Chapter 12: A Cockatoo's Redemption
Almost all macaws in the Amazon that is a teenager and older, has a mate, boyfriend or girlfriend, and some of them even have someone that's a different species or even not even a macaw at all as their life partner. Just like how Tiago has a Scarlet Macaw, Bia has a Spix Macaw, Carla have a Peregrine Falcon, Belle have a Spix Macaw, Junior have a Scarlet macaw, and Max have a Military Macaw as their loved one, and they were mostly happy with their one and only's. Except for one certain, chubby blue macaw.
Crystal has yet to find or meet her special bird that she wants to spend her time with, to share romantic times as well as plenty of kisses and hugs. She hated to admit it, but she was extremely jealous of her brothers, sister, and cousins because they had someone to love and care for. She don't.
She sit in the tree branch and ate a Brazil nut. She was thinking about going to Rio by herself to see her uncles Nico, Pedro, Rico, and Ricky.
Crystal exited the edge of the territory, she settled down again on a tree branch and she honestly wanted to cry a bit as she felt her life was pathetic by not having someone yet. The teenage white cockatoo hears her crying. He came to check up on her.
"Hey are you alright?" The cockatoo asked her.
Crystal look at the teenage white cockatoo. She heard from her father that cockatoos can't be trusted because of what Nigel did to her and her family when she was little.
"Who are you and what do you want? You better go before I attack you?"Crystal said in a brave tone towards the cockatoo.
The cockatoo is surprised.
"Whoa. What did I do?" The cockatoo asked in surprise.
"I heard cockatoos can't be trusted. I seen one of your kind before. He want to terrorize my family for the rest of his life for revenge." Crystal inform the cockatoo.
The cockatoo feelings are hurt.
"Oh. His name is Nigel." The cockatoo said.
Crystal is shocked that the cockatoo knows his name.
"How do you know his name?" Crystal asked the cockatoo.
Clive cries in tears." Nigel is my father." Crystal is shocked that Clive is Nigel's son.
"If you are Nigel's son. Why are you not attacking me?" Crystal asked the cockatoo.
"I am not evil like my father is. I don't want to attack you or anyone else. When I was born, my father said I will take his place to get revenge on you and your family but I am different." The cockatoo said.
"Different how?" Crystal asked the cockatoo.
"I want to live a good life. To have someone to love, have kids, and make friends. My mother died from cancer. My father never loved me as his son. When I tried to make friends, the other birds ignored me because they think I am evil like my father is. That's why I moved to the Amazon Rainforest to stay away from him." The cockatoo told Crystal.
Crystal feels sorry for the cockatoo.
"I'm so sorry to hear that. Would you want to live with me and my family?" Crystal asked him.
"Of course I will." The cockatoo replied.
"My family are very nice. I'm Crystal by the way." Crystal introduced herself.
"I'm Clive." The cockatoo introduced himself.
"Follow me." Crystal said. Clive follow Crystal. They made it to her hollow. Clive is nervous.
"I'm nervous." Clive said.
"Don't worry, I will be with you." Crystal said.
Clive blush. Blu, Banjo, and Alex are talking to each other. They see Crystal and Clive. Blu, Banjo, and Alex are shocked to see a cockatoo.
"Crystal who is this?" Banjo asked angrily.
"This is Clive. He is my new friend." Clive respond to her father.
"Friend. Did I told you that cockatoos can't be our friends. Remember Nigel sweetie." Banjo yelled at her.
"Yes I do remember Nigel but Clive is not evil like Nigel is. Clive is Nigel's son." Crystal told her father as she remembered what Clive said to her.
"Get out of here and don't come back." Banjo yelled at Clive in front of his face.
"Sir, I am not here to hurt you. I want to have friends. Please." Clive begged him.
Banjo yelled at Clive. "Never. Now go."
"If that what you want." Clive said. He flys away. Blu is shocked of his brother attitude and Alex don't like his friend treatment towards the cockatoo. Alex feels bad for his friend Crystal. At first he didn't like the cockatoo but Crystal told her father, her uncle, and her Scarlet macaw friend Alex that Clive is not evil like Nigel. He sees good in the teenage cockatoo.
"Dad, how could you?" Crystal yelled. Crystal flies away while crying exiting the hollow to find her friend.
"Banjo why did you do that? You should've had accepted him." Alex said.
"Yeah you don't have to be hard on the cockatoo." Blu added.
"Why would I do that? Don't you remember Nigel on what he did to us?" Banjo yelled at Blu and Alex.
"That teenage cockatoo is not Nigel. He is proving himself that he is not bad like his father. You are not seeing that." Alex yelled back.
"Not going to happen." Banjo said.
"Banjo you used to be a good brother." Blu said.
"You are being mean." Alex said.
Crystal fly to find her friend Clive. She found him. Clive and Crystal spend the day together and it is getting dark. They left the tree and they decide to sleep in Alex's hollow. They arrived at Alex's hollow. Alex's hollow is empty and they got inside the hollow. Alex and his family arrived at his hollow and see the two birds.
"Crystal, Clive. What are you two doing here?" Alex asked them.
"We want to stay in your hollow." Crystal told her Scarlet macaw friend.
"Alex, can Crystal stay with me tonight? I want to have company." Clive asked him.
Alex felt sorry for his friend and Clive. He don't want to kick them out, he decide to let them stay.
"Of course." Alex said.
"Thank you Alex and you have a nice family." Clive thanked the Scarlet macaw.
"You're welcome and thank you Clive." Alex thanked him. "Clive, this is my mate Lily and our two children Cadence and Eddie. Family this is my new friend Clive." Alex introduced Clive to the family.
"Hello Alex's family, it's so nice to meet you." Clive said in a nice manner way.
"Nice to meet you Clive." Lily said.
"Make yourself at home." Cadence said.
"Thanks for being loyal cockatoo." Eddie said.
"Yeah I am a good guy." Clive said.
"Goodnight Crystal and Clive." Alex said.
Goodnight Alex." Crystal and Clive said. Alex leave them to a room in the hollow.
Clive and Crystal are talking to each other. He really wanted to be accepted, live a happy life, and find true love. He had these feelings for Crystal, after all she was the first one that talked to him, she was the first friend, and she understands what he was going through. His heart tells him that there is someone special in his life. He finally figured it out, he loves Crystal.
"Clive, is everything okay?" Crystal asked him.
"Yes." Clive answered.
"You can tell me anything." Crystal said.
"I am good." Clive said.
"Just making sure." Crystal said.
"Crystal I need to tell you something!" Clive said.
"Sure what's up!" Crystal said.
"Crystal, I have feelings for you when I first saw you. You were the first friend I ever had. You listened to my story and you understand what I was going through. You were there for me. I love you Crystal." Clive finished his sentence.
Crystal is shocked on what Clive said.
"Clive, why you say that? She now hate me." Clive said in his thoughts.
Crystal don't know how to respond to this, she looked at him straight in his eyes. She grab his face and kiss him on the beak. Clive is shocked, he accepted this new feeling by kissing back, he put his wings around Crystal, and the two continue to kiss each other. Crystal finally found true love.
"I enjoyed our kiss Crystal." Clive said.
"I never meant anyone like you Clive." Crystal said in a romantic way.
"Should we get some sleep my love?" Clive asked his girlfriend.
"Yes." Crystal responded. Clive and Crystal sleep together.
The next morning. Banjo is awake.
"Blu and Alex. I want to apologize to you guys. I overreacted yesterday." Banjo said.
"I accepted your apology but you should apologize to Crystal." Alex said.
"Yeah it's not just us." Blu added.
Banjo sees a teenage white cockatoo coming with Crystal. Banjo got his wings up.
"Banjo, no." Blu and Alex said.
"Watch it Blu and Alex. I am going to defeat the cockatoo once and for all." Banjo said. Banjo screamed. It woke all the Spix Macaw Tribe up. Crystal and Clive came to the hollow.
"Banjo let's listen on what he have to say?" Alex asked his friend.
"Fine." Banjo fold his wings.
"Go ahead." Blu and Alex said.
Crystal flys back to the hollow and she is so scared on what her father will do.
"Thank you Blu and Alex. Sir, I know seeing me reminds you of my father. When I was born, my father never cared about me, he abuse me, and he never love me. My mother died from cancer. I decide to live in the Amazon Rainforest. I am not here to kill you, your wife, and your family. All I wanted is to make friends and live in peace. I love your daughter Crystal, she is the first one that listened to me. I would love to have her as my girlfriend. If you please give me a chance and to show how I am not evil like my father is." Clive finished his sentence.
Banjo's expression changed from angry to speechless as inside his heart melted. Maybe he could accept the son of his enemy and give him a chance, besides if Crystal was happy with Clive, what could he say about their love?
"Okay I will give you a chance. I'm sorry for the way I treated you. You can be with Crystal." Banjo said.
"Really. Oh My God. Thank you so much sir. I won't let you down." Clive said excitedly.
"You're welcome let's hope not." Banjo said.
Crystal fly and see her boyfriend Clive.
"It's real my love. We can be together." Clive said.
"Yay. I love you." Crystal said.
"I love you too." Clive said.
Clive and Crystal hugged each other. They kissed each other.
"Awwwwww." Blu, Banjo, and Alex cooed.
As the days passed, Clive did prove himself and eventually Banjo was happy having Clive around, even having friendly chats with his future son-in-law. Clive had what he wanted all his life, a chance at a new life, now with someone that loves him and soon enough, making many friends with the Blue macaws. And Crystal had what she wanted, someone to finally love and in the future be a mate to, even if it was the son of her father's enemy. But that didn't matter to her, all that mattered to her was that she loved Clive with all of her heart, just as he does to her. Crystal is happy that she find true love and Clive promise not to break her heart and he is not like his father Nigel.
Just accept to the sons or daughters of your enemies. You should never judge a book by it's its cover.
