Hiddenville XXVIII
Summary: An accidental identity reveal, Fred gets to fight crime, and Max says *The Line*
Evie's Notes: Happy Saturday! I hope you all are having a wonderful week ! As always, thank you so much your support of this story, it really and truly means the world to me ! I hope that you all enjoy the this new update .
This chapter absolutely ran away from me. Enjoy the chaos, I promise next week we will go back to Swellview and check on the crew there.
"So then I looked like a total idiot when Link showed up at the ice cream shop too" whined Cherry, burying her head in Mia's shoulder as she complained about her crush on Phoebe.
"Oh Cher" sighed Mia, patting the girl's arm comfortingly.
"It sucks cause I like her so much. Obviously I want her to be happy and Link makes her happy. But she's just so smart and pretty and sweet and ugh!"
"Trust me, I get how much it sucks having an unrequited crush on your best friend, " commiserated Amelia.
"Hah, the only reason you and Max aren't together is because you're both too scared to make a move. It's obvious to anyone with eyes how devoted you two are to each other" scoffed her friend.
Amelia blushed but internally she was doubtful. She really would have expected Max to have made a move by now if he was interested… worse she was starting to think maybe he liked her alter ego better.
Before her brain could continue to spiral, the rest of her friends, minus the Thundermans, entered the empty history classroom.
"Alright let this meeting of the Thunder Twin Council come to order," called Gideon, banging the little gavel he had ordered off Pearazon on his desk.
"Ok guys, we have a lot to talk about today. I assume you all have noticed how crazy the twins have been acting recently?" asked Kelsey.
"Oh yeah. They've been snapping at each other constantly for the last two weeks only to stop over the weekend" commented Oyster.
"They've also been going out as their super alter egos" added Mia.
"Wolfgang?" asked Wolfagang
"Yes, they're also spending time with that new Supe Madam Danger" echoed Kelsey with a raised eyebrow. "She's been posting selfie's to chirper about fighting crime"
"So if Phoebe is Thunder Girl, what's Max's name?" wondered Gideon, the group turned to look at Cherry as she was the only one who officially knew the Thunderman secret.
"Pheebs says that he's going by Dark Knight," said Cherry. "He's also apparently been flirting up a storm with this Madam Danger girl. Pheebs says he's in love".
"Oh really" smirked several members of the group.
"Oh yeah, she says that they are always flirting like crazy at crime scenes. Pheebs says she's never seen him like this before".
"Oh REALLY!" exclaimed the group.
Mia sunk a bit in her seat at the confirmation that Max seemed to prefer her alter ego who he had only known for a couple weeks over her civilian self.
"Seems like this new girl has caught our Max's eye" teased Oyster.
"Wolfgang," chuckled the German boy, elbowing Mia playfully.
Amelia just sank lower in her seat, upset that her friends were being so callous about her crush's crush in front of her.
"I guess there's really only one thing left to ask," grinned Kelsey, turning to look at Mia. "Whatcha going to do about Madame Danger?"
Amelia's jaw dropped in shock, "Whattt… What do you? Uh? I'm not… who are you calling Madame Danger" she sputtered.
"Oh come on M.J." scoffed Oyster. "It's obviously you. You move into town and suddenly there's this new badass superhero running around saving people? One who's a part of a hero group based in Swellview. I might be dumb but I'm not stupid".
"Oyster, no! Don't say that about yourself" scolded Mia worriedly. "You are an incredible musician, have awesome street smarts and are so compassionate. So what if school is harder for you than others?".
"I know that Mia, trust me. But none of that changes the fact that you happen to moonlight as a superhero".
Around her, Amelia's friends all nodded in agreement.
"Was it really that obvious?" asked Mia, realizing that she wasn't going to get out of this, clearly the cat was out of the bag.
"Uh yeah, Mia, but likely only to us. For the most part the people of Hiddenville mind their own business so they wouldn't be looking into your identity. We only figured it out since we wanted to know who was spending time with the twins" explained Gideon.
"Plus, there's no one else who has managed to turn Max's head the way you do. It's no wonder he's fallen in love with both sides of you" shrugged Cherry.
Mia blushed brightly at her friend's words, "Really?"
"Really." confirmed the blonde girl. "Though the twins both have no clue that you are Madam Danger".
"Sie sind so schlau und doch so sehr, sehr dumm"1 commented Wolfgang.
"Well I guess I'm happy I don't have to hide this part of myself from you all anymore" sighed Mia.
"Are you going to tell the twins?" asked Kelsey.
"Not right now. I'll wait until Christmas break".
"Yeah, probably a good idea to have all of Team Danger there when you do so" smirked Oyster.
"Ugh! Hen and Char are going to absolutely kill me when I tell them you all know".
"Ehh, just remind them that this just means that there are now five more people watching your back in this town" comforted Cherry.
"Somehow I don't think that's really going to help" bemoaned Mia.
*A New Hero - A New Hero - A New Hero*
Charlotte and Henry did not end up killing Mia, though it was a close thing. Amelia counted her blessings that they were in a whole other town, and had Jasper to hold them back.
Chilling in the Danger Zone with Fred, Mia scrolled through Twitflash on her phone. The app had undergone new leadership ever since Team Danger had put Twitler out of commission. Pausing on a certain post, she frowned worriedly.
KLVY NEWS: Breaking News - Team Danger's latest win is one for the Swellview history books. The trio successfully took down both Arson Boy and Slappy Pete last night. The question remains though… Where has Captain Man been during recent saves?
Trent KLVY: That's right folks, he's… GONE!

TetraQueen: Who cares? Team Danger is wayyyy cooler than Captain Man.
KidDanger: Don't worry folks Captain Man has just been busy, so Team Danger has been handling things in the meantime.
Closing the app, Mia turned her attention to Fred, "Anything happening tonight Fred?"
"It's all looking fairly quiet… though I think something strange is happening down at the Hiddenville Docks, the security cameras have all been blacked out…" commented Fred, pointing to where he had hacked the dock security feed.
"That is weird. Probably somebody trying to smuggle in something illegal. I've got to get to the bottom of this" decided Mia, twisting the ring on her finger to transform into her super suit.
"But Amelia, you will be going in blind" worried Fred. "I won't be able to see anything through the security cameras. I can't watch your back".
"That's where this fun little piece of tech comes in" grinned Mia, pulling a heavy silver briefcase off one of the Danger Zone's many shelves. Placing it down on the work table, Mia opened the case to reveal a small drone about the size of her hand. "E.V.A. here will act as your eyes so you can watch my back while I'm in the field"
"That's so cool" gasped Fred, picking up the drone and turning it to look at it from different angles.
"The coolest part is that Char added lasers and Schwoz's facial recognition technology so you'll be able to tell me who I'm fighting and help me out if I get in a tough spot".
"What does E.V.A. stand for?"
"External Villain Analysis"
"Perfect," grinned Fred.
Heading over to the tube platform, the drone following her, Mia imputed her location on the screen before bracing for impact and shouting "Up the tube!"
*A New Hero - A New Hero - A New Hero*
Arriving at the Hiddenville Docks, Mia shivered a little in the cold Oregon December night air. Her super suit was fairly insulated but it got super cold in the winter this far north, especially on the water.
Sneaking down to the harbor Mia noticed that the lights were out on the different docks, except for one. Mia crept over to the dock in question and gasped quietly when she saw who was there.
Standing in the flickering dock light was Madame Web dressed in her silver spiderweb dress. Mia knew she had to be careful fighting the woman since she was known to have venomous fingernails. The renowned Supervilian was surrounded by her henchmen dressed in black shirts and cargo pants, on their hands were long silver clawed gloves.
Mia watched as Madame Web spoke to the captain of the ship, clearly whatever the spider themed villain wanted was onboard. Signaling for Fred to keep an eye on the group through EVA, Mia snuck her way onto the side of the boat. Locating the back door Amelia picked the lock and forced her way inside.
Turning on her flashlight Mia looked around the hold of the ship. The boat was packed wall to wall with large crates, cracking open the lid of the nearest lid Mia looked inside. What she found made her blood run cold. The crates contained huge canisters of Helvaium, a horribly toxic substance. Mia shuddered thinking of what Madame Web's operation could want with these crates.
The knowledge that she couldn't let these crates fall into the wrong hands spurred Mia into action. She grabbed several explosive charges from her tool belt and placed them on each side of the boat. Setting the timer for two minutes, Mia just barely made it off the boat and back to her hiding place on the dock behind some barrels as the bombs went off. A large fireball blew out of the boat up to the sky. The boat began to rapidly sink due to the damage.
Madame Web let out a scream of rage. "Who has done this? Find them" she ordered her henchmen.
Shit! This wasn't good. Grabbing her laser in one hand, Amelia braced herself for a fight.
Unfortunately it did not take long for her hiding place to be discovered. The barrels were pushed off the dock into the freezing water revealing Mia.
Waving awkwardly at the group Mia said "Hi"
"Madame Danger… how dare you interfere in my business"
"Sorry, interfering is what I do best" quipped Mia. "You are going to be spending the foreseeable future in Hiddeville Prison for your crimes".
"You will pay for the trouble you have caused me" declared the villain, signaling for some of her followers to attack as she ran away with her remaining guards.
Firing her laser, Mia did her best to stop the Henchmen from getting too close to her. Fred flew into action as E.V.A. raining laserfire down on the hired goons.
Two of the henchmen made it past her laser blasts causing her to have to switch gears and fight hand to hand. Luckily she had been getting in plenty of hand to hand practice these last few weeks fighting Max. For the next few minutes, Mia threw punches and exchanged kicks with her enemies. Grabbing Goon Number One by the shoulder she shoved him hard while sticking a foot behind him causing him to topple over into the dark waters. Goon Number Two was harder to dispose of, Mia got hit pretty hard in the head at one point by his elbow as they fought. The pair battled their way towards the edge of the pier. Kicking the goon between his legs, Mia brought her elbow down hard on the man's skull causing him to collapse in a heap on the dock. Kicking him into the water, Mia turned back to see that the other goons had been chased off by Fred.
Grinning in victory Mia pressed her communicator calling "Good work Fred! I'll meet you back at the Danger Zone".
An excruciating pain suddenly overtook her right side, Mia let out a pained scream. She turned around to see a goon she had missed standing behind her, his claws covered in her blood. The man who had stabbed her had a large star tattoo on the left side of his face barely visible in the shadowed light.
Mia collapsed to the ground unable to stand due to the extreme pain wracking her body.
Clearly satisfied with the damage he had done, the star faced goon strode past her, making sure to step on her injured side as he left, causing Mia to scream in anguish. Amelia's vision was spotty from the pain. She knew that she needed to get up and get to safety, her hands pressed to her side were warm and sticky from the blood ebbing from the ripped puncture marks in her hip.
The dock was now empty, the enemy having escaped leaving her there wounded. Luckily she had managed to sink their boat so they were running empty handed. She had saved her town but at what cost… god she needed her team, she clearly was no match for a real villain on her own.
In her ear Mia could faintly hear Fred rambling as he loudly tried to find first aid supplies in the Danger Zone. Amelia foolishly hadn't fully stocked the infirmary yet. He was begging her to hold on and hang in there and that he would be there as fast as he could. Amelia could feel herself starting to go into shock though. Her consciousness was fading in and out.
Loud footsteps shook the dock and marked the arrival of the Thunder twins rushing onto the scene. She was so surprised to see them that at first she thought them to be a figment of her mind caused by blood loss. That idea was promptly thrown out the window when Max dropped to her side, and ripped off his jacket to press it against her bleeding side applying steady pressure.
"Thundergirl, she needs medical help" Max yelled to his sister.
"Of course!" replied Phoebe, passing her twin a bag of first aid supplies she always kept attached to the back of her costume hidden by her cape. "Are we sure they're all gone?" she asked, scanning the harbor suspiciously.
"Yeah, they ran after I sank their boat" groaned Mia, as Max opened the first aid kit and tightly tied several layers of wrapping around her waist.
Placing a hand on her cheek, Max turned her eyes to meet his; "Who did this to you" growled the young man, his silent fury radiating through the night air.
"Madame Web and her Henchmen, the one who stabbed me, had a star tattoo on his face" admitted Mia.
"They will pay for this" muttered Max shifting Mia's torso onto his lap so she was in a more comfortable position.
"What were they trying to do?" wondered Phoebe, sitting down across from Max and Mia.
"I came across them trying to unload barrels of helvanium, a horribly toxic material. I would hate to know what they planned to do with it" shuddered Mia. "I crept onto the boat and placed several charges that I then detonated from the pier sinking the shipment. Madam Web and her cronies were none to happy with me costing them their shipment and they made that displeasure known. Oracle and I managed to take down most of the henchmen and send them running, but one of them snuck up on me".
"Oracle?" asked Max
"My tech support" replied Mia, jutting her chin towards the drone hovering nearby.
"I'm going to go call this into the Hero League. They'll send a team to clean up the Helvanium and make sure it stays out of the wrong hands" promised Phoebe, taking one of Mia's bloody gloves in her own hand. "Thank you for saving my city, Madam Danger".
"I think that's the first time you've called me by my name," commented Mia, squeezing the other girl's hand tightly.
"Don't get too used to it, Rainbow" joked Thundergirl. Rising to her feet she stepped a few feet away from the pair to make her phone call.
"I'm pretty sure you need stitches, Barbie" worried Max as he checked her wrappings and saw her blood beginning to soak through.
"Well it's not like I can exactly go to the hospital and say I was fighting criminals and got stabbed. That would really ruin the whole 'secret identity' thing" she snarked. "And Oracle would be terrible at stitches" she winced as Fred argued loudly in her earpiece that he could handle it just fine. "Knock it off Oracle. You've never done stitches before, as if I'm letting you touch my body. Plus your squeamish when it comes to blood. I'll just have to try and stitch myself up as best I can when I get back home".
Max ran his hand over her wig soothingly, "Chill, Barbie. I know you can't go to the hospital, but doing your own stitches is an equally bad idea. Lucky for you, I think I might have a better idea though"
"Oh?"
"Thunder Girl! We're bringing Barbie back to my lair" called Max, picking her up in a princess carry, careful not to jostle her wound.
"Are you sure that's a good idea…" worried Phoebe.
"She needs stitches and can't go to the hospital. And if we don't take her she says she's going to try and stitch herself up".
"Oh fuck no! That's how you get an infection and DIE, Rainbow. You're coming back with us" nodded Phoebe.
"You both operate out of Dark Knight's lair?" asked Mia, messing with them to take her mind off the pain in her side.
"Yes, don't question it" responded Max.
"Ok" Mia shrugged and rested her head on Max's chest. "I'm going to nap while you two kidnap me then."

Mia dozed lightly as Phoebe drove the pair back to the Thunderman house. The pair had insisted on blindfolding her so that she wouldn't see their van and house. It was only once she was safely floated through the window by the twins that they removed the blindfold.
Mia glanced around the familiar room and did her best to pretend that this was the first time she was seeing it. Max ordered her up on the desk that he cleared off while Phoebe argued briefly with Max's rabbit that could apparently talk, before running up the stairs shouting that she would be right back.
"Lie back here and try to get comfortable. Coloso will stitch you up. He's a doctor" assured Max.
"Who's Colosso?" asked Mia, as she lay down on the towels he had spread on the desk to protect from her blood.
"Who's Colosso?! Who's Colosso!? You mean that you haven't told her about me" ranted the talking rabbit.
"No way. You want a bunny to do my stitches?" protested Mia. "I would be better off doing them myself!".
"He's not going to be a bunny for long" announced Phoebe, returning to the lair with a strange looking machine and a medical kit.
"Wait what?" asked Mia and the rabbit at the same time.
"Colosso, if you help stitch her up, we will turn you back into a human to do so" offered Phoebe.
"Why should I?" demanded the rabbit. "She's one of those goody goody hero types"
"Because she's important to me," said Max seriously.
The rabbit took another moment to consider before reluctantly agreeing. "Fine, turn me human and I'll save the girl".
Turning to look at Phoebe, Mia asked, "Please tell me he was a real doctor and not just one of those evil crazy people who call themselves doctors with no training".
"Don't worry, he worked as a surgeon in a hospital and did all evil experiments in his free time" assured Phoebe. "Can I take your uniform? I want to set them to soak in hopes of getting the blood out?"
Mia nodded, stripping the top layers of her uniform, willing to give up whatever, except for her wig and mask.
"Alright, let's get to work" declared Dr. Colosso, newly human and scrubbed up to operate. He used the scissor's Phoebe had brought down to cut through the bandages to reveal the wound.
Max and Phoebe both hissed in sympathy when they saw the puncture marks.
"Alright the good news is that these are pretty small so I should be able to close them up no problem. The bad news is that we have no local anesthetic, so this is going to hurt".
"Do it" ordered Mia.
Max stood on the opposite side of the table from the doctor and held Mia's hand as Colosso stitched her up. Mia did her best to hold in her screams, as the needle tugged at her skin. She squeezed Max's hand so tightly she was sure she had broken it, but the young man bore it all without complaining, whispering soothing words to her as he stroked her wig with his other hand.
When Colosso was finally finished, Max passed Mia a pair of plaid pajama pants and a t-shirt she could change into while her clothes were in the wash. He respectfully turned around while Phoebe helped her change into them so as to not pull her new stitches.
Mia popped the super strength pain meds the twins had stolen from their parents as she listened to the doctor's lecture. "No heavy lifting, no strenuous activity and absolutely no crime fighting for the next couple days" ordered Colosso after Max had turned back around. "Don't do anything that could pull on them. I'll take another look in the morning, but for now I think they will hold".
"In the morning?" asked Mia, confused.
"Obviously, you're staying," replied Phoebe. "We want to make sure you're going to live through the night". Max nodded seriously beside her, his arms crossed.
"You both are so dramatic" sighed Mia, but she knew the stubborn looks on her friend's masked faces well enough to know this wasn't a battle she could win.
Picking up her communicator, she told Oracle that she was ok, that he should go home and that she would see him tomorrow night. Fred protested, but she told him that she was safe enough for the time being and she would see him tomorrow. Mia felt a bit bad about not being there in person to reassure Fred after her first injury with him on the team, but luckily she had had the foresight to read him in on the other heroes in town so he knew she was with the Thundermans and safe.
"You can have my bed. I'll take the floor" offered Max, having changed into a pair of plaid pajama pants while she was on the communicator.
"That's not necessary. I won't make you sleep on the floor. We can share it" protested Mia, making her way over to the bed.
"Uhhh…" replied Max blushing.
"Just get over here so I can get a good night's sleep and not feel guilty about you sleeping on the floor" snapped Mia.
She pulled back the covers and laid down on the bed, utterly exhausted from the day and her injury.
Max reluctantly turned off the lights and climbed into the bed beside her, "Good night, Barbie"
"Sleep well, Knight"
*A New Hero - A New Hero - A New Hero*
Mia woke up Wednesday morning with a sense of great peace and safety. If it wasn't for the stabbing pain in her side she would have thought she was in heaven.
Amelia's eyes went wide as she noticed the firm body pressed against her and the strong arms wrapped around her. Apparently at some point during the night the pair had shifted so that Max was now spooning her. She tried to wriggle free, but his hold was too tight. Deciding to just wait until he woke up, Mia rested her eyes and let herself enjoy being held by her best friend. When she closed her eyes she could almost pretend that this was real, that he wanted both halves of her and knew her secret. She was nervous to come clean to him and Phoebe about her secret identity, afraid that they wouldn't accept her.
But all good things must come to an end. Max woke up only a couple minutes after her. "Good morning," he whispered in her ear.
"Good morning," echoed Mia, sitting up against the wall as Max released her from his hold. She nervously checked her mask and wig and was relieved that they were still in place. She owed Char so much for developing such awesome wig glue.
Max yawned widely, running a hand through his messy bed hair, his dark eyes blinked lazily behind his mask. Mia gulped as she eyed her shirtless best friend. She had been too out of it last night to appreciate the view, but damn he was hot.
"Sorry for cuddle attacking you in your sleep" said Max sheepishly.
"It's fine" brushed off Mia. In fact it was more than fine, he could cuddle her whenever he wanted. But she couldn't say that, so instead she just smiled awkwardly.
"How are you feeling this morning, Barbie? The stitches hold up ok?" worried the man.
"They held, they're just really sore" winced Mia, as she moved at an angle which pulled at her wounds.
"Yeah, I guess those pain meds from last night must have worn off. Let me go get you some more" offered Max. The boy quickly scrambled out of bed, pulling on a shirt and bounded up the stairs promising that he'd bring back breakfast too.
Getting out of bed herself, Mia wandered around the familiar space taking in all the details of Max's super powered life that were normally hidden when she and the band were over.
Reaching up to the top of the lair's bookshelf, Mia tried to snag one of the cool looking devices she assumed Max built. Unfortunately in doing so she pulled on her stitches causing a burst of pain to run through her body, she gave a little shout of surprise.
"Knock that off will you, girl" snapped Dr Colosso from his cage.
"Right.. the talking bunny. Guess I didn't dream that part"
"No you didn't. Now come over here so I can check those stitches and make sure you didn't bust them open".
Mia crossed the room to the rabbit's cage and lifted Max's borrowed shirt to reveal her injury.
"Mhmhm mhmm. Well it looks like you managed to keep them together during the night"
"Cool. So can I go now?" asked Mia, as much as she enjoyed being at the Thunderman's house she preferred to do so as her civilian identity.
"Yes. And you listen to me you goody goody. My boy is evil, he is going to take over the world one day and be the greatest supervillain. No amount of you batting your pretty little eyes his way is going to change that" lectured Colosso.
"Hmm, we'll see" smirked Mia, dropping the blanket that usually covered the cage back in place.
Max came back down stairs carrying two plates of breakfast and floating a couple bottles of water and the pain pills. "So what's the Doc say?"
"He says I'm good as new," smiled Mia.
"Hah, hardly" scoffed the bunny behind the blanket. "You shouldn't do anything strenuous for a week or else you risk pulling your stitches".
Mia glared at the cage, "Snitch!"
Max fixed Mia with a serious look, "Good as new huh?". Shaking his head, Max motioned for her to join him on the bed to eat. "Here are those pain pills you took last night. The bottle is yours to have, but be careful how many you take, they're STRONG for those of us who are enhanced. And since you are not powered, be sure to take low doses".
"Won't your parents notice them missing?" worried Mia as she accepted the medicine.
"No, Mom healed from her broken leg a couple months ago so she shouldn't have a reason to go looking for them again".
"Ok, as long as you won't get in trouble" hedged Mia.
"Ehhh, I'm always in trouble with them" shrugged Max self-deprecatingly.
Mia popped two of the pills and then dove into the breakfast Max had brought down. She was starving and the pancakes were delicious!
"You two still down here?" called Phoebe's voice from the top of the stairs.
"Yup, come on down Thunder Girl" yelled back Max.
Amelia grinned when she spotted her friend coming down the stairs once again dressed in her Thunder Girl suit and carrying Mia's uniform.
"Hey Rainbow! How are you feeling this morning? I've got your uniform here for you to change into once you're done. I even managed to get all the blood out. I guess all that black and leather is good for something"
"Yeah, I love the black since it lets me blend in at night" commented Mia as she quickly finished up her food.
"Hah, as if!" scoffed Max.
"There's no way you blend in with that hair" agreed Phoebe.
Mia rolled her eyes and ducked around the clothes rack to change in relative privacy. Folding up her borrowed PJ's she placed them on Max's desk.
"I should probably get going. There's a lot to do today" Mia sighed, double checking that she had everything that she had come with.
"Are you sure?" worried Max.
"Yes. I'll be fine, Knight" said Mia rolling her eyes.
"Plus we've got somewhere to be too," added Phoebe, not knowing that the trio would all be headed to the same place… Hiddenville High.
"Alright, but please make sure to take the pain meds with you!" warned Max.
"I will" Mia promised.
Phoebe pulled out the blindfold they had used yesterday and tied it around Mia's head as Max quickly changed into his uniform.
"Is this really necessary?" questioned Mia.
"Yes, unless you want to tell us who you are?" replied Phoebe.
"Blindfold it is" sulked Amelia.
The twins floated her out the window the same way they had the night before.
The trio walked what felt to Mia about two blocks before the twins agreed that they were far enough away and removed the blindfold.
"Take care of yourself" ordered Phoebe
"I will. Guess I'll see you next time there is crime to fight" promised Mia.
The twins both fixed her with stern glares.
"We should not be seeing you fight crime for at least a week" snapped Max. "You heard Colosso, if you do anything too strenuous you risk pulling your stitches".
"But…"
"No. I can handle the crime in the city" promised Phoebe
"And I can be the crime in the city. The last thing we need is you killing yourself by going back into the field too early" reminded Max.
"Fine" huffed Mia rolling her eyes.
Amelia accepted Phoebe's careful hug and the kiss on her cheek from Max. Waving goodbye to the twins, Mia made her way home to quickly change and head to school.
*A New Hero - A New Hero - A New Hero*
Arriving back home, Mia quickly changed out of her Madame Danger uniform and into a comfortable pair of loose blue jeans, an oversized green and tan sweater, and a pair of brown boots.
Her phone, which she had forgotten to charge before heading out on her mission, finally loaded, showing a barrage of messages from her family and missed calls.
Family Meeting
Fastest Man Alive: M are you ok? Fred said you got stabbed!
Skynet: Amelia Savannah Jones you pick up this phone right now. We are going insane over here. Fred says that you went home with the Thundermans? Are you still alive?
Magic Man: I have to be at school during first period for an important presentation, but as soon as I'm done I'm driving to you. Plan on me picking you up from school!
Mia's heart warmed seeing the concerned messages from her family.
Agent: I'm still alive. Sorry, I forgot to charge my phone before going on my mission. Jasp, I'll see you at 3:00. The twins fixed me up for now, but I am definitely wanting some of your healing magic. Headed to school now. Love you all
Grabbing the lunch she had meal prepped over the weekend, Mia rushed out the door to meet her Uber.

Mia made it to school just in time for her last class before lunch. Sliding into her desk behind Gideon and beside Wolfgang she set out her textbook and began to take notes.
As Mr. Trenton droned on about the war of 1812 Amelia's phone buzzed. hiding her cell in her text book, Mia opened her messages to see a new text in her group chat minus the twins.
Secret Society
Kels: Guess who's trending on Chirper?!
Mia: Who?
Kels: You and Max! Look:
Kels: (Picture from that morning of Max kissing Mia goodbye while Phoebe stood to the side) #1MadameDangerFan:Look who I saw getting close this morning. Are our beloved Madam D and notorious AntiHero Dark Knight in a relationship?
Mia: What! HOW DID SOMEONE GET THIS? So much for Hiddenville minding its own business
Wolfboy: you are a celebrity, what did you expect
Giddy: Damn M, did he finally get the balls to ask one version of you out?
Cherryblossom: AMELIA JONES! DID YOU GET STABBED?!
PucaRock: I bet she did
Cherryblossom: Not that kinda stabbed Oyster!
Cherryblossom: But if you did girl you better give me the tea ️ ️
Mia: No, I didn't hook up with Max last night. I got stabbed fighting crime and had to spend the night at the lair.
Gideon and Wolfgang whirled around to stare at her. "You got stabbed?!" whispered Gideon horrified. Wolfgang scanned his eyes over her body worriedly as if he expected her to start bleeding out right there.
Secret Society
PucaRock: WHAT! YOU GOT STABBED!?
Kels: You spent the night in the lair? As Madam Danger?
Mia: Yes, I spent the night at the lair as Madam Danger. Apparently that Bunny Max has in his room is really a man that his parents turned into an animal. The rabbit used to be a doctor so Max and Phoebe turned him human again so he could stitch me up.
PucaRock: Brosephina that is insane.
Mia: Trust me, I KNOW!
Mia: I couldn't exactly go to the hospital and say I was fighting crime, since that would destroy my secret identity. So luckily the twins came up with a better plan.
Giddy: If you were stabbed last night what are you doing here at school.
Mia: Secret Identity. Can't skip or it would look suspicious.
Cherryblossom: Fuck no! You should be home resting
Mia: Don't worry guys. I am on these super good meds that the twins stole from their parents. So I'm a little high right now, but otherwise I'm ok. As long as I don't move too quickly or lift my arm, I don't feel the four different stab wounds and that I'm not supposed to do anything too strenuous for a week.
PucaRock: Says the girl carrying a super heavy messenger bag :(
Cherryblossom: :(
Giddy: :(
Kels: :(
Wolfboy: :(
Mia: Guys I'll be fine . My brother Jasper is picking me up this afternoon, and he specializes in healing magic.
Cherryblossom: I can't believe you didn't tell us you got stabbed
Mia: This literally just happened last night. I haven't even seen half of you yet today.
Kels: Girl you've got a phone, use it.
Mia: Fine. I promise that the next time I get stabbed I will tell you all, happy?
Kels: Just peachy.
Giddy: :)
Wolfboy: :)
PucaRock: as a clam
Cherryblossom: whatever I guess that's good enough.
PucaRock: M.J. you're not going to be carrying anything heavier than your cell phone for the next week. Gid/Wolfie make sure to snag her bag on your way outta class.
Mia: guys I don't want to tip off the twins. If they see me not using that side they might put two and two together.
Cherryblossom: Hah, that'd be the day.
Giddy: dude, Max and Phoebe aren't going to figure it out. Hell Max doesn't even realize that his two crushes are on the same exact person.
Mia: whatever
Cherryblossom: Just let us help you M. We want you to be ok.
Mia: Fine. But if Max and Phoebe find out my secret identity I'm throwing you all to the lions (Char and Hen).
Giddy: I'm not scared of Henry… but Charlotte I am afraid of.
Turning off her cell, Mia did her best to turn her attention back to the boring lecture happening in the front of the room.

After class ended Wolfgang snagged Mia's bag and walked with her back to their lockers to switch out their items and get lunch. The pair chatted in German about their upcoming winter break plans. Apparently Wolfgang's family had decided to fly out and celebrate the holidays with their son in the states. The Hoffman family would all be staying with the Giddys while they were in town. The German boy was so excited to see his parents and little sister Tanya again.
At their lockers the pair ran into Max.
"Hey M!" greeted the lead singer, pulling Mia into a tight hug.
Amelia winced in pain as the boy unknowingly pressed on her stitches. Stepping back quickly she tried to hide the pained look on her face but failed.
"What's wrong Amelia?" asked Max worriedly. Uh oh… he rarely called her Amelia.
"I tripped over Duchess and fell down the stairs at the house. I have these horrible bruises on my side now that hurt whenever anyone touches them" lied Amelia.
"She is such a little trouble maker, always underfoot" chuckled Max, apparently buying her excuse.
"I know!" laughed Mia.
"Are you sure you're ok though? Did you hit your head?" worried her best friend.
Mia took one of his hands in hers and gave it a little squeeze as she assured him; "I'm fine Max. Just some ugly bruising and a bit of a bump on the head. Nothing time won't fix".
"I am so sorry for hurting you," apologized the boy.
"No apology needed. You didn't know. Plus Cherry pulled the same thing earlier and her hugs are wayyy stronger" lied Mia.
"Hey! I think me and the guns should be offended by that" sassed Max, flexing his bicep.
"Haha. Put the gun show away" laughed Mia. "I just meant how enthusiastic Cherry can be with her hugs".
"Yeah, I guess that's true. She does have me beat there" admitted Max with a grin.
"Are you coming to lunch today? Or are you stuck in detention with Bradford for that hot sauce coffee prank?"
"Nah, that's not till after school"
"Great, then let's go meet the others" grinned Mia, leading the group towards the lunch room.
Wolfgang fell into step behind Max and Mia and teased"Oh, seid ihr zwei nicht süß?" 2
Mia was confused until she realized that she had yet to let go of Max's hand. Sticking her tongue out at the drummer she replied"Oh, verpiss dich!" 3
"Ok, I recognized that phrase," laughed Max. "What did he say?"
"Nothing, he's just being silly" replied Mia.
"Ihr zwei seid so frustrierend," 4 muttered Wolfgang.
The trio were the last to arrive of their friend group so they quickly took their seats, Wolfgang on the end next to Oyster and Mia and Max in the middle of the table between Phoebe and Gideon. The eight friends ate their lunches and exchanged stories about their morning. The topic of Christmas came up which sparked great excitement.
"OOHHH! I know what we should do" squealed Cherry.
"What?" asked Oyster, covering his ear in slight pain from where the girl had yelled next to him.
"We should do a secret santa gift exchange" grinned the girl.
"That sounds awesome," agreed Gideon.
"I'm in" nodded Kelsey
"This will be fun," grinned Phoebe. "Good idea bestie"
"Wolfgang!" agreed the German boy.
"I'm in, what about you Max? Oyster" asked Mia.
"Count me in Brosphina"
"I'm in. How are we going to decide who has who?" asked Max.
Cherry tore a sheet of paper out of her notebook and scrawled everyone's names down before ripping it up into little pieces which she then put in Wolfgang's hat. The group took turns choosing names out of the hat.
Mia opened her slip of paper and was excited to see Oyster's name inside. Her mind was already spinning with ideas of what to do for her friend.
"Ok, I know some of us, like me, are leaving town for the holidays… so how about we have our party and gift exchange next Wednesday since it's the last day of classes" suggested Kelsey.
"Sounds awesome. I can host" offered Mia.
"You sure it won't be too much?" asked Gideon with a glare.
"Nope. I'll be right as rain by then" replied Mia.
"Is something wrong?" asked Phoebe, concerned for her friend.
"I just fell down the stairs this morning and hurt my side real bad. Luckily my brother is coming to town and he is into all that hippy healing stuff. It's crazy but it works".
"Well I hope you feel better soon" said Phoebe, squeezing Mia's arm comfortingly.
"Thanks Pheebs," grinned Amelia.
The group finished up their lunches and before they knew it the bell rang making them all scramble to their next classes. Oyster slipped Mia's bag over his shoulder and looped her arm through his as the pair made their way to their English Lit class.

Amelia was filled with excitement all through her last two periods of the day. When the bell finally rang marking the end of classes she sprinted to her locker with Kelsey, so excited to see Jasper.
Wolfgang and Mia quickly packed her bag with everything she needed for homework that night. The boy had appointed himself her go to helper.
"Are you coming over today?" asked Max as the friends all walked out to the parking lot. "I've gotta head to detention in a few, but we can meet up for practice after?"
"I wish I could but I can't today. Jasper is in town for the afternoon since he's got stuff to do in Neighborville. So I should probably hang out with him while he's here. Plus I'm feeling kinda sore and need to do something lowkey" she admitted.
"Yeah, I get it. No hard feelings. See you tomorrow!" grinned Max pulling her into a side hug on her non-wounded side.
"Yo, M! Stop hugging your boyfriend and get your butt over here" shouted Jasper from where Mia spotted him sitting on the front of the familiar van.
"I'm coming Jasp, hold your horses" yelled back Mia.
Mia turned back to her friends to see them looking stunned.
"THAT'S YOUR BROTHER?" asked Kelsey
"Yeah?"
"He's so fucking hot!" commented Phoebe.
"Thanks Pheebs, that's not weird at all for me"
"Oh please you're practically dating my twin" brushed off the girl making Max and Mia both blush and avoid eye contact with the other.
"Phoebe's not lying Jasper is really attractive" agreed Cherry, eying the boy appreciatively.
"All right, I'm going to go so that you can all stop ogling my VERY TAKEN brother" sighed Mia, waving goodbye as she made her way over to the car with Wolfgang.
"Hey Jasp, I missed you so much" greeted Mia as she accepted Jasper's careful hug.
"I missed you too, M. But you really don't need to go around getting stabbed for us to visit" whispered the young man.
Wolfgang helped Mia get settled in the car before giving her a fistbump and heading back to the band.
Turning on his playlist, Jasper blasted "Party in the USA" as he navigated his way out of the high school parking lot. Mia laughed and rolled down the windows as the pair sang all the way home.

Jasper was able to fix up her side easily with the healing crystals he brought from Swellview. He complimented the rabbit doctor's stitches, but warned Mia against being stabbed again. She laughed and let him know she wasn't planning on it.
The pair then made a delicious creamy herb lemon chicken salad for dinner and curled up in the family room to watch TV. Resting her head on Jasper's shoulder, Mia counted the blessings in her life and how lucky she was to have so many people who cared about her.
It was with a heavy heart that Mia said goodbye to Jasper the next morning. He gave her a tight hug and reminded her that she would be coming to Swellview the next week. Waving goodbye Mia watched as his van disappeared through the gates. The loud meowing of Duchess and Thomas led her back into the house for some breakfast for her and the pets.
