A/N: Finally getting back to this story, I appreciate you guys being patient, but as I've said many times before, life happens and I'm just a busy guy in general. Anyway, the Viking's time in Paris is concluding, and to reach their new home, they'll need to go through Paris first. Let's get to it!

(Frankia— Paris)

A cool morning breeze caressed Paris as though it was trying to keep her from being too flustered. Church bells sounded as citizens were amassing within the churches and because of their victory over the Vikings not long ago, the Franks believed they wouldn't attack them. With only a handful of sentries on the lookout, Paris was virtually undefended, ripe for the taking.

Savage had warned Gudleif and Dotta that it was unwise to leave their city so vulnerable, but of course, his counsel was belittled and cast aside. He and his Deviants were forced out of Paris with only enough gold and silver to get them by, not the amount that was agreed upon for aiding in the defense of Paris. Outraged for being used and not adequately rewarded to compensate for the losses his tribe had endured, Savage decided that he would leave the Boy Emperor and his people to suffer at the hands of Hiccup Haddock and his followers, they would exact revenge on their behalf. The Viking criminals and outcasts would move on to seek new opportunities but as they left Paris, Savage smirked to himself, even though Hiccup and his followers wanted to take Paris, they would not claim his life and the lives of those under his command.

One day soon, however, Savage would lead his tribe against Hiccup's followers and see that the Haddock name is lost to history.

But with the Deviants now far from Paris, the King of Vikings led his people into battle. With Esmeralda's help, the warriors were led into the catacombs beneath the city. These catacombs led to the sewers, and the stench of human filth, waste, and decaying corpses was so revolting that the Vikings had to cover their noses and mouths with face covers until they were finally inside the city.

"What an incredible smell we've discovered," Snotlout gagged in disgust as he and the other Vikings tread through sewage, waste, and filth that was waist deep.

"Tell me about it, Snotters," Tuffnut groaned as he turned to his wife, Thorhild. "You ever do anything like this before?"

"Treading through the muck and filth of humans and animals alike? No, I have not," Thorhild hissed at Esmeralda as she led the way with a torch in hand. "Oi! How much longer?"

Looking over her shoulder, the beautiful street performer gave the aggravated Bog Burglar a reassuring look. "We're nearly there, my friend. Trust me,"

"I hope so. Ughh, if I wasn't awake now, this certainly has woken me up," Astrid winced in disgust as she was by her husband's side. Turning to Hiccup, the Queen of Vikings nudged him playfully. "The smell is almost as bad as Mildew's cabbage patch back on Old Berk."

"Almost, being the operative word," Fishlegs remarked with a chuckle while gagging violently. "Oh, this is unbearable."

"Trust me, everyone, this isn't how I want to spend my morning either, but once we get out, we'll do what we do best," Hiccup assured his friends and followers.

Eventually, the group reached a small series of steps that led out of the sewers. Esmeralda tossed the torch on the top of the steps while ascending and removing the lid that kept the foul stench of the sewers at bay. Peaking her head above ground, the street performer nodded at Hiccup, silently telling him that the coast was clear. As hundreds of Vikings poured out of the sewers, they removed their face covers and breathed in fresh air greedily.

"Oh, sweet baby Thor in a thunderstorm, I've never craved fresh air more in my life!" Snotlout sighed in relief.

"You could say that again," Camicazi pushed her past her lover's cousin while also shaking off excess sewage and filth from her boots. "Ugh! After we take Paris, I plan on taking a warm bath and enjoying fresh, clean clothes."

"First things first, Cami," Hiccup got his friend and lover to focus on the task at hand. The streets of Paris were all but empty and the church bells that were ringing finally stopped and soon the sound of a muffled chorus could be heard. "Alright, the Franks are all gathered in the churches and places of worship for now. We'll need to make our way to the front gate and let the rest of our forces inside and then we'll do what we do best. Everyone ready?"

"Ready when you are, babe," Astrid smiled.

Acknowledging his wife with a smile of his own, Hiccup turned to Esmeralda. "Retreat to the Court of Miracles with the rest of your friends. When the chaos and bloodshed are over, I'll have people come and fetch you," the beautiful street performer bowed her head and returned to the sewers. Hiccup then reached for his helmet, placing it over his head. "Let's finish this," his words caused those present to nod and follow their king as they moved swiftly to the front gate.

"Pfft! The fact that the Franks are so overconfident in their victory over us to practically leave their city virtually unprotected is laughable," Snotlout chuckled. "And I thought Christians were supposed to be humble."

"They left a few sentries manning the walls and gates, but I have to agree with Snotlout, the Franks' overconfidence will be their downfall today," Fishlegs remarked.

Making her way to the front, Princess Aud turned to both Snotlout and Fishlegs. "We would be fools to underestimate our enemies even though we have the advantage at the moment. Stay on guard," catching up to Hiccup, the princess of the Fairhair dynasty then voiced her thoughts. "Gudleif and Dotta are probably within Notre Dame, as well as the elite class of Paris. Once we open the gates, my mother and I will lead our forces against the "righteous" who killed my brother and slaughtered our people."

"Let's just focus on getting to the gate first, Aud," Hiccup turned to his hotheaded ally before reaching for his shield which was strapped behind his back and activating the crossbow feature. After loading a bolt, Hiccup and his group reached the front gate and found several guards on watch. "Archers, pick your targets," he whispered to those with bows. Once the archers were ready, Hiccup took the first shot and the archers followed their king's lead, the guards manning their stations at the front gate dropped like flies.

Once the group reached the gate, Hiccup had Snotlout, Fishlegs, and those of great strength get to work on raising the gate. Turning to Tuffnut and Thorhild, the king had them signal the rest of their army which was lying in wait beyond the city to advance. While the remaining Vikings were on guard, a faint rumbling could be heard which grew louder and louder by the minute. Soon enough, Vikings and Scandinavian warriors poured through the now wide-open gate and began to do what their king had commanded them to do.

Those on the backs of dragons began to have their reptilian companions burn down the nearest church that was full of people, but not before barring the people inside to prevent their escape. Bog Burglars under the command of Big Boobied Bertha were ordered to ransack every home and structure and take anything of value-- wealth, resources, livestock, and weapons. The Meatheads, now led by Chief Thuggory had his army slay the Paris Inquisition while they were unaware of the breach within the city, those who were patrolling the city were killed without pity or mercy. Every other Viking faction whether they were Pagan or Christian was ordered to unleash chaos, forcing the people of Paris out of their places of worship and face the full wrath of the Scandinavian people. Not all the people of Paris were to be killed, only those who posed a threat, any who were foolish enough to challenge them were to be killed.

As fire, death, and chaos began to eat Paris alive, Hiccup whistled for Toothless, and the Night Fury was by his side in moments. Mounting up, the King of Vikings turned to his wife and fellow riders. "Alright, let's find Emperor Gudleif, he's bound to be within Notre Dame along with his sister and the elite class of Paris," the group of dragon riders made their way to a huge city square where Notre Dame was, they were many Inquisition soldiers guarding the doors, and upon laying eyes on the encroaching Vikings, they took action; hurling spears and raising crossbows, Hiccup barked over the ensuing chaos. "Evasive action!" Toothless ducked and rolled away from several spears before firing multiple plasma bolts at the enemy soldiers, sending them all flying in multiple directions while being devoured by violet flames.

Swatting away a crossbow bolt with her battle axe, Astrid pointed at the enemy marksman. "Stormfly, spines!" Squawking in acknowledgment, the Deadly Nadder brandished her spiky tail and released a torrent of spines, killing the marksman shooting at them.

Fishlegs steered Meatlug toward the cathedral doors and patted his dragon's head. "Spew, girl!" The Gronckle fired multiple blasts of lava at the massive doors of Notre Dame.

While Fishlegs and Meatlug were battering at the door, Ruffnut and Tuffnut steered Barf and Belch to the nearest window and broke it. "Oops," grinning to herself, Ruffnut patted Barf. "Let loose," as gas began to pour inside the church, a crossbow bolt nearly took Tuffnut's head off.

"Whoa!" Ducking just in time, the male twin peaked through the hole the crossbow bolt had caused and he stuck his tongue out. "You missed, butt elf!" Once the occupants within the cathedral were choking on Zippleback gas, Tuffnut grinned as he nodded at Belch. "You know what to do." Grinning at the Viking on his neck, Belch lit the gas, and the following explosion caused all the glass windows downstairs in the cathedral to blow out, glass rained down and shattered to pieces on the ground.

The doors to Notre Dame soon were battered down when Skullcrusher punched through them as though they were nothing. Emperor Gudleif and his sister, Dotta, along with the elite class of Paris were caught completely off guard that the Vikings were attacking. Any surviving Inquisition soldiers were struck down by Skullcrusher firing fireballs, leaving them completely at the mercy of the Vikings.

"We must leave!"

"We cannot! The savages have the door occupied. We're trapped!"

"Our soldiers are dead, what can we do against these brutes and their dragons?!"

As Viking warriors who were under the Fairhair banner rushed inside the cathedral, slaughtering nobles, dukes, priests, and the people within, Gudleif and Dotta ran for their lives.

"E-Emperor? Princess? Where are you going?" Claude Frollo, who was desperately looking for a way out noted his rulers using a secret exit.

Turning to the Minister of Justice in Paris, Gudleif gave the old man an unholy smile. "Escaping. What does it look like, old man?"

"N-No! Wait, you cannot just leave us here to die!" Frollo ran to the exit his rulers were using.

Sharing her brother's smile, Dotta remarked cruelly. "In fact, we can," as Gudleif was closing the door, the princess winked at the panicking Frollo. "Your services are no longer required, Frollo. May you be barred from entering heaven."

"NO!"

As the door closed and was locked, Frollo pounded at the door while desperately trying to get it open. He was stopped when a strong hand whirled him around, he was then met with the butt of Princess Aud's bloodied sword. Slumping against the wall, Frollo cradled his jaw but was soon crying out in terror and despair as several Fairhair warriors dragged him to the cathedral's altar. "Good God, no! NO!" Frollo writhed and squirmed like a trapped animal, but the Viking's grip was too strong. Once the warriors cleared the altar, they held down Frollo while Aud approached.

Turning to the bishop of the cathedral who held in front of him a golden cross in his trembling hands, Aud snatched it out of his hand before running him through with her sword. After withdrawing her sword from the now-dead bishop, Aud tossed the cross to one of her shield maidens and nodded at her. "Melt it down," now approaching the squirming Frollo, Aud loomed over him like the sword of Damocles. "Claude Frollo, a "righteous" man. You have played a role in the suffering of our people here and the death of my little brother— Folkwin Haraldson."

Grunting against the firm grip of Viking warriors, Frollo snarled. "Your heathen brother is now where he belongs— in the fires of hell. As will you and the rest of you heathens,"

Looming over the insolent old man, Aud bore her teeth while grabbing Frollo's face. "And you believe your actions are worthy of you entering heaven? We are all monsters. Those who consider themselves righteous, like you, are more monstrous than others," Aud released her hold on Frollo and nodded at the warriors at her back. "Hurt him." In that moment, Frollo became aware of many things at once: the altar beneath him. The roaring of Vikings and dragons laying siege to Paris. The powerful grip on his limbs, which even now felt like they would crack under the pressure.

Desperate to escape the grisly fate that awaited him, Frollo was slammed back down by a larger Viking who was pounding his skull into the stone altar to the point where it felt like his head would split open. The shield maiden who had melted the cross approached Aud and handed the princess a cup full of melted, bubbling gold. "Open his mouth," Frollo's eyes widened in horror at Aud's command, two men forced his mouth wide open, and despite his efforts to bite their fingers and keep his mouth shut, it was useless. Glaring at the whimpering Minister of Justice, Aud hissed. "You claim to be righteous, but when you die, let's see if you are worthy to join God in heaven or if you will join the rest of us "heathens," in hell." She then poured the molten gold into Frollo's mouth, his blood-curdling screams and grotesque gurgling filled the air. With his esophagus burned, the molten gold filled the whole of Frollo's mouth. Once the thrashing and dying Frollo was now lifeless, Aud tossed the cup that held the molten gold aside and spat on the dead Minister of Justice.

"Princess Aud!"

Turning around, several of Fairhair shield maidens entered the cathedral. One of them spoke up. "Your mother and the warriors under her command have found Gudleif and Dotta. They've retreated to their castle and have an army protecting them," she then gave the princess an inquisitive look. "What do you command?"

"We rip that Boy Emperor's army to shreds, drag him out of his castle, and execute him for all to bear witness," Aud stormed out of the cathedral, her shield maidens following her as she then led the Fairhair warriors under her command to follow her to where her prey was hiding.

"Break that gate down!"

Queen Gora, who was perched on the back of her horse watched as her army formed a shield wall while also wielding a massive battering ram to break down the gates of the Boy Emperor's castle. Frankish soldiers were along the walls with crossbows in hand as well as pouring massive cauldrons of steaming oil and then igniting the oil on fire to slow the Viking's advance. Many Fairhair warriors were devoured by the fire, their screams entwined with the sounds of battle, chaos, and death.

"The fire is too much!"

"We can't get through!"

"Bring in the dragons!"

Looking over her shoulder, Queen Gora watched as several of her warriors who had bonded with Catastrophic Quakens urged their dragons to bring down the gate. But before they could give the command, Gudleif, emperor of Paris ordered his men to stand down and to request a temporary parley with the Fairhair army. As a white flag was being waved, the Vikings looked to their queen, awaiting her response to this.

"Acknowledge their parley,"

One of the Vikings waved a white flag, acknowledging Gudleif's parley.

"Mother. What is this?"

Looking down at her daughter, Aud, Queen Gora replied. "I have just acknowledged a parley between us and the Boy Emperor. I want to hear what he has to say, before seeing him and his sister die,"

"Allow me to speak with him, mother," Aud's face was stern as she looked at the walls of the castle before her. "I have a proposal for him that will determine whether or not he has the balls to face a Viking face-to-face, rather than killing one in their sleep. The sins of his father are now his to bear, and one way or another, he will answer for his family's treachery with blood." Contemplating whether or not this was wise or not, Queen Gora knew that her passionate daughter would get what she wanted eventually, so she allowed Aud to challenge Gudleif.

Aud had been waiting for this moment for a very long time, and she would not be denied. She knew that if Gudleif had his archers shoot her down, then the full wrath of the Fairhair dynasty would wash him and his people away, despite praying for the Boy Emperor to be that stupid, Aud wanted to face him in combat and reclaim her brother Folkwin's honor. Once the princess was several feet away from the castle gate, Aud looked up at her prey with a stern glare before speaking for all to hear. "Look around you, boy. Your overconfidence has led to the destruction of your city and the suffering of your people. Now your failure ends with you laying dead at my feet!" Tilting her head, Aud challenged. "Why not come down and fight yourself, like a man? And do battle with honor."

"Honor?" Scoffing, Gudleif shook his head. "Why would I have to stoop so low as to meet a filthy savage in battle? I need only command my men to fill your chest full of arrows and be done with it. You are unworthy of meeting me face to face."

"Such brave words, from a boy, hiding behind a wall," Aud knew that to get Gudleif to act foolishly, she would need to provoke him. And that's what she would do. "Where I come from, we have a word for that..." turning to her fellow Vikings, Aud barked out. "...bleyða!" The Fairhair Vikings all began to laugh before they all began pounding their weapons against their shields or chests while chanting the word Aud had called Paris' young ruler.

"Bleyða!"

"Bleyða!"

"Bleyða!"

Turning back to the young ruler, Aud began chuckling. She could see Gudleif flustered as his cheeks turned crimson and his jaw tensed violently. "Yes. You know what we call you, boy," pointing up at him, Aud grinned. "You are a coward. As was your father." Extending her arms out, the princess continued. "If you will not fight, then your people, those who survive at least, will see you unfit to rule, and rightly so! What kind of ruler refuses to meet his enemies in combat when that enemy has your people by the throat?"

"I'm warning you, girl—"

"You wish to preserve the face of your rule? A great opportunity presents itself to you. I call a hólmgang and challenge you to meet me in combat!"

Overcome by passion and embarrassment, Gudleif removed himself from the wall and ordered his men to open the gates of his castle. Smirking to herself, Aud drew her sword and reached for her shield strapped behind her back. As the gates to the castle opened, Gudleif stormed forward, sword and shield in his hand as he snarled with his teeth bore. "You will taste no victory today, heathen!" With an enraged cry, Gudleif swung his blade at Aud's head, but the princess ducked underneath the swing and bashed her shield into her opponent's back, causing him to fall to the gore-slicked ground. "Argh! You dare touch me?!"

"Get up, Boy Emperor. Your humiliation is far from over. Am I right?" Aud's words caused the Fairhair Vikings to roar in agreement, they all began to cheer for their princess while hurtle insults and taunts at Gudleif, who was overcome by anger that he was fighting like a drunk man. The Boy Emperor swung at Aud's waist, but his blade was stopped by her shield. Locking eyes with each other, the Fairhair princess bashed her head against Gudleif's head, sending him back to the ground and causing the Vikings to cheer for their princess. Tapping her sword against her opponent's raised shield, Aud grinned playfully. "Are you alright, lord? Would you like a moment to catch your breath?" Laughing when her opponent swung at her feet, she jumped over the sword before clamping her feet down on his blade and landing a ferocious kick to Gudleif's face, causing blood and spittle to fly out of his mouth.

"Kill him!"

"Gut him like a fish!"

"Rip his face off!"

The roars of the Fairhair Vikings were ferocious, they demanded the blood of Gudleif, and Aud aimed to please. Looming over her defeated opponent, the Fairhair princess looked to the enemy soldiers manning the walls as well as Princess Dotta who was watching the humiliating spectacle from atop the walls of her family's castle. "People of Paris. I didn't come here for your lands or your riches. I came for one thing and one thing only. The head of Paris' ruler!" Roars of elation from the Vikings were loud enough to make anyone deaf, they caused Gudleif to wince violently and scramble away, Aud, however, pressed a foot into the back of her opponent's neck, and her blade was ready to take his head off. "Unfortunate circumstances have robbed me of claiming your father's head. Yours, however, will do just fine." Just as she was about to deliver the killing blow, she was stopped.

"Aud! I want him alive!"

Silence fell upon the field as King Hiccup and a large force of warriors loyal to him arrived. To say Aud was shocked that Hiccup would deny her family vengeance was a gross understatement. Looking down at the whimpering Gudleif, Aud looked back up to Hiccup before shaking her head.

Sharing her daughter's shock and disbelief, Queen Gora spoke up. "No. You promised us vengeance for our family."

"I've changed my mind,"

"Lied to us, you mean!" Aud rebuked. "After all I have done for you here, this is how you repay me?! You cannot deny my family of exacting vengeance now!"

"I can. And I will," Hiccup's stern tone was followed by his Kingsguard drawing their swords and surrounding Aud. The Fairhair Vikings were stopped by the warriors Astrid was leading, the dragon riders and archers turned to the wall to ensure the Franks were kept at bay. Aud inhaled sharply and was prepared to strike down Gudleif, but Hiccup spoke up. "If that sword strikes, your head will land next to his." Panting heavily, Aud's blood began to boil, and her desire to disobey the King of Viking's command grew with each passing second, however, she also needed to consider what the repercussions her actions would bring on not just her people but her mother as well. "Things change, and we must change with them, Aud. You must sacrifice revenge for power." Hiccup, who by this point had dismounted Toothless and approached the fuming princess.

After what felt like a lifetime, Aud removed her blade from Gudleif's neck and stormed off in fury, but not before cleaving a wooden table in half with one strike while roaring out in outrage. Turning to Queen Gora, the King of Viking gestured to her daughter. "Go to her, when she's cooled off, I wish to speak with her," Gora was reluctant to comply, but she nodded and ordered the Fairhair army to withdraw for the time being.

"Well, that went as well as you would expect," Astrid commented while still perched on Stormfly's back. Tilting her head in curiosity, the queen tried to gauge her husband's actions. "Why spare Gudleif?"

Looking up at his wife, Hiccup approached, petting Stormfly while winking at Astrid. "Trust me, Milady. You and everyone else will find out soon enough."

"Oooh, very cryptic," Snotlout remarked before gesturing around them. "Now that Paris is essentially ours, what now?"

"Feasting and humping sounds pretty good to me," Tuffnut grinned.

"You have me at feasting," Ruffnut shared her brother's grin in agreement.

Fishlegs snorted at his wife. "Of course you are, darling," turning to Hiccup, the hulking Ingerman shrugged before speaking in a serious tone. "The Fairhair rulers won't take your actions lightly. Are you sure you know what you're doing?"

Hiccup didn't reply, instead, he looked in the direction Aud had stormed off and was prepared to deliver her his ultimatum to the Fairhair princess.

As early evening fell, the Vikings had rounded up the citizens of Paris and had them in secluded in their homes for the time being while the rest of Hiccup's followers made their way into the city and settled for the time being until they were ready to depart. For the street performers who sought sanctuary in the Court of Miracles beneath the city, they finally came above ground and were free to mingle with the Scandinavians and then leave whenever they wished. Upbeat music played throughout the city, Vikings drank and were merry until they could no longer, and those of royal standing in Paris were thrown in the dungeons for the time being.

However, not everybody was celebrating the sacking of Paris.

Princess Aud was sitting in a brothel, mug of ale in hand, and murder on his mind. She had just finished venting her resentment and anger towards Hiccup to her mother. Queen Gora shared similar sentiments, however, she also knew that the King of Vikings wasn't the average Viking, whatever his reasons are for sparring Gudleif and Dotta had to be for a reason. Now alone to drink and wallow in anger, Aud failed to notice a group of Hiccup's guards approaching from behind. They quickly snatched her sword off of her hip as well as the dagger she had in her hand, causing the livid princess to whirl around in rage before noticing the men surrounding her were the king's guards.

"Hahaha, Snotlout!"

Bolting up from her seat, Aud sized up the king's cousin with gritted teeth. Snotlout inspected Aud's blade while smirking at her, finding her anger to be humorous. "If you value your well-being, Jorgenson, you will leave me alone—"

"Can't do that, princess," he winked before gesturing to the castle outside. "Hiccup wants to talk to you. Now."

Huffing, Aud nodded and followed Snotlout and the guards accompanying him as they marched her to the castle. Within the grand structure, Vikings were still pillaging every of value while: wealth, weapons, fine clothing, and anything else that would be of use. Once reaching the castle's dining hall, Hiccup was surrounded by the leaders of Viking and Scandinavian peoples, discussing that they would rest in Paris for the week before continuing to push to Germany and start anew.

"Princess Aud, as requested, cuz,"

Acknowledging Snotlout's words with a nod, Hiccup dismissed the leaders as well as his cousin and guards, leaving the King of Vikings alone with a homicidal Viking princess. As the doors to the hall closed, the tension was palpable, Aud, however, broke the tension after a long period of silence.

"I am the wrong woman to be left alone in a room with right now, Haddock,"

"I know you're angry—"

"Angry?!" Laughing dryly, Aud shook her head. "I'm not angry. I am MURDEROUS!" She bellowed out in rage.

"Be that as it may, it's a risk that I must take," Hiccup deadpanned. "I need your help—"

"My help?" Scoffing, Aud seethed. "You should've thought about that before you lied to me about Gudleif!"

Turning sharply at the seething princess, Hiccup spoke firmly. "Aud, from the moment our people set foot in these lands, you have been my right hand. I still need you—"

"There is absolutely nothing you can say that will ever make me help you, not after what you did,"

As Aud took her leave, Hiccup spoke up. "Not even if I make you Queen of Paris?"

Stopping dead in her tracks, Aud turned to Hiccup with a shocked and curious look. "You want to make me your vassal queen. Someone to look after your interests here in Frankia," her statement caused Hiccup to nod, and Aud narrowed her eyes at the king. "Why?"

"Call it an experiment to see if I can trust you. Fully trust you,"

"You dare speak of trust? After everything I did for you here?!"

"I know that you colluded with Harald and his allies, whispering of treachery and plots to overthrow me ever since we were in England,"

Aud's face blanched slightly, her heart beat a little faster, and lump was in her throat. Before she could lie, Hiccup was in front of her with a dagger at her throat, causing her to inhale sharply. Looking into his eyes, Aud could see that Hiccup would have no problem killing her, however, she could also see the restraint in those dazzling eyes of his.

"Don't even think about lying to me, princess. That would be a... fatal mistake," Hiccup continued. "I offer you this chance to show me that the Fairhair lineage has honor and is dependable. Your brother has proven himself otherwise. You and your mother, however, have yet to earn my trust fully." Leaving behind a small cut, Hiccup flicked the princess's blood off of his dagger before sheathing it in his forearm gauntlet.

Wiping the blood trickling down her neck, Aud spoke softly. "You have already robbed my family of justice by allowing Gudleif and Dotta to live. And now you force me into this position of forcing me, my mother, and my people to live alongside the animals who killed my brother Folkwin in his sleep?!"

"Mind your tone, this is not a request, Aud, it's my decision. And as King of Vikings, my decision is final," Hiccup could see Aud's jaw tense and her face twist with resentment, so he decided to alleviate her resentment. "Yes, you will rule alongside Gudleif and his sister, and of course, they'll only tolerate the Fairhair dynasty's presence in Paris for so long before they try anything clever. If there are whispers of betrayal and threat...

"...then they will have given me a reason to end them both and their supporters," Aud realized. Chuckling dryly, she nodded in understanding. "Clever."

"I told you that you would have Gudleif's life, don't you dare question me again," circling her like a wolf, Hiccup continued. "I'll leave behind some trusted men to ensure you and your mother remain loyal, they will inform me of all your dealings via Terror Mail. And if I receive word that you have broken your loyalty to me, then the Fairhair dynasty will no longer be of any use to me and your family name will be forever lost to history."

"I understand, King Hiccup,"

"Do you? Your brother has been a thorn in my side ever since we had to abandon our homelands, and since then, he's made it his life's mission to undermine me and question my authority. For the sake of you and your mother, I pray you don't take this lightly. Defy me or threaten our people in any way, I'll have Paris burned to ashes along with you, your mother, and your dynasty,"

Aud knew what was at stake, and she dared not to put her mother and her dynasty in harms way by defying the wishes of King Hiccup. "There will be no issues here, King Hiccup," bowing her head, she brandished her arm ring. "I swear to you, on my sacred arm ring."

"We'll see,"

Hiccup then left the hall, leaving Aud behind. Alone once again, the Fairhair princess released a heavy sigh and looked into the fireplace, watching the flames dance wildly. She needed to come to terms with the king's desires for her— sacrificing her brother's honor to becoming a queen of Paris. It was a very tough piece of fish for her to swallow, but things change, just as Hiccup had told her when she had Gudleif at her mercy, and she needed to accept that. Her duty as a princess was to ensure the well being of her people, and it would do her people no good if she got them all killed for conspiring further against Hiccup.

She would take this responsibility and raise the Fairhair dynasty in the eyes of Hiccup and earn his trust fully.

A/N: Not as action packed as I had originally had in mind, but I want to move on and get the Vikings to Germany, from there, things are gonna heat up. Eventually, Merida and Jasmine will be arriving, and Hiccup is gonna deal with Rapunzel's mother, Queen Arianna, and deal with her so that his people could settle in her kingdom. You'll see soon enough. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter, regardless, and as always, leave feedback and suggestions, and I'll see you in the next update.
