Previously on Pokemon Super: Sun & Moon, Professor Kukui gave Ash and Cabba a present, a Pokedex with a Rotom inside called the Rotom-Dex. After receiving the gift and adding Rotom to their group of friends, the class headed out into the forest for fieldwork. There, Cabba caught a Shiny Pikipek, they meet a Pikachu hating Mimikyu, and they also ran into enemies from Ash's past adventures called Team Rocket. And as if things weren't strange enough, a Bewear came and took Team Rocket away, along with their new Mimikyu! Now the students are ready to continue their fieldwork!
Ash's First Alolan Catch
In the stands of Melemele Island, a familiar cat Pokemon Ash and Pikachu ran into on the beach was approaching one of the stands. The woman working the stand smiled once she saw the cat coming her way. "Here, Litten, sweetie. Have as much as you like." She offered a bowl of berries to the cat, Litten. Litten purred and began to eat some of the food.
The woman heard something above them. "What's that?" She and Litten looked up at the sky. "Look, it's a Pikipek flock. I guess it's that time of year already, isn't it? Wonderful."
True to the woman's word, in the sky was a flock of Pikipek. In the back was a completely different kind of flying Pokemon...that was sleeping while he flies?
"Trumbeak!" The leader of the flock told the Pikipek and the small round Pokemon to dive. Each of the Pikipek dove down and grabbed a piece of fruit before flying away.
Litten meowed. "They only come once around this time of year, so it's just fine." the woman assured Litten. Fruit sellers were even helping the Pikipek gather up fruit. "Of course, the abundance of nature must be shared with everyone. That's the rule among those of us who live in the Alola Region."
The small round Pokemon was looking at a chime on one of the stands.
"So don't forget, if you ever find yourself hungry, don't be shy and come back, okay?" the woman watched as the flock flew away with fruit...while the round Pokemon carried the wind chime with him.
"Pikachu, jump up!" Ash called. The Mouse Pokemon jumped up to avoid a String Shot attack coming from the wild Pokemon in front of them.
After their encounter with Team Rocket, the students continued with their fieldwork. Now Ash is eager to catch the Bug-Type Pokemon in front of them.
"Grubbin, the Larva Pokemon, a Bug-Type. Grubbin scrapes trees with its large jaws and drinks their sap. It makes its home underground." Rotom explained. "Ash, did you hear that?"
"Sure did. Got it covered, Rotom." Ash replied just as Pikachu landed on the ground. "Now, use Thunderbolt!" Pikachu shocked Grubbin with his Thunderbolt attack. After the attack, Grubbin struggled to stand up.
"Like I told Cabba, throw a Poke Ball at the wild Pokemon after its been exhausted in a battle in order to catch it." Rotom reminded.
Ash was about to do so. "Alright!" He threw the ball and it sucked Grubbin right in. It shook several times, Ash watched in excitement, the girls were hoping the catch was a success, Cabba, Kiawe, and Sophocles carefully watched.
"Will he catch it?" Kiawe folded his arms. "Yeah, will he?" Sophocles asked. "I guess we'll just have to wait and see." Cabba replied uneasily.
The ball popped open and Grubbin dug underground. Both Ash and Pikachu groaned at the failed catch attempt.
"Too bad..." Mallow said in disappointment. "He was so close..." Lana added. Xandra kept watch of where Grubbin was moving, as did Cabba and everyone else.
Ash watched as well until Grubbin came to a stop underground. "Quick, Pikachu! Aim to where Grubbin's about to come out and use Quick Attack!" Pikachu nodded and got ready to make his surprise attack. However, it dug out where Lillie was near.
Lillie screamed and hid behind Mallow, surprising her, Kiawe, and Xandra. But they sighed together once the three of them saw how their friend got scared.
"You sure know how to get scared." Mallow teased. Lillie pouted. "I am NOT scared! I LOVE to research Pokemon! It's just like..." Before she could finish, Pikachu charged at Grubbin with Quick Attack. Grubbin shot a String Shot attack.
"Watch out!" Xandra warned. She, Kiawe, Mallow, and Lillie got out of the way, but Lillie screamed again once she got in the way of Pikachu who was dodging multiple String Shot attacks. She accidentally pushed Pikachu, causing his foot to be caught in some sticky string from Grubbin.
Ash widened his eyes. "Pikachu!?" "Watch out for its powerful jaws!" Rotom warned. But Grubbin quickly gave Pikachu a good hit with its powerful jaws.
Pikachu grunted before he fell to the ground, feeling the pain from the strong hit. "Pikachu! Are you okay?" Ash helped his Electric-Type up. "Pikachu." Pikachu told his human friend.
Cabba, Chimchar, Pikipek, and Rotom ran over to the Kanto duo. "Confirming damage! Confirming damage!" Rotom buzzed. Cabba patted Rotom-Dex to stop him. "No need to confirm it, Rotom. We can tell how bad Pikachu's hurt by what we saw." Both Popplio and Togedemaru whimpered their concern for the Electric-Type Pokemon.
"I'm so sorry!" Lillie apologized once she realized how Pikachu got hurt. "I'll take you to the Pokemon Center now!" Mallow volunteered.
Ash gave her a thankful look. "A Pokemon Center would be great, so lead the way, Mallow! And don't you worry, Lillie." Remembering Cabba's first catch, Ash turned to his Saiyan friend. "You should come along too, Cabba. The Pokemon Center will definitely help heal both Chimchar and Pikipek from earlier today."
While not knowing what a Pokemon Center is yet, Cabba looked at the two Pokemon on his shoulders and noticed the scratches the two of them got from the battle earlier. So, he nodded. "Right, let's go!"
"Ash, Cabba...We'll go back to school and tell Professor Kukui what happened, okay?" Kiawe told them. Cabba smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Kiawe. That really helps." While Ash, Rotom, Mallow, and Cabba headed off to the Pokemon Center, Xandra, Lana, Lillie, Sophocles, and Kiawe began to make their way back to the Pokemon School to inform their teacher what happened.
In a deeper part of the woods, Bewear was looking for food while in a makeshift cave, Mimikyu watched it. Jessie glared at the Disguise Pokemon before she threw a Poke Ball at it. Mimikyu sensed the Poke Ball coming and smacked it away.
"This time for sure!" Jessie grunted and threw another one...only to get smacked away by Mimikyu again. "Look, Mimikyu! You're the one who wanted to help us, so let me catch you!"
Meowth and Wobbuffet watched on as Jessie got really annoyed by their new 'ally'. "Of course it's gonna be pretty hard to catch, because it's not tired one bit." Meowth said. "Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet agreed. James was just polishing something in his hand.
Jessie angrily turned to them. "Don't you get that I'm trying to catch that Mimikyu because you guys can't beat that Bewear?" She turned to look at the Normal and Fighting-Type. "If we don't get out of here, we'll end up on that Bewear's smack down schedule!"
Meowth screamed. "Smack down!" James screamed as well. Then he dropped the thing he was polishing. Jessie looked at it and noticed that it looked like a Poke Ball. "A Luxury Ball? Ha! Perfect timing."
As Jessie picks the Luxury Ball up, James panicked. "Not that! It's part of my collection!"
"Your collection? It's valuable when someone uses it." Jessie felt heartless at the plea.
"Don't do it! Anything but that!" James beseeched. "Turn it down!" Jessie bellowed and threw the Luxury Ball at Mimikyu. Unlike the other times, the ball made contact with Mimikyu and sucked it right in. Team Rocket watched as the ball began to shake.
"Direct hit." Jessie happily said. Meowth nervously watched as the Luxury Ball finally accepted Mimikyu. "I caught it!" Jessie exclaimed.
"It's part of the family! Yay!/Wobbuffet!" Meowth and Wobbuffet cheered.
"My poor collection." James sobbed.
Jessie giggled as she went over to get her new Pokemon. Just as she was about to pick the ball up...Bewear grabs her arm. Fear hit Jessie as she was picked up by Bewear. "Get your big paws off me!"
"Bewear. Bewear." Bewear carried her over to the others.
"No! Bewear says time to strap on the ol' feed bag!" Meowth shouted in fear. "Jessie's not a bag!" James yelled while Bewear put Jessie down.
Jessie turned her eyes to the Luxury Ball. "You've got to come out and help us, Mimikyu! Mimikyu! Mimikyu! Uh..." She was cut off when Bewear gave her some honey. "What is that? Yummy! Delicious! Richer than rich!" Seems she's happily enjoying the honey.
"That's yummy honey nectar." Meowth answered just before Bewear fed some honey to him. "Ah! Sweets for the sweet!"
Bewear does the same for James and Wobbuffet. "What a succulent taste!/Wobbu!" The two of them also agreed.
"Succulent doesn't begin to describe it!" Team Rocket sighed happily. Maybe being in Bewear's cave won't be so bad for them after all.
Meanwhile, Ash, Cabba, and Mallow made it to the Pokemon Center.
"Welcome to the Melemele Island Pokemon Center." A pink haired nurse greeted them along with her two Pokemon. "Blissey!/Comfey!"
"I really need your help, Nurse Joy." Ash told the nurse. "Will you please help our Pokemon, ma'am?" Cabba politely asked. "Bounsweet." Bounsweet said.
Nurse Joy smiled at the two of them. "Don't worry. Pikachu, Chimchar, and Pikipek will be fine in no time. Alright, Blissey."
Blissey nodded and took the three Pokemon away in a stretcher to get them healed up.
Cabba smiled a little. "Thank you, that's very kind of you." Rotom floated next to the Saiyan. "The Pokemon Center is where you can heal your Pokemon and restore its strength and treat any status conditions." After explaining, Rotom took a picture of Nurse Joy. "Updating Nurse Joy. Updating info."
Ash glanced at Comfey. "Hey, Rotom-Dex? That Pokemon, who is it?"
"Let's see." Rotom took a picture of Comfey. "Comfey, the Posy Picker Pokemon, a Fairy-Type. It releases a relaxing scent from the flowers it picks. The scent has a healing effect and can cure status conditions."
Comfey gave the flowers it picked to Ash, dropping them around his neck. The scent made Ash happily relax. "Ah, it's the perfect assistant for Nurse Joy."
"Blissey is perfect too!" Mallow happily added.
"A correct assessment!" Rotom began to describe Blissey next. "Blissey, the Happiness Pokemon, a Normal-Type. When it senses someone sad with its fur, it will rush over, no matter how far and share its lucky egg that brings a smile to everyone."
Cabba smiled. "Wow, sounds like a very helpful Pokemon. If Sadala's still around, I'm sure the Saiyan doctors there would love to have friendly helpers like Blissey and Comfey by their side."
In confusion, Mallow and Rotom-Dex turned to Cabba. "There he goes again with this 'Sadala' talk, but now he's throwing 'Saiyans' in the mix? Does not compute!" the latter buzzed.
"Come to think of it, you never did tell us why you came here in the first place." Mallow remembered the unanswered question she asked in the forest.
Cabba's smile faded a little to a look of sadness. Worried about his friend, Ash quickly placed a hand on Cabba's shoulder. "You don't have to answer it right away if you don't want to."
Cabba nodded before he gave Mallow and Rotom an apologetic look. "Mallow, Rotom-Dex, if it's okay with you, I'll wait and tell you and the rest of our friends together at the Pokemon School."
Mallow nodded in understanding. "Of course, Cabba. Lillie and the others are curious as well." "Telling the others at once makes 99.9% more sense than telling them one at a time." Rotom added. Ash silently sighed in a little relief, and luckily for him no one noticed.
At the cafeteria, Ash, Cabba, and Mallow were having a snack. Then Nurse Joy and Blissey came by with Pikachu, Chimchar, and Pikipek. The three Pokemon are looking much better. "I'm happy to say these three are fully healed." Nurse Joy told them.
"Pika-Pika!" Pikachu jumped into Ash's arms. "Char!/Piki!" Chimchar jumped into Cabba's arms while Pikipek flew and landed on Cabba's left shoulder.
"Great! You guys are better!" Cabba smiled at his two Pokemon. "Glad you three are back." Mallow added.
Rotom floated next to Pikachu. "A test." He was about to pull on Pikachu's tail, but Cabba held up a hand to stop him. "Hold on, Rotom! Let's not have a repeat of what happened back in Professor Kukui's house, okay?"
At the reminder, Rotom-Dex backed away with a sheepish look. "Oh, right! Sorry."
The next day, Ash, Cabba, their Pokemon, and Rotom-Dex were at Mallow's restaurant, having some fruit with said girl and Bounsweet.
"Today's the day." Ash ate a piece of pineapple. "I'm catching a Pokemon, that's for sure."
Cabba took a bite of his banana. "Well, We'll be supporting you guys no matter what. Right, you two?" The two Pokemon agreed with their trainer. "Chimchar!/Pek Piki!"
"The current Pokemon encounter rate in the forest behind the Pokemon School is 89%." Rotom told them.
"That just might work. The forest is where I first came across Bounsweet." Mallow said. "Bounsweet." Said Pokemon unleashed her attack, Sweet Scent, releasing a sweet smell around them, making Pikachu, Chimchar, and Pikipek relax after smelling it.
Overhead, the small round flying Pokemon from yesterday flew around and looked tired when Bounsweet's Sweet Scent hit him. Looking down, he sees Bounsweet sitting on the railing of the restaurant, mistaking her for a berry. Determined, the small round Pokemon flew down to get Bounsweet.
Cabba was the first to sense something coming their way. "Huh?" He looked up at the sky.
"What is it, Cabba?" Ash asked. "Something's coming our way and fast." Cabba answered seriously.
Sure enough, they saw the small round Pokemon coming down at Bounsweet, who twirled her leaves to smack it away.
Ash got a good look at the Pokemon. "Hey! Who's that Pokemon?" Cabba added a question of his own. "And why was it trying to attack Bounsweet?"
"Leave it to me." Rotom described the small round Pokemon to them. "Rowlet, the Grass Quill Pokemon, a Grass and Flying-Type. It stores energy during the day from photosynthesis. It swoops down without making a sound and unleashes a powerful kick without being noticed."
They looked back to see Rowlet trying to get Bounsweet again, only for him to get smacked away again. "Wow." Ash said.
"But there's no doubt both Cabba and Bounsweet noticed and Rowlet met with a strong defense instead of unleashing a powerful kick." Rotom said.
Cabba turned to the Pokedex. "I sensed Rowlet's energy coming down on us. Just shows I've been training myself hard before coming to Earth."
Mallow giggled a little. "Just like any other martial artist in Alola. Also, Bounsweet's used to it." "Bounsweet's used to it?" Ash repeated.
Cabba looked back at Bounsweet. "I guess it makes sense since Bounsweet looks like a berry."
"You see, Bounsweet's scent is..." Rotom cuts Mallow off. "Wait! Allow me to explain the rest! Bounsweet, the Fruit Pokemon, a Grass-Type. It's always emitting a delicious scent from its body." Bounsweet unleashed another Sweet Scent. "Lured by its scent, many flying Pokemon mistake it for a berry."
Rowlet hooed before coming at Bounsweet again...only Pikipek flew after her again.
"Wha...Pikipek!" Cabba yelped. "They're attacking together!" Rotom said.
Bounsweet defended herself and smacked both Flying-Types away. Cabba caught his Shiny Pokemon while Rowlet went back his feet catching a cable.
Cabba turned to Mallow and gave her an apologetic bow. "I'm so sorry about that, Mallow." He turned his head to his Pokemon. "Pikipek, Bounsweet's a friend, not food. You apologize too."
Pikipek looked guilty and gave an apologetic to both Mallow and Bounsweet. "Pikipek."
"Don't worry. Like I said, Bounsweet's used to it." Mallow told them. Bounsweet nodded. "Sweet!"
Cimchar and Pikachu looked back at Rowlet. "Pika." the latter said. Chimchar shrugged. "Chim."
Ash looked at Rowlet as well. "Maybe that Rowlet is really hungry." Cabba nodded. "That must be it. The poor little guy must be starving."
The Grass Quill Pokemon fell to the ground. Ash jumps over the railing and rushes out to catch Rowlet.
The first thing Rowlet saw once he opened his eyes after a few minutes was Ash staring at him.
"Are you okay?" Ash asked the Pokemon in his backpack. Rowlet whimpered as he looked up at Ash, then he tilted his head. Ash smiled. "Thank goodness."
Once Rowlet got out of the backpack, he squealed once he realized he was safe. He sees a bowl of fruit on the porch, heads over to it, and began to eat his fill.
Ash held out a banana. "Talk about an appetite." Cabba came over with an apple. "Not as big as a Saiyan's appetite, but still."
"The amount of food and the speed that he eats is incredible." Rotom admitted. "Pika./Chim./Pek." Pikachu, Chimchar and Pikipek agreed.
Rowlet turned his head back, still eating a melon. "Want this too?" Ash offered. He and Cabba held out the fruit they were holding. Rowlet looked at the fruit, trilled in happiness and jumped into Ash's arms. Wincing from Rowlet's strong grip, Ash still kept his smile. "Oh, man, you've got a good grip!"
Shortly, Rowlet had his fill. "Do you like it?" Ash asked. "We can always get you more." Cabba offered.
Rowlet just trilled a little. "That's great, glad you're happy." Ash gently rubbed the Grass Quill Pokemon's head. "Wow, you're so soft!"
Rowlet sighed and looked as Mallow placed a watermelon in the bowl. "Hey, Rowlet?" Ash held out a Poke Ball. "Is it okay if I catch you?" Instead of replying to the question, Rowlet just grabs the watermelon and flies off. "Huh? Hey, wait up!" Ash ran after Rowlet, as did Pikachu.
"Where are you going?" Cabba asked his friend. "Are you going to catch him?" Rotom added.
"You bet!" Ash replied. "Let's go!"
Cabba nodded and followed Ash, as did Chimchar, Pikipek, and Mallow with Bounsweet on her shoulder. "Right!" Rotom replied before joining the chase himself.
Back at Bewear's cave, Jessie and James looked around for Bewear. Luckily for them, the Strong Arm Pokemon was nowhere to be seen.
"It looks safe, let's go." James said. The two of them went over to the Luxury Ball that was still on the ground.
Jessie picked up the ball containing Mimikyu. "I've got my Luxury Ball containing Mimikyu!"
Meowth and Wobbuffet, stuffed and satisfied, rubbed their full stomachs. "And thanks to Bewear's yummy honey, we're stuffed too!" the former said. "Wobbu Wobbu." Wobbuffet agreed.
James sighed sadly at the moment, but his sad look turned into a confused one when he heard a squawk. "Huh?" James looked up just as Trumbeak and the Pikipek flock flew into Bewear's cave and grabbed as much fruit as they can, making James shriek.
"They couldn't have!" Jessie yelled. "They took Bewear's food!" Meowth shouted. "They're terrible!" James added.
Jessie growled. "Let's get it back! We owe Bewear for feeding us and giving us shelter! So not helping would be against our evil ways!"
James nodded. "Right! Yes, ma'am."
"Jessie's right! She's too cool for school!" Meowth said. "Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet popped up and agreed.
Soon, Ash, Cabba, Mallow, and their Pokemon friends ran up to the spot in the forest where Rowlet seemed to have landed. When they got there, they were surprised to see a giant nest with a bunch of little Pikipek, a Trumbeak, and also another Pokemon with a big black, red, orange, and yellow beak.
Ash spotted Rowlet among the Pikipek, in front of Trumbeak and the other Pokemon. "There it is! Over there!"
Pikipek, happy to see his own kind, flew in circles. "Pek Piki Piki Pikipek!" Cabba looked at Trumbeak and the other Pokemon. "I recognize the little Pikipek, but what are the other two Pokemon?"
Rotom floated over. "Here's where I come in. Trumbeak, the Bugle Beak Pokemon, a Normal and Flying-Type, and the evolved form of Pikipek. It attacks its opponents by firing seeds stored in its beak."
"Evolved form?" Cabba asked in confusion. "Think of it as a Pokemon's way of growing up." Mallow answered.
Rotom went over to the other bird Pokemon. "Toucannon, the Cannon Pokemon, and the evolved form of Trumbeak. Its beak heats up to over 200 degrees and its Peck can inflict a serious burn." He was confused when he noticed that Toucannon's beak wasn't heating up, so he tapped it. "What's this? It's not hot at all. That's strange..." He didn't realize that with each tap, Toucannon was getting more and more annoyed. He didn't even realize that Toucannon was now heating up its beak until it was too late. Rotom-Dex got burned and began to flail around in pain.
Cabba laughed sheepishly at the Rotom-Dex's antics. He had a gentle smile on his face once his own Shiny Pikipek landed on his head. "You want to be as strong as that Toucannon, don't you, Pikipek?" Pikipek happily nodded his head. "Pek!"
Rowlet flew over to Ash, happy to see his human friend again. Ash laughed as he watched Rowlet go into his backpack again. "Wow! I had no idea you had so many awesome friends!"
Cabba looked at the apple he was still holding, then back at the pile of fruit in the Pikipek nest. Softly smiling, the Saiyan walked over to the nest. Toucannon and Trumbeak kept a sharp eye on the Saiyan. Chimchar joined his trainer with a banana in his hands.
"Here." Cabba offered the fruit to the Flying-Types. "Go on, take it." Chimchar got on Cabba's shoulder to offer the banana as well. "Char Chimchar."
The Pikipek chicks happily chirped when Cabba and Chimchar placed their fruit in the pile. Suddenly, a net came out of nowhere, trapping the Pikipek chicks. "What the...?" Cabba started to ask before Toucannon and Trumbeak fired seeds from their beaks. Chimchar even fired his Ember attack. But they, along with Cabba and Pikipek got caught in a net themselves! "H-Hey!" Cabba yelled.
Ash and Mallow turned to see that Rowlet's family, along with their Saiyan friend captured in nets. "What's going on?" Ash gasped. He and the others turned to see four familiar figures.
"Did someone ask something? We're here to find out!" Jessie started the motto.
"Nobel answers are what we're all about!" James added.
"The beauty so radiant, the flowers and moon hide in shame...a single flower of evil in this fleeting world: Jessie!" Jessie added.
"The nobly heroic man of our times! The master of darkness fighting back against a tragic world, it's James!" James added.
"It's all for one and one for all! A glittering dark star that always shines bright. Dig it, while Meowth takes flight!" Meowth added to their motto.
"Team Rocket, let's fight!" Jessie and James said. "That's right!" Meowth added. "Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet finished the motto.
Seeing the four from yesterday made Ash, Cabba and Mallow glare at them. "You're those guys from the other day!" Mallow snapped. "The Pokemon thieves!" Cabba added.
"Team Rocket! Let Cabba, Chimchar, Pikipek, and the rest go!" Ash snapped.
James blinked in confusion. "Cabba? Who's Cabba?" "I'm Cabba!" The Saiyan told them. Team Rocket turned to see him in a net with the Pikipek, Trumbeak, and Toucannon. "We got the Saiyan Twerp too?" Meowth asked.
Jessie got back on track as she turned to Ash. "Sorry, but the Twerp loses again. They shoplifted Bewear's food and that's a no-no."
"And we're here to take it back, that way we can pay it back!" James added. "Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet added.
"I go boom!" Meowth fired his net launcher to get the fruit in another net.
In the net with his Saiyan trainer, Chimchar angrily snarled at Team Rocket. "CHIMCHAR CHIM!" Cabba was actually a little startled by his Fire-Type's sudden outburst. "Whoa! Chimchar, what's wrong?"
"Chim Chim Char Chimchar Chim!" Chimchar pointed at Team Rocket, at the flock, and then at the fruit. "Chimchar Char Char! Chimchar Chim Chim...CHIMCHAR!"
James raised a confused eyebrow. "Meowth, what's the twerpish Chimchar saying?"
"He's saying that we have no idea how things work in Alola." Meowth answered. "Chimchar's saying that the Pikipek flock took Bewear's food because it's part of this thing called the abundance of nature."
Mallow stepped up to add to Chimchar's claim. "That's right. During this time of the year, the Pikipek flock comes by to take food offerings that people leave out for them. It's what's known as sharing of nature!" She pointed an accusing finger at Team Rocket. "So, if anything, YOU'RE the ones doing the stealing!"
Jessie growled. "We don't care about this abundance of nature! We came here to get Bewear's food back and that's what we're going to do! Not only that, but we're also going to give your Pikachu as a perfect present for the boss."
Hearing what Jessie just made started to make Cabba angry as well. The Saiyan snarled a little. "You...WHAT!?" With his Saiyan strength, Cabba was able to break the net himself without a single problem, making everyone turn to him...it even stopped Jessie from tossing her Luxury Ball. "Look, Team Rocket! I may not have been in Alola for that long, heck I may not have been on this entire planet for that long, but I know how important each tradition is for the people of the planets in the universe!" Cabba started to angrily rant.
"What's he talking about?" Jessie whispered to James who just shrugged. While Cabba kept Team Rocket busy, Ash whispered something to Rowlet.
Cabba continued on. "You can make fun of the way I dress despite what I say, and maybe you can try and trap me in a net! But nobody, and I mean nobody messes with a Saiyan's friends or the innocent residence of a planet!"
While Rowlet flew away without anyone noticing, Mallow raised her hands a little. "Okay, Cabba, just calm down."
Meowth raised an eyebrow. "Other planets? Saiyan? I haven't got the foggiest idea what you're going on about. We're just doing our Team Rocket job and taking some Pokemon back to our boss is all." Meowth aimed his net launcher again. "Now hold still so I can get Chimchar and that other Pikipek too."
Cabba growled before he fired an energy blast. Meowth yelped as the blast destroyed the launcher in his paws. "Hey! Will you quit aiming your balls of light at us already!?" Jessie snapped at Cabba.
"Let the Pikipek, Trumbeak, Toucannon, and their fruit go!" Cabba replied.
"Never! We're taking them with us whether you like it or not, Saiyan Twerp!" Jessie denied. James looked over at the flock and screamed. "Jessie, they're free!"
Team Rocket looked over, and they gasped in shock to see that the nets holding the Pikipek flock, Trumbeak, Toucannon, and even the fruit were destroyed. "How'd that happen?" Jessie asked.
Meowth spotted Rowlet with the Pikipek. "It's one of them!?"
"That's right!" Ash spoke up, giving Team Rocket a cheeky grin. "While you guys were busy with Cabba, I asked Rowlet to free his friends." "Rowlet was able to cut through the rope with just a kick." Rotom added.
Meowth blinked before he glared at Cabba. "YOU! You did this, Saiyan Twerp!" He got his claws ready. "That's it! Time to introduce you to my Fury Swipes attack!" Meowth jumped up to attack Cabba...but was quickly grabbed by a mysterious paw. "Huh?" The same paw came down and picked up Wobbuffet. Jessie and James were picked up by another paw.
Ash, Cabba, Mallow, Rotom, and the other Pokemon blinked in surprise to see Bewear holding Team Rocket. "Ugh...Is this...?" Jessie started. "...Deja vu?" James finished. They all looked up at the Pokemon holding them tight. "Bewear again!?" Jessie and James cried out in fear. Meowth looked on with a look of fear and pain on his face.
Bewear stayed calmed and began to trudge away with Team Rocket. "Cool your jets, bub! We're just trying to pay you back for the food and shelter you gave us!" Jessie snapped. "Bewear." Bewear just kept walking away with Team Rocket. "Off with a new blast!" Team Rocket shouted. "Wobbuffet!" Wobbuffet's voice was heard before they were completely gone.
"They're all gone..." Mallow said. Ash gave a sheepish smile. "Yeah..." Cabba blinked a couple of times. "I guess Bewear believes that it's a guardian for Team Rocket." The Saiyan shook his head and smiled while looking at Rowlet and his friends. "But at least Rowlet saved his friends." Ash and Mallow looked over to see Rowlet getting praised by the Pikipek chicks, hugged by Trumbeak, and getting a nod of approval by Toucannon.
Ash smiled at his Grass-Type friend. "Rowlet looks so happy." Mallow nodded in agreement. "It's wonderful." Cabba smiled and petted his two Pokemon who just got on his shoulders. "They look like one big happy family." "Pika./Char./Pik./Sweet." The Pokemon agreed.
Suddenly, Ash walked over to the flock. "Rowlet?" The Grass Quill Pokemon turned to his human friend, flying up to him and landing on his shoulder. "Rowlet, thanks. Everybody's fine, thanks to you." Rowlet felt proud for the hard work he did while Cabba kept Team Rocket busy. "Pika Pika!/Chim Chimchar!" Pikachu and Chimchar sided with Ash.
Rotom floated to the Grass/Flying-Type. "That was a powerful kick!" Then he turned to Cabba. "Still, you tore a net like it was absolutely nothing."
Cabba scratched the back of his head. "Honestly, that net wasn't really that strong to hold me." Chimchar and Pikipek looked at their trainer like he was crazy.
"What are you talking about? Despite Rowlet's kick, those nets looked strong enough to carry a big bunch of fruit away!" Mallow mentioned. Cabba shrugged. "I guess I've been training hard enough to break through stuff like Team Rocket's nets."
Toucannon watched mainly Rowlet closely as Ash gently set him back on the nest. "See ya." Ash said. Rowlet looked up at the Kanto Trainer with a confused look. Pikachu, Chimchar, Pikipek, and Bounsweet looked confused as well, same with Rotom, Cabba, and Mallow. "Okay, guys, let's go home..." Ash said.
"Going home?" Rotom asked in confusion. "I thought you were going to catch Rowlet."
Ash sheepishly nodded before his face darkened under his hat. "It's okay." Cabba looked at his friend, and noticed that Ash must be hiding his true feelings about leaving Rowlet be.
Rotom seemed more confused. "Does not compute..." "Ash, are you sure?" Cabba asked.
Ash nodded. "Yeah...I'm sure. The thing is...Rowlet has a lot of friends. Look at them, they're a family." Cabba looked back at the flock, and it did seem like they were more family than friends...even if Rowlet looked at Ash with a sad look. As Cabba kept looking at the flock, a quick image of his own family popped in his head, making his eyes widen just a little. "So it's all fine..." Ash started to walk away.
Mallow hesitated, she looked over at Cabba and noticed that that Saiyan had a sad look of his own, with small tears forming in his eyes. Cabba closed his eyes, blinking the tears away and nodded in understanding. "I understand, Ash." He began to follow his friend, as did Mallow.
Chimchar and Pikipek gave their trainer a look of concern. "Char?/Pek?" Cabba smiled softly at his two Pokemon. "It's okay. Ash makes a good point. It's not right to take someone away from their family...or have something take your family away from you." Mallow heard him and gave her friend a worried look.
Pikipek looked back and noticed that Toucannon was actually urging Rowlet to go with Ash. "Pek Pikipek."
Cabba blinked a little. "What is it, Pikipek?" Happy, Rowlet flew over to them and dove into Ash's backpack, surprising the Kanto Trainer.
Ash looked back and saw Rowlet right next to him. "Rowlet? What's up?" He asked.
Cabba looked as Rowlet said his goodbye to his family to said goodbye back, then it became clear to the Saiyan. "Now I get it. Ash, it looks like Rowlet really wants to go with you." He said with a smile.
Ash blinked before turning back to the Grass Quill Pokemon. "Rowlet? Is what Cabba said true? Are you saying you really wanna come with me?" Instead of answering right away, Rowlet just happily nudged his face on Ash's cheek. Ash was now overjoyed and excited. "Pika Pika!" Pikachu happily said. Chimchar, Pikipek, and Bounsweet expressed their happiness as well.
"Unbelievable!" Rotom buzzed in shock. "Awesome! I really wanted you to be with me as well, Rowlet!" Ash happily said, making Mallow giggle.
Rowlet flew up and faced Ash. The Kanto Trainer blinked for a moment, until he knew what Rowlet wants.
"What's Rowlet doing?" Rotom asked.
Ash smirked and held up an empty Poke Ball. "What do you think? You want me to catch you, right?" Rowlet nodded with a hoot. "Alright! Then here we go, Rowlet! Go, Poke Ball!" Ash threw the ball and Rowlet let it suck him inside. After Ash caught the Poke Ball, it shook a few times until it stopped with a click. Excited to have a new member to his team, Ash held the Poke Ball in the air. "Alright! I just caught...a Rowlet!" Pikachu celebrated with his trainer. "Pi Pikachu!"
"WHAT!?" Rotom buzzed in shock and confusion. "It's possible to catch a Pokemon like that!?"
Ash grinned. "Of course it counts."
Cabba blinked before he chuckled a little. "Looks like battling a Pokemon isn't the only way to catch a Pokemon." "Wow, this is great! Though, I think Ash has done this before." Mallow added.
"Okay, Rowlet! Come on out!" Ash brought his new Grass/Flying-Type back out. After getting out of the Poke Ball, Rowlet tucked himself into Ash's backpack. Ash was surprised for a moment, but he smiled at the behavior. "Nice. I guess you like my backpack, right, Rowlet?" The Pokemon answered with an affirmed hoot.
Pikachu and Chimchar watched in amusement while Rotom took some pictures of Rowlet in the backpack. "A Rowlet that likes backpacks. Must update data."
As he watched Ash and Pikachu bond with Rowlet, a faint glow from Cabba's armor got his attention. "Huh?" He pulled his Two-Star Dragon Ball out of his armor. He, his Pokemon, and his friends stopped what they were doing and looked at the glowing ball.
"Hey, the Dragon Ball's glowing again!" Ash noticed. Since the two of them have never seen the ball before, both Pikipek and Rowlet tilted their heads in confusion.
"It's like back at the Pokemon School when Xandra showed her own Dragon Ball." Cabba mentioned.
Rotom buzzed in confusion. "Does not compute. I don't have any data on something called Dragon Balls." Mallow looked at the Pokedex. "Then you might want to talk to Xandra. She's been looking for the Dragon Balls for a while."
Ash blinked as he realized something. "Didn't she say that the Dragon Ball glows because it's reacting to another Dragon Ball?"
Mallow smiled and nodded. "That's right! That must mean Cabba's Dragon Ball's trying to tell us that another Dragon Ball must be somewhere on Melemele Island!"
Cabba looked at his Two-Star ball. "If so, then where could it be?"
Somewhere in the bottom of the sea, a faint glow could be seen. Most of the other marine Pokemon either didn't noticed the glow or they just didn't care.
However, one Pokemon was actually really curious about the glow. "Duck?" That Pokemon happened to be a yellow duck Pokemon.
When the glowing died a little, the yellow duck Pokemon swam down, curiosity getting the better of him.
When he got to the bottom, he held his head and tilted it a little in confusion. "Psy?" He picked up the object to get a better look. "Psyduck Psy?"
In the hands of the Pokemon named Psyduck...was actually the Four-Star Dragon Ball!
While Ash may not have gotten a Grubbin, he was able to catch his first Alolan Pokemon; The Grass Quill Pokemon, Rowlet. With the Grass/Flying-Type joining him, Ash's Pokemon family just keeps on growing. At the same time, Cabba and the others are curious on where to find the next Dragon Ball. The search goes on next time on Pokemon Super: Sun & Moon!
