The two agents had arrived at the boatshed with their friend's mother and daughter, it would be hard to keep a child still young contained and cooped up while they worked. Callen and Sam had two agents stay with Roberta and Dani, two agents had stayed with them inside of the boatshed and two remained outside.
They had gone back to the office, and Callen had to talk to Hetty. The blonde senior agent found the short woman at her desk making a cup of tea. She had looked up at the senior agent.
"Mr. Callen, how is Mr. Deeks and his family?" Hetty asked him.
"Deeks is fine, Kensi is with him. We've got Mrs. Deeks and Dani at the boatshed with agents surrounding them, they're safe" Callen answers his boss.
"That's good. Any update on who shot Mr. Deeks?"
"Not yet. How long have you known about Dani?"
"For a while, before Mr. Deeks came here and disclosed it to me. It wasn't my place to tell you all about her. It's his family news to share, not mine. I was going to let him tell you all on his own"
"I'm not mad at him, he was protecting her. I guess we're all in shock still, it was a lot to process. Still is a lot to process"
"I'm sure once the shock wears off you all will get to know Dani, she's a bright and active little one"
"Sounds like her father. Hetty, any news on Dani's mother?"
"She cannot be updated, Mr. Callen"
Hearing the tone in her voice Callen knew what she was saying and took the hint dropping the subject. Deeks was a single parent in one of the hardest jobs a person could have.
"We're looking into any of his past cases that this might be linked to" He changed the subject. "I'm gonna have Eric pull any and all files from the LAPD that Deeks was working on"
"Do it. I'll call in some favors. For now while we work it's up to us to keep Mr. Deeks family safe"
"Nobody's gonna get near them"
Eric had come down. "I think we got something"
Meanwhile
Deeks had been going stir crazy in the hospital, if the circumstances were different he wouldn't have minded it. But he couldn't help but still worry about his mother and daughter. He trusted his new team to watch over and protect them.
But with the threat on him, he didn't wanna take any chances of something happening to his family. It was already bad enough he lost his wife just a year prior. If anything happened to his mother or daughter, he didn't know what he would do.
Getting up from the bed he started to change just as Kensi was coming back in the room, the female agent was getting confused.
"Where are you going?" She asked the shaggy blonde man.
"To be with my mother and daughter" Deek replied, pulling his dark blue jeans up.
"Deeks, they're safe. You're still injured"
"I'll be fine. I can't lose them…the way I lost Grace"
Kensi's heart broke for her new partner, he lost his wife, his daughter was forced to grow up without a mother, he had one of the hardest jobs as a single parent, and now with the current threat he was more worried about his family than himself.
She put a gentle hand on his shoulder, giving him a sympathetic look. "You won't lose them Deeks but they need you to be at a hundred percent for them"
"I wanna be with them"
"There's no changing your mind is there?"
"Sorry Fern"
"Stop calling me that" She let out a small sigh. "Alright let's go"
Once the shaggy haired detective was dressed they left going out of the hospital. Kensi looked around checking for any and all possible threats. She helped him down the steps slowly and carefully. A loud noise could be heard as a car was speeding up and turned harshly.
The two heard it and Kensi saw a man coming out the window with a gun and started firing his gun.
