When we last left our heroes on Pokemon Super: Sun & Moon, they were going fishing as part of a special class taught by Lana. It turned out to be better than they thought, not only did they get their third Dragon Ball, but Cabba also caught another Pokemon for his team: a Duck Pokemon named Psyduck. Now it's time to see what adventure the Saiyan will have since there's no school today.
The Wolf & the Cloud
Professor Kukui was set to head out, but he was standing outside on his porch talking to Ash and Cabba. "I'm sorry, boys. I really wanted to show you two the shopping mall. I was even hoping to grab a quick bite to eat together, but some fellow researchers suddenly asked me to come over."
"It's okay." Ash replied. "We'll do some Pokemon battle training. Right, everyone?"
"Pika!" Pikachu agreed.
Rotom perked up. "Good! I can help Ash and Cabba train too!"
Professor Kukui laughed. "I'm sure you can. Even though it's my day off, Pokemon researchers love to debate." The Professor added this sheepishly. "But I have to admit, since I'm one of them too, I guess I really shouldn't talk."
Cabba smiled while looking at his Pikipek who was pecking at a nearby tree. That's when the Saiyan remembered his own plans, so he turned to give the trainer standing next to him an apologetic look. "Sorry, Ash. I can't get in on training today. I actually wanted to look around more of Melemele Island and see the sights with my Pokemon by my side."
Cabba's Pokemon gathered around him. "Chim!/Piki!/Duck!" All three of them happily chirped.
"It's okay, Cabba. I don't really blame you." Ash grinned. "Just let me know what you see when you come home." Pikachu nodded. "Pi Pikachu!"
"And fill me in on the Pokemon you might meet." Rotom added.
Cabba nodded. "I'll be sure to do that, guys." Chimchar got on Cabba's shoulder. "Char!"
Professor Kukui laughed again. "I'll see you two later, alright?"
"See you later, Professor!" Cabba replied. "Bye!" Ash added.
"Pikachu!/Chim Chimchar!/Pikipek!/Psyduck!" the four Pokemon waved.
"Bye-Bye!" Professor Kukui left with Rockruff.
Shortly after, Cabba waved at Ash who waved back. While Ash, Pikachu, and Rotom went back into the house, Cabba, Chimchar, Pikipek, and Psyduck walked away to look around Melemele Island.
Entering their secret base, Judy, Roger, and Sableye looked very tired and unbelievably annoyed.
"Okay, so getting our second Dragon Ball yesterday was a total bust." Roger spoke up. "A majorly total bust!" Sableye growled a correction.
They spent all of last night trying to find their next Dragon Ball in the sandy area around Melemele Island...but the three of them had no luck at all.
Judy turned to glare at her brother a little. "Uh, Roger? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it YOU who said that the next Dragon Ball was somewhere in the water close to Melemele Island?"
"It was." Roger admitted.
"And what did we find?" Judy asked. "Well, we..." Roger nervously began. "Absolutely nothing at all!" Sableye answered the question.
"Exactly, Sableye!" Judy went over to look at the big radar in their base. "We ended up with nothing to bring back with us to add to our Dragon Ball collection! If we keep this up, our wish for global domination will be nothing but a stinking pipe dream!"
Roger thought of something. "This doesn't make any sense. I know it would be a challenge to find the Dragon Balls throughout the four islands of Alola, but it's not possible for them to just vanish."
While Judy was occupied with the radar, Sableye turned to Roger. "What are you trying to say?"
"Well, I'm just thinking...Maybe there might be someone else out there looking for the Dragon Balls as well." Roger answered the Darkness Pokemon's question.
If he had eyelids, Sableye would've blinked a couple of times. "Someone else looking for the Dragon Balls? Do you think it might be those odd balls from that group called Team Skull?"
Judy scoffed. "Are you kidding me? Those guys don't even like Z-Moves, so I seriously doubt that they would know ANYTHING about the Dragon Balls." She never took her eyes off the radar. "But if there is someone out there finding them, I want to know who they are!"
On Melemele Island, Xandra was on a little stroll herself with Muddy walking by her side.
As she walked, Xandra took a deep breath and slowly exhaled out her mouth, enjoying the Alolan breeze. "Such a nice day. Wouldn't you say, Muddy?"
Muddy smiled and nodded in agreement. "Kip Mud!"
"It's the weekend and I'm going to enjoy it in any way possible." Xandra smiled and looked up at the sky.
"Alola, Xandra and Muddy!" Cabba's voice suddenly called out.
"Huh?" Xandra and Muddy looked ahead of them and saw Cabba, Chimchar, Pikipek, and Psyduck coming their way. So, they happily greeted them in return. "Alola!/Mudkip!"
The Saiyan and his Pokemon stopped in front of their friend. Chimchar was on Cabba's shoulder while Pikipek was standing on Psyduck's head. "Out for a walk?" Cabba asked.
"Yeah." Xandra answered. "Decided to head on over to Melemele Island for a little bit." Muddy jumped onto his trainer's shoulder. "Mudkip!"
Cabba smiled. "That's nice." Chimchar nodded. "Char."
"So, what about you?" Xandra asked her Saiyan friend. "What brings you and your Pokemon out here?"
Cabba shrugged his free shoulder. "Well, since there's no school today, I thought I might have a look around Melemele Island with my Pokemon by my side. I never really got a chance to look around the island."
"I see. That's a good way to spend the day." Xandra decided to ask him something else. "Mind if Muddy and I join you?"
At the idea, Cabba smiled and nodded. "I don't mind at all. It's better to spend the day with a friend or two anyway." His Pokemon voiced his agreement.
Xandra grinned. "Nice! Come on." She took the lead with Cabba and the Pokemon following her.
As they walked, Cabba decided to strike up a conversation. "Hey, Xandra? I remember that the Alola Region's made up of four different islands, which one are you from?"
"Me? My home is in Poni Island." Xandra answered.
"Is it far from Melemele Island?" Cabba asked. The four Pokemon were on the ground and having their own friendly chat.
Xandra smiled and shrugged. "It does take a while to get to Pokemon School from there, but it's not really a problem."
Raising an eyebrow, Cabba turned his head to her. "You take an Air Ride Pokemon like Kiawe?"
Xandra shook her head. "Nope. I just fly here myself."
Cabba blinked a couple of times. "You know how to fly?"
Xandra grinned and floated a little off the ground. "Of course I do. In fact, some of the most determined martial artists in Alola can fly without even needing an Air Ride Pokemon."
"Really?" Cabba then began to think back to when he first got to the Pokemon School. "Now that you mention it, Lillie and the others didn't really seem as surprised as Ash and Pikachu when I flew up to avoid the Tauros."
Xandra's feet touched the ground again. "Sophocles told me about that incident. You and Ash really need to be careful, it's not safe to run into the track in the middle of a Tauros race."
Cabba laughed sheepishly. "Well, to be fair, me and him haven't been in Alola that long at the time. You can't really blame us for not knowing about that, right?"
Xandra shrugged and shook her head. "I guess not."
The two of them looked back at the four Pokemon. Pikipek and Psyduck were cheering as they watched Chimchar playfully bash against Muddy. "Those four look like they're having a good time!" Xandra giggled.
"They sure are. Just like back in the school." Cabba thought of something. "Hey, Xandra. How did you and Muddy meet anyway? Did you find him somewhere on Poni Island?"
Xandra shook her head. "Nope. Muddy was actually a gift from my uncle in the Hoenn Region."
"Your uncle?" Cabba asked. Xandra nodded. "Yeah, he's a Pokemon researcher named Professor Birch. One day, I journeyed over to his lab in Littleroot Town all the way in the Hoenn Region to visit him. We had a good time talking and catching up, I even told him about my dream."
"Your dream? What's that?" Cabba asked.
"I'd like to be one of the greatest Tectonic Trainers in the entire planet. I want to be a Tectonic Master!" Xandra pumped her fist up at the answer.
Cabba tilted his head in confusion. "Forgive me for asking, but what's a Tectonic Trainer?"
"Easy, a Tectonic Trainer is a Pokemon Trainer that specializes in Ground-Type Pokemon." Xandra answered before she looked up at the sky. "To me, Ground-Type Pokemon are absolutely amazing! I want to be able to meet and befriend as many Ground-Types as I possibly can...including the Legendary Pokemon Groudon!" The image of multiple Ground-Type Pokemon appeared in her head.
Cabba smiled. "That's incredible!" He took a quick glance at Muddy who was now chasing Chimchar, Pikipek, and Psyduck playfully. "But, that still doesn't explain how you and Muddy met."
Getting back on track, Xandra continued with a sheepish blush on her face. "Of course! Anyway, after I told Uncle Birch about my dream to become a Tectonic Master, he grinned and decided to help me out with that quest." She smiled at her partner as she went on. "He gave me a Pokemon egg and told me that the Pokemon inside will be my first step to mastering Ground-Type Pokemon."
As Cabba looked back and forth between Xandra and Muddy, he put the pieces together. "So, Muddy hatched from the egg your uncle gave you?"
Xandra nodded. "A couple of days after my visit when I got back to Poni Island to continue my training. Right away, that little Mudkip and I got along real well."
Cabba smiled as he looked at the Pokemon. "I remember that Professor Kukui told me that Mudkip's a Water-Type."
Xandra nodded. "That's right. However, once evolved, Muddy will be able to become a Ground-Type as well."
"Really?" Cabba asked. "Really really, my tailed friend." Xandra happily answered.
Suddenly, a couple of balls of sludge came out of nowhere and nearly hitting the Pokemon. "Char!/Mud!/Piki!?/Duck!?" the four Pokemon cried out in alarm, alerting their trainers. "Huh?" Cabba asked. "What the...?" Xandra narrowed her eyes.
The six of them looked to see three familiar figures standing in their way with three Pokemon with them. "Well, well, well, look at what we have here." one of them said.
Cabba took a good look at the three of them. "Hey! You're the three from before! The ones who challenged Kiawe in front of the Pokemon School!"
Xandra folded her arms in annoyance. "What are you doing here, Team Skull?"
The guy with blue hair, Tupp, spoke again. "Team Skull does whatever Team Skull pleases."
The other guy, Zipp, added something himself. "That's right! And nobody's gonna say differently!"
"Yeah, well take your Team Skull nonsense somewhere else." Xandra waved them away. "Can't you see I'm trying to have a nice day with my friend here?"
Tupp just scoffed. "Ha! You think we're just gonna stand aside because you asked us?" "We're not scared of you this time, Xandra." the girl, Rapp, added with confidence.
Zipp took a look at Cabba and recognized him right away. "Hey, Tupp! Look at this. She's with the martial artist who tried to take us on without a Pokemon by his side!"
Tupp looked at the Saiyan himself. "Oh, yeah. I remember you." He laughed a little at Cabba's serious glare. "So, what are you gonna do this time? Try and fight us without a Pokemon like you tried last time?"
"Not this time. I'm a Pokemon Trainer now, so I won't make that mistake again." Cabba replied. Chimchar, Pikipek, and Psyduck stood in front of their trainer and growled at Team Skull.
"Ooh, a tough guy, eh?" Tupp turned his eyes to Rapp and Zipp. "Let's put him in his place, shall we?" Rapp and Zipp agreed with him. "Let's do it!" Their Pokemon were ready as well.
Xandra groaned in annoyance. "Those guys never learn, do they? Let's jump in the fray, Muddy!" Muddy got ready for battle. "Mudkip!"
"Let's get started!" Tupp made the first move. "Salandit, use Flame Burst!"
Rapp was next. "Zubat, Supersonic!"
Zipp made his move. "Garbodor, use Sludge Bomb!"
Slandit, Zubat, and Garbodor made their respective moves at the enemies.
"Muddy, use Water Gun to counter the Flame Burst!" Xandra called out. "Mud!" Muddy fired a stream of water from his mouth at Flame Burst.
While Chimchar and Pikipek avoided the Supersonic attack, the Sludge Bomb was still coming their way. Cabba was ready for it. "Psyduck, Confusion!"
"Psy..." Psyduck's eyes glowed. He used his Confusion to stop the Sludge Bomb in place.
Zipp didn't count on that happening. "What?"
"Rapp, you're up!" Tupp said.
Rapp nodded. "You got it, Tupp! Zubat, use Bite!" Zubat flew over to use Bite on Pikipek.
"Pikipek, keep Zubat away!" Cabba called. "Use Echoed Voice!" Pikipek gave off his Normal-Type attack that made the Bat Pokemon stop in place at the noise coming from the Shiny Woodpecker Pokemon, surprising Rapp.
Tupp growled. "Okay, tough guy! Try this one! Salandit, Venoshock!" Salandit jumped up and fired the Poison-Type attack on Pikipek, making him stop and fall to the ground.
"Pikipek!" Cabba cried out. Despite the attack, Pikipek got back up and was flying again.
Tupp laughed a little. "Top that!"
Cabba growled. "Psyduck, use Water Gun! Chimchar, you use your Ember attack!" Psyduck fired his attack on Salandit while Chimchar shot his Ember on Zubat.
"Hey, don't even think about forgetting about me!" Zipp yelled. "Now, Garbodor, use Venoshock!" Garbodor aimed the attack and got ready to fire.
However, Xandra wasn't going to allow that. "Oh no you don't! Muddy, use Mud Slap!" Muddy used his tail fin to knock some mud on Garbodor, making it unable to fire the attack.
Tupp growled in annoyance. "Why you...!"
"I've got this! Zubat, stop all four of them with Supersonic!" Rapp called out. The Bat Pokemon quickly unleashed Supersonic, making Chimchar, Pikipek, Psyduck, and Muddy grunt in pain from the horrible screeching.
"What does Supersonic do?" Cabba asked through the noise.
Xandra grunted. "It's a move that can leave the target confused! This could be trouble!"
Tupp looked pleased. "Nice job, Rapp! Now we can finish them off! Salandit, use Dragon Rage!" Zipp added his own move. "Garbodor, use Sludge Bomb!"
While Zubat kept using Supersonic, Salandit fired the Dragon-Type attack while Garbodor fired the Poison-Type attack. Both attacks were on their way to the four Supersonic victims. It looked like the attacks were about to hit, when...
Some rocks came out of nowhere and cancelled both Dragon Rage and Sludge Bomb. Everyone didn't have enough time to be completely surprised, because a sudden blur bashed Zubat into a shocked Rapp's arms, stopping the Supersonic attack.
"Huh!?" Cabba and Xandra blinked in both shock and confusion. Zipp blinked a couple of times. "Uh, Tupp? What just happened?"
Tupp scowled. "I don't know, but I don't like it!" He turned to Cabba and Xandra. "Hey, what are you two even trying to pull!?"
"Don't look at us! We don't know what happened!" Xandra snapped. "We're just as surprised as you!" Cabba added. Their Pokemon were able to shake off their confusion.
"Oh yeah?" Rapp didn't believe them. "If you didn't do it, then who did?"
"That would be me!" Something landed in front of Cabba, Xandra, Chimchar, Muddy, Pikipek, and Psyduck. Everyone took a good look at the newcomer, and they saw that it was some kind of wolf Pokemon with sharp rocks around his neck. "And I took the Zubat out because the Supersonic attack was interrupting my quiet morning walk." They were surprised when they heard the Pokemon speak.
"Wha...!?" Zipp blinked a couple of time. "A talking Pokemon!?"
Cabba took a good look at the talking Pokemon. "Hey, this Pokemon looks kinda like Rockruff."
"That's because it's Rockruff's evolved form, a Lycanroc." Xandra explained.
The Lycanroc turned his head a little to Cabba. "Call me Ace."
Tupp growled behind his mask. "You think you can just get in the way!? I won't let some talking wolf make a fool out of me!"
Having enough of the nonsense, Xandra took a step forward. "Okay, that's it! Muddy and I are going to end this nonsense so we can get on with our day!"
"Mud!" Muddy growled and got ready. Xandra held up her left wrist so everyone could see what was on her wrist...which was a Z-Ring.
"A Z-Ring?" Cabba asked. Ace pushed the Saiyan and his three Pokemon back a little. "We may want to step back. I'm familiar with the crystal on her ring."
Tupp was scared. "Oh no!" Rapp held Zubat close. "Not again!" Zipp gulped in fear. "I actually forgot she can use Z-Moves too!"
"Muddy, let's send these guys packing!" Xandra's Z-Crystal gave off a glow. Now she and Muddy were getting their Z-Move ready. "With the pride of Poni coursing throughout our entire bodies, we shall unleash our full power...and make the planet tremble from our might!" Xandra twirled once before she placed her right hand on the ground with her left fist in the air. The Z-Move energy went on over to Muddy. "TECTONIC RAGE!"
And the Z-Move began! First, Muddy stomped on the ground with his front feet, causing a fissure to open underneath not only Salandit and Garbodor, but also Tupp, Rapp, and Zipp. They fell down, with Zubat still in Rapp's arms. Muddy burrowed underground and rushed at Team Skull and slammed into them at full force. Team Skull was sent flying high into the air.
"I HATE THOSE Z-MOVES!" Tupp yelled just before he and the rest of Team Skull flew away from their sight.
Muddy emerged from underground just before the fissure closed up. Xandra rubbed her Mudkip's head. "Great job as always, Muddy!" She praised. "Mud Mudkip!" Muddy happily wagged his tail fin.
Cabba couldn't believe what he just saw. "Whoa! Xandra, that move!" He remembered the kind of trainer his friend wanted to be. "Is that the Ground-Type Z-Move?"
"Sure is! What you just saw was Tectonic Rage, one of my favorite Z-Moves." Xandra answered.
The Saiyan smiled. "Well, that was incredible...but also a little scary." He sheepishly admitted. "Chimchar Chim!" Chimchar happily jumped in place while complimenting his Water-Type friend. "Pek Piki!" Pikipek added. "Duck..." Psyduck's jaw dropped in shock. "Kip Mud!" Muddy thanked the three of them.
The talking Lycanroc who saved them finally spoke up. "Nicely done. I'm impressed by your work."
Both trainers and their Pokemon turned to the Lycanroc. "Well, it never would've happened if you hadn't come along to save us." Xandra told Ace.
"I just had enough of that Supersonic ruining my quiet walk." Ace replied. He decided to ask the two kids a question. "Tell me, who are you two?"
"My name's Cabba." Cabba introduced himself. Xandra pointed a thumb at herself. "And I'm Xandra."
Ace took a good look at the two of them. "You two are not any regular Pokemon Trainers, are you?" The two of them were surprised by the question.
"Not sure how you knew that, but you're right." Xandra confirmed it. "Cabba and I are also martial artists."
Ace nodded. "Had a feeling you were. You both aren't like some of the other Pokemon Trainers I've seen before, and I'm not just saying that because of that tail of his." The Lycanroc turned his eyes to Cabba's waving tail. "So, tell me something else. What brings you guys out here on this sunny day on Melemele?"
"Well, since there's no school today, both Xandra and I thought we'd take a look around the island." Cabba answered. "Do a little exploring."
"I see." Ace replied. Suddenly, there was a glow coming from Cabba and Xandra's outfits, surprising the Lycanroc. "Whoa! What's going on with you two?"
Xandra pulled out her Five-Star Dragon Ball. "These little things are just giving off a glow."
Cabba did the same with his Two-Star Dragon Ball. "It's a sign that there might be another Dragon Ball close by."
Ace took a good look at the two light blue balls. "Wait a minute..." Then his eyes widened. "I remember seeing a ball similar to those!"
Xandra turned to the Lycanroc. "Really? Where is it?"
"Right now, my master's got it with him." Ace answered.
"Your master?" Cabba repeated. "Chim?" Chimchar asked.
"It'll be easier to show you. Follow me." Ace began to walk off the dirt road and into the forest.
Xandra grinned happily. "Awesome! Despite the Team Skull attack, this day just got better! Now we have a chance to get our forth Dragon Ball! Let's go!" She and Muddy happily ran after the Lycanroc.
"Wait, Xandra! I don't think Ace's master would just let us have it!" Cabba tried to stop her...but to no avail. The Saiyan just sighed a little ad put his Dragon Ball back in his armor. "Oh well. Come on, we'd better follow them." After that, Cabba, Chimchar, Pikipek, and Psyduck walked into the forest to follow their friends and the talking Pokemon.
Roger glanced up on the ceiling of their base before he looked over at his sister. Judy was tapping her finger against her arm while looking up at the radar.
Roger sighed and shook his head. "Judy, you've been looking at the radar even since we got back home. Take a break."
"Not until I find out where another Dragon Ball is located!" Judy replied. "It's gotta be around somewhere."
"Give it a rest, Sis." Roger sat up and held up the One-Star Dragon Ball. "They're just seven small Dragon Balls and Alola is made up of four big islands. We won't be able to find them just by looking at a radar non-stop. Besides, tonight's curry night."
Hearing this made Judy finally turn away from the radar. "Will it be extra spicy curry?"
Roger smiled and nodded. "Just the way you like it."
Judy smiled to herself. "Yeah, I guess I could use some time off to have some of Sableye's good cooking." She looked around for their Pokemon friend. "Speaking of which, where is that Darkness Pokemon?"
Roger thought back to when he last saw Sableye. "I think he said something about talking to some of his Pokemon friends."
"But my Morelull and your Grimer are over there, doing their own thing." Judy pointed to her right. They both looked to see Roger's Alolan Grimer watching some TV while Judy's Morelull helped brighten up the TV room.
Roger shook his head. "I mean the Pokemon friends he made outside."
Suddenly, Sableye came running into the room. "Guys! I've got some good news!" He got Judy, Roger, Morelull, and Grimer's attention. He waited until they came over to him. "My friend, Spearow, may have found another Dragon Ball!"
The other four were happy with the news. "Whoa! Are you serious?" Roger asked.
Sableye nodded. "Super serious! She said that a human named Okami has it." He scratched the side of his head a little. "Of course, Spearow also said that this Okami guy lives with a pack filled with Rockruff and Lycanroc, so it might not be that easy getting it."
"A pack of Rockruff and Lycanroc?" Judy blinked a couple of time before she scoffed. "That shouldn't be a problem for us. After all, Morelull can easily put them to sleep with her Spore. Isn't that right, girl?" She gently rubbed her finger on the side of her Grass/Fairy-Type.
"Lull!" Morelull happily replied. Feeling left out, Grimer pointed at himself sadly. "Grimer?"
"Don't worry, Grimer. We'll save you as a last resort in case Spore isn't enough." Roger assured his Pokemon, making him happy again. "Grimer!"
"Now, we're set!" Sableye spoke again. "Let's go pay this Okami a visit."
"Let's." Judy and Roger agreed.
After returning Morelull and Grimer, Judy and Roger took to the sky to find the person named Okami and take the Dragon Ball for themselves. This time, Sableye was on Judy's shoulder.
As they followed Ace through the woods, both Cabba and Xandra had a friendly chat with the Lycanroc. They told him about the Pokemon they've been going to, about their friends, and even about the demise of the Saiyans and Planet Sadala.
"I see. Sorry you had to go through all that." Ace told Cabba. The Saiyan just smiled softly. "That's okay. I mean, sure I'm upset about what happened to my birth planet, but I'll admit, I've been having a good time here on Earth. And who knows, maybe I'll be lucky enough to find another Saiyan here."
Xandra smiled and gently punched Cabba on the arm. "That's right! Surely there's another Saiyan or two out there somewhere, just gotta know where to look."
Suddenly, a howl was heard. "Chimchar?" Chimchar looked around in confusion as did the other three Pokemon.
Ace knew where that howl came from, so he smiled and howled right back.
"What was that about?" Xandra raised an eyebrow. Muddy even tilted his head. "Mudkip?"
"Don't worry, that's just my way of telling my pack that I'm coming home." Ace told them. "In fact, we're almost there."
"We are?" Cabba asked.
"Yep, and we should be back right...about...now!" Ace said. When they stepped out of the forest, Cabba, Chimchar, Pikipek, Psyduck, Xandra, and Muddy were in awe.
Right now, they were in a large rocky area fill with Rockruffs who were training or playing with each other. There were also some Lycanrocs in the area as well watching over the Rockruff or doing their own training. "Wow." Cabba and Xandra muttered in awe. "Char./Pek./Psy./Mud." Their Pokemon voiced their own awe as well.
"You like what you see, kids?" Ace asked with a knowing grin. "This is the pack I grew up with ever since I was a Rockruff." Soon they were spotted by a red wolf Pokemon who growled at the newcomers in warning. The other Pokemon stopped and noticed the two humans and their Pokemon as well.
While Cabba, Xandra, and their Pokemon took a step back in surprise, Ace just calmly raised a paw. "Relax, everyone. They're with me."
While some of the Rockruff and Lycanroc looked unsure, they still trusted the words of their own kind...even if one of the red wolves scoffed and walked away.
Xandra looked at the red wolf Pokemon that growled at them earlier. "Not very welcoming, is he?"
Cabba seemed to understand the reason. "I'm sure it was just his way of defending the pack. Is that right, Ace?"
Ace nodded. "Right on the money."
"What kind of Pokemon was that anyway?" Cabba asked. "Oh, that's a Lycanroc as well." Xandra answered.
"Wait, that was a Lycanroc too?" Cabba asked in confusion.
"It's true." Ace answered. "Us Lycanroc have more than one look depending on what time we evolve. What you just saw was the Midnight form of Lycanroc, which evolve from Rockruff at night. Me? I'm the Midday form of Lycanroc, and we evolve from our Rockruff form in the daytime."
Cabba was amazed. "Wow." Another howl was heard, startling him a little. "What was that?"
Ace chuckled a little. "That would be my master wanting to meet you."
The other Lycanroc moved out of the way so this master of Ace's can walk down a clear path. Some of the Rockruff puppies even happily barked. Cabba, Xandra, and their Pokemon looked ahead to see who Ace's master is.
Coming their way was an old man who still looked to be in fighting shape. The old man had six dots on his forehead that were kinda hard to see. Gray hair that was tied into a long pony tail on the back, gray mustache and beard. The person was wearing brown trousers and shoes, he had white ribbons tied to each arm and he also wore a necklace with the tusks of an animal on it. (A/N: Behold! One of my Male Earthlings from my PS4 version of Xenoverse 2!)
The human was now standing in front of Ace and the two trainers. "Welcome back, Ace. I take it your walk went well?"
"At first, it did." Ace replied. "But it took a bit of an odd turn because of a Zubat's Supersonic."
"I see." the old man turned his attention to the two trainers and their Pokemon. "Oh? Looks like we have some company."
"Yes, Master. These two were in a bit of a jam when I found them, so I decided to help them while also stopping that Supersonic attack."
The old man chuckled. "That's a good boy, Ace." Now he turned his attention to the two kids. "Greetings, kids. I'm Okami the Wolf Hermit. I'm glad to hear that my Lycanroc helped you two out of a tough spot."
Xandra smiled back. "I'm just happy he helped us send those morons from Team Skull packing. It's lucky that we all decided to go for a walk today."
"Quite the coincidence indeed." Master Okami agreed. "What are your names, by the way?"
"My name's Xandra." Xandra picked up her Mudkip. "And this is my partner, Muddy." Muddy waved. "Mudkip!"
Cabba bowed in respect. "My name is Cabba, sir. And these are my Pokemon friends Chimchar, Pikipek, and Psyduck." The three Pokemon greeted the Wolf Hermit as well.
Master Okami took a good look at Cabba. "Hmm, interesting. This young man seems to have quite some power deep within him." He thought to himself.
"Master Okami?" Ace spoke up. When Okami turned to him, Ace continued. "I told them about this blue ball you found after showing me their own. They seemed pretty eager to see it for themselves."
"Blue ball..." Master Okami pulled something out. "Are you children interested in this by any chance?" He showed them what was in his hand...which happened to be the Seven-Star Dragon Ball.
Cabba gasped. "It's the Seven-Star Dragon Ball!" Xandra grinned. "Sweet! Where'd you find it?"
"One of the Rockruffs was burying it on the ground a couple of years ago. Still, we've kept it with us ever since." Master Okami explained.
"Master Okami, please." Cabba spoke politely. "I know you've had the Dragon Ball for quite some time, but can we have it, please?"
"Why? What's so special about this little thing?" Master Okami asked.
Cabba and Xandra took out the Two-Star ball as well as the Five-Star ball. "They're not just any balls. They're very special balls that can help grant a wish once you get all seven together." Xandra explained.
Both Master Okami and Ace blinked in surprise. "Wait, these things grant wishes?" the former asked. "They never told me that." the latter admitted.
Master Okami looked at the Seven-Star Dragon Ball, at the two Dragon Balls in Cabba and Xandra's hands, and then back at Cabba himself. "Hmm..."
Ace raised an eyebrow. "What is it, Master?"
Master Okami quietly nodded to himself. Chimchar and Muddy looked at each other in confusion.
"Okay, after some careful thinking, I've decided to let you kids have the ball." Master Okami told Cabba and Xandra. The two of them smiled happily, until the Wolf Hermit spoke again. "But first, I'd like to see something else first."
Xandra raised an eyebrow. "What's that?"
Master Okami didn't answer right away, instead he looked up at the sky and cupped his hands between his mouth. "FLYING NIMBUS, COME TO ME!" He shouted without warning.
Ace was shocked by the call. "What?! But, Master, no one's been able to fly that cloud in years! Not even you!"
"What's going on?" Cabba asked in confusion. Psyduck tilted his head while Pikipek just shrugged his wings.
Ace sighed and shook his head. "I believe my master wants to put you two to a little test."
"What kind of test?" Xandra asked. Just then, something came flying over to them. "And what is that?"
Soon, a fluffy yellow cloud was now floating in front of Cabba and Xandra. "Cabba, Xandra, say hello to the Flying Nimbus cloud." Master Okami introduced the cloud.
"Flying Nimbus?" Cabba repeated, gently placing his hand on the cloud. Chimchar got on Cabba's shoulder to get a better look at the cloud.
"That's right. That's a magnificent cloud you can ride on." Master Okami explained.
Xandra perked up at this. "Wait, you mean we can ride on the cloud?"
"Like any Air Ride Pokemon." Master Okami answered. "But there is one thing you should know." Both Cabba and Xandra turned to him, as did their Pokemon before he explained some more. "You see, this cloud is kinda picky about her riders. It'll only allow those pure of heart to ride it. If you're not pure, then it won't let you on."
"And that's the test my master has in mind for you two." Ace deadpanned.
"Hold on, are you saying you want to see if we can stay on the Flying Nimbus, sir?" Cabba asked.
Master Okami nodded. "It's not too often that Ace brings guests back home with him, let alone Pokemon Trainers." He ignored Ace's sudden 'Hey!' and continued. "So I want to see if you both have the qualities that the Flying Nimbus wants in a rider. If just one of you is able to get on the Nimbus and stay on, I'll give you both the cloud and the ball."
Cabba, Xandra, and their Pokemon were surprised by the offer. "You will?" Xandra asked. Cabba smiled. "Th-Thank you very much, sir!"
Master Okami smiled and nodded. "So, who's first?"
Xandra stepped up. "I'll give it a try! Let's do it, Muddy!" "Mudkip!" Muddy was happily on his trainer's shoulder. Everyone watched as Xandra got ready to try and get on the Flying Nimbus. She jumped up to get on the cloud, but as she tried to land on the cloud...she and Muddy yelped as they fell through the cloud and hit the ground.
"You okay, Xandra?" Cabba asked. "Chimchar?" Chimchar asked the same thing to Muddy. Both Pikipek and Psyduck laughed a little.
Xandra groaned and sat up. "I guess that means I've failed the test?" Muddy got up and shook himself a little. "Mud..."
"I'm afraid so, my dear." Master Okami turned his head to Cabba. "Okay, my boy. Now it's your turn."
Cabba blinked and pointed to himself. "Me?" Master Okami just silently nodded his head. Cabba looked back at the Flying Nimbus and took a deep breath. "Okay, here it goes." Closing his eyes and with Chimchar still on his shoulder, Cabba jumped up to get a chance to ride the cloud. Soon, he landed on something soft.
Thinking he failed as well, Cabba kept his eyes closed when he asked the Wolf Hermit a question. "Did I fail too, sir?"
Master Okami and Ace couldn't believe what they were seeing. "Whoa." the latter muttered. Master Okami formed a smile on his face. "At last."
"Master Okami?" Cabba asked, confused by the silence.
"Cabba, open your eyes! You did it!" Xandra told her friend.
"I did?" Cabba opened his eyes to look down. To his surprise, what he was standing on was the Flying Nimbus cloud itself. He couldn't believe it! Chimchar smiled happily and congratulated his Saiyan trainer. "Char! Chimchar Chim!"
"Piki Piki Pikipek!/Psyduck Psy Duck!" Both Pikipek and Psyduck also congratulated their trainer on passing Master Okami's test.
Master Okami smiled at the Saiyan. "Congratulations, Cabba. You've passed the test. The Flying Nimbus is now yours." The Wolf Hermit turned to Xandra as he gave her the Seven-Star Dragon Ball. "And this is now yours as well."
Xandra held up the Dragon Ball. "Cool! I may not have been able to stay on the cloud, but at least we've got our forth Dragon Ball."
Cabba sat down on the cloud to look at the Dragon Ball. "That means there's only three more Dragon Balls left to find."
Ace looked over at Cabba. "That's good to know, but my master didn't just give you the Flying Nimbus for you to sit on."
Master Okami agreed with his talking Lycanroc. "He's right, Cabba. Why don't you take her for a test ride?"
Cabba looked down at the cloud he was on. He had no idea what to do, so he'd have to trust the cloud to help him out. "Okay, I'll try. How about a little test flight, Nimbus?" Before he knew it, the Flying Nimbus began to fly around fast. Both Cabba and Chimchar screamed and tried to stay on. The Saiyan found himself standing up on the cloud again. It wasn't long until he got the hang of it, and soon the screaming turned into happy laughing.
"This is amazing!" Cabba happily cried out. "Chimchar Chim!" Chimchar agreed happily.
"Nimbus, let's go back and pick up Pikipek and Psyduck! They should have fun too!" Cabba told the cloud. The Flying Nimbus flew back down to where the others were at, and Cabba scooped up his other two Pokemon to enjoy the ride themselves. At first, Pikipek and Psyduck were startled, but soon they found themselves having a good time with Cabba and Chimchar.
Xandra chuckled as she watched her friend and his Pokemon having a good time with the Nimbus cloud. "Look at that, a boy, his Pokemon, and his cloud." She turned to the Wolf Hermit. "I think you've made his day fantastic, Master Okami. I've never seen him so happy."
Master Okami laughed a little himself. "I guess I did."
Soon Cabba brought the Nimbus cloud down in front of the others. "Had a nice ride?" Ace asked with a knowing smirk on his face.
Cabba happily nodded his head. "That was the most fun I've ever had!" He turned his head to the Wolf Hermit. "Thank you so much, Master Okami!"
"No thanks are needed, Cabba. I'm just glad to see you getting along real well with the Flying Nimbus." Master Okami said kindly. "Why I'm sure you'd be able to bring that kind of happiness to any of the martial arts tournaments in the Alola Region."
Cabba blinked in confusion. "You mean the Alola Region has martial arts tournaments?"
Xandra answered the question. "Of course there are. You see, Cabba, since the Alola Region is home to many martial artists, all four of the islands have special arenas for a tournament where some of Alola's finest fighters gather and compete against each other to determine the greatest fighter in all of Melemele, Akala, Ula'Ula, or Poni."
Cabba was amazed by what he heard. "Whoa, amazing. I'd like to compete in a tournament held on Melemele Island myself."
"Well, you might have to wait until they announce it." Master Okami spoke up, causing the others to turn to him. "It takes a while for the four islands to get the most amazing tournaments together so the audience can have a good show."
Cabba glanced over at Xandra, she just shrugged. "It's true."
Master Okami smiled at the two. "Until then, you two are more than welcome to train with me."
"Huh?" Cabba and Xandra blinked in confusion.
Ace cleared his throat. "Allow me to explain. Master Okami is known as the Wolf Hermit. He not only watches over the Rockruff and Lycanroc in this pack, but he's also one the greatest martial artists known throughout the Alola Region. He takes on a couple of students to train in the ways of the wolf."
Cabba smiled and bowed. "Master Okami, I'd be honored to be trained by you. Ever since I got to Alola, I wanted to start my training over from the beginning." A question came to him. "But wait, I'm going to Pokemon School. Is that going to be a problem, Master?"
Okami chuckled lightly. "Not at all, Cabba. I'm familiar with the school you're talking about. You don't have to rush to come train with me, just drop by anytime. I'm sure Professor Kukui would be okay with it."
Cabba smiled and nodded. "Thank you, sir!" His three Pokemon happily cheered. "Chim!/Pek!/Duck!"
Xandra, however..."Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass. I'm more of a self trainer with my own training regimen, both for my Pokemon and myself." Muddy nodded to confirm it. "Kip Mudkip."
Master Okami nodded in understanding. "Of course, you just keep training in your own way, young Xandra." He turned to the Saiyan. "And I'll be looking forward to training you when you're ready, my boy."
"I promise to do my best, Master." Cabba bowed a little.
Ace looked up at the sky. "Wow, look at that." Everyone looked up to see that the sky was turning orange.
Master Okami laughed a little. "That late already, eh?"
Xandra shrugged. "I guess time really does fly when you least expect it. Muddy and I should probably get back to Poni Island. I'll see ya later, Cabba."
"See you tomorrow, Xandra." Cabba and his Pokemon waved. Xandra and Muddy waved back before the former picked up the latter and took off to the sky to return to Poni Island.
Returning Pikipek and Psyduck, Cabba turned to the Wolf Hermit. "I should probably get back myself. Don't want to make Ash and Professor Kukui worry about me. Thank you again, Master Okami and Ace. Bye!" He and Chimchar waved while using the Flying Nimbus to return home.
Master Okami and Ace waved in return. "So long, my boy! Tell Professor Kukui I said 'Hi'!" The Rockruff and Lycanroc gave the boy and goodbye howl as well.
Ace chuckled. "They seem like good kids." Master Okami nodded. "Agreed. I'd like to see how well Cabba will take my training."
Suddenly, a Midnight Lycanroc came to them to warn them about something. "What is it, brother?" Ace asked.
The Lycanroc pointed up behind them. "Lycan." Both Ace and Master Okami turned around just as Judy, Roger, and Sableye landed on the ground.
"So, you're Okami, right?" Roger asked the Wolf Hermit.
"That's what most people call me." Master Okami replied with a serious look on his face.
Judy held out her hand. "Okay, hand it over."
"Hand what over?" Master Okami calmly asked.
Judy turned to the Darkness Pokemon. "Sableye, show them what we're looking for."
Sableye nodded and held out the One-Star Dragon Ball. "We're looking for a ball like this called a Dragon Ball. Give it to us and we won't hurt you." the Dark/Ghost-Type explained.
Ace took a good look at the ball while nodding. "I see...Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm afraid you're too late."
"What!?" Judy, Roger, and Sableye yelled in shock.
Master Okami shrugged with his hands behind his back. "We did have the ball, but we just gave it away to a couple of Pokemon Trainers. One had a tail and the other had light purple hair. Said something about gathering the balls for some wish."
The news shocked the thieves even more. "Another group looking for the Dragon Balls?" Sableye asked in disbelief. Roger grunted. "I knew it!"
Judy growled. "Where'd those two trainers go?"
"I'm afraid I'm not telling you." Master Okami said with his eyes closed.
"Oh really?" Judy brought out her Morelull while Roger brought Grimer out. She spoke again. "I know that your friends here don't do well against Grass-Types, so let's try again. Are you going to tell us where those two trainers went with the Dragon Ball, or am I gonna have to let my Morelull take down your friends?"
Ace just shook his head. "Well, Master?"
Okami said nothing, but he did snap his fingers. At the call, a bunch of Lycanroc, both Midday and Midnight stood in front of the thieves. At first, Judy, Morelull, Roger, Grimer, and Sableye weren't afraid...but that quickly changed when fire appeared around the fangs of the Midday Lycanroc and the fists of the Midnight Lycanroc.
While the humans gulped and Grimer held Morelull in fear, Sableye just muttered something. "Well, this is gonna leave a burning bruise."
Just after Sableye said, the Lycanroc sent the thieves flying far away screaming with Fire Punch and Fire Fang.
Master Okami and Ace watched as the Dragon Ball thieves were sent flying away. "Just who were they anyway?" Ace asked. Master Okami shrugged. "Some goofs, I'm sure." With that done, the Wolf Hermit and the pack of Rockruff and Lycanroc decided to go back to doing their own thing. The Wolf Hermit himself was actually looking forward to when he'll be able to teach the young Saiyan the ways of the wolf once their paths cross once again.
What was supposed to be a peaceful day for Cabba and Xandra turned out to be quite an experience for them both. Not only did they get their forth Dragon Ball, but now Cabba has his own ride: the Flying Nimbus cloud. Now the young Saiyan's excited to train under the watchful eye of Okami, the Wolf Hermit! However, Judy and her gang of Dragon Ball thieves know that there's some competition for the Dragon Balls and will find out once and for all who's gathering them all before them. Brace yourself, Cabba! The journey continues next time on Pokemon Super: Sun & Moon!
