Paul's POV
I walked all the way to Sam's place before dropping my phone and shirt on the back deck before heading to the woods and phasing. Leah and Jared were still patrolling.
'Jared, I have to talk to Sam about something. Any chance you could stay with Embry until I get back? I am at Sam's right now.'
'Sure dude, hope everything is alright.'
'Ya all cool, just have a few questions for him' I answered him. Before phasing back grabbing my phone and shirt walking into the kitchen. There were still cookies on the counter there, I grabbed one eating it walking into the living room.
Sam glared at me. "You have about 2 minutes before you're late for patrol, Paul."
I nodded taking a seat on the couch. "Jared is covering for me, I need to talk to you about something before going out on patrol."
He nodded and smiled before kissing Emily. "You should get to bed, I'll be up in a few minutes as soon as I'm done with Paul."
I smiled. "When I dropped Jordan off at home her father pulled me aside to talk to me. He wanted to know who ran the tribe. I didn't know what to tell him. I mean I know you, Sue, old Quil and Billy all make decisions. But he wants to get Jordan out of her counselling appointments."
Sam looked down. "I am not going to allow her out of them until she goes to meet Sue at least once, Paul. I heard what you said to Embry this afternoon."
I nodded handing him a piece of paper. "It is Sam's number, could you talk to him and explain it to him what the decision of the council and how it all works?"
Sam nodded. "You get outside on patrol." Just as I turned to leave, he called back to me. "Oh Paul, I am proud of you for getting coverage before coming to talk to me."
I smiled before making my way to the door taking my phone out of my pocket leaving it on the counter before running out the woods. I felt the all familiar shiver of phasing. Jared smiled. 'Glad you are back, I'm going to see Kim. Please have a quiet night!'
Sam Ulley's POV
I watched Paul leave the house, taking a deep breath. Looking at the paper picking up the phone dialling the number.
After 2 rings someone picked up the phone, 'Hello … Who is this?'
"I'm sorry to have woken you, Sam Braddock. But my name is Sam Ulley." I replied on the phone.
'How did you get my number?'
"Paul Walker gave it to me. He said you needed to talk to me."
'You are the one in charge of the tribe.'
"Are you fully awake enough to talk about this?"
I could hear a sigh on the phone. 'Sorry, it has just been a rough day.'
"That is okay I do understand. Paul came to me before going to get some stuff done. He was concerned and wanted an exact answer as to who ran the tribe."
'I'm sorry if I put him in a tight spot but I needed to talk to who ever is in charge and no one at the court house would give me an answer.'
"That is okay. Most of the time the courts don't know how we run things here. We have a council who runs the tribe. I am the head of the council but there are 4 of us on it."
'Well that is great. Can we talk about cancelling the counselling appointment?'
"We can talk about that after the first one. I need her to meet with Sue first and we will make a decision after that."
'So, if she goes tomorrow then it is maybe her final one.'
"That is quite possible, depending on how Sue feels like she can handle things. We could even discuss other options if that is necessary about her doing it not as often, but I need her to go talk to Sue before any other decision is made."
'Okay, I do understand that.'
"Okay so I will let you get back to sleep. I am heading to bed myself as we will have a house full of teenagers here by about 6:10 at the latest."
'We will wait to hear from Sue then after she meets with Jordan. If she doesn't show up tomorrow are you going to get involved or is this one on me?'
"The first one will be yours. However, after that if there is a serious issue then Sue will come to me with it. She is being given one free pass, but something concerns me. This afternoon Paul said something to one of the other boys. He said that she was a loose cannon more than he ever was. Now Paul himself is really a hot head sometimes. I will admit that, yet for him to say that he must have gotten it from her. I guess what I'm asking is do I need to notify the school that she is a potential risk to start a fight?"
'I doubt she will unless she is provoked. As for what gave Paul that idea, I think she may have opened up to him a little bit which I can only see as a good sign. But I should get some sleep. Have a good day tomorrow, Sam.'
"You as well."
With that I hung up the phone thinking about a few things. If Jordan had opened up to Paul, then it might be a good thing. I know her and Emily and Leah do get along. There is always an option to have them prepare for the bonfire together and talk during that. I could easily have Jared keep Kim busy if Jordan doesn't want her around. But that was all speculation. She might actually surprise me and go to the appointment that she has tomorrow afternoon.
Jordan's POV
I woke up the next morning pulled out my phone and looked at it. Paul had texted me last night before he went to work.
'Hope you have a good night sleep! I'll be there at 6 to pick you up. Be ready for school by then, Sam is expecting us by 6:15 for breakfast.'
I looked at the time and seen it was 5:30 am. Jumping out of bed and going to the bathroom to have a shower. When I was done, I went back into my room pulling my hair up in a ponytail. Getting dressed in a plain blue shirt and sweatshirt along with a pair of jeans. Going out to the kitchen looking at Sam. He was on his computer.
He looked up at me. "Did you sleep well?"
I nodded, before going to the cupboard pulling out the bottle putting it on the table in front of him, looking at my phone again.
Sam slowly got up as Paul came to door knocking on it. Sam looked up yelling. "It's open." When he handed me the syringe with Paul walking into the kitchen. I took it opening my mouth putting the syringe in and letting it go down my throat. Making me shiver slightly looking towards Paul.
"You ready for your first day of school?"
I nodded to him. "Yep. Though still not looking forward to Quileute or this afternoon."
Sam nodded to me. "But you need to go Jordan. I am working on getting the appointment stopped but until I can you need to go to them."
I glared at him. "I get that. Now can we go, I'm sure I'll get breakfast over at Emily's before school."
He nodded waving his hand for me. "You two are coming over for dinner, tonight right?"
I nodded. "Sure, we can. Who have you invited?"
"Wordy, Spike and Lou. I figured you'd like to be around the first time Wordy gets a hold of him. Though Rav may stop by too tonight."
"Alright, we will see you tonight."
With that Paul and I left the house getting into his truck. He smiled down at me reaching out for my hand. It was an innocent action, but it still made me feel better. I looked up at Paul for a second. "I wanted to ask Emily about her scars, would that be okay?"
Paul looked down at me, "I don't think it is a good idea. At least not while Sam is around, he gets upset when people start asking about them. It is a very touchy thing with him."
When we got to Emily's it was still fairly quiet.
I went into the kitchen and started helping Emily with breakfast. After a few minutes of shuffling things around she looked at me.
"Jordan, is everything okay?"
I shrugged. "I wanted to ask you something, but it is something that Paul said I can't ask you, at least not while Sam is here."
She came over putting a hand on my shoulder. "Whatever is on your mind if there is anything, I can do to help I will try." She paused for a second. "Do you want me to get rid of Sam for a few minutes?"
I nodded. "Please. I don't want you to kick him out of his own home though."
Emily just shook her head, walking towards the door between the living room and kitchen. When she came back, she smiled, and we continued making breakfast.
"I was wondering how long it was before you were able to stop talking about your scars?"
She just looked at me and sighed. "It wasn't long after, but I was willing to talk about them from the start. It wasn't easy though after the wolf attack being seen by society wasn't easy at all."
I nodded and went back to working on breakfast. Soon enough Leah showed up and I could hear a few of the other guys in the living room. It was a fairly quick breakfast this morning before Sam sent us all to school.
Paul looked down at me hugging me close to him. "I can't do that in the school, stupid no PDA rule."
I laughed for a second. "Oh, you can survive until at least our first break. Besides," I stood up on my toes pulling him down to me and kissing him while all the guys were standing there watching. "that should hold you over until then."
He smiled at me. "Take Seth and get to class." He pushed me towards the boy. "I'll see you at our first break, just send me a text with your locker number in it."
I nodded, smiling at Seth. "Ready to get going? I have to head to the office first to sign in."
He smiled, leading the way into the school towards the office. When I got there the secretary just looked at me.
"Can I help you miss?"
I smiled at her. "Yes, I was told I had to sign in this morning and get my locker number."
"Your name?"
"Jordan Braddock"
She typed on the computer for a second. "Do you need another schedule? And I have you signed up to see the school counsellor at noon today."
I glanced over to Seth. "I thought your mother was going to call the school." I turned to the lady again. "No, I'm fine without a schedule and as for the appointment you can cancel it."
"I'm sorry without a note from Sam Ulley or someone else from the council if you don't go to that appointment you will be suspended."
I looked at Seth again. "Do I call Sam or your mom?"
He just shrugged. "Probably better to ask Jake that question."
I thought for a second, Sam had to know about the appointment by now. "Do you have Sam's phone number?"
Seth nodded. "But he is at work. He won't have his phone on him."
"Miss Braddock, I said a note. A phone call won't do it."
I growled at her before stomping out of the office. "I need to talk to Jake and Paul, are they in the same class right now?"
Seth just shook his head. "We have to head to class ourselves. I can send a text to both of them and say that you need to see them on break."
I nodded taking a deep breath. Nothing could be done right now so why worry about it. Seth lead the way to class smiling the entire time. "Don't worry about it, Jordan everything will be fine. And this is Quileute. Have a seat right there and I'll go explain to the teacher that you are new and I'm going to help you through class for the next while."
I smiled at him.
The class itself went by really quickly. Seth started out super easy for me, and with a few laughs at the back of the room I was finally getting the hang on the language which was nice. When break came Paul was waiting at the classroom door.
"Jake is waiting outside to find out what the problem is." He looked a little grim at me. "Is everything okay?"
I nodded. "Nothing to be too concerned about. Just Seth thought that Jake might be better to answer the question that I had."
When we got outside Jake had a serious face on. "What happened Jordan?"
I gulped for a second. "You know about me going to see Sue this afternoon, right?"
Jake nodded, "What about it?"
"Well when I signed in this morning the secretary said that she had booked me an appointment to see the one at the school at noon. And without a note from Sam Ulley or someone else from the council if I don't go, I'll be suspended."
Jake nodded. "Alright. I get why Seth said I needed to be here. Don't worry about it, I'll take care of it for you alright. Still go to your appointment with Sue this afternoon." With that he walked away. Paul pulled me close to him and kissed me quickly.
"That's all we have time for with that talk. But I'll go drop you off at English then you get to have Math with Quil. Shouldn't that be fun?"
I nodded and followed him back into the school.
Jake's POV rewind
Seth's text sounded frantic. That he needed both me and Paul to meet outside for the break. This had better be a big situation. Then I remembered that Jordan was with him this morning and maybe it was something to do with her. Just before the break started, I excused myself from class explaining to Embry that I had a matter that required my attention at the moment. He nodded and wished me good luck.
When I was out in the hallway I took off on a quick walk needed to get to Paul before the break actually started.
When I got to the door of his classroom the teacher was at the front still teaching. Shit! This wasn't going to work well, but I needed Paul to meet Jordan at the classroom. When they got outside, she explained what the situation was. I reassured her that it would be fine and that she needed to get to her next class, but I would handle this.
It wasn't long before they went inside, and I went off to the woods to talk to Sam. I phased the second I reached the woods and stripped off my clothes.
'you should be in class Jacob.'
I nodded letting the conversation with Jordan play through my head letting him hear what had been said.
I could hear him huff in his mind. 'I will handle this, you did the right thing Jacob. Now get back to class and have Quil reassure her that it has been handled. I can't do it right now, but I'll have Sue call this afternoon when I get relieved out here.'
I nodded and smiled phasing back as a human. And walking towards the school. When I got into class Quil looked at me. "Everything okay?"
I nodded. "I needed to talk to Sam for a second after Seth texted me last period with a problem that is occurring with Jordan. But it should all be handled. Though I need you to do me a favour."
Quil nodded. "What is it?"
"Reassure Jordan that everything is fine and that she won't be getting suspended. Sam will take care of the situation and has been informed about it."
Quil smiled. "This is about the thing this afternoon isn't it?"
I nodded as we continued to pay attention to the teacher. When class was done Quil promised to inform Jordan that everything was going to be fine and she had nothing to worry about.
I smiled walking into my third class looking over at Leah. She was sitting there ringing her hands together which was something she only did when she was nervous.
"You okay?"
She just shook her head. "I need to leave. Get my work for me, will you?"
I nodded. "Let Sam know what is happening." I replied to her before she bolted from the classroom. Normally Leah was quite good at keeping calm but right now it appears she is having some issues with the idea, so it did worry and concern me a bit.
Jordan's POV
English was rather boring but at least it wasn't too bad. Seth stayed beside me, and we worked more on Quileute after the teacher said it was time to work on an independent study that I needed a book for which meant a trip to the public library. So, Seth explained to the teacher that I was new and would pick up a book this week for the study but until then while others were working on this could we work on some Quileute stuff from first period. The teacher agreed before Seth returned to me pulling out his picture book and we began working on it more.
Math was next and I said goodbye to Seth before Quil made it to my locker. He was all smiles and happy as him and Embry made their way down the hall.
Embry smiled before leaving explaining he would see the two of us at lunch and that Paul was currently busy getting in trouble from one of the teachers so he couldn't see me right now.
I nodded accepting his answer before continuing to class with Quil. Another period of fun we were working on area and its relationship with subtracting others. It was something that for some reason my brain seemed to understand. Quil looked at me confused.
"You actually understand this stuff?" he asked when I was working faster on problems than he was.
I nodded. "You don't?"
He just shook his head looking over at my work. "You are barely showing your work. The teacher isn't going to be happy."
I shrugged. "The answers are right. I know by certain things what some of the answers have to be by eliminating all the wrong ones. It is the nice thing about some multiple-choice things. If it was no answers provided, then I'd have to fully do it not just do it in my head and know that 3 of the answers are out to lunch."
Quil's mouth hung open. "You can't be serious."
I nodded showing him some of the work that I had done explaining his to him and why certain answers couldn't go in certain places. "See it's easy."
Quil nodded finally getting it. "Your way of doing this is much easier than I thought it would be. How did you learn how to do this?"
I shrugged. "Wordy and Spike sometimes help me with my homework back in Toronto before I moved when I'd go there during the day or after school. Both of them are really math smart and therefore they usually help with certain things."
Quil smiled as he went back to working on his work.
When the bell rang, I looked around for Paul. "Don't worry he will meet us in the cafeteria Jared and he were together this past period and frankly after the other night Sam was a little afraid that the 2 of them are alone together."
I looked at him trying to understand. "Is Paul mad at Jared about something?"
Quil half nodded. "Kinda, I mean he is upset about Kim upsetting you and yesterday when I called to get Seth over to the beach Jared was upset and mad that I didn't want him to join us too." He shrugged looking down at his books. "You see Kim wanted to apologize for the other night, but she swears she doesn't know what she did to make you run off the way you had."
We walked together into the cafeteria before Quil spotted Embry and Jake sitting at a table. We went over to join them.
"Leah went home sick, or possibly to Sam's for the afternoon. Ran out of class and everything. Not too sure what is up with that."
Quil nodded. "She was wondering if her lover boy was around yet?"
Embry laughed and Jake shook his head. "But he normally gets food first and then joins us at the table so it shouldn't be too much longer."
A minute later Kim walked into the cafeteria and walked right over to us. "Jordan, you have to tell me what happened? Jared has said no more making out until I can convince you that I am sorry for all of this that has happened."
Jake got up placing a hand on Kim's shoulder. "Kim, that's enough. Unless you want Jared working all night tonight. Can't you see you are upsetting her more?"
Tears had started coming down my cheeks very slowly but big enough for the guys to see and take notice. Embry and Quil were both glaring at Kim each equally mad at her for doing this.
Paul's POV
I had beaten the other guys with Jared to the cafeteria and gone into the line to get us some food, well get some food for me and Jordan. I had filled the tray with a few things when we were making out way back into he main part of the cafeteria.
Jake was standing with a hand on Kim's shoulder as if attempting to make her stop doing something, Jordan had her back to me but when my eyes caught Quil's all he mouthed was 'she's crying.'
My heart broke. But Jared looked furious with Kim. "I'll deal with Kim. I told her to leave Jordan alone for the day then tomorrow attempt to make things right but until it was done, we weren't making out again. I guess she didn't listen." He set the tray of food down on the table and took her hand pulling her outside after whispering something in her ear.
I walked over placing the tray of food on the table before attempting to coax Jordan to the table and handed her a pickle.
Her eyes brightened a bit as she took it and began sucking on it, sliding it in and out of her mouth very quietly.
"You okay?" I asked starting to eat some of the food I had gotten.
She nodded, taking a bite of the pickle. "Ya. What is with Kim though, I get it that she wants to make out with Jared but really I don't want to talk about this to anyone at all."
I nodded.
Jake looked at me for a second. "Jared has taken Kim back to talk to Emily and possibly discuss something with Sam concerning this. However, we have to get to class and then after gym you are heading to see Sue?" He had turned to Jordan for the last part.
Jordan nodded huffing quietly. "Seeing how I have absolutely no choice in this I guess I will be heading to there. Though I still very much disagree with everyone that this is necessary."
Jake nodded. "Quil you and Leah are heading to work. Go see if she is at Sam's as I suspect that is where she took off to earlier."
We all nodded. I pulled Jordan to her feet, glancing over at Embry. "We will meet you at the front of the gym in a few minutes." He nodded grabbing his stuff and leaving.
With that we started walking to her locker when the guidance counsellor showed up. "Mr. Walker how nice to see you trying to get to class on time for a change."
I nodded. "Just going to help Jordan here find the gym then I'll be off to class if you will excuse us."
"Actually, I can show her the way. I wish to have a word with Ms. Braddock before her gym class. So, you can run along."
I glanced down at her. "You'll be fine. If something has gone wrong send me a text. I'm with Jake this period anyway."
Jordan nodded finishing grabbing her clothes for gym class. "I'll see you after gym before the appointment?"
I nodded. "For sure, just ask Embry to bring you to my locker."
She smiled, squeezing my hand a little before looking at the counsellor. "What do you want?"
I walked away realizing that she could more than likely handle herself and she wasn't fighting me really about going to go see Sue finally.
Jordan's POV
I glared at the counsellor. "What do you want?"
"You missed the appointment with me at noon."
"I have one with a different counsellor this afternoon, Sue Clearwater. Perhaps you know her?"
The lady just glared at me. "Hanging out with Paul and that crew will only land you into trouble young lady." She took a steadying breath. "And yes, I knew about the appointment with Sue. However, I was hoping that I could convince you to reconsider that decision."
I simply shook my head walking towards the gym. "I'm sorry, but for some reason Paul seems to think Sue was a better choice for me to be seeing. And I do happen to trust his judgement. So, if you don't mind and that is all I really do have to get to class."
I waited for a few seconds and when she didn't say anything then I walked to the door of the changerooms and looked at Embry who was standing there. "Care to show me where I can change for class and then we can have some fun?"
He nodded leading me to a room with only 2 other girls.
