CHAPTER 65

THE STORM

"Dianna. It's me, Davis" Dianna heard Davis' loud voice while she knocked on the door of her cabin. Dianna looked at her phone, it was on mute, and she had messages unread and phone calls not taken, which she didn't even see. She just checked the time, it was 6AM; way too early for any new intel, unless it was incredibly urgent. Dianna sighed and got up from the bed, she didn't sleep much, maybe a couple of hours, but duty calls, so she stood up and opened the door.

"Hey" Davis grumbled, with her hair a little disheveled, and she was wearing sweatpants, t-shirt and a puffy jacket. Dianna frowned, confused, because she certainly wasn't calling Dianna to go with her to the Command Center like that. "She's all yours" Davis said, turning her head to the side, and quickly walked off. Jason suddenly stepped in and stood in front of Dianna's door, agitated, with his hands in the pockets of his famous puffy jacket.

"We need to talk" he quickly said, and was about to step inside Dianna's cabin, but she raised a hand, gesturing for him to wait there. She closed the door and calmly walked to her small bag, where she kept her passport and jewelry, things she couldn't lose because they were too important, and walked back to the door. She opened it again, with a neutral expression, and gave Jason something. He clumsily opened his hand, confused, and saw, shocked, when Dianna put the rose gold ring in his hand. He looked up at her, and he felt a very strong slap on his left cheek. Dianna was right-handed, after all. He was so astonished that he blinked and hesitated for a second, just enough time for Dianna to aggressively shut the door on his face.

"Dianna open the door" Jason finally reacted, harshly whispering to her. "You know I can't be seen talking to you, if Jessica finds out, it was all for nothing".

A couple of seconds later, Dianna opened the door, but with the chain lock.

"Dianna" Jason gritted his teeth, feeling his cheek burn and his blood boil. "Nothing happened. Open the door" he said, annoyed because she wasn't being reasonable.

"No. I don't believe you" Dianna calmly said, very cold, and Jason felt his own heart slow down. She was too calm.

"Open the door, I told you, nothing happened. How can you not believe me?" he said, now a little desperate.

Dianna closed the door, removed the chain, and opened it again. But she stood right at the entrance, blocking him.

"Do you swear that nothing happened?" she calmly asked, with a neutral expression. She had that expression when she interrogated someone.

"I swear, no" Jason quickly said, exasperated, but he regretted it immediately. Because Dianna smirked at him. Dangerously smirked.

"You two kissed" she stated, not a question, and Jason swallowed. "And she was naked" she declared, and his chin dropped. He had no idea how she knew that. "So you just lied to me, Jason. Good bye" she said, shutting the door again, and locking it.

Jason breathed hard, and started to feel that a panic attack was coming.

"It wasn't like that, Dianna. I can explain. I meant we didn't sleep together. Please, I can't tell you out here" he said, leaning on the door with his forehead. He was loudly whispering, and fortunately her cabin was one of the last ones from the row, but he kept looking sideways to see if Jessica appeared, because her cabin wasn't too distant from Dianna's.

Dianna kept quiet for a couple of seconds, and Jason was about to walk away and try again later, when she was out of her cabin, but then Dianna started talking again.

"I'm not Alana, Jason. And Jessica is not Bravo Team. You have to choose what's more important. I won't open the door" she said, determined.

"What, between Jessica and you? You are more important, of course" he quickly answered, whispering.

Dianna kept silent for another second.

"Then tell me what happened" she said, with a neutral voice.

Jason nodded, even though Dianna couldn't see it. He waited for her to open the door, but she didn't. He looked at it, confused. "I will. Just open the door and I'll tell you everything I found out, and what happened last night, ok?"

"I told you, I won't open the door. You can tell me from out there" Dianna said, determined.

"But then it would all be in vain, Dianna" Jason was getting nervous now. "Why can't you open the door?"

"Because I don't want to look at your face, Jason. I will slap you again if I do" she loudly said, finally feeling the anger that didn't come out on her slap. And her slap was strong, Jason's cheek was still burning.

Jason squirmed, agitated, and glanced at the ring in his hand.

"You know what? How can you not trust me, huh? After all that happened between us. How can you even think that I slept with her? That's offensive, Dianna. It hurts me, a lot" he said, sincere, and not whispering anymore.

"Because you lied, idiot" she loudly said, and her harsh words surprised Jason. "I just gave you a chance to speak the truth, and you lied to my face. How could I ever trust in what you say now? Even if you only acted to get information from her?"

"I thought you meant if I slept with her. I didn't sleep with her" Jason tried to explain, annoyed and gesticulating a lot, in front of the closed door.

Dianna kept quiet on the other side of the door. Jason waited, and was about to say something.

"Tell me what happened, then. It's your last chance, Jason. Ever" she finally said with a shaky voice.

Jason hesitated, looking sideways.

"Unless you think that getting intel from Jessica is more important than what we have" Dianna added, and Jason swallowed hard.

Jason breathed in and looked around one last time. He leaned his forehead on the door, firmly holding the ring in his hand.

"I got there last night and asked if she had any news about information that she mentioned earlier, that could lead to a good op. So, I walked in to try to convince her, and I mentioned I was bored, she said she knew how to cure the boredom, then she took off her t-shirt, and yes she was naked, and she kissed me right away, but I managed to make her stop and convinced her that I didn't want to sleep with her as a rebound after you. So she put her t-shirt back on and I left" Jason blurted all of it at once, quickly, before women started to come out of their cabins around them.

He heard, relieved, when Dianna unlocked the door and opened it. He was about to step inside, but he saw she had tears rolling down her reddish face. He felt a huge lump in his throat, but suddenly Dianna stepped to the side, to let him come in, and he quickly got inside, standing in the middle of the cabin, uncomfortable.

Dianna sat on her bed, in the same spot that Jessica sat the night before in her own cabin, but without crossing her legs.

"I saw she was naked because the lamp behind her made her t-shirt transparent, Jason" she said, bitterly looking down. Jason kept quiet. "Did you see she was naked under the t-shirt when she opened the door?" she asked, finally looking up.

"No. I swear" he said, and sounded sincere.

"Why did you get inside her cabin, Jason?" Dianna asked, sniffing and still looking at him. Jason squirmed, nervous.

"I told you the truth, I was dying of boredom, I needed to have something to do, and she mentioned there's a new terrorist cell around here. It would grant us a series of ops if that's true, Dianna" he explained, gesticulating.

"You could have gone there in the morning" she said, hurt.

He nodded. "I know. I didn't think it was a big deal". He decided to be honest with Dianna, it would help her understand. "This wasn't the first time that I went to her cabin, Dianna. And nothing happened the other times. I mean, really nothing, no kiss, no nakedness, nothing" he explained, gesturing a lot.

"You noticed she was naked when you were inside her cabin. Because I saw it from outside" Dianna said, looking down.

Jason blinked. "Yes. Huh. I saw she was braless. A few moments before she kissed me, when she got up and came a little closer".

Dianna stood up, agitated. "And what did you think would happen when she approached you, Jason? Late at night, a guy that talks to her everyday, eats with her, gets inside her cabin saying he's bored?" Dianna suddenly raised her voice, she couldn't take it anymore. "She took off her t-shirt and kissed you naked, Jason. You saw her naked, you touched her body. How can you tell me it was nothing?" Dianna said, and Jason had no words.

"It didn't mean anything to me, Dianna" he said, desperate, and came closer to her. "I swear. I barely saw her, she advanced at me, I looked away" he held her forearms, but she shook her hands off from his.

"So you're saying that if I go tonight at Brock's cabin and see him naked, and he kisses me naked, even though I don't have feelings for him, that's nothing?" Dianna loudly said, and Jason felt like he received a punch on his stomach.

"It's not the same, Dianna. A naked guy kissing you. And a guy that is on my team" he said with a shaky voice, feeling more desperate by the second, imagining her getting some sort of revenge with Brock that night.

"You're right. It's not the same" she said, crossing her arms, and Jason breathed in, a little relieved. "I'll be naked, and then I'll wait for him to kiss me. Because then he'll get to feel my boobs too" she mocked, and Jason's face twitched to the side.

"Stop it, Dianna. You're doing it on purpose. I didn't mean for Jessica to kiss me" he said, hurt.

"You knew this could happen" Dianna gesticulated, now yelling at him. "That fucking bitch wanted to get you since day one, and now you're drooling over her for two weeks".

Dianna started to sob and leaned on the wall, and Jason felt his eyes filled with tears too.

"You're right, but I thought I could handle her. I was an idiot, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" he stuttered, hunching down to hold her shoulders, and Dianna slapped his arms, aggressively. Jason was shocked with her reaction.

"Don't touch me, Jason. You smell like her" she declared, and Jason was even more shocked now.

"It's my jacket, I don't know. I didn't sleep with her. You can't treat me like this, Dianna. I made a mistake, but I didn't cheat on you" he loudly said, hurt.

Dianna stopped sobbing and looked at him again.

"Why did you tell Davis that you think Jessica is not that bad?" Dianna suddenly asked, and she stopped crying. She was sitting on the floor now, with her hands around her knees.

Jason looked confused at her, then thought for a second. He sat on her bed, looking tired.

"She told me about how the war against terrorism ruined her marriage, that she had no time for her husband and kid. She divorced and her husband got the custody, and apparently the judge was corrupt. I think someone promised her to help her with that, because she mentioned she was fighting for the custody, her ex is violent, he may be aggressive with her kid" Jason explained, and exhaled.

Dianna smirked at him, she knew he wasn't lying. "She's bored too, right?" she suddenly said.

Jason frowned, and opened his mouth. But didn't say anything.

"Congratulations, Jason. You've been seduced by a spy. She used your own story to create hers" Dianna mocked him, and Jason swallowed.

"I don't think so, no. She didn't know these things about me. About my boredom. I didn't tell anyone how I felt, only her, after she told me-" Jason said, and stopped immediately.

"Oh, cute. You're sharing your feelings with her" Dianna said, and a tear rolled down her face. Jason opened his mouth, lost. "Everybody knew you'd be bored here Jason, even before you arrived. And you're defending her… God" Dianna mocked him again, and this time she stood up. Literally.

"I'm not defending her, Dianna. I just think I can understand a little what happened. I think we should try to approach her in a different way, to turn her or something" he said, standing up too and opening his arms.

Dianna blinked, getting sadder by the minute.

"What other feelings and secrets did you share with her?" Dianna finally asked, afraid of the answer.

But Jason frowned. "Basically that. I mean, she talked about things that related to me, yes, but I was trying to get her to talk, so that's when she told me those things, and I felt bad for her".

She swallowed. "Do you have... feelings for her? Please, don't lie to me, you know I'll see if you're lying" Dianna asked, with a shaky voice.

Jason swallowed. "I do" he said, and Dianna wanted to die. "But not the way you're thinking, no. I care for her, like a friend" Jason explained, and Dianna couldn't see that he was lying, but she was too stunned to think straight.

"Like a friend. She thought you wanted her, that's why she advanced at you" Dianna sarcastically said.

"I was flirting with her, Dianna. I swear, I don't feel anything romantic for her. Or are you telling me that you don't care for the guys, even Brock, that I know you find attractive? Or Sonny, that you were always talking to in the beginning? Who flirted with you all the time?" Jason loudly said, annoyed, but he knew he was right.

Dianna grazed her fingers on her cheeks, to dry her tears.

"But you know how insecure I am around her, and you did this to me" Dianna could barely speak, she was almost crying again.

"And you knew how much I hated Jared, and yet, you kissed him in front of me. Rubbed your body against him" Jason loudly said, and his voice came out shaky. "For like a week I thought you had slept with him, Dianna".

Dianna sniffed, looking at Jason with wide eyes.

"I don't know, Jason" she admitted, exhausted. "I need time".

"No" he quickly said, coming closer and surprising her. "I need to know where we stand. If you want to, I'll stop talking to Jessica" he said, determined.

Dianna kept quiet for a while. "You still smell like her" she said, with a disgusted face.

Jason sighed, and quickly took off his puffy jacket, throwing it to the floor, far away.

"I was wearing it last night. Obviously I don't wash it everyday. What other excuse do you want to use now?" he was getting angry, but also, desperate.

Dianna sighed, and sat on her bed. "Then tell me what you two talked about. Since you two were glued together all the time. Again, I'll know if you're lying. I bet you two weren't talking just about work".

Jason looked up, exhaling.

"Look, I wasn't always glued together with her. I wasn't always looking for Jessica around Camp Larkin, like you think. To be honest, we just bumped into each other a lot, or she came into the cafeteria during the same hours as I did" Jason explained, and Dianna rolled her eyes, knowing that Jessica was obviously following him or something. He ignored her and exhaled again.

"At first, she seemed still kinda mad about Brock, so I started to talk to her about that, trying to show her that not all men were like him. Then, she told me about her personal life, and I told her a little about mine, too. I swear, just a little" Jason stared at Dianna, angry. "Then she started to talk about how much time she's been doing her job, like I told you, and how her husband didn't understand her, because she couldn't share much information. How she lost important moments, like birthdays, of her kid" Jason told, and stopped to think what else. "Then these days Davis gave us something to work on, but at first it led nowhere, the storage that was supposed to be filled with weaponry was empty, and I started to get grumpy because I'm bored. Jessica was talking about how bored she was, how she needed to be active, and only then I told her about it too. She also told me that this draw-down was affecting her a lot".

Dianna stared at Jason, with a neutral expression. She was processing all the information he passed her. Jason waited for a few seconds, but he wasn't a patient man. He came closer, and stood in front of her.

"Dianna. I swear, we talked about that, mostly. I flirted with her a bit, mostly in the beginning, so she could feel appreciated and shit like that, but nothing other than what happened yesterday happened between us" he explained, anxious. But Dianna was now staring blankly ahead. "Dianna" he called her, with a shaky voice, and held her shoulders. She finally looked up at him. "I could never feel anything romantic for her. I already love you" he said, anxious, and he meant every word. He was starting to panic.

Dianna breathed in, finally blinking. She was coming out of her haze, and grazed her finger on his beard, loving the look of the longer beard on Jason. He felt shivers, and a bit relieved, because she was at least touching him, and letting him touch her.

"Jason" Dianna called, now grazing her finger on his chest. Jason was still shivering from her delicate touch. "How often do you wear that jacket?" she looked at his puffy jacket. She loved that jacket, and so did he.

Jason squirmed, confused, and took his hands off her shoulder. "Almost everyday, I think" he admitted. The nights and mornings were very chilly in J-Bad.

"Did you ever wash it?" Dianna looked up at him again.

He squirmed again. "I don't think so. But I'll wash it today, I promise. To take off her smell" He said, gesturing.

"No" Dianna quickly said. "Wait" she suddenly sounded anxious, and now Jason was confused. "Jason, do you have a routine here? Like, do you always eat at the same time?"

Jason was lost now. "No... I don't know. No, I don't even wake up at the same time each day. If we have ops, it depends on the hour too. Why?"

"Was Jessica really always at the cafeteria, or coming there, when you were there?" she asked, anxious.

Jason licked his lips, thinking. "Yeah. I know it may sound like she was following me, and I thought that too, but the cabins are far away from there. Maybe she just had the same schedule than me, I dunno".

"Jason, no" Dianna held his t-shirt, and Jason didn't know if he felt happy about being so close to her again, or concerned with her expression. "I think she put a tracker on you. Do you ever take off that jacket? At the cafeteria, somewhere?"

He swallowed, concerned as fuck. "No. It's cold there. In my cabin, but she would never get in there, there's always one of the guys around" he said, and stopped to think. "The Command Center. It's hot there, I take it off every time I get in there" he said, only now realizing. "But there couldn't be anything in my pockets, I would've felt it" he quickly walked to the jacket, and put his hands in it, they were empty.

Dianna grabbed her phone, and made a phone call.

"Nick. I need you to come here like, right now. We may be bugged. Bring pants and a sweatshirt you have there, anything" she said, anxious, looking at Jason. He was touching his jacket everywhere now, but gave up, he was too tense.

Dianna walked to Jason again. "You talked to Davis about Jessica. Were you wearing the jacket then? Did you talk to her or someone else another time about that?"

"No, only one time" Jason said, and relaxed. "I was wearing uniform, I was getting back from an op and Davis stopped me to talk" he said, and Dianna breathed, relaxed.

"Do you think she has a bug on me? Or a GPS tracker?" Jason asked, concerned.

Dianna shrugged. "I don't know. She always knew were you were, but from what you're saying, she knew a lot about you too" she said, bitter.

Jason leaned on the wall, looking at her. "I didn't share much. I promise".

A loud knock on the door was heard, and Dianna quickly opened the door, for Nick to come inside. He was still wearing running clothes, and brought clothes for Jason. He nodded at both of them, anxious.

"I take it that Hayes is the one probably bugged" he whispered close to Dianna, and she nodded. Nick looked at Jason and put his finger on his mouth, and gestured for him to undress completely, taking a small device from his pocket. Jason got the clothes from Nick and walked to the bathroom, undressing and wearing the clothes Nick brought to him.

When Jason came out Nick was already checking his jacket, and they heard a beep sound. They looked at each other, it came from the collar, there was a tiny little black ball almost glued to it, really discreet, where the collar folds behind the neck. Easy access to take it off and put it on. Jason swallowed, but Nick continued. There was another beep, this time it came from the seam of the bottom of the jacket. Another flat tiny device was almost glued to it, inside a small tear. Nick passed his device on all of Jason's clothes there, there was nothing else other than those two. He analyzed the tiny devices, then looked at Jason and Dianna.

"One is a tracker, the other one is a recorder" he concluded, showing that the one inside the seam was the tracker, and the one in the collar was the recorder, and they shivered.

"Is the recorder streaming live? What we're saying" Dianna asked, anxious.

"Fortunately, no, it just records. She probably takes one out from the jacket and places a new one, then she listens to the recordings of what Jason said during the previous period" he explained.

"We can use it, then. She doesn't know we found it" Dianna said, smiling for the first time in a couple of days. Jason kept quiet, listening to Dianna and Nick brainstorm.

"Well, actually, she would listen to what the bug recorded today. What we're talking, and what you guys talked" Nick explained, and Jason and Dianna glanced at each other. They talked a lot. "And this tracker device is probably very precise, and it's giving her the data live. This one she probably never took off, after the first time. So, right now she knows Jason is here in your cabin" Nick added, exhaling.

"Fuck" Jason grumbled, nervous.

"Wait, can't we destroy it? Or just take it off? The recording bug. She'll just think that Jason lost it, or that he smashed his jacket somewhere, and then she'll replace it for another one" Dianna suggested.

Nick pouted. "It's hard to destroy it. It's best if we just disappear with it. Are you thinking about keeping the tracker then?"

Dianna shrugged. "Maybe" she glanced at Jason. "What does Jessica know about us? I mean, you were kinda harsh with me at the cafeteria" she reminded him, uncomfortable.

Jason squirmed. "She thinks I'm the one who broke up. Because, you know, I needed her to think that I was like, free" he explained.

"Oh. Okay" Dianna swallowed. "But then it's kinda mean how you treated me, right?" she felt hurt, and Nick was watching their discussion, uncomfortable.

Jason looked down, uncomfortable too. "I told her you were trying to get another chance with me, but I had moved on. So, I was kinda cold because of that".

Dianna crossed her arms, annoyed. "That's gentlemanly of you to tell her that, huh. I'm impressed that she didn't think you were a scumbag too".

Jason exhaled. "She thought it was weird that we parted so friendly. So I told her that I was hurt because you didn't understand how much my job is important to me, and I can't just give it up. So, I broke up with you mostly because of that, and I was still a bit angry with you" he explained.

Dianna is the one who squirmed now. "Did she believe it? That I would ask you to give up your job".

Jason shrugged. "It happened before. She mentioned her husband asked her the same thing. So, yes".

"What husband?" Nick intervened. "Thought she was single".

Jason turned to him. "She said she's divorced. And lost custody of the kid, a six year-old".

"Oh, ok. But wait. I never knew her kid, for how long has she been divorced?" Nick asked, confused. Dianna watched attentively.

"I don't remember if she told me. But her kid was still small, I think. Maybe three years? Four?" Jason answered, shrugging.

"Nick, for how long has Jessica been a CIA agent?" Dianna asked, anxious, and Nick shrugged. "You need to find that out. She told Jason she's been 'in this job' for a long time".

Nick stared for a few seconds. "You don't think she's just been bribed" he concluded, not a question.

"You think she's a double agent" Jason concluded too, frowning.

Dianna shrugged, concerned. "Like I said. She's too American to be American". She looked at Jason, with a sad expression. "She's also very seductive and convincing. A double agent certainly would be".

Jason and Dianna stayed inside her cabin, both of them sitting on the floor. Jason was leaning on the wall, and Dianna was leaning on the bed behind her, in front of him. They knew they needed to talk, and they had time now, because they also needed to come up with a reason for Jason staying there all this time. They were there for more than an hour, so now if he left or not, it would be the same. They needed to agree on what happened, first. Nick left to use his device on the rest of Jason's clothes and uniform, to check if Jessica had planted a bug somewhere else, and also check his own clothes and Davis'. She had access to all of them. Dianna had just arrived a day and a half before, so there were no bugs in her clothes. They checked, just in case.

"Do you still want me to continue with this?" Jason asked, frowning. He was tired, physically and mentally. Dianna kept quiet, pensive. "She thinks I want something serious with her, Dianna. I told her I wanted to take it slow when I left her cabin" Jason warned her.

"I don't want you to continue to flirt with her, no" Dianna thought out loud, but she was being honest. Jason licked his lips, and he liked her honesty. "I know it's important to find out what she knows and what she's doing. She almost killed me, Jason" Dianna reminded him, with a shaky voice and holding her knees, and he swallowed. "But I can't stand you being next to her, alone. Sorry. I'm not usually jealous, but I can't, no" she said, feeling extremely vulnerable.

Jason stared at her for a few moments. "Then I won't. I don't want to hurt you, Dianna".

She blinked, looking at him. "It's not that I don't think that what you're doing, what we're doing, is important, Jason" she quickly told him.

"I know" he huskily said.

"I don't want to be the reason why Jessica gets away with it" she added.

He exhaled. "I know".

Dianna swallowed. "It's just that I'm tired of putting my career first and losing everything else" she said, with tears in her eyes, firmly holding her knees. Jason nodded.

"Ok. I understand" he said, affectionate.

"I'd never ask you to give up being Bravo One. You know that, right? I love both of these versions of you" she said, anxious.

Jason licked his lips and nodded, slightly smirking now. She said she still loves him, that was good.

Dianna kept quiet, looking down. "Maybe we could get back together, but you remain her friend. Maybe all of us approached her as friends" she looked up at him, and Jason had a crooked smile on his face now.

"She'd never believe you would want to be her friend after what you saw last night" he reminded her, amused.

"Maybe... I don't know. We got back together, but you remain her friend? Even though I don't like it that much. It would show her you're loyal to her. Of course, you wouldn't see her that much" Dianna suggested, quickly adding the last part.

Jason shrugged, smirking. "It could work. I could tell her that we got back together, but we still have issues. She may invent something else about her fake life and let something slip, to convince me to break up with you" he suggested.

"That's a really good idea" Dianna admitted. "You would still be loyal to her, and she would be more eager to convince you she's good" Dianna smirked, liking the idea. Jason nodded, amused.

She stood up, walking around the room, planning. "We could have a fight about her, it would be recorded. You could defend her. I would be the 'bad guy', and she would be your good friend. No flirting, though" she gestured to him with a finger up. Dianna was having fun with the plan.

Jason stood up too. "And when we want to talk without her listening? I take off my jacket? She'd still listen" he asked, curious.

"We can write things down" Dianna suggested.

"No. I'll leave the jacket in my cabin" he said, determined. "But we have to tell Ray. She's been listening to him calling his family and venting his problems to me this entire time, Dianna" he reminded her, nervous, and she nodded, anxious too. "I'll leave my jacket there and see you here. We signed the papers, after all" he said, coming closer. Dianna had wide eyes.

"Hum. We did" she said, looking up at him.

"We can share a bedroom, actually. But I prefer to have a place to leave my jacket far from here" he added, charming, and hovering over Dianna.

"Yes, it's best. I think. Sometimes" she said, blinking and looking up at him. He didn't smell like Jessica anymore.

"I missed you, Dianna. I'm used to being away for long periods, but it doesn't mean I don't miss you" he confessed, grazing his thumb on her cheek.

"U-hum. Me too. I mean, I'm used to traveling a lot" she said, looking from his eyes to his lips.

"Please, tell me you forgive my mistake last night. You kissed Jared, and in front of me. And Jessica kissed me, even though for a few seconds only. Can we please move on from that?" he asked, anxiously looking at her and moving his thumb closer to her bottom lip.

"She was naked, too" she reminded him, blinking. Jason nodded.

"You can hear the recording from last night, or last days, Dianna. I don't mind. You'll see I'm telling the truth" he suggested, because Nick took the device with him to hear it and see if he could take some information that Jason didn't remember.

Dianna thought for a couple of seconds, then shook her head. She believed him in a way, and the fact that he suggested her that only confirmed it. It's not that she didn't believe him, it's just that it really hurt her.

Dianna kept thinking, while Jason grazed his thumb gently on her bottom lip, looking affectionately and with hunger at her.

"You should give me more time" she said, stuttering.

He licked his lips, still grazing his thumb on her bottom lip.

"I can give you time, if that's what you want. But we'll still need to pretend we got back together, Dianna. I would be with you a lot" he said. "I would be professional during the day" he stated, and she nodded. "But I would hold you when we gathered by the fire at night, drinking beer with the guys. It's our time off".

She nodded, licking her lips. "Sure. I know".

"Then I would come back here, and sleep here" Jason reminded her, hunching down and moving his face closer to hers. "We wouldn't just sleep" he huskily said, near her ear. Dianna closed her eyes, shivering with his voice.

"I wouldn't want her to hear anything here" Dianna said, annoyed.

"She wouldn't. Maybe you can still smell her on my jacket, so I'd always leave it behind when I came here" he said, but Dianna shook her head.

"She'd suspect. Maybe bug another piece of clothing you have".

Jason exhaled. "Fine. Sometimes I'll wear it here, others don't, ok" he said, impatient.

"Sure. Ok. Then we can talk about her" Dianna nodded.

Jason licked his lips, leaning even closer to her, because she let him keep his thumb on her lip.

"That too" he huskily said, keeping his lips close to Dianna's, but waiting for her to decide.

Dianna looked at his lips, Jason was all over her, invading her personal space completely, which she loved. She was dying to kiss him, but she was tired of forgiving and forgetting all that he said and did so fast. It was hard, but maybe she should really give herself time to think things through.

"We'll pretend we're together. But I need time, Jason. Please" she asked, with a shaky voice. She was pleading him to not seduce her right now.

Jason hesitated, he knew that if he kissed her she would probably let him, but maybe later on she would feel more angry with him because of that.

"Okay" he swallowed, nodding. "I'll give you that. I'll wait for you to forgive my mistake" he said, distancing a little from her, keeping his thumb on her lip. "But when we're in public I'll act just as if we were okay. I won't hold back" he alerted her.

Dianna hesitated, but he was right. "Okay. Alright" she quietly said.

"Good" he smirked, and distanced from her, getting his jacket from the chair. He had put back on his jeans and t-shirt earlier, when Nick confirmed there were no more bugs or trackers.

"Let's go have some breakfast, then. I'll wait for you to get dressed" Jason casually said, sitting on the chair.

Dianna knew what he was doing. But she knew he was right, so she took off her PJs and put on her jeans, t-shirt and jacket. In her bathroom.

"I don't think we would do all this PDA, Jason" Dianna grumbled, but smiling at him, a little fake. Jason was holding her so close from the waist that she had to look really up to see his face, and it was hard for her to walk in a straight line.

"Of course we would. I haven't talked to you for a month. We were broken up. We just had a night of great, passionate, sex" he huskily said in her ear, and Dianna gasped.

"She might suspect, it's a little too much. You said it yourself, you were angry with me" Dianna reminded him while they were approaching the cafeteria.

Jason sighed. "Fine. Tomorrow we'll tone it down, then. But remember, until I leave my jacket unattended at the Command Center today, we can talk aaaall we want" he huskily said again in her ear, and now Dianna knew he was doing it on purpose. She had been suspecting, for a while, that he noticed she liked his voice, a lot.

They arrived at the cafeteria, with Jason still holding Dianna as if she was a trophy wife, and immediately they saw Jessica there, sitting at the same table that they were sitting when Dianna saw them, a couple of days before. Dianna turned and looked at Jason.

"Let me guess, that's the spot where you always liked to sit during the first days, huh" she sarcastically and quietly said, and Jason pouted. She was right, of course.

"It's close to the food and there's no draft" Jason explained to her. "Ok, I'll greet her, please don't be annoyed" Jason whispered.

"Of course I'll be annoyed. I'd be annoyed anyways, Jason" she whispered back, already annoyed. Jessica was attentively watching them.

"I meant, don't be annoyed in 'real life'. Just in 'undercover life'" Jason quickly whispered, and let go of Dianna's waist, a little too bluntly. Dianna looked at him, annoyed as fuck.

"Hey. Jess" he affectionately greeted her, stopping at her table, and Jessica looked at both of them, a little uncomfortable and confused, but grinned at Jason. Dianna decided she would stay close to him, jealous, in 'undercover life', so she did just that. She'd do it in 'real life' too.

"Hi" Dianna greeted Jessica, not trying to disguise her jealousy and standing glued to Jason. "Jason told me, this morning, that maybe you have some news about a terrorist organization?" she casually asked, and Jason turned to her, annoyed. She was meddling already, but then again, she would also be meddling in 'undercover life'.

"Oh. Yes. I mean, maybe. I just mentioned it to him these days. Still need to confirm" Jessica quickly said, squirming and looking at both of them.

"Hum. So, you got nothing, really. What a surprise" Dianna sarcastically said, looking at Jason, and he squirmed, a lot.

Jessica's face went red, which is exactly what Dianna wanted, because now she'd blurt to Jason anything she might have. "I'll go get me some food, ok? I'm starving" Dianna said, and kissed a confused Jason on the cheek before walking away. There was an awkward silence between Jessica and Jason.

"Sorry about that" he finally said, with an apologetic expression. "We, huh, got back together earlier today. Kind of" he said, and didn't even have to lie much.

Jessica had a sad expression. "I see. Did you work out your problems with her, then? The ones you said had no solution?" she tried to sound affectionate, but there was a hint of sarcasm too. She glanced at Dianna, who was staring at them from the counter, curious.

"I think so. I mean, there are some issues yet, but we'll try to make it work" Jason said, anxious, and leaned on Jessica's table, closer to her. "I hope we can still be friends, Jess. I really like talking to you. I mean, there are things that I can only talk about to you, you know? Things about work, especially" he said, throwing the hook.

She took it, because her eyes sparkled and she sat more erect.

"Sure, yeah. I'd love that. I like talking to you, too, Jace" she affectionately said, with wide eyes. She was good.

Jason turned to glance at Dianna, who was still looking at them, then he stood straight again.

"Maybe we can catch up some other time? Here at the cafeteria, where we always end up meeting? I think we feel hungry at the same time" he chuckled, relaxed.

Jessica chuckled. "Sure. I'll see you soon, then" she said, shy, and watched as Jason nodded and walked back to Dianna. They seemed to exchange annoyed looks.

To Jessica, that couple didn't seem to be going to last for too long, no.
