Henry XVII
Summary: Henry visits Amelia and the trio celebrate halloween 🎃
Evie's Notes: Hey... I know it's been a long time and I'm sorry. Life has been crazy and I lost inspiration for a while. Enjoy the update!
Henry laughed as Mia told him all about the goofy hijinks she and the band had been getting up to in Hiddenville. He was so happy that his friend was settling into the new city well. He couldn't help but feel kind of bad about sending her off on her own, but he was glad it seemed to be working out so far. It also helped that he was now driving to Hidenville once a week with Piper for her therapy sessions so he would be able to check up on Mia then.
The structural renovations on the new Team Danger house were finally complete after 3 and a half months of hard work. Using Charlotte's budgeting and tech skills, the group had been able to expedite the work done by the contractors with the promise of extra money.
Mia had reached out to the Hero League in disguise and asked for a representative to handle the building of the Danger Zone under the house as well as tubes into the city. The group had been slightly worried that the Hero League would ask questions about a new superhero appearing in a town already overseen by the Thundermans, but in the end they didn't need to worry. The complicated bureaucracy of the Hero League meant that her request went largely unnoticed and unremarked upon. Her new connections to the league simply assumed she was an approved supe, or else how would she know about the league's existence? Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Amelia had gratefully accepted their obliviousness and ordered the parts needed for the Danger Zone.
The Danger Zone was still very bare at the moment. The large main room was lined in roughly hewn limestone pieces to protect against radiation and enemy cyber attacks. The goal was to eventually have a full command center in there with a variety of screens, tables, work out equipment and the Tube entrance. At the moment though, it simply held a Costco folding table, a chair and Mia's superhero computer. Other rooms branching off from the center included a space for Jasper's spell casting supplies, a large safe, a room dedicated to storing and repairing uniforms, a weapons cleaning room, an infirmary, as well as a full bathroom for cleaning up after a battle. The team had put together a list of items they wanted in their Crime Fighting Zone and planned to have them delivered over the next couple months.
"Do you have any plans for Halloween next week?" asked Henry, dipping his paint roller in the tray before skillfully painting the wall of their future kitchen. Mia had taped everything off before he had arrived, so the pair had set straight to work painting while Piper was in her appointment.
"I'll probably just hang out with Max and the guys" shrugged Mia, as she carefully painted the trim on one of the windows. "Oh?" asked Henry a smirk crawling across his face. The three Swellview teens had noticed recently that whenever Mia spoke of her friends it was always 'Max and the band, or Max and the guys or Max and the girls'. The three were certain their friend was developing a crush on the superpowered teen.
"Yeah, I figure the band will probably want to go out to splatburger or hang at Giddy's. It'll be fun, but I'll be missing you guys".
"I know, we'll be missing you too" admitted Henry. "It sucks having you be so far away".
"At least it won't be for much longer" shrugged Mia halfheartedly, her purple and blonde hair slowly falling out of the claw clip she had pinned it up in before starting to paint.
"That's the spirit! The summer will be here before you know it and then you'll be back to being stuck with us full time"
"Oh the horror" teased Mia, pretending to faint in fear only to get white paint all over her pink overalls.
The pair then spent the rest of the time chatting and trading stories until it was time for Henry to go pick up Piper.
"Don't be afraid to give us a call if you need us" reminded Henry, pulling his friend in for a hug. "And try to have some fun, this is your life now. Make the most of it"
*A New Hero - A New Hero - A New Hero*
The arrival of Halloween had Henry on edge for a variety of reasons. One was the fact that everyone running around in masks led to an increase in crime. Secondly, the Swellview Police always took the night off for their annual bowling tournament, once again encouraging criminals to roam the street. The final and most personal reason though was what had happened to Piper last time around. Sure he now knew that the horrifying monster wasn't actually hurting anyone, but had kidnapped a ton of children and brought them to another dimension.
Henry also knew that by going through the portal was step one to building up a store of A.M.O.R.E. in his system, later allowing Rick Twittler to steal his powers. He could not let Twittler get away with causing a blackout in Swellview again while trying to destroy the internet. Charlotte assured him that as long as he didn't end up eating the 10 layer cake and get sprayed with Flabber Gas then Twittler shouldn't be able to steal his powers this time around.
Clipping his sword belt around his waist, Henry admired his fun but simple costume. The trio had decided to go as Percy Jackson characters for Halloween. Knowing that he would eventually have to go out as Kid Danger that night, Henry planned to have fun for as long as he could.
Charlotte exited the bathroom wearing a matching orange tee-shirt with a pegasus and the words "Camp Halfblood" printed on it. She had gone to the salon and changed her style to blonde box braids for the evening. Around her neck she wore a necklace similar to Henry's except it had more beads since Anabeth had been at the camp for longer than Percy.
"Looking good Mr. Jackson" grinned Charlotte, taking in Henry's costume.
"Right back at you Miss Chase"
"Ok, who took my two best friends and replaced them with supermodels" flirted Jasper, leaning against the doorframe taking in the pair.
"You're one to talk Jasper, you are rocking that scruff" complimented Henry. Jasper had grown out his facial hair in order to add to his Grover Underwood costume. Pair with the horns he had added to his hair, he made a convincing satyr.
Charlotte wrinkled her nose in disagreement, she was never a fan of when the boys grew out their facial hair. Which is why one or the other always did it once a year to mess with her.
"Let's go grab Piper and head over to the party" declared Henry.
The trio had planned ahead knowing that Henry's parents would once again be leaving Piper unattended, this time in order to spend the night in a haunted house in an attempt to win money. Henry didn't remember them being successful in this attempt, so he figured they didn't win the fortune of his dead uncle Jimmy.
The trio planned to take Piper over to the party being held at her school, before she went to sleep over at Jana Tetrazzini's house with some of the girls in her grade. Piper had decided to go as Rapunzel and had made her dress with the help of Charlotte.
Piling into the minivan, Jasper drove them over to the school. The group had a ton of fun dancing, laughing, playing games and rocking out with their classmates. A couple hours later Henry got the expected call from Ray telling him to come in and help with the monster snatching kids. Making sure that Piper was safe with Janna and the others, the trio went to work.
*A New Hero - A New Hero - A New Hero*
Once the group reached the mancave Charlotte set to work "discovering" the location of Evil Science Corp and the missing kids. Henry and Ray suited up and headed out to give Bill Evil a piece of their mind. The rescue went about the same as last time, excluding Piper being there. This time though, Henry made sure to take the interdimensional transporter with them when they dropped Bill Evil off at prison. Sure they knew he would be out on bail by the morning, but at least he would be off the streets for a few hours.
Getting into bed that night, well really morning given that it was 3 am, Henry smiled knowing that he had averted future crimes by removing the interdimensional transporter from the wrong hands.
