Last time on Pokemon Super: Sun & Moon, both Ash and Cabba started going to the Pokemon School in Melemele Island. They've learned that their friends there, mainly, Xandra are trying to find seven magical orbs known as Dragon Balls. It's said that when all seven are together, they can summon an Eternal Dragon and get a single wish granted. After school, the two boys learned about Chimchar's deceased trainer, Lucas...as well as the destruction of Cabba's race and home planet of Sadala. The next day, Mallow and the others threw an Alolan surprise party for both Ash and Cabba which ended with the two of them battling against Tapu Koko, the guardian of Melemele Island. After the battle, they both decided to take part in the Island Challenge with their friends supporting them! It's a brand new day and who knows what our boys will do today!
Loading the Dex
"Time to eat." Ash said. It was a day after their battle with Tapu Koko and Ash and Cabba were beginning it with a good breakfast.
"Pika!" Pikachu agreed and ate a berry.
As the two boys and three Pokemon ate, Professor Kukui walked over to Ash and Cabba with something in his hand. "Ash, Cabba? A present for both of you." He held out a red device to them.
Cabba swallowed his meal. "Thanks, Professor. What is it?"
"It's a Pokedex." Professor Kukui answered.
In happiness, Ash held the device. "Whoa! Yeah!"
"Uh, sorry for asking, but what's a Pokedex?" Cabba asked in confusion.
"A Pokedex is an electronic device made to provide information on various Pokemon found throughout the world." Professor Kukui answered the Saiyan's question. "Now, let's activate the Pokedex."
Both Ash and Cabba agreed. They and the three Pokemon followed the professor to his work room in order to get the Pokedex activated. The Alolan professor turned his system on to see if it would have any problems or not. He smiled once it showed that there was no errors at all. "Perfect! We're all connected!"
Suddenly, the lights started to flicker on and off. Ash, Cabba, Pikachu, Chimchar, and Rockruff looked around in surprise. "What's going on with the lights?" The Saiyan even asked.
Professor Kukui chuckled. "Here it comes!" Ash cocked his head to the side. "What?" The lights kept flickering, scaring Rockruff as he whimpered next to the Kanto Trainer.
"Exactly what's coming, Professor?" Cabba asked. "Just watch, you'll see." Professor Kukui answered. Then something came out of one of the plug sockets, going wild and zipping around the room.
Ash recognized as a Pokemon he's seen before in his past journeys. "It's a Rotom!" "Rotom?" Cabba asked in confusion.
"Now, we just have to wait for Rotom to go inside." Professor Kukui told them.
"Go inside? Of what?" Cabba asked.
Rotom stopped and took notice of the Pokedex in Ash's hands. It zipped its way down before going inside the device, much to the shock of Ash and Cabba. Pikachu, Chimchar, and Rockruff watched it too, in both surprise and interest.
Ash looked at the Pokedex, but nothing was happening. "Is Rotom...in there? Hm...Hey, Rotom!" After that, the device started to beep. The two of them blinked in surprise as they saw a pulse line on the Pokedex, then a pair of eyes blinked from the device itself. The two boys were shocked by this and Ash dropped the Pokedex...which after being let go just floated in front of them.
While floating, the Pokedex revealed a face and popped out arms and legs. Cabba blinked a couple more time. "What's going on?" "The Pokedex is Rotom, and Rotom is the Pokedex!" Ash exclaimed.
The Pokemon in the Pokedex was gathering data as it scanned the excited Rockruff, the sweat dropping Chimchar, and the amazed Pikachu. It even scanned both Ash and Cabba.
"Alola, Rotom!/Pika Pika!" Both Ash and Pikachu greeted the Pokemon in the Pokedex. "Yes, Alola!/Char Chim!" Cabba and Chimchar smiled and greeted the Pokemon.
To their surprise, Rotom buzzed in his own greeting from inside the Pokedex. "Language selection complete."
"Wow! Rotom just talked!" Ash exclaimed. Cabba smiled as he took a guess. "I think since Rotom's inside the Pokedex that he's able to speak to us."
Professor Kukui waved his hand to the the direction of the boys. "Rotom, please lend Ash and Cabba from now on, okay?"
"Understood! Ash! Cabba! User registration complete! Pokedex now booting up...100%! Alola! Nice to meet you, Ash and Cabba!" Rotom buzzed.
"Wow, we can even have a conversation." Ash said in awe. "Of course. Rotom-Dex is equipped with an assortment of languages." Rotom explained.
Cabba smiled. "So that means you can talk to other people in different parts of the world, right?" "That's correct." Rotom answered.
"That's awesome!" Ash exclaimed. "Awesome...Does not compute." Rotom suddenly buzzed in confusion.
Ash blinked in confusion. "I don't think he get's the compliment." Cabba whispered to him, causing the Kanto Trainer to smile sheepishly.
Luckily, Professor Kukui explained it to Rotom. "Ash was just saying that he's very impressed with your capabilities."
Seems like Rotom understood now. "I understand. So, awesome means excellent. And that means that Rotom-Dex is excellent!"
Cabba laughed a little. "You're right, you are excellent! There was never anything like this back on Planet Sadala."
Rotom-Dex tilted his body in confusion. "Planet Sadala does not compute." Cabba smiled and sweat dropped a little. "I'll explain later."
Professor Kukui laughed. "Believe it or not, I'm a professor. Professor Kukui. You'll be a great help."
"Pleased to meet you, Professor Kukui! And you two as well, Ash and Cabba!" Rotom buzzed.
Ash smiled. "Hey, thanks. And this is my friend, Pikachu." "Pikachu!" Pikachu greeted the Pokemon.
Cabba turned his eyes to the Fire-Type on his left shoulder. "And this is my new friend, Chimchar." Chimchar waved to Rotom-Dex. "Chimchar!"
"Ash, Cabba, Pikachu, and Chimchar are staying at my place, along with Rockruff." Professor Kukui mentioned. "Ruff!" Rockruff barked.
"Pleased to meet you, Pikachu and Chimchar, and you too, Rockruff." Rotom turned himself around to take a picture, confusing Ash and Pikachu. Cabba and Chimchar tilted their heads before Rockruff was added to the picture. "Pictures taken! Pikachu, Chimchar, Rockruff."
"So, wait...why did you take a picture?" Ash asked in curiosity.
"In order to add the images of the Pokemon I meet to my memory." Rotom buzzed his answer. "The Rotom-Dex is a self-learning Pokedex that updates its data each and every time when it meets a new Pokemon."
While Ash was bewildered, Cabba understood what Rotom-Dex was trying to say. "So, the more Pokemon you meet and take pictures of, the more up to date the Rotom-Dex will become?"
"That's correct, User Cabba! I am not simply Rotom now. In fact, I am now Rotom-Dex! Which means I am the Pokedex, Rotom version!" Rotom answered.
Ash was still bewildered. "Hold on...Pokedex? Rotom...version...uh..."
Both Cabba and Rotom sweat dropped a little, seeing how Ash was having a hard time following the names the Pokemon-Pokedex gave himself. "Very well...You can just simply call me Rotom-Dex, User Ash and User Cabba." Rotom-Dex buzzed.
"You can just call us by our names, Rotom-Dex. I'm fine with just Cabba." Cabba corrected with a small smile. "Yeah, and you can just call me Ash. That'll make it easier to say, won't it?" Ash asked.
"I understand, Ash and Cabba." Rotom replied. Ash made a little request to his new Pokedex friend. "Hey, Rotom-Dex? I want to hear how you describe Pikachu in the Rotom-Dex. Can you do that?" Pikachu agreed with his trainer. "Pika Pika!"
Rotom happily buzzed. "Right away, Ash! Pikachu, the Mouse Pokemon, an Electric-Type. It uses its tail to sense its surroundings. If you pull on its tail, it will bite." Rotom floated over and pulled on Pikachu's tail.
However, instead of biting, Pikachu released his Thunderbolt attack, shocking both Ash and Rotom. "What's going on!?" Professor Kukui ran to get a closer...only to get shocked as well while Cabba, Chimchar, and Rockruff watched on.
"It doesn't bite you! It actually shocks you!" Rotom yelled in pain. Once Pikachu was done, the Thunderbolt victims staggered and slumped down to the floor.
Cabba blinked a couple of times before hesitantly mad a request of his own. "Um, Rotom-Dex? If you're feeling well enough...can you give us your description of Chimchar, please?"
"A-As you wish, Cabba." Rotom floated back up before showing an image of a Chimchar on his screen. "Chimchar, the Chimp Pokemon, a Fire-Type. It agilely scales sheer cliffs to live atop craggy mountains. Its fire is put out when it sleeps."
Chimchar nodded with a satisfied look on his face. "Chim Chimchar."
"Thank you." Cabba looked at Ash and Professor Kukui again. The two of them were still twitching in pain from the Thunderbolt attack. "Next time though, you can just describe a Pokemon with your words, you don't have to give us a demonstration."
"Understood." Rotom buzzed. Pikachu realized that he went too far and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Pika."
Once they got to the Pokemon School, Ash and Cabba introduced Rotom-Dex to Mallow, Lillie, Lana, Xandra, Sophocles, and Kiawe. They all seem cool about meeting the Pokemon in the Pokedex.
"Hi, Rotom! My name is Mallow, nice to meet you." Mallow greeted. "Nice to meet you." Lana timidly said. "Nice to meet you." Rotom greeted back.
"A Pokedex operating with a Pokemon inside? That's incredible!" Lillie exclaimed, expressing her interest in the Rotom-Dex.
"Incredible? Incredible means...awesome! In other words, Rotom-Dex is...awesome!" Rotom-Dex defined 'incredible' for himself.
Lillie gave him a sweet smile. "Yes, you're very awesome."
Sophocles walked over to Rotom with a mischievous smirk on his face. "Ah! So it obviously learned on how Ash and Cabba talk. I wonder just how this Rotom-Dex is programmed. I'm going to analyze your programming for just a second, alright?" He even twirled the screwdriver in his hand a little.
Rotom immediately shook his head. "No! Thank you!" That only made Sophocles even more sneaky. "Aw, come on! Don't be like that, please? Just a look, hm?"
"No! I refuse! I refuse!" Rotom frantically said. He quickly flew to Cabba and hid behind the Saiyan's head.
Xandra walked over and placed a hand on her friend's shoulder. "Take it easy, Sophocles. We only just met Rotom."
A familiar chuckle caught everyone's attention. They turned to see Principle Oak coming into the classroom with Professor Kukui. "Oh, a Rotom-Dex! Well, you seem to have quite an interest in that item there."
Cabba smiled and gave a polite bow to the principle. "Alola, Principle Oak."
"This is the principle of the Pokemon School, Principle Oak." Ash introduced the principle to Rotom-Dex.
Rotom nodded and flew closer to the principle. "Pleased to meet you." Principle Oak was surprised, but he was also amazed as well. "Hi hi, Psyduck! Arbok!" He made imitations of two Pokemon called Psyduck and Arbok.
"What is 'Hi hi, Psyduck! Arbok!'? Does not compute. Does not compute." Rotom buzzed in confusion.
Mallow stepped up to explain. "Don't worry about it, it's simply his way of saying hello. The principle is always making Pokemon gags."
"Making Pokemon gags?" Rotom began to say the same imitation that the principle just said. "Excellent! I think you're getting the hang of it!" Principle Oak chuckled.
"I'm not Dragonized down! As a matter of fact, I'm Claunchering off, Inkay? Wooper-dee-do!" Rotom happily buzzed. However, Chimchar just groaned and facepalmed himself.
"Oh, I really like the cut of your gibberish! So, Wynaut stay with us for Mawile?" Principle Oak made more Pokemon imitations, going back and forth with Rotom. The students looked on while sweat dropping, Xandra sighed while Kiawe shook his head in annoyance.
Once the imitation back and forth was done, Professor Kukui began to explain what today's class is going to be. "Alright, class. For today, let's do some fieldwork! So, Ash, Cabba, now that the two of you have gotten a Rotom-Dex, let's catch a wild Pokemon!"
While Cabba tilted his head, some of his classmates cheered for the fieldwork. "I absolutely adore fieldwork!" Mallow happily said. "Bounsweet!" Bounsweet voiced her agreement.
"Catch wild Pokemon? How do we do that?" Cabba asked in confusion.
"By using one of these." Xandra held up an empty Poke Ball.
The Saiyan kinda recognized a ball like that before. "I remember seeing that. You guys threw them and your Pokemon came out."
"That's because these are Poke Balls, silly! When you're battling a wild Pokemon, you can catch it with a Poke Ball like this and they'll become your friend and ally." Xandra explained. Muddy got on her shoulder. "Mud Mudkip!"
"For Ash and Cabba, the Alola Pokemon will be a new challenge. We have a Destiny Bond to help them out." Professor Kukui added.
Rotom buzzed up. "Destiny Bond, a Ghost-Type move. When a Pokemon faints after using this move, the opponent that landed the knockout blow also faints." Most of the students were surprised, but Kiawe kept his not impressed look on his face.
Professor Kukui was quite impressed. "Rotom-Dex, that was excellent."
"For Pokemon information, you can count on me!" Rotom buzzed in confidence.
Cabba smiled while putting his backpack on. "Glad to have you with us, Rotom." Ash did the same. "Let's go, Rotom-Dex!" Ash was the first to run out, followed by Cabba. Pikachu and Chimchar were still on their respective trainer's shoulders. "Understood!" Rotom floated after them. Kiawe, Mallow, Lana, Xandra, Lillie, and Sophocles followed after them, leaving the professor and the principle in the classroom.
The class began to go into the forest near the Pokemon School for the fieldwork.
As he walked alongside his classmates, Cabba looked around the forest and he couldn't help but smile a little.
"Hey, Cabba?" The Saiyan turned his head to Ash who spoke up. "Isn't this the same forest where me and Pikachu bumped into you?"
"Yes, it is." Cabba nodded.
Mallow raised an eyebrow. "You bumped into Cabba here?" She turned to the Saiyan. "Exactly what were you doing here before you met Ash?"
Cabba shrugged. "Nothing. I was just walking around with some friendly Pokemon that found me."
"Found you where exactly?" Kiawe asked.
Cabba looked ahead and saw something familiar. "Over there!" The nine of them went over and stopped in front of a crater...the same one Cabba's space pod made.
"Whoa! What could've made a crater like this?" Sophocles asked.
Cabba smiled sheepishly. "Uh...that would be me. This is where my space pod crashed while landing on this planet."
"What space pod?" Lana asked. Cabba pointed at the crater. "That space pod." The others looked at the center of the crater, and they saw a damaged pod still sitting there.
Xandra blinked a couple of times. "Wait, is that some sort of...spaceship?" Cabba nodded. "Yep."
"And you were in it?" Lillie asked. "I was." Cabba answered.
Ash realized something. "So, this is how you got here all the way from Sadala?" "That's correct." Cabba answered.
"Again with Sadala? Does not compute." Rotom buzzed in confusion.
Sophocles' eyes began to widen when something came to his mind. "Wait a minute...person with a tail...no clue on Pokemon...strange clothing..." Slowly, he turned his head to the Saiyan next to him. "Cabba, are you some kind of alien or something?" The others, minus Ash, Pikachu, and Chimchar raised an eyebrow while looking at their chubby friend.
"Don't be ridiculous, Sophocles. Cabba looks as human as the rest of us. I'm sure that tail of his is just a birth defect." Kiawe said.
"Um, actually, he's right." Cabba hesitated to reply. "I'm not a human, I'm a Saiyan." Most of them were shocked by Cabba's reply.
Ash raised his hand. "It's true, I can vouch for it." Pikachu and Chimchar raised their paws as well. "Pika./Chim."
Lana looked at Cabba. "Interesting, an actual alien that goes to the same school as us." Popplio nodded her head. "Pop."
"A...Saiyan?" Rotom asked. "Well, I guess that explains a couple of things." Xandra mentioned.
While the students were talking, someone was looking down at them from a tree branch. That something happened to be a Pikipek. The Woodpecker Pokemon was just minding his own business and pecking on a tree when the students came by. Now Pikipek was curiously watching over them when one of them caught his eye. He was surprised to see the same tailed boy he met the other day among the group, but he still smiled anyway.
"So...you're really from another planet?" Mallow asked. "Well, what are you doing here?"
Cabba hesitated to answer that, but before he could speak... "Pek! Piki!" A Pokemon cry suddenly made them look around.
"What was that?" Cabba asked. Soon, he felt something land on his right shoulder. He, Chimchar and the others looked to see that Pikipek was now on the Saiyan's shoulder, smiling at him. "Pikipek!"
"Oh, it's just a Pikipek." Kiawe said. Ash raised a confused eyebrow. "A Pikipek?"
Rotom gladly floated up. "Let me show you! Pikipek, the Woodpecker Pokemon, a Normal and Flying-Type. It can unleash 16 pecks per second to drill a hole into a tree where it stores food."
Mallow raised an eyebrow at the Woodpecker Pokemon. "Hold it, something seems different about that Pikipek."
Lillie took a closer look and realized something about Pikipek. "You're right. The Pikipek on Cabba's shoulder has a pink stripe on his head and green eyes! I've seen pictures of Pikipek before and they all had red stripes and blue eyes."
"If that's the case, then we must be looking at a rare Shiny Pokemon!" Sophocles exclaimed.
"Shiny Pokemon?" Cabba asked.
"A Pokemon that's a different color than the ones you would normally find." Xandra answered.
Ash smiled. "Yeah, I remember I caught a Shiny Pokemon myself back in Johto. Only it was a Noctowl." He began to wonder how Noctowl was doing back in Professor Oak's Lab in Kanto.
Lana giggled a bit. "Well, Pikipek seems to like you, Cabba."
Cabba looked at Pikipek again, then he began to remember seeing him before. "Hey, I know you. You're one of the Pokemon that I met after I got out of my space pod. Good to see you again." He gently ran his finger through Pikipek's head.
The Shiny Woodpecker Pokemon seemed to enjoy the petting from the Saiyan. "Piki!"
Xandra grinned when an idea came to her. "Hey, Cabba. Since we're doing fieldwork today, why don't you try an catch that Pikipek?"
Cabba was surprised by the offer. "Are you sure?"
"Of course." Xandra nodded. "Mudkip!" Muddy agreed.
Kiawe sided with Xandra. "That Pikipek does seem to like you, so it only makes sense."
Ash grinned. "Yeah! I wanna see you catch your first Pokemon!" "Pika Pikachu!" Pikachu agreed.
"It's great to make new friends with the Pokemon you meet here." Lana said with a smile. "Pop Popplio!" Popplio clapped her paws together.
Cabba looked back at Pikipek. "Well, what do you say, Pikipek? You want to come with us?"
Pikipek's eyes lighten up at the offer. "Pek Pikipek!"
"In order to catch a wild Pokemon, you have to throw a Poke Ball at it after it's been exhausted in battle. Pokemon battle basics." Rotom-Dex explained to the Saiyan.
"Poke Ball?" Cabba remembered that Professor Kukui gave him at least five just before they left the house. He turned back to Pikipek with a smile. "Hey, what do you say about battling against me and Chimchar first?"
Pikipek nodded with a smirk. He flew in front of Cabba and Chimchar. "Pek."
Cabba nodded and turned his head to Chimchar. "Chimchar, let's try our best to catch Pikipek!" Chimchar nodded. "Char!" The Chimp Pokemon got off Cabba's shoulder and got ready for battle.
"Good luck, Cabba and Chimchar!" Mallow cheered. "Sweet!" Bounsweet also cheered.
"Chimchar, let's start with Ember!" Cabba's command got the battle started. Chimchar took a deep breath and fired his Ember attack on Pikipek. The Woodpecker Pokemon took the hit and skidded back a bit, but he quickly flew at Chimchar and used his beak to peck him multiple times.
"What's that?" Cabba asked. "That's Pikipek's Peck attack!" Sophocles answered.
Cabba growled a little. "Chimchar, fight back with Scratch!" Chimchar nodded and began to scratch Pikipek back as many times as the Shiny Woodpecker Pokemon used Peck.
Pikipek growled at the opposing Pokemon. Lillie looked worried. "That must be Growl. Cabba, when a Pokemon uses Growl, their opponent's attack power is lowered."
"Lowers attack power? Thanks, Lillie. We'll just try to even it out. Chimchar, use Leer!" Cabba called out. Chimchar gave Pikipek and intimidating leer.
Kiawe smiled a bit. "Good thinking. Leer lowers a Pokemon defense power, so it evens out for them again."
Pikipek flew back and began to give out some sort of screeching voice. It was enough to make Chimchar grunt and skid back.
"Now what's Pikipek doing?" Ash asked.
"He must be using Echoed Voice! A Normal-Type attack! The user attacks the target with an echoing voice. The more times this move is used, the stronger it gets." Rotom-Dex explained.
Cabba grunted. "We won't give up! Chimchar, Ember!" Chimchar struggled but he fired his Ember attack. However, Pikipek used Echoed Voice again, making it stronger as it overpowered Ember, surprising Cabba and Chimchar.
The Woodpecker Pokemon dove in and used Peck on Chimchar again.
"Gotta say, that's one clever Pokemon." Xandra commented. Muddy nodded. "Mud."
"I know you can do it, Chimchar!" Cabba encouraged his Pokemon. "Use Scratch!" Chimchar managed to smack Pikipek away with a well-aimed Scratch attack. "Quickly follow it up with Ember!" Chimchar wasted no time firing his Fire-Type attack on a still recovering Pikipek. The Shiny Pokemon took the attack from Chimchar before he fell to the ground, slowly struggling to get back up.
Lana smiled. "Nice work, Cabba! Now's your chance to catch it!"
Cabba nodded. "Right! I hope I don't mess it up!" He tossed the Poke Ball at Pikipek. The ball opened up and sucked Pikipek inside. The Poke Ball landed on the ground and shook. Everyone watched the ball carefully. After a while, the ball clicked and stopped shaking.
Cabba blinked, still new to how things go on this planet. "Uh...did I...do it?"
Sophocles smiled and nodded. "Yep, you just caught your first Pokemon!"
Hearing that made Cabba laugh a little. He picked up the Poke Ball and looked at it. "We did it, Chimchar! We've got a new friend!" Chimchar happily nodded. "Chimchar!"
"Come on out, Pikipek!" Cabba tossed the ball into the air and brought Pikipek back out. "Piki!" Pikipek cheered.
"I'm glad to have you in our group, Pikipek. Let's work together as a team from now on!" Cabba told his new Pokemon. Pikipek happily nodded. "Pek Piki Pikipek!"
The others smiled at the Saiyan and his two Pokemon.
Now with Pikipek joining Cabba's team, the students continued on into the forest to continue their fieldwork.
In excitement, Ash carefully looked around the forest. "I've got the feeling we'll run into another wild Pokemon really soon!" Mallow chuckled, she was walking in front of the group with her hands behind her back, walking backwards as she faced the excited Kanto Trainer.
Kiawe let out an amused chuckle. "Really?"
"Well, I hope your prediction is right on the money." Mallow said.
"Yeah, I'm tired from all this walking." Sophocles yawned a little and stretched his arms.
"Come on, Sophocles. It hasn't been that long since we started walking after Cabba caught Pikipek." Xandra reminded her exhausted friend.
While the two of them were talking, Cabba couldn't help but at Sophocles. He whispered to the two Pokemon on his shoulders. Nodding, Pikipek flew a little while Chimchar got off to walk a little himself.
Sophocles puffed his cheeks in annoyance. "Give me a break, Xandra! I'm not the kind of guy who pushes my body to impossible limits!" He yelped when he felt his body being lifted up.
Sophocles looked down and saw that Cabba was now carrying him on his back. The Saiyan smiled up at his friend. "There you go, Sophocles."
Sophocles sighed happily. "Thank you, Cabba."
"The probability of meeting Pokemon in this area is 83.9%." Rotom buzzed for the students.
Ash blinked before he noticed something in front of them. "Ah! Over there!" The others looked at what Ash saw. In front of them looked like some kind of Pokemon in a ragged Pikachu outfit.
"Pika Pika!" Pikachu cried out, causing the new Pokemon to turn their way. Once it spotted Pikachu, it began to shake.
Mallow giggled after realizing Ash was right about the Pokemon encounter. "Looks like your feeling was right."
Lana cocked her head in confusion, noticing the similarities between Pikachu and the new Pokemon. "A Pikachu? I don't think so..." Cabba turned his head to her. "If it's not a Pikachu, then what kind of Pokemon is it?"
Lillie answered the Saiyan's question. "Mimikyu, I read about it in a book once. I think it's a-" Rotom flew up to buzz in Mimikyu. "Wait! Please leave the Pokemon descriptions to me. Mimikyu, the Disguise Pokemon, a Ghost and Fairy-Type. It wears a ragged head cover to look like a Pikachu, but little is known about this Pokemon. It is said that a scholar who once tried to look inside met his end."
The description made Pikipek shiver a little while Chimchar winced and held his neck.
Xandra looked back to see that Mimikyu was still shaking. "Wait, why is Mimikyu shaking like that? It's not even cold in Melemele Island." Her eyes turned over to Pikachu. "Something doesn't feel right..." She kept thinking to herself. Mimikyu even hissed towards Pikachu.
Ash made a choice to try and catch the Ghost and Fairy-Type. "Alright, Pikachu! Go and get Mimikyu!" Pikachu nodded and got ready to battle.
"Pikachu, use Iron Tail!" Ash called out. Pikachu jumped into the air with his tail glowing. As the attach made contact...Mimikyu's head bent down like it just had it's neck broken!
Everyone gasped while Chimchar and Pikipek held each other with a yelp. Kiawe was bewildered by what he just saw. "I can't believe what I'm seeing here!"
After letting Sophocles down, Cabba turned to Rotom-Dex. "Uh, Rotom? Is Mimikyu going to be okay?"
Rotom, however, just smiled at the Saiyan. "It'll be okay, Cabba. Mimikyu's ability is called Disguise. For one attack, Mimikyu won't get hurt thanks to the rag protecting it."
"If anyone's going to need protection...it's probably going to be Pikachu." Xandra seriously spoke up, making the others watching the battle turn to her.
"What do you mean?" Lana asked in confusion.
"It's like this, a normal Mimikyu disguises itself as a Pikachu in order to feel accepted by other Pokemon." Xandra began explaining, and Cabba couldn't help but feel sorry for a Mimikyu. Xandra continued explaining. "But the Mimikyu fighting Ash and Pikachu seems...different, more dark than a regular Mimikyu. It's almost like that particular Mimikyu hates Pikachu."
"Hates Pikachu? But...why?" Mallow asked.
As the battle went on, Mimikyu zipped towards Pikachu and began to smack and slam him a good amount of times. "What kind of move is that?" Cabba asked.
"It's the Fairy-Type move, Play Rough...only rougher." Xandra answered seriously. Pikachu was sent back, skidding on the ground.
Ash was shocked by the amount of power from Mimikyu. "It's strong." Mimikyu came at Pikachu again with a ghost hand coming from the rag. It slashed Pikachu, knocking him down again. "Close range combat's dangerous, Pikachu! Electro Ball!" Ash called out.
Pikachu charged up a ball of electricity and launched it at Mimikyu...who just used its wooden tail and smack it right back.
The others were starting to get worried. "Way strong..." Sophocles said in disbelief.
Cabba gritted his teeth before he looked down at his two Pokemon. Both Chimchar and Pikipek looked pretty worried for their Electric-Type friend. The Saiyan looked back to see his Kanto friend and the Mouse Pokemon struggling against the Disguise Pokemon. "This isn't good. If this keeps up, Pikachu's going to be taken down by Mimikyu's powerful attacks."
"Are you okay?" Ash asked his Electric-Type buddy. "Pika Pika." Pikachu nodded.
The other Pokemon began to cheer for Pikachu. "Bounsweet!/Popplio!/Togedemaru!/Chimchar Chim!/Pek Pek Pikipek!"
Muddy was about to cheer as well, when the fin on his head began to twitch. "Mud?" Xandra turned to her Mudkip. "You sense it too, don't you?" Muddy turned to her and nodded. "Kip."
"Hey, I sense it too." Cabba looked to his left and narrowed his eyes at a nearby bush. "What is it?"
Now Ash was more determined to win and catch Mimikyu. "Okay, it's your move!" Pikachu nodded and prepared to make another attack...until four figures came jumping out of the bushes next to Mimikyu...Four figures that both Ash and Pikachu are familiar with. "Just a minute!" the woman in the group smirked at the students.
Xandra, Cabba, Kiawe, and Mallow stepped up and glared at the four of them. "Alright, who are you?" Kiawe snapped.
The four newcomers began a motto, starting with the woman. "Did someone ask something? We're here to find out!"
Next, the guy. "Nobel answeres are what we're all about!"
The woman went again. "The beauty so radiant, the flowers and moon hide in shame. A single flower of evil in this fleeting world: Jessie!"
The guy spoke again. "The nobly heroic man of our times, the master of darkness fighting back against a tragic world. It's James!"
Surprisingly, the cat Pokemon with them spoke next. "It's all for one and one for all! A glittering star that always shines bright. Dig it, while Meowth takes flight!"
"Team Rocket, let's fight!" Jessie and James said together. "That's right!" Meowth added. Finally, the blue Pokemon with them saluted. "Wobbuffet!"
While Ash and Pikachu looked at the four of them in annoyance, the others behind the two were both bewildered and confused.
Finally, Rotom flew up to ask something. "Team Rocket? Can they really take flight?"
"WE BLAST OFF, YOU DOPE!" Jessie snapped before she cooled off and correct herself. "I mean...we don't fly."
"You see...Team Rocket is a super-powerful, evil organization!" James pulled out a blue rose. Cabba narrowed his eyes a little. "Evil?"
"What kind of dumb Pokedex doesn't know something great like that?" Meowth mocked Rotom-Dex.
Instead of getting upset, Rotom-Dex was amazed and floated closer to Meowth. "I don't have any data of a Meowth that can speak like a human! This could be the discovery of a new type of Pokemon!"
Xandra raised an eyebrow. "You're a Rotom that's able to speak while in the Pokedex...and yet you're amazed by a talking furball?"
"Hey, who are you calling a furball!?" Meowth snapped at Xandra. "I'm a rare genius. A one of a kind Pokemon that won't be seen anywhere else in the world." His confident speaking was slowly turning to annoyance due to the many pictures Rotom-Dex was taking of him. "And another thing..." Finally, he snapped at Rotom. "WOULD YOU SHUT YOUR ELECTRIC YAP!?"
Rotom-Dex yelped and flew back to the students. Now he was being held by Cabba.
"Evil organization?" Lana tilted her head in confusion.
"I've never heard of them." Mallow said. Kiawe shook his head. "Not me." "Neither have I." Lillie agreed. Xandra folded her arms. "Same here."
Cabba walked forward until he was standing next to Ash. "If they say they're an evil organization, then I guess that means they've been causing nothing but trouble in your planet, right Ash?"
Jessie, James, and Meowth looked at Cabba and blinked in confusion. "Our...planet?" Meowth even turned to Wobbuffet. "What's he talking about?" "Wobbu." Wobbuffet just shrugged.
Ash nodded. "Yeah. They're bad guys who like to steal other people's Pokemon." Cabba and his Pokemon glared harder at Team Rocket while the others were shocked by what they heard. Xandra, Kiawe, and Sophocles already don't like them.
"Huh? They stea Pokemonl!?" Mallow kept Bounsweet close to her while Lana did the same for Popplio.
"If they steal Pokemon, then they're thieves!" Sophocles said.
Ash confronted his old enemies from his past journeys. "You've come to the Alola Region to do bad things here too, haven't you?"
Jessie smirked at the Kanto Twerp. "Same old genius. I don't know why YOU'RE here, but I'm sick of seeing your twerpy face!"
"We'll simply take your Pikachu and all your friends Pokemonfor our fancy selves!" James added.
Jessie pointed at the Mimikyu Ash tried to catch earlier. "And...that Mimikyu. Remember, we found that one first."
Suddenly, an energy blast landed in front of James' feet, making him yelp in shock. In shock, and not seeing that coming, Team Rocket looked back at the students...and saw Cabba's outstretched hand. "Over my dead body will I ever let you crooks take our Pokemon away!"
"Hey, what's your problem?" Meowth blinked a couple of times before he raised an eyebrow. "More importantly, how did you do that...light ball thingy of yours?"
Xandra stepped up next. "Oh, you mean this?" She surprised Ash, Pikachu, Team Rocket, Cabba, and Pikipek by firing her own energy blast at James. It hit him in the face, leaving it black.
James coughed. "Why me...?"
Jessie growled angrily. "Okay, Meowth! Go!"
Meowth was surprised. "EH!? Oh...Urgh...!" He turned to Pikachu. "Word up, Pikachu! I know how strong you are, but today I come out on top! No 'ifs', 'ands', or 'butts' about it! Fury Swipes!" He jumped up with his claws ready to strike his enemy.
"Pikachu, Electro Ball!" Ash called out. Pikachu fired the Electric-Type at Meowth, who began to panic after seeing the ball. However, to everyone's surprise, Mimikyu interfered by firing a ghostly ball which deflected Pikachu's Electro Ball.
Meowth landed next to the Disguise Pokemon. "Mimikyu, you came through like a champ! Thanks a lot, pally!"
Xandra growled. "Should've guessed the little ghost would try to interfere when it comes to Pikachu!"
"Call me crazy, but I get the strangest feeling Mimikyu's trying to help us out." Jessie said in surprise. Mimikyu glanced at Team Rocket before it began to speak to them.
Meowth was able to understand...even if he was starting to get scared. "Whoa! Mimikyu wants to give us a hand instead of the chumps!"
Jessie blinked. "So, I'm sane?" James smiled at the Ghost and Fairy-Type helping them. "We're truly grateful for all your help, please explain."
"I can tell you that one." Cabba held his serious glare. "The reason that Mimikyu's helping you out...is because Mimikyu hates Pikachu!"
Jessie and James were confused. "Hates Pikachu?" Meowth nodded. "Yep. Mimikyu just confirmed the oddly dressed Twerp's words."
Cabba took offense to what Meowth just said. "Hey! I'll have you know that this is a uniform normally worn by a proud Saiyan warrior like me, so show some respect!"
Team Rocket blinked while glancing at Cabba again. "Huh?" "Proud Saiyan warrior?" James asked. Meowth took a look at Cabba's tail. "Is that a REAL tail?"
Jessie shook her head to get back on track. "Forget about the Saiyan Twerp for now! Let's back to Mimikyu's hatred towards Pikachu!"
Meowth nodded just as Mimikyu began to speak again. "Mimikyu doesn't look like Pikachu because it wants to. It seems to me there's a whole lot of resent going on, and it's not cool!" Meowth began to beg to Mimikyu. "...Do me a favor and don't say anymore scary stuff, will you PLEASE?"
James smiled sheepishly. "Sounds like some complicated feelings in play."
Jessie took this to their advantage. "So then, let's not look a gifted Mimikyu in the mold. It's all good, Mimikyu! So just attack!"
At the call, Mimikyu began to charge up another ghostly ball. "It's getting ready to us Shadow Ball again!" Xandra warned. "Here it come, Pikachu!" Ash warned. "Now, be careful!" Rotom added.
Instead of acting like typical Pokemon Trainers, Jessie and James began to cheer and dance around, much to Meowth's chargin. "Way to go! You can do it! Ra ra ra!" Mimikyu's Shadow Ball got even bigger.
However, before the attack could be launched, Jessie and James were suddenly grabbed from behind. Team Rocket turned in surprise to see that a pink bear Pokemon grabbed both Jessie and James. "Huh?" Meowth asked.
Cabba blinked in surprise once he recognized the Pokemon. "It's that strong Pokemon again! Back after I first met Ash and Pikachu!" "Chim!?/Piki!?" Chimchar and Pikipek quickly turned their heads to their Saiyan trainer in shock.
"What's going on!?" James asked. The Pokemon began to take them away. "Hey!"
Meowth and Wobbuffet watched on in worry. "Hey, big guy! Why are you schlepping my two buddies!?" Meowth asked. "Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet voiced his agreement. The Pokemon ignored the two Pokemon and kept walking away, much to the protest of both James and Jessie. "JESSIE! JAMES!" Meowth called out.
Ash sweat dropped a little. "Who's that Pokemon?"
"Bewear, the Strong Arm Pokemon, a Normal and Fighting-Type. Bewear has extremely powerful arms, and it's very dangerous. It waves its arms in a friendly fashion, but this is a means of warning. Approach with caution." Rotom-Dex answered.
Ash gulped. "Boy, I'll remember to never carelessly approach a Bewear ever again." He remembered all to well the first time he, Pikachu, and Cabba encountered Bewear.
"Same here. Glad we ran away as fast as we could." Cabba agreed.
Meowth quickly went over to Mimikyu. "Mimikyu! Save Jessie and James! Move!" "Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet also snapped. Mimikyu turned to them and just gave a skeptical hiss. "But you told us you'd help us out if we were in a jam! Forget Pikachu! Right now, you've gotta save the ones who are on your side, dig it!?" Meowth snapped. Mimikyu finally gave up, stopped its attack and allowed Meowth to pick it up.
Both Meowth and Wobbuffet quickly chased after Bewear, James, and Jessie with Mimikyu in Meowth's paws. "Off with a new blast..." Jessie and James moaned. "Wob Wob!" Wobbuffet added.
Once they were gone, Ash and the others could be relieved.
"Who were those guys, Ash?" Mallow asked, still confused on what just happened.
"Like I said, they're thieves who steal other peoples Pokemon." Ash answered. "They've been following me ever since my first journey back home in Kanto even began, trying to take Pikachu away.
"We weren't able to catch it." Kiawe pointed out, talking about the Mimikyu that Team Rocket left with.
Ash just shrugged. "Ah, that's okay. If Mimikyu really hates my buddy that much, then I'd rather let Team Rocket have it."
Lillie tried to lighten the mood. "That's okay, there are many other Pokemon in the Alola Region."
"There are a lot more chances!" Lana added.
Ash perked up right away. "That's right! Okay, Pikachu, Rotom-Dex! Let's go find some more Pokemon!" He ran ahead with Pikachu and Rotom by his side. "The probability of finding a Pokemon in this forest has increased to 96.5%." Rotom informed them.
Xandra laughed a little after hearing that. "I guess the commotion brought the wild Pokemon over to us!" "Mudkip!" Muddy agreed. Xandra, Mallow, Cabba, Lana, Kiawe, Lillie, Sophocles, and their Pokemon followed after Ash, Pikachu, and Rotom-Dex so they don't lose them in the forest.
After getting a Rotom-Dex from Professor Kukui, Cabba was able to catch his first Pokemon: a Shiny Pikipek! But they also had a run with Ash's enemies, Team Rocket, now joined by a Pikachu-hating Mimikyu! Now that Team Rocket has entered Alola, what kind of trouble could they bring to Ash and his friends? The journey continues next time on Pokemon Super: Sun & Moon!
