Hiddenville XXV
Summary: Amelia finds out a big secret her friends have been keeping and meets a new enemy.
Evie's Notes: Happy Saturday! I hope you all are having a wonderful week ! As always, thank you so much your support of this story, it really and truly means the world to me ! I hope that you all enjoy the this new update .
Amelia was eating her burrito bowl and chatting with Gideon, Oyster, Kelsey and Cherry while they waited for the twins to show up to lunch. The sound of loud arguing drew the group's attention to where Max and Phoebe had stormed in yelling at each other.
Mia's eyes grew wide in shock as she watched the twins carelessly use their telekinesis at school as they fought over Max's 'Dark Chronicle'. The pair were lucky that where they stood was shrouded from the rest of the school and the student body was used to their yelling so it was only their friends who had turned to pay attention to them.
Turning back to look at her friends, Mia searched their faces for any sign that they had spotted the twins' telekinesis and discovered that their friend's had superpowers. Surprisingly she didn't notice anything, which was shocking given how obvious the twins had just been. Maybe though it was only obvious to her because he knew about their powers and had been on the lookout for them ever since she arrived. Since it appeared that none of the non-supes had noticed anything, Mia decided to leave the reckless telekinesis use alone for the time being.
The twins stomped their way over the table sitting down in the open seats on either side of Mia. Offering some grapes to Max and a few of her baby carrots to Phoebe, Mia asked "So does anyone have plans for Thanksgiving break next week?"
"I have a bunch of family coming to town and Grandfather is cooking" said Gideon as he munched on an apple.
"Da die Pause so kurz ist, bleibe ich hier. Ich werde Thanksgiving zum ersten Mal mit Gideons Familie feiern," explained Wolfgang. (1)
"My family is traveling. We're going to my aunt's house" replied Oyster stealing some of Cherry's cheetos while the blonde girl wasn't looking.
"We're traveling too. I will be visiting my grandparents" said Kelsey.
"Samesies!" cheered Cherry, "My grandma makes the BEST cherry pie. I can't wait".
"I'm mostly just looking forward to having a week off of school" shrugged Max.
"It's just us for the holidays so we'll be staying here" added Phoebe.
"That should be nice," remarked Mia. "I'm excited to be celebrating the first holiday in our new house with the others".
"Oh? Are Charlotte, Henry and Jasper driving in?" asked Max, having heard a lot about Mia's friends over the last few months.
"Yup! They're bringing Piper too, she's so excited to see all of the furniture we built". Max had come over the previous weekend and helped Mia build furniture for a couple of the rooms.
"Won't their families miss them?" asked Kelsey.
Mia's face fell, she knew that the girl hadn't meant any harm with her question but she couldn't keep the snap out of her voice as she scoffed "Hell no". Seeing Kelsey's shocked look, Mia made sure to soften her face and laid an apologetic hand on Kelsey's. "Sorry, it's just that my friends don't really come from the best home situations so it would honestly be a miracle if anyone noticed they were gone".
Her own home situation went loudly unremarked upon. Mia wasn't stupid, she knew that the others had questions about why she was living on her own in that big house on the edge of town and what had brought her to their little town; unfortunately for them they would never know the truth even if she told them they wouldn't believe her it was just too crazy.
Max cleared his throat awkwardly but put a comforting arm around her shoulders playing with the blond and purple ends of her hair lightly, "I am glad you'll get to spend the holiday with your friends, M"
"Thank's Max! If you get time over the break you should come over and meet them since you'll be in town!". Mia ignored Gideon and Wolfgang's grumbling that they would be in town too.
Max grinned and responded "Totally, I'd love to finally meet them. Let me know what day works best and I'll be there"
Oyster coughed something that sounded suspiciously like "whipped" into his fist causing Kelsey and Cherry to laugh.
Rolling her eyes Phoebe redirected the conversation asking about the band's gig on Saturday and what they were going to play this week. Amelia allowed herself to lean back against Max, no she wasn't snuggling, as she enjoyed the rest of the group's lunch break before the bell rang and they all had to rush off to their next class.
*A New Hero - A New Hero - A New Hero*
Closing her locker at the end of the school day Amelia got a strange text from Cherry asking her to meet her in the history classroom. Expecting it to be a 'girl' emergency, in more ways than one, Mia said goodbye to Max promising to meet him at the house in a bit for band practice.
Walking into the History classroom Mia was running through all the ways she could comfort Cherry over obviously having a crush on her best friend only to stop in shock when she noticed it wasn't just Cherry in the room.
"Uhhh Cher, what's everyone doing here?" asked Amelia.
"M, take a seat" said Oyster gesturing to one of the desks that the group had moved to form a circle.
"Okay…" said Mia cautiously, she checked for traps and pranks as she made her way to the chair. Sure it wasn't Max, but these were Max's friends… they could totally be pranking her. "What's this? New person initiation? If so, y'all are several weeks late"
"Amelia this is serious" chided Kelsey. Mia mimed zipping her lips and turned her attention back to Cherry who had called her here in the first place, lifting an eyebrow in question.
"Ok Mia, we know that this is going to be hard to hear, but please know that we are being entirely truthful!" said Cherry earnestly.
"Cross our hearts and hope to die," agreed Oyster.
"Scouts honor" added Gideon
"You were never a scout" teased Kelsey, bumping her shoulder against the boy's.
"Alright… So what weird thing are you going to tell me?" asked Mia, crossing her arms and leaning back against her seat.
"This is hard to say but… Mia have you ever noticed anything strange about the Thundermans?" asked Cherry.
"I mean take your pick… the shitty parenting, Max and Pheebs' relationship, and so much more"
"Blondie meant all of the weird situations that they often find themselves in" cut in Gideon.
"Oh?" asked Amelia calmly, though inwardly she was freaking out. She had thought that their friends had been oblivious to the twins' powers but it appeared that that wasn't the case.
"Yeah, you must have noticed some strange things happening whenever you are around the family. Billy is always moving too quickly. Nora's glare actually burns holes into things. Sparks literally fly when their mom gets angry at her kids. The roof of the house is littered with holes. The parents clearly don't have a job but are somehow supporting a family of five in the suburbs. All of that of course isn't even touching the twins, like what happened today at lunch" explained Oyster.
Mia winced when they put it like that it was a miracle that the Thundermans superhero identity had not been revealed beforehand. "I guess I have seen those things" she admitted, knowing that she couldn't really argue with any of their claims. "What are you guys saying though?"
"Come on M, you're from Swellview. You should know the signs, they're obviously superheroes".
"No way!" gasped Mia, making her eyes go wide in shock.
"Yes way. All of us gathered in this room are dedicated to making sure that the Thundermans do not expose themselves to the rest of the world, because if we can figure it out you better bet that others can to" explained Cherry.
Awww, Mia's heart warmed at the girl's explanation and the serious nods the others gave. It was sweet of them to care about their friends… there was one thing that she was curious about though: "You guys have known that they're supes and you told WOLFGANG before me?!"
"Wolfgang" snapped the boy defensively.
"Chill Wolfie, I just meant that I moved to town two months before you".
"Well, Wolfgang lives with me, so I kinda had to clue him in," admitted Gideon.
"We wanted to tell you, but didn't know if you would believe us until you saw the twins' powers with your own eyes," explained Kelsey.
"So does this mean that you believe us?" asked Cherry hopefully.
"Yeah, I guess I do. It's kinda hard not to with all of the evidence. Plus there is their last name, literally Thunderman" shrugged Mia.
"Good, you don't know how happy we are to be able to tell you. Now you can help keep our bro's secret too" grinned Oyster.
Another question suddenly occurred to Mia, "Does any of the family know that you guys know?"
"I 'caught' Phoebe a couple weeks ago, but I'm the only one of the group who they think knows. The Hero League got super pissed-"
"Good one Cher" laughed Wolfgang
"-when the Thundermans reported that I knew their secret".
"Yeah, I could see it being a bit of a big deal," agreed Amelia. "Count me in for any plans to help protect the twins. In the meantime though, the boys and I need to head over to the Thunderman's for practice".
The others quickly agreed, resetting the classroom before gathering their bags and heading their separate ways.

Mia spent quite a few minutes freaking out in her car before pulling herself together enough to drive over to Max's house, so she was last to arrive. As Nora let her into the house she could faintly hear the band rocking out in the basement.
Smiling at Nora, and passing her a new bow she had picked up in thanks, Mia opened the 'secret' entrance to Max's bedroom/lair and slid down the slide landing on Max's bed.
"Finally! We were beginning to think you got lost" teased Max, leaving his guitar to come over and give her a hug.
"Never, I just got some news that I wasn't expecting and needed a few minutes to process" said Mia.
"Nothing bad I hope?" asked Max worriedly, his brown eyes darkening as he looked into hers.
Looking over Max's shoulders she spotted the band looking worriedly at her. Shaking her head slightly she assured them that she was fine, just a little shaken up.
"It was just a shock, but nothing I can't handle," Mia assured them. "I want to hear the new song you were talking about earlier. Will you play it for me?"
"You promise?" checked Max
"I promise," grinned Mia, liking her pinky with the boy.
Picking up his guitar, Max made his way back over to the band as Mia made herself comfortable on the bed.
"Ok, this is called Centuries" said Oyster as Wolfgang counted them in.
"Some legends are told, Some turn to dust or to gold. But you will remember me, Remember me for centuries. And just one mistake, Is all it will take. We'll go down in history, Remember me for centuries" sang Max.
"Hey yeah, oh hey, hey yeah" sang the band "Remember me for centuries"
"Mummified my teenage dreams. No, it's nothing wrong with me. The kids are all wrong, The stories are off, Heavy metal broke my heart" sang Max. "Come on, come on and let me in, The bruises on your thighs, like my fingerprints. And this is for tonight I thought that you would feel. I never meant for you to fix yourself".
"Some legends are told, Some turn to dust or to gold, But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries" sang the band. "And just one mistake, Is all it will take. We'll go down in history, Remember me for yeah, oh hey, hey yeah! Remember me for centuries".
"And I can't stop 'til the whole world knows my name. 'Cause I was only born inside my dreams. Until you die for me, as long as there is a light, My shadow's over you 'cause I am the opposite of amnesia" sang Max, winking at Mia as he sang the next line. "And you're a cherry blossom, You're about to bloom. You look so pretty, but you're gone so soon!"
The band came in with the chorus: "Some legends are told Some turn to dust or to gold. But you will remember me, Remember me for centuries. And just one mistake, Is all it will take. We'll go down in history. Remember me for centuries! Hey yeah, oh hey, hey yeah! Remember me for centuries"
The band cut out as Max sang the bridge, with only Wolfgang playing in the background. "We've been here forever, And here's the frozen proof. I could scream forever, We are the poisoned youth!"
"Some legends are told, Some turn to dust or to gold. But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries. And just one mistake, Is all it will take. We'll go down in history, Remember me for centuries. Hey yeah, oh hey, hey yeah!" sang the band as a whole. "We'll go down in history, hey yeah! Remember me for centuries!"
"WOOHOO!" cheered Mia clapping and whistling from her spot on the bed. "Y'all that was so good! It has to be one of my favorite songs you've written"
"Thanks M" grinned Oyster, "We really do sound rockin on this track"
"Dude all the chicks are going to be after us when we play this one" celebrated Gideon.
Rolling her eyes playfully at the boy, Mia encouraged the band to play her another song.
*A New Hero - A New Hero - A New Hero*
Amelia was feeling antsy Friday evening, it was officially the start of Thanksgiving Break but Henry and the others wouldn't arrive until Sunday. In the meantime the house felt too big and empty to be in on her own. She quickly suited up in her Madame Danger uniform, donned a sparkly pink wig, black mask, and headed out into the streets of Hiddenville in search of people to help.
*A New Hero - A New Hero - A New Hero*
Mia had been patrolling the streets of Hiddenville for about an hour and a half, up until this point she had helped an elderly couple, returned a runaway dog and saved two cats from trees. She had made sure to post pictures of her with the cute animals on Twitflash and Chirper with #superhero life #cute animals #team danger #hiddenville #madam danger. Luckily her band and the Thundermans were still oblivious to her alter ego since the Hiddenville population didn't use Twitflash preferring Chirper instead so the local residents didn't see the post on Twitflash connecting her to the Frankini fight a few months ago.
She was just planning to head home when she spotted a suspicious looking figure at the Hiddenville Historical Society. Creeping closer, Amelia realized that it was a blond boy wearing a half mask, all black jeans and sweatshirt. Smirking, she whispered "Game on Max Thunderman".
Sneaking up behind the boy who had just crawled out of an open window, she tapped him on the shoulder and asked "What do you think you are doing?"
Max jumped and spun around, "What am I…? What are you doing here!? Who are you lady"
"I'm Madam Danger and I asked first" sassed Mia, placing her hands on her hips
"Well I'm Dark Knight and if you will excuse me, I was in the middle of a heist here so you can just be on your way" said Max, holding up a ruby necklace he had clearly stolen from an exhibit inside the museum.
"Yeah, I can't let you do that," said Mia.
"And how are you going to stop me?" scoffed Max, rolling his eyes.
"Hmmm," giggled Mia, tapping her chin playfully before shouting "like this!" and punching Max square in the chest.
"What the fuck!" yelled Max, as he reeled back from the force of Mia's punch, dropping the ruby necklace in surprise. "You are crazy!"
"Give up on your heist and I'll stop" ordered Mia, throwing another punch which Max managed to dodge.
"Ugh, as if! I'm not going to stop my evil plan because some pretty girl is trying to fight me"
"Awww, you think I'm pretty?" teased Mia as her high kick made contact with the boy's side. "And I'm not trying to fight you… I am fighting you"
Max grunted as he pushed himself back up on his feet from where Mia had knocked him down. "Ok Barbie, try this on for size" he snapped as he blew a ray of ice in her direction.
"Alright…" gasped Mia as she dodged the ice, "I'm guessing you're not an average human"
"What gave it away?" smirked Max as he shot a wave of telekinesis Mia's way, knocking her to the ground.
Getting back on her feet, Mia launched herself at Max landing on top of him pinning him to the ground. "Oh I don't know, it could be the freeze breath or the telekinesis"
Max rolled them over so that he was now on top of her, trapping Mia's hands above her head. "Yup, sorry Barbie, but no one is going to stop me from pulling off this heist" Max used his freeze breath to bind Mia's hands together. "Good luck getting out of that"
"Oh no… what am I going to do?" drawled Mia sarcastically.
"Give up?"
"Not really my style" laughed the girl before she headbutted Max and wrapped her legs around his waist, rolling them over again.
Max lay groaning on the ground holding his head as Mia climbed to her feet. Amelia hit her iced hands against the building's wall cracking her bonds and freeing her. Snatching the ruby necklace from the ground where Max had originally dropped it, Mia slipped it into the zipper pocket on her skirt.
The sound of sirens filled the air. "That would be the cops, I suggest you cut your losses and make a break for it, unless you want to spend the night in a cell 'Dark Knight'".
Max rose to his feet and invaded Mia's personal space backing her up against the Historical Society's wall, his eyes dark as he towered over her; "Fine, you win this one Barbie, but you better watch your back" he warned before disappearing into the night.
Tossing the ruby necklace that had belonged to the wife of the first mayor of Hiddenville back into the building, Mia slammed the window closed and made a swift exit from the area before the cops found her.
Finally making it home Mia made a few notes about her saves and texted her team to let them know that she had officially encountered Max as Madam Danger. Knowing that she likely wouldn't hear from the trio until tomorrow since they were still working, Amelia changed into her pink and white striped nightgown, did her skincare and settled in to try and get a few hours of sleep.
(1) Since the break is so short I am staying here. I'll celebrate Thanksgiving for the first time with Gideon's family.
