The last chapter was the beginning of a multi part story, so here is everything you need to know for the upcoming chapters.
Kaoru (17)- the spirited and willful daughter of a wealthy daimyo, and the niece of the powerful General Saito of Mibu. Being used as bargaining chip in the war between Mibu and Choshu. Wants to humiliate her childhood crush Yukishiro Enishi by publicly refusing his marriage offer. Can't resist getting into trouble. A general menace to society.
Kenshin (20)- Known as Battousai and believed to be a demon. The most feared warrior in the Choshu faction. Five years earlier, he was engaged to the beautiful Yukishiro Tomoe, who he was infatuated with, and made a vow to fight and protect her. Tomoe ended up eloping with someone else and Kenshin realized that his feelings for her were shallow and immature. But he's now stuck fighting in a war he doesn't want to fight, where he's killed countless people and is seen as a blood thirsty monster, because of a vow he made when he was a dumb fifteen-year-old.
Tomoe (23)- Kenshin's former fiancée. The daughter of an unimportant samurai but the niece of the powerful Takeda Kanyruu. Her elopement with General Saito's son, Akira, kicked off the conflict between Choshu and Mibu. Little Miss Perfect and no one in Mibu really likes her. Especially not Kaoru.
Enishi (19)- Kenshin's main rival in the Choshu faction. Has a weird fixation with his older sister, Tomoe. Was the one to raise a stink when Tomoe eloped with Akira. Challenged Akira to a duel and demands that the Mibu faction give him Kaoru's hand in marriage. Kaoru had a crush on him when they were kids but he treated her like dirt, so she decided "f* this guy." Marrying Battousai the demon is better than marrying this a*hole.
Sanosuke (19) and Yahiko (14)- Kaoru's brothers. Over-protective dumbasses. Menaces to society like their sister. Follow in the proud Kamiya tradition of being dumb and causing trouble.
Megumi (22)- A wealthy heiress. Kaoru's sister-in-law (married to Sanosuke) and fellow mean girl of Mibu.
Aoishi (26) and Akira (25)- sons of General Saito of Mibu and cousins to the Kamiyas. Akira is married to Tomoe and started the war by eloping with her. Aoishi believes he posses the only brain cells in the family (he doesn't).
