CHAPTER 01 : THE CRIMSON TYRANT PART 02

HIMARI'S POV:

(MAIN STREET)

After a hearty breakfast, the six of us began to walk down the main street towards the campus building. All the while Grim was a few steps ahead of us humming and looking rather smug as he started to show off his magic crystal.

"Hey, hey. Outta my way…" Grim cried out proudly, "The Great Grim is making his way as a student of Night Raven College!" He then turned around and looked at Ace with a smirky expression as he taunted on, "Look at my collar. Unlike that lame thing around your neck… MINE is very stylish."

Ace was looking rather livid, we all sighed and shook our heads, despite it being Ace's fault to begin with, the little Furball was rather pushing it. We all knew he was just doing that to get back at the red-haired idiot for what he said to us before.

Grim, not noticing our expression (or rather, didn't really care), continued. "On top of that, you can't use magic, correct? You'd make a really good janitor today." Grin then cackled, "NYAHAHAHA! I feel really good!"

Wow… it's true as the saying goes… what goes around, comes around.

I sighed again as I said, "You really just won't let that stuff from yesterday go can you, Grim?"

Grim just shrugged and pranced on further.

Ace was grumbling on and muttering, "Grr… I'll remember this for when I get my magic back!"

Deuce looked at Ace saying, "The headmaster just told us yesterday not to make another scene…. Nevertheless, you're going to have problems in class with your magic sealed."

Tsukiko looked at Ace, already feeling sorry for him suggested, "Perhaps you just need to go and apologize to your Dorm Leader first, so that he can remove that collar."

Ace huffed as he said, "Crap. This won't go well at all!"

Hoshiko giggled as she said in a sing-song tone, "Well it won't hurt for you to try, Acey-kun!"

Grim came back to us and quickly jumped into Hoshiko's arms as he added, "Yeah…. We've still got time before class, and I'm curious about the other dorms. Let's go watch Ace's apology." Both him and Hoshiko started to give a small laugh.

Ace glared at them as he angrily said, "This isn't a show! SCREW THIS!" He then stormed off angrily towards the campus building.

We all looked at each other before quickly following him.

As I passed by the laughing pair, I gave the little furball a light bop on the head before walking on after the red-head.

HIMARI'S POV

(HEARTSLABYUL DORM)

We soon arrived at the two boys' dorm through the Hall of Mirrors. When we arrived the place was gorgeous, it kinda reminded me of those European castles that I saw from Tsukiko's books. The dorm building was red and white, and the garden itself was lush and vibrant. I glanced over to my sisters and already could see that they were in awe of the place as I was.

"Woah! This place is gorgeous! It couldn't be any more different than ours!" Grim said excitedly.

"Hey!" I snapped glaring at the little furball, "Ours is still in development!"

It was rather offending but sadly deep down I kinda had to agree with Grim… but no way am I letting him know that.

We then followed Deuce and Ace down the path, all the while Tsukiko is looking at the flowers with starry eyes while Hoshiko was awestruck and mumbling, "Oooh… I really wish I had my phone with me, this is soo deserving an IG photo op!"

Soon we arrived at what Deuce said was the dorm's Rose Maze. As we continued to look around Tsukiko then said, "Eh…. Wait, are these red roses just painted on?" We all stopped and took a closer look. To our surprise the roses were indeed painted red.

"Who would.." I began to ask, when suddenly we heard someone's voice from behind one of the maze wall.

"Crap, crap. I've gotta get these roses painted."

We went closer to see a young man wearing the same uniform as Ace and Deuce hurridly painting the roses as fast as he can. He had orange hair, the top portion tied back into a ponytail while the rest hangs straight. With green eyes and under his right eye, he has a small red patch shaped like a diamond.

"Oh look someone's here." Grim said.

The guy turned around and looked a bit surprised to see us, his expression then quickly changed to a friendly smile as he waved at us, "Oh, watch out." He pointed towards our feet, a few more steps and we could have accidentally stepped over the cans of red paint. "Any paint splatters and my head is gone."

A sudden jolt came to me, a quick image of a dream I had… it was the same…. It was ….

"I… feel like I've seen this before…" I whispered.

Tsukiko looked at me with a slight concern as she asked, "Neesan?"

I quickly shook off from my daze and gave a nervous laugh as I said, "Oh… hehehe it's nothing… never mind."

The orange-haired boy then approached us and asked "Hmmm? Do you all need something?"

"What are you doing with all of that?" Ace asked nodding towards the half painted roses.

The young man looked at his work before looking back at us and smiled saying, "This? As you can see I'm painting the roses red."

All of us just looked at the guy in shock. Tsukiko then asked, "Eh? But why?"

The guy smiled and gave a small chuckle as he continued, "Hmm…. Your fresh reaction is so cute!" He then looked at us intently before landing his sights on Deuce and Ace, "Now that I take a good look at you…. You're the freshmen that busted the 10,000,000 madol chandelier yesterday."

Both Deuce and Ace looked down in shame as the red-headed muttered, "We're gonna hear about the chandelier until the day we graduate…."

The boy added while pointing at Ace, "And you're the one who added on more punishment by stealing the dorm leader's tart last night!" Ace flinched even more as if the words were drilling into him. The orange haired student looked even happy as he said, "I feel so lucky getting to meet the notorious newcomers first thing in the morning." He quickly got closer to us taking out his cellphone and pointing the camera towards us saying, "Hey, hey, hey, let's take a selfie! Yay!"

It took us by surprise when he took that selfie shot, I had to rub my eyes a bit from that sudden camera flash. Hoshiko giggled and whispered, "He's funny, and kinda cute."

Awww… heck no….

I just glared at the guy who was oblivious to our stares as he was typing away on his phone excitedly. He looked at us and cheerily asked, "Can I put this on Magicam? Tell me your names so I can put you in the tags."

"I'm Deuce Spade."

"Ace."

"Grim!" The little monster said then added while pointing at us," And my henchmen."

"Who are you calling HENCHMEN?!" I growled at the little furball.

Hoshiko just giggled some more and introduced us, "I'm Hoshiko Akari, and these two are my sisters, Tsukiko and Himari."

The guy nodded and pressed send as he said, "All right, upload finished!" He then looked at us and said, "Ah, I'm your senior, third year Cater Daimond. Call me Cater. Cay is fine, too. Nice to meetcha!"

We smiled and waved and Hoshiko greeted, "Nice to meet you too, Cay-Kun!"

"Ahh, you're the 3 lovely sisters who became the supervisor for Ramshackle Dorm that I've heard about." Cater said while giving us a flirty grin, "Good for you, living in a place like that! It's super dark and you can't get a good Magicam in there. You have my sympathy."

Both Grim and I frowned and glared even more at him now. Seriously?! Are all the students at this school pig-headed jerks!?

Grim crossed his arms and grumbled, "This guy is really running his mouth."

Cater suddenly panicked and ran back to the tree he was working on crying out, "AH! I don't have any time for small talk! The party is in two days. I don't wanna lose my head for being late."

He then looked at us and gave a slight pleading look, "Hey, you guys, will you help with painting the roses?"

"But why are you doing something so weird?" Ace asked curiously.

"Red roses at a party are the most photogenic! I guess?" Cater replied, and for a brief moment he looked a bit unsure as he went on, "I've also got the change the flamingos' colors for the croquet match… So I'm busy with all this work."

We just stared at him for a bit, rather unsure of what to say. I slowly then said, "Sooo… you're changing the colors of both the roses … and the flamingos?!"

"Your chores are so weird!" Grim chimed in.

"So the tart that Ace ate was going to be used for the dorm leader's birthday party." Deuce said, he sighed out while shaking his head, "That's why he was so mad…"

Cater grinned more as he replied, "Nope, that's not it!"

We blinked and looked at him in confusion.

"It's not!?" Ace exclaimed, "Then who's birthday is it?"

"It's not anyone's birthday." Cater said, "The day after tomorrow is our dorm's traditional 'UNBIRTHDAY PARTY'."

"Hm? 'UNBIRTHDAY PARTY'?" Hoshiko asked

Cater nodded to her as he continued to explain, "The dorm leader chooses a random day that isn't anyone's birthday and we have a tea party."

"The heck is that?!" Ace asked looking eve more confused now.

Cater shook off the question as he started to continue his work, "Later, worry about the reason later!" He then pointed at us saying, "All you have to do now is make the roses red! Deuce, Grim, you two can do it with magic." He then pointed at Ace, Me and my sisters saying, "Ace and you ladies, since you can't use any magic here's some paint." He quickly approached us and handed us a bucket of red paint and some brushes.

"Hey… hang on… we never said…" I began to say. But was soon interrupted by Deuce who was looking amazed. "We can change the colors… with magic?"

Grim looked also surprise, "I've never done anything like that."

Cater again grinned and waved his hand nonchalantly as he said, "Okay, it's fine, just relax! We'll figure it out! We better hurry if we don't wanna lose our heads to the dorm leader."

"Aarrrgggh! Fine lets' just do this!" I grumbled. Both my sisters just smiled and walked with me towards another rose bush.

(A FEW MINUTES LATER)

"Red, red…. There! GAH! IT TURNED BLUE?" Deuce looked at his work in disbelief

"Change color….Take that!" Grim pointed his paw at one of the white roses. All of a sudden the rose burst into blue flames. "GYAAAH! THE ROSES ARE ON FIRE!" The little monster then quickly rushed to put out the flames.

Cater sighed out and shook his head in disapproval as he said. "You guys are really more terrible at this than I could've imagined." He looked at our rose bush and smiled happily and walked closer to us… (well he seems to be getting a waaay bit too close to Hoshiko….). He looked at all of our roses and whistled in amazement saying, "Wow! You three are doing much better than those guys…. Especially you Hoshiko." He said looking at my younger sister in a little bit flirty manner, "Are you by chance an artist?"

My little sister started to giggle and said, "Yup…. Painting is one of my favorite hobbies."

Cater smiled more and leaned closer saying, "That is soo amazing! Not only are you so cute but also talented with the brush."

My frown grew and the grip on my brush handle tightened to the point that it might break. Tsukiko must have already sensed my murderous rage so she quickly got closer to the two and gently pulled Hoshiko a few distance away from the carrot topped creep, both looked a bit confused. Luckily, Ace approached Cater and asked, "Aren't the roses fine being white? They're pretty."

"This our tradition." Cater explained, "Roses are red for the Unbirthday Party. And we use flamingos in seven different colors for croquet with hedghogs as the balls."

"Oh dear, those poor creatures." Tsukiko whispered.

Cater continued, "But y'know, the spring garden concert of the flowers uses white roses. That's an important point too."

"Those are all strange rules!" Grim said.

"They say these rules were all decided by the Queen of Hearts from the Great Seven. Riddle is particularly passionate about following the rules even compared to other strict dorm leaders." Cater said and then gave a little nervous chuckle as he continued, "I won't deny he goes too far sometimes, though…."

I stopped frowning and couldn't help but notice that from the tone of Cater's voice even he seems to feel a bit tired out by this Riddle guy. Is their dorm leader really that strict?

Ace then jumped again and realized why he came in the first place, "That's right! I don't have time for this. I want to speak to the dorm leader, is he inside?"

Cater looks at the young red-haired freshman saying, "Hm? I think there's still time before he leaves…" He then crossed his arms and asked, "By the way, Ace the tart theif, did you bring a tart of apology?"

Ace shook his head saying, "Ah? No, I came first thing so I'm empty handed…."

"On noo… is that so?" Cater sighed out and looked a bit regretful before saying, "Since you're going against the Laws of the Queen of Hearts, Number 53: 'ONE MUST ALWAYS RETURN WHAT THEY STOLE', I can't let you in the dorm."

"Huh!? The heck is that?!" Ace cried out looking flabbergasted.

"I'll lose my head too if I knowingly let you in while you're not obeying the rules. Hehe… I feel bad but you need to leave before Riddles notices."

I suddenly got in front of both my sisters and glared at the senior student. His smile was still there but I could already tell he was also getting deadly serious.

Ace backed up a bit looking even more nervous now saying, "Woah! His face got serious! Guys, help me out!"

"Why would I?" Deuce asked looking annoyed.

Ace looked at us pleadingly, "Please… I can't use magic right now…. AH! HERE HE COMES!"

I gasped as Cater suddenly dashed towards us and then…

(ANOTHER FEW MINUTES LATER)

"Now, go get a tart and then try again! Bye-bye!"

We silently walked out of the dorm in utter silence. We then stopped and gave a great big sigh. Ace, Deuce and Grim looked a bit messed up… well they did get their butts kicked by that guy… he may not look it, but he was fast… how did…?

Ace grumbled, "Arrg… what's his problem!"

Deuce mumbled out and still looking a bit shock, "No matter how many times we took him down he keeps coming back…. I wonder if he was using illusion magic?"

"On top of that, we get turned away at the gate without a tart?" Ace grumbled louder and looking more pissed. "We didn't have anything to begin with. He just wanted us to paint the damn roses!"

"He's a shrewd one!" Grim mumbled.

I sighed and shook my head and said, "Look, what's done is done ok…. You just need to bring a Tart and then try again."

Ace just looked at me and nodded but still looked pissed.

"AH CRAP!" Deuce cried out.

"Eh? What's wrong, Deuce?" Tsukiko asked.

The blue-haired boy looked at us in panic as he said, "This is bad, the warning bell already rang! We're gonna be late!"

"FGNAAH! My shining school life if going to be tarnished on day one!" Grim cried out looking just as panicked as Deuce. He then looked at us and said, "Come one! Let's get a move on!"

"What class are you four in? You're all first years, right?" Ace asked.

"Well…. The headmaster told us our class is 1-A" Hoshiko replied.

Deuce brightened up as he heard that and looked at Tsukiko happily saying, "Wow! We're in the same class. First period is Potions."

"Wow! Sounds like fun!" Grim said excitedly.

We three smiled and Hoshiko squeeled in delight, "I'm super excited!"

Ace just sighed out and muttered, "I can't use magic so I wonder how this'll go…."
