CHAPTER 01 : THE CRIMSON TYRANT PART 05

NORMAL POV

CAFETERIA

"AHH DORM LEADER!" Ace cried out. Everyone looked to see standing behind them was the head of Heartslabyul dorm, Riddle Rosehearts.

The Akari sisters and Grim, stayed quiet and observed the Dorm Leader. He had red, mid-length hair that curves inward, V-shaped bangs covering his forehead, side bangs, and two strands of hair forming a heart on top of his head. His silver eyes had a stern look and a deep frown mark upon his face as he glared at Ace.

Cater, sensing the forboding tension decides to speak up in order to lighten the mood by cheerily saying, "Oh my, Riddle. You're super crazy cute today~"

Riddle, turned to look at Cater with a rather unimpressed look as he said, "Hmph, Cater. If you talk too much it's going to cost you your head."

"Hey now, gimme a break." Cater laughed nervously, a sweat falling down to the side of his cheek as he knew Riddle's threats were no joke.

"Ffgnnnaa! This is the guy who put that weird collar on me during the entrance exam!" Grim cried out angrily.

Tsukiko quickly grabbed the feline monster before it could pounce at Riddle, whispering nervously, "Shhh…. Take it easy, Grim!"

Riddle then turned to the girls, Grim and Deuce's direction as he continued, "You're the freshmen that caused all that fuss of expulsion yesterday. Will you knock it off, calling someone's unique magic 'a weird collar'?" His frown even deepened as he gazed towards Himari's direction adding, "and you're the rather unruly girl who caused quite a scene in the entrance ceremony."

Himari frowned and glared back at the red-headed student who shook his head in disappointment as he said "For goodness sake. The headmaster is soft. If you forgive rule breakers the whole system will collapse."

"Oh…" Himari said looking unimpress and a little annoyed, "and what do you think is the best way of dealing with such rule-breakers, huh?"

Riddle looked at her with a now haughty stare saying "Simple, all you need to do is cut the head off of those who don't follow the rules."

Tsukiko gasped looking horrified, while Hoshiko blankly stared at him. If Grim's mouth wasn't covered by Tsukiko's hands he would have colorful words to say to Riddle.

Ace just shook his head as he muttered, "The things coming out of his mouth don't suit his looks…."

As if hearing what Ace was muttering, Riddle looked at Ace as he said in a warning tone, "The headmaster appears to have forgiven you but make no mistake, the next time it happens, I will not."

Ace gulped and nodded as beads of sweat began to show. He then laughed and smiled nervously as he said, "… By the way, dorm leader. Is there any way… you could say, remove this collar?"

"I was going to, if you have learned your lesson but ..." Riddle crossed his arms and glared at Ace saying, "The way you were just talking shows that you haven't at all. Keep it on for a little while." Seeing the look of disappointment on the freshman's face, Riddle added cooly, "Don't worry. As first years you'll only be learning fundamentals, not actually using magic. You also won't be able to cause a scene like yesterday. Isn't that great."

Himari's frown changed to slightly gritted teeth and clenched her fist. Sure, what Ace did was wrong, she though, but hasn't he been punished enough?

Riddle then said dismissively, "Now don't just sit around chatting away. Finish lunch and head to your next class. Laws of the Queen of Hearts, No. 271: One should eat lunch and leave their seat within 15 minutes. If you break the rules…." He then narrowed his eyes saying, "I'm sure you understand?"

"Hah…." Ace muttered again, "Another weird rule."

"The answer is, 'YES, DORM LEADER'!" Riddle said in another calm but warning tone.

"YES, DORM LEADER!" Both Ace and Deuce said in unison and standing up straight like a pair of soldiers.

Hoshiko whispered, "Wow… he's like a mini general." Tsukiko gently shushed her younger sister.

"Very good." Riddle nodded looking more satisfied.

"I'll look after them for you." Trey said re-assuringly.

"Hmmm… You're the vice dorm leader so I expect you to not act foolishly." Riddle said to Trey.

As he turned to leave, someone called out, "Hold on a second…."

All turned with a mixture of surprise and horror, as Himari stood up and walked straight towards Riddle.

"Neesan?" Tsukiko whispered in nervousness.

"Yes?" Riddle asked in a cold voice, crossing his arms and looking up a bit at the golden-haired girl who was standing in front of him and also crossing her arms.

"Listen, I know that idiot did something wrong…" Himari began in a calm but stern tone.

"Hey!?" Ace cried out looking offended.

"But…" Himari continued, "He did head back towards your dorm this morning to properly apologize, but Carrot-top over there prevented him to do so." She pointed her thumb towards Cater.

"Eh!? C-Carrot Top?!" Cater exclaimed.

"Look… the point is, I think Ace already learned his lesson, and it is his 1st offense…." Himari said still looking at Riddle, "Don't you think you can just forgive the guy and let him off with a warning."

"Hima…." Ace whispered looking rather surprised and touched.

Riddle looked at her before scoffing out, "Really? Is that all you had to say? Well, you clearly wasted both yours and my time with such nonsense."

Both Tsukiko and Hoshiko gasped and looked on now even more worried as they could predict what would happen next.

Himari widened her eyes and gritted her teeth as her hands clenching on her sleeves. She took a deep breath before saying in a calmer (but already more sarcastic tone) "Really… well I do apologize for wasting your time, I didn't realize that looking out for the welfare of your fellow classmates was not actually part of the oh so great Dorm Leader's task."

The whole room now grew silent as the other students watched the scene unfolding before them.

Riddle face began to grow red as he said in a low and rather more menacing voice, "You, my dear have such nerve, as a lowly freshman to speak to a Dorm Leader in that manner. If you were in my dorm, I would have your head."

Both Trey and Cater gulped nervously as they can already see Riddle slowly looking his cool.

Himari then raised an eyebrow before saying, "Ooooh… so now we're talking about student's status here then…" The eldest Akari sister lips formed into a haughty and yet proud smile as she declared, "Well then….. Allow me to introduce myself…. I'm Ramshackle's Dorm Leader, Himari Akari!"

"…."

"EEEEEHHHH!?" Everyone cried out in shock.

Even Riddle looked rather shocked. Before he regained his composure and his cold demeanor returned, "So… you're…. the Dorm Leader of that run down estate?"

Himari smirked as she continued, "That's right… I am… Do you have any problems with that, huh?!"

"What is she thinking?!" Trey thought looking even worried now.

Riddle was silently glaring at Himari, who returned the stare. The red-headed leader of Heartslabyul began to say in a sterner tone, "Very well…. Allow me then to give you a friendly advice, One Dorm leader to another. You should try to focus more on keeping your own unruly residents from causing any more trouble," He gave a glance at Grim, "than wasting your time over my residents. Upholding the Rules and Traditions is the only way to establish ourselves better in society." He took out his pocket watch and tsked in annoyance as he said, "Well I will take my leave. Following the Laws of the Queen of Hearts, No. 339, 'AFTER FINISHING A MEAL, ONE MUST ALWAYS DRINK LEMON TEA WITH TWO SUGARS'. I must go buy sugar cubes from the school store, so I'll be on my way." Despite the tension, Riddle (being a gentlemen that he is) gave a short bow to Himari before turning and walking away muttering, "Letting the sugar cubes run out is a huge offense, I can't believe it…."

Himari frowned as she stared at the red-head, but then in a brief moment began to see and hear black droplets falling and pooling into one small dark puddle. Himari blinked in surprise as she muttered, "What was that just now?"

"Ho Boy…." Cater sighed in relief "That was really close."

"That guy was obnoxious!" Grim huffed out angrily.

"Whoa… that's Rude!" Deuce said to Grim.

"Neesan… are you all right?" Tsukiko asked worriedly.

"H-Huh…. Oh yeah… I'm ok…." Himari said giving a reassuring smile to her younger sister. Tsukiko still knew Himari saw or knew something; but decided to nod and stay silent.

"So Big Sis is now a Dorm Leader?" Hoshiko teased in a sing song voice.

Himari realizing what she just said, blushed and scratched the back of her head while crying out, "Ahhh… S-Sorry girls! I didn't mean to take charge or like that… that guy made me so mad so I… well…"

Both Hoshiko and Tsukiko giggled heartedly before smiling at their older sister and saying, "It's fine Nee-san. We think you're perfect for that role."

"Yeah!" Hoshiko chirped in, "Since we are a Dorm house, it's only right that you be our Dorm Leader, then Tsuki-nee will be the vice dorm leader…"

"And what does that make you and Grim?" Himari asked.

Hoshiko gave her most charming smile and a wink while saying, "that's easy.. I'm your kawaii freshman resident and Grim chan is our official mascot!"

"I'M NOT SOME FREAKING MASCOT!" Grim snapped at Hoshiko, "Why should she be the leader?! If anything, I the Great Grim should be the one in charge!"

"Ooooh…"Himari said in an eerie tone looking down at the feline monster with a challenging look, "So you want to be in charge?"

Grim's hair bristled with fright as he looked up at the Blond-haired sister. He gulped and shook his head as he said, "Eh hehehe…. Nah… it's ok… you can be in charge…."

"Ok then, "Himari said smiling at her sisters and Grim.

Both Ace and Deuce just sighed.

"Ah hahaha…" Cater laughed out taking various shots of the Akari sisters… "They're soo funny and cute!"

Trey couldn't help but smile as well at the situation.

Suddenly two other students from Heartslabyul approached them and nervously asked, "D-Did the Dorm Leader leave?"

The other student said in a more scared tone, "I… broke the Laws of the Queen of Hearts, No. 186, 'ONE MUST NEVER EAT A HAMBURGER STEAK ON TUESDAY'. I was terrified of what would happen if he found out I ate one."

"Ugh…. At least let us eat whatever we want…." The first student complained.

Both Trey and Cater just silently listened to the student's concern before assuring them they wont get in trouble. As both of the student left, Himari frowned and said to Trey, "It looks like there are other students who don't seem to like your Dorm leader."

Trey shook his head as he said, "In his 1st week at school, Riddle took the seat of dorm leader. He speaks harshly but he's trying to make the dorm better. He doesn't have any bad intentions."

Grim sarcastically said, "Someone with good intentions doesn't randomly collar people!"

Both Cater and Trey laughed apologetically while Himari sternly looked at the monster and said, "May I remind you Grim that it was your fault for going crazy during the ceremony."

The feline cat crossed its arms and huffed out, "Grr… but that collar cuts off your magic. It's horrible and sucks!"

"Hmm? You mean Riddle's unique magic?" Cater asked.

"Unique Magic?" All 3 sisters asked.

"Unique…."Deuce said while trying to remember, "means that it's magic that only he can use?"

Trey nodded as he explained, "It's magic that's strictly limited to one person…. Simply put, it's magic that reflects the character of the user that only they can use, so 'UNIQUE MAGIC'."

"Oooohh…." The sisters said in awe.

"You'll learn about it in class eventually." Trey said to the freshmens.

"Riddle's unique magic lets him seal another person's magic for a fixed amount of time." Cater added, "it's called…."

"OFF WITH YOUR HEAD"

Grim jumped in fright and quickly scrambled towards Tsukiko's arms. "EEP! Just the name is terrifying!"

Cater nodded as he continued, "As a wizard, having your magic sealed hurts like losing your head. Therefore, you shouldn't break Riddle's rules inside the dorm."

Trey nodded again saying reassuringly, "It also means he isn't scary if you follow the rules."

As the three sisters listened to both Cater and Treys, explanation, they looked at each other and all felt the same feeling of uncertainty with how Riddle runs his dorm.

Ace then asked, "So what you're saying is that I have to go buy a tart or Cater will kick me out again?"

Himari looked at Ace and said in a deadpanned voice, "After all that explanation, You, really had to go to the part you're more concerned with."

Ace glared back at her before looking again at Cater.

"That's right." Cater said, "As decided by Laws of the Queen of Hearts, No. 53. In particular, Riddle really looks forward to eating the first piece of a whole tart so… He won't forgive you unless it's whole."

"Ahhh…" Himari said now understanding more of the situation, "So to put it simply, Ace needs to bribe Riddle into forgiving him with just a tart… all because that guy has a sweet tooth!"

"N-Neesan!?" Tsukiko exclaimed.

Both Trey and Cater again laughed as there was truth to what Himari just said.

Ace frowned and looked at Cater saying, "You said you want to be friends so can't you just overlook that!"

"That is that, and this is this." Cater said.

"But aren't whole tarts pretty expensive?" Deuce asked.

"Blegh… I don't have that kind of money." Ace said in a defeated tone.

"Then how about making one instead?" Hoshiko suggested.

Ace looked at Hoshiko in a more defeated look as he said, "Ugh… how can that help? I don't even know how to make one!"

"Actually, Hoshiko-chan's suggestion isn't so bad." Cater said, "In fact, the other Tarts were all made by Trey."

All the freshmen looked at Trey with amazement. "That's amazing, sempai!" Tsukiko said in delight.

Ace cried out in shock, "Trey, you made that tart? Amazing! It was as good as a pro's."

Himari's eyes sparkled as she said, "Aw man… now I wanna try some of it also!"

Trey smiled and said, "Hahaha… thank you. It's true I have all the tools and seasonings…. I won't help you for free."

"What?! I have to pay for it?!" Ace exclaimed looking a bit taken back.

Trey again laughed in good nature as he said, "I'm not gonna squeeze money out of underclassmen." He then continued, "If we're going to make the tart Riddle want's to eat next, we need a lot of chestnuts. Could you gather them for me?"

"Either way is a pain." Ace grumble. Himari flicked his forehead with her fingers as she said, "Quit complaining, you dolt… can't you see the guy's offering you a solution to your problem!"

Ace grumbled and glared at Himari before looking at Trey and asked, "Well… how many do you need?"

"To make it for the Unbirthday Party we'll need… about 2 – 300, I think."

"THAT MANY!?" Himari, Deuce, and Grim cried out in shock.

"Oh my…" Tsukiko whispered looking just as surprised. Hoshiko just breathed out, "Whoa!"

Trey nodded as he said, "Then I'll have you roast them and remove the outer shell to take out the nut."

"Ugh… can I go home?" Grim muttered.

"Me too…" Deuce said.

"Maybe it's better we just focus on our own Dorm right girls?" Himari laughed out nervously.

Both Tsukiko and Hoshiko just laughed along with her.

Ace glared at them and growled out, "Traitors!"

"You know…" Cater said, "tarts that everyone makes together are always the best. You know, to make memories? You might even make your debut as a food blogger."

"Well…." Tsukiko said looking at her sisters, "The headmaster did say we need to make memories here at our school, maybe now is the best time to start."

Trey smiled and said, "Keep it a secret from Riddle, but freshly baked mont blac is the most delicious. Only those who help make it get to try some."

Himari paused and thought for a while before clearing her throat and stammered embarrassed, "W-w-well… I guess it wouldn't hurt to help out in the baking…."

"Ooh ooh ooh!" Grim cried out excitedly, "Let's get a move on! We're gonna pick chestnut, after chestnut, after chestnut!"

Hoshiko giggled and said in glee, "Wow Hima-nee... Grim-chan… both of you sure changed your tune quickly!"

Himari blushed further as she cried out, "Oh be quiet Hoshii!"

Tsukiko smiled and looked at Trey to ask, "So senpai… where will we go to gather the chestnuts?"

Trey smiled at the 2nd sister saying, "There should be plenty of chestnut trees in the forest behind the campus botanical garden."

Tsukiko's eyes lit up as she said, "A botanical garden? The school has one!? Ooh… I love to see that!"

"Well then, count me in to help!" Deuce cried out looking at Tsukiko with an eager smile.

Ace said, "Then let's all meet up after class in front of the botanical garden then."

All the Freshmen smiled and nodded as Grim cried out, "Go go go Chestnut picking!"

(SAVANACLAW TABLE)

"Heh! Get a load of those Wimpy freshmens!" One of the Savanaclaw students remarked. "especially those girls… they look tasty to take a bite into hehehe!"

"Leave them alone…. They're just girls."

"Geez don't be such a buzzkill, Jack!" said another Savanaclaw student.

"Maybe he wants to have the first taste himself, hehehe" The other student joked.

Jack just ignored them and went back to eating his lunch. Not without stealing a glance at the sisters who smelled rather different compared to the last time he saw them.

(OCTAVANELLE TABLE)

Azul Ashengrotto observed the new students carefully, especially the 3 sisters. He couldn't help but smirk with interest over witnessing the face-off between the blond-haired sister and the dorm leader of Heartslablyul. Hearing the girl announcing her position as Dorm leader of Ramshackle, He then took mental note of it, knowing full well he will be able to make use of this information for his grand scheme in the future.

"Aww… come on, Jamil….pleeaase…."

"No! Leave them be!"

"But I wanted to thank that cute girl with the ponytails for helping me out last time!"

"Again, no…. you saw what happened when Cater got too close to that girl. Do you want to face the wrath of her sister?"

"Eeeehhh… her sister is really scary…. But…."

"No! Just finish your lunch, Kalim!"

"Sigh…. Fiiine!"

(POMFEFIORE TABLE)

"Aaah…. Manifique…. Such Beauty… such elegance. We are truly blessed to have such lovely ladies here in our school. Do you not agree, little Epel?"

"Oh…Ah… yes…." The female looking Epel said in a small shy tone, taking shy and curious glances at the girls especially at young Hoshiko who was giggling and chatting with her sisters.

(DIASOMNIA TABLE)

"Fufufufu… what a rather interesting bunch."

"Lilia-sama, why did you have to go over there? It is clear those humans are nothing more than troublemakers, especially that female with the blond hair! We saw how she behaved during the ceremony. It is rather fortunate that Lord Malleus was not there to witness such rowdy behaviour."

"Now, now, Sebek…. Let us be kind… after all they are the same as you who has just started here in this school. Let us all get along with them…" Lilia said smiling.

Lilia Vanrouge looked back at the 3 girls, while smiling more mysteriously. "Yes…. They are rather interesting…" he thought, his ruby eyes soon gazed towards the 3 gemstones giving a small and etherial glow. His smile growing even wider as he thought, "Malleus must definitely meet them soon…. The lovely keepers of the Trinity of Light."
