean the house while their children would laze around. It gets worse for Tsuki-nee who doesn't say anything or complains about it. Soon we were able to finish with lounge making it decent enough for us to sleep in for the night.

I guess our luck is finally on our side…

The rain started to pour heavily outside. Fortunately for Hima-nee it wasn't a thunderstorm. All three of us just stared at the window watching in silence.

"It's really pouring down." I said, both of my sisters nodded in agreement.

"HYIII! It'a really coming down!"

"!"

All three of us turned around to see the big racco- I mean cat from earlier… wait… what was his name… it was… oh yeah, Grim! Well, we turned to see Grim standing on what seems to be the floor rug. He looked slightly wet. He started to shake his fur to dry.

"You?!" Hima-nee exclaimed.

"GYAHAHAHA! You all got a stupid look on your faces, like a spider being attacked with a water gun!" Grim said looking very smug, "I'll have no trouble sneaking back into the school. Come on, come on. If you think getting thrown out is gonna make me give up on getting in, you've got another thing coming."

My elder sister looked ready to kick the little creature out the window. I approach the feline and crouched down to ask him curiously, "Why do you want to get into this school so badly?"

Grim looked up to me as he answered, "That's simple… I'm a genius who destined to be a great magician!" I nodded in understanding as he continues, "I've been waiting for the Ebony Carriage to come pick me up." He then got teary eyed as he mumbled, "but…. But…."

"Oh… you poor thing…" Tsuki-nee said she also crouched down next to me looking at Grim with pity.

Grim looked surprise by this but he then scoffed and put on a tough guy look as he said, "Hmph! Well the Dark Mirror just doesn't have an eye for this."

"Yeah, sure it doesn't" Hima-nee grumbled rolling her eyes.

Grim gave her a dirty look before looking at me and Tsuki-nee with a more confident smirk as he said, "So that's why I came here on my own. Not letting me in would be a great loss for the world. Human's just don't get it."

All of a sudden a drop of water falls on top of Grim's head…. His fur bristles as he cried out, "NYAAA! SO COLD! THE ROOF IS LEAKING!" Soon more droplets begin to fall down. The feline creature started to prance around in panic trying to avoid the droplets. "FGYAA! It keeps coming! My adorable ear fire is gonna go out at this rate!"

I couldn't help but giggle at his antics… even if he was a monster, he really looked soo cute! I really wished I had my phone with me… this was definitely an IG Photo op.

"Where is it falling from?" Hima-nee wondered. She stretched out her hand while looking up to see if she can pinpoint the location of the leak.

Grim huffed as he said, "Magic should fix this leak up real quick."

"Umm… we can't use magic, Grim." Tsuki-nee replied.

"Wha? You can't use magic?" Grim said looking rather shock. He then gave a smirk as he said, "PFFT…. You three are useless!"

Both Tsuki-nee and I could see a vein mark appearing on our older sister's head. Oooh… bad choice of words Grim chan. My sister took Grim by surprise and grabbed the creature by the scruff of its neck. Grim already looked a bit scared and took a great big gulp.

"Listen you little furball…" Hima-nee said in a rather low tone voice, "instead of making rash assumptions of us… why don't you make yourself useful… AND HELP US!" the last part came in a near shout.

Grim blinked as he said, "Huh? Help you?" He then gave another mocking smirk as he continued, "No way! I'm just a regular monster staying in a rainy place. You better get a can of tuna ready before I do any work."

"Why you little.." my sister's vein mark just tripled in size. Tsuki-nee then stepped forward and pried Grim out of Hima-nee's hold, "That's enough!" She sternly said, "This is not the time to pick a fight. Why don't we just go and find a bucket to use for the leak. Whether you both like it or not, we are all in the same situation. So please… let's just get along" Both Grim and Hima-nee just glared at each other before looking away grumbling, "Fine…."and "Yeah, yeah!"

Walking down the dark hallways of the dorm really can really spook anyone. I, on the other hand am enjoying this… call me weird, but I always have been a big fan of Horror movies and stuff…. My sisters on the other hand are not as enthusiastic as me.

The creaking of our footsteps is echoing throughout the walls.

"Ugh… I really don't like this feeling…." Muttered Hima-nee.

"Me too…." Whispered Tsuki-nee nervously

"Wouldn't it be cool if there were actual ghosts that live here!" I chirped happily

"Seriously Hoshiko?! Not something to wish for!" Hima-nee cried out at me. "Besides, don't be silly… there's no such thing as gho-!"

All of us stopped walking as we gaped in surprise, floating before us were 3 bonafide Ghosts, one large, one thin and boney looking, and one slightly plump. All three wearing top hats and grey capes and looking at us mischievously.

"Hee hee heee….hee hee hee…"

"We haven't had a guest in so long…."

"I've been itching for some action. Eeheehee…"

"…" All three of us just stared at the 3 specters… our jaws dropped…. Then soon my sisters started to scream, "KYAAAAAAAA! GH-GH-GH-GHOOOOOSSSTTTSSSSSS!"

I looked at the 3 in utter amazement my eyes must be sparkling as I exclaimed, "So cool!"

"What are you 3 freaking out….GYAAAAHHHH! G-G-G-GHOOOOSTS!" Grim who was behind us looked at us perplexed before also freaking out at the sight of the ghosts.

"The people living here got scared of us and left." Said the average looking ghost.

"We've been looking for more ghost pals." The Larger one said, he soon floated closer to us as he said, "How about you guys?"

"Eek! We're going to be killed!" Tsuki-nee gasped. Although scared, Hima-nee, quickly pulled both me and Tsuki-nee behind her as she took an attack stance, "Just you try and come near us!" she growled. We could see though she was shaking and sweating from fear.

"Uuu…eeee…." Grim was also hiding behind Hima-nee's leg shaking in fright. He then shook his little head before stepping forward and putting on a brave face. "Grim the Great Magician isn't scared of some ghosts! NGAAAH!" He then took a deep breath before shooting out a great ball of fire at the Ghosts

FWHOOOM

The Ghosts disappeared and re-appeared again on another side of the wall. Looking at Grim while taunting, "Where are you aiming?"

"Over here! Hee hee hee!" The larger Ghost said mischievously waving its arms while floating high about the ceiling.

Grim tried again but they quickly disappeared before the fire could hit them. "Shoot" he grumbled, "Stop disappearing". He continued to try and shoot the ghosts but it was obvious that they were toying with Grim.

"Cut it out, Grim!" Hima-nee yelled out, "if you keep this up, you'll burn the place down!"

"Shut up! Don't try to give me orders!" Grim snapped back. My elder sister quickly grabbed him by the scruff of the neck as she looked sternly at him. "Listen here…. You may be just an annoying and obnoxious little furball… but you're the only one we can depend on right now in fighting against these ghosts! You want to prove yourself that you're a Great Magician to the headmaster? Well, now's your chance!"

Grim just looked at Hima-nee in awe, I think this was the first time he heard someone acknowledging his magic…. I decided to add something else to help seal the deal…. "Grim-chan… If you win, we'll be sure to give you a can of tuna!" I smiled wider as I see Grim looking at me in shock at my deal.

"Wha?! Mmmmgm." He then looked at all of us with a more determined look. He freed himself from my sisters hold as he stepped forward declaring, "I-I'm a genius. I won't let one…"

"Heeheehee!"

All of a sudden the 3 ghosts began to surround us. My Sisters and I are huddling to each other while Grim was getting more and more annoyed. "Bunch of cowards, ganging up on us!"

"I couldn't have said it better myself…"Hima-nee smirked as she also started to go in an attack stance. She looks down at Grim admiringly as she said, "You're not so bad, oh Great and Powerful Magician Grim! Listen up, once we get rid of these creeps then I'll make sure you get one more can of tuna!"

Grim looked up at Hima-nee with a surprised expression, he then slowly turned excited and said, "Gunununu…" He looked back at us as he continued, "Hey girls! Tell me where the ghosts are!"

We scanned around carefully, suddenly we caught sight of one of the ghosts suddenly appearing.

"On your left!" Tsuki-nee pointed out. Grim blew out a huge fireball.

FWWOOOM

"EEEYOUCH! HOT! HOT! HOT!" cried the Skinny Ghost who got hit.

"I hit it!" cried Grim enthusiastically, "Alright! Let's chase them all outta here!" We all nodded and continued to scan around.

"There's one on your right!" Hima-nee called out.

"There's one over there!" I cried out.

All four of us worked together in hitting the Ghosts. With one final fire burst all three Ghosts appeared before us looking slight burned as they cried out, "Hee-heee! We're goners! Run Away!" With that… all 3 quickly vanished.

"E-eh? We… won?" Grim said in disbelief. All three of us broke into a smile and quickly hugged the feline. "That was amazing, Grim-chan!" I giggled.

"Yes… you were truly amazing thank you." Tsuki-nee said.

"Hu, hee… that was sca-" Grim started ready to deflate, but then he realized that we were praising him so he quickly changed his attitude and gave a tough guy act (aww he is soo cute ^v^) "N-No I wasn't scared at all!"

Hima-nee laughed while rubbing his head, "yup that's right. You weren't scared at all." Grim looked embarrassed by the gesture and huffed out saying, "This is nothing for the Great Grim! How about that, Ghosts, you done?"

We all just smiled at the little guy. Suddenly, Mr. Masked Principal appears carrying what seems to be 4 bento boxes and 2 paper bags.

"Good evening ladies," He said cheerfully, "I have graciously brought you supper and a new set of-" He stops as he sees Grim, "You! You're the monster that ran amuck during the entrance ceremony! I threw you out of the school. What are you doing here?"

"Um, well…" Tsuki-nee began to say.

"Hmph! I exterminated the ghost problem! Be grateful!" Grim said looking more smug now.

"Hmm? What do you mean by that?" Mr. Crowley asked looking a bit confused.

"Ah…. Well you see sir…" Hima-nee said scratching her head and looking a bit sheepish, she then explained to the Principal everything that just happened. The masked man listened looking more thoughtful now.

"Now that you mentioned it, there were some prankster ghosts living here so that students will keep away from this dormitory and that's why it's now empty… I'd forgotten about that"

All of us looked at the principal in shock.

"Wait, what?!" Hima-nee cried out, "How could you forget something as important as that?!"

"Calm down neesan!" Tsuki-nee consoled our elder sister. If it wasn't for Tsuki-nee the Masked Dean would probably get a full blown taste of Hima-nee's MEGA CHOP.

I still gotta admire the Principal, he looks so calm, then again, he probably wasn't paying any attention to my sister's rants.

"Hmmm… however…" Mr. Crowley continued, "for you four to work together, to get rid of them…"

Grim frowned as he said, "I'm not gonna overlook that 'together' comment. They were just standing there watching. And I did this for a can of tuna."

"WHAT DID YOU SAY YOU STUPID FURBALL!?" Hima-nee scowled turning to glare at Grim, whom I am carrying for the moment. "If I remember correctly you BEGGED US to help you find them!"

"Phhfft! Please, I did all the work and I did not beg!" Grim retorted back, "Besides you promised me a can of tuna just to help you 3… Ah.. I haven't gotten that tuna yet!"

The two were soon glaring at each other, I giggled as both looked really funny at that moment. Tsuki-nee is trying to calm both of them down. We stopped when Mr. Crowley said, "I'd like the 4 of you to show me how you exterminated those Ghosts."

"Huh?" We looked at the Principal with a questioning look. "Ugh!" Grim groaned, "But we already got rid of all the ghosts! Before that: GIVE…. ME… TUNA…" He snarled at Hima-nee who returned to have a glaring contest with him.

Mr. Crowley then cleared his throat to get our attention again as he said, "I shall be the Ghost. If you beat me, I'll give you tuna cans. For I am gracious." He then takes out a small vial from his coat pocket as he said, "Transformation potion, GULP!" With a poof he then transforms into a Ghost, with his mask and top hat still there.

"Wow!" I breathed out. Magic really is soo cool. Even my other sisters looked impressed. Grim on the other hand looked more annoyed than amazed. "Eeehhh, I don't wanna. This is a pain and I have to team up with them again…." Grim complained.

I looked down at the Monster Feline and said, "You know Grim chan…. If you do this, it may give you the chance you need to get into the school." Upon hearing that, Grim's eyes widen then grumbled, "GRRRR… Listen here… This is the last time! You absolutely, ABSOLUTELY have to give me tuna!"

We all nodded and then looked at the principal.

"All right everybody," Hima-nee said cracking her knuckles, "let's do this!"

SEVERAL MINUTES LATER

"Huff… huff… ha… how about that!" Grim said to the principal (who has returned back to his normal state). We just finished our task, and Grim was already sweating and looking rather tired. This time it was Tsuki-nee who was carrying the little monster.

"I can't believe it…."Mr. Crowley remarked in amazement, "there are people who can command monsters."

"eh?" We all blinked at the man looking a bit confused.

He then continued putting his hand under his chin and looking deep in thought, "Hmm… actually, my teacher senses were telling me since the uproar during the entrance ceremony…that you three have talents as an animal or wild beast trainer."

Again, we all blinked owlishly as Hima-nee uttered, "Say, what now?"

Mr. Crowley, who is still deep in thought continued, "but…no matter how… hmmm…. If I let you into the school… then maybe….no it wouldn't quite work…. But then again…"

My sisters and I looked at each other and then at Grim before Hima-nee cleared her throat and raised her hand as she said, "You could let Grim stay here with us…"

Both Mr. Crowley and Grim looked at my sister in surprise.

"What now? A monster?" Mr. Crowley gasped.

"You girls….?" Grim muttered in disbelief. He looked at my sisters before looking at me, I smiled at him reassuringly.

"Pleaaase, Mr. Crowley" I said looking at him with my puppy dog eyes look (yup this works every time)

The principal looked at me and he seemed to be at a loss for words before he sighed and said, "It can't be helped…. All right!"

"HNNN!? REALLY!" Grim exclaimed looking more happier every minute.

"That's wonderful, Grim." Tsuki-nee remarked. We all smiled at each other, but then we turn again to the principal as he said sternly, "However, I can't simply allow someone, let alone a monster, into the school who wasn't selected by the Dark Mirror.". Grims ears began to droop down looking rather disappointed, Mr. Crowley continued, "Also, I can't let you three become freeloaders here until you return to your own world."

"Well talk about short-lived joy…" Grim grumbled sadly.

"Listen until the end." Mr. Crowley said (looking annoyed that he was being interrupted.) "concerning the fact that your souls were called here…the school has to take responsibility as the owners of the Dark Mirror. For the time being, you all will be permitted to stay in this dormitory for free. But other necessities you will have to provide yourselves."

We three looked at each other again before nodding in agreement with the principal. Though it will be a challenge, where can we find part time jobs in this magical realm? Hmmm… maybe they have a fastfood place in this world we can apply for….

"Seeing as you have nothing to your names…." Mr. Crowley continued then giving us a really mysterious smile, "fufufu, here is my proposition."

All three of us looked at the man feeling a bit nervous now.

"U-Uhmmm… okay….." Tsuki-nee stammered, "what exactly are you going to make us do?"

The principal chuckled at our reaction as he said, "No need to fret. I'll have you do maintenance and odd jobs around the campus."

We all gave a sigh of relief, thank goodness he wasn't asking us to do something perverted or weird.

"From what I can see, you three seem to be pretty decent at cleaning," he said gesturing at the lounge room, "would you three like to become the 'female handymen' of the school? This way you will receive special permission to remain on school grounds." We again looked at each other. What he is offering doesn't seem to sound bad. "You'll also be able to research going home or study whatever you desire in the library. For I am gracious!" Upon hearing the word 'library' Tsuki-nee's eyes perked up and sparkled with excitement. She always loved to read books and she looked like she was in heaven when we went to the school's library earlier.

"However, only after your work is done." The principal quickly added.

"Sure… that's cool with us." Hima-nee said.

"Yes, most definitely." Tsuki-nee said happily.

"Ehhh?! I'm not okay with that!" Grim whined. "I wanna wear that fancy uniform and be a student!"

"It's fine if you're unsatisfied. I'll simply toss you out again." Mr. Crowley said while shrugging.

"FGNAAA!?" Grim panicked, "I get it! I just have to do it… Just do it!" He grumbled the last part looking more and more down.

"It's gonna be okay Grim chan" I said stroking his head. He seemed to cheer up a little bit.

"So it's unanimous…" Hima-nee said she looked at Mr. Crowley and said, "we accept sir."

The masked principal smiled as he said, "Wonderful. Then you four…. Starting tomorrow, endeavor to be the best Handywomen at the Night Raven College!"

"Yes, Sir!" we said.

"Now then ladies, I am sure you must be hungry." He then offered us food to eat. The meal was really good. Afterwards he handed to us two paper bags, "Here my dears," he said, "It wouldn't feel right to have you ladies wear the same outfit now can we."

We peered inside to our relief and joy were good sets of clean clothes and shoes.

"Thank you so much sir." Hima-nee said.

"Yes, yes… oh how gracious I am…." The principal said, "it was fortunate that Miss Blue's clothes shop was nearby and was still open. I was able to get a decent set of clothes for you."

"Mr. Crowley, we really are grateful for your kindness." Tsuki-nee said giving a small bow, both me and Hima-nee also followed suit.

The principal smiled warmly as he said, "yes well ladies, I believe it's time for you to take your rest. I will see you all tomorrow bright and early… good night and pleasant dreams." He gave a gallant bow before magically disappearing again.

We took one last look at the clothes and walked upstairs. We chose one of the least messy bedrooms before changing out of the robes into what looks like nightgowns. (A/N The one similar to what cinderalla wears).

"Hmph!" I still wanna wear that fancy uniform!" grumbled Grim. All four of us decided to stay in one bed just for tonight. Tomorrow after our work, we'll try and clean up the other rooms.

"Just be patient you little furball" Hima-nee said, "you need to prove yourself if you want to really become a student."

"I can't wait." I giggled

"It's late, lets get some sleep." Tsukiko said.

Soon everyone was fast asleep except for me… I couldn't help but grin with excitement…I turned slightly to my side and noticed a tall mirror hanging on the wall, for a moment I though I saw a shimmer of light in the reflection, but then I blinked again and there was nothing there.

I simply shrug and slowly started to fall into slumber… but not before thinking…

"Tomorrow will definitely be fun!"

So how do like this new chapter from Hoshiko's perspective? I hope you all enjoyed it. I am really excited as the next chapter will have Ace and Deuce finally make an appearance and many more.
