Sam Braddock POV

Spike had agreed to stay with me and talk to Sam and Paul when they got here. It was painful waiting though it was nice that Jordan managed to stay calm. Though what got me is that we had spoken to Sue explained what would set her off, but that was the only thing I could think of. Which is why I was happy that Paul was coming he might be able to shed some light on to what happened. After the phone call from Sam I felt bad. I think I was just stressing, and I did hope that Sam would understand the way I had acted to him over the phone.

The knock on the door caught me off guard and Spike got up to answer it. Inviting them inside leading them into the living room.

"How is Jordan?" Paul asked looking at me.

"She is alright, if you want you can go check on her. She was sleeping soundly half hour ago."

Paul got up walking down the hallway putting his ear to the door and just stood there for a few minutes before returning to us. "She is sleeping soundly, which is making me happy to hear that." He sat down on the couch beside Sam.

Sam glanced at Paul for a second then back to me. "Can I ask who that is?"

Spike smiled. "My name is Michael Scarlatti, or most people call me Spike."

Sam nodded. "Alright. So, Paul said you needed to talk to me, Sam. What is this about?"

I sat up looking at him. "After we give Jordan these meds there are some issues that arise, and these issues will cause problems at school tomorrow."

Sam nodded. "Alright." He hesitated a little looking between Spike and me. "What are these issues that happen?"

I took a deep breath. "First of all, she will be very argumentative in the school. Anyone tells her not to do anything she will argue with them." I glanced at Paul. "And this no PDA rule will be blown all to hell as she will want to kiss and snuggle and hug. She likes the feeling of someone hugging her sometimes and this will be a time that it will be extremely high." I turned my attention back to Sam. "Then there is gym class I fear what will happen in there with the argumentativeness you will also have her being extremely competitive. And although some students might be able to challenge her in the class not everyone will."

Sam didn't look so happy with this. "All this because of one drug?" He took a steadying breath before continuing. "The PDA is going to be the biggest thing so far. Though her arguing with teachers or even Mr. Green might be a problem."

I put my hand up. "Unfortunately, this isn't all of it. Anything that she struggled with will become almost impossible for her. And we will have to watch her all day for risk of self-harm. Though the risk of that is rare and it has only happened once."

Sam nodded. "Do we know what happened to cause this night terror to happen to her?"

I glanced at him for a split second. "Unfortunately, I think it might have been her appointment with Sue that did it. Though I talked with Sue and explained the things that would have set her off and she promised me that it wouldn't have happened."

He shook his head at both me and Spike, Paul was looking at the floor. "Sadly, I was informed this afternoon that Jordan never showed up to her appointment. She was spotted at the beach though if there is any help there."

My mouth hung open. "She didn't go to her appointment." I placed my head into my hands for a second before someone clapped. When I brought my head up everyone was looking at Paul.

"I'm sorry Sam, for not mentioning this before." He glanced at Sam and then turned back to me. "But when we were going to her locker and I was going to show her to her gym class Miss Julie came up and asked to talk to Jordan. She told me she'd be fine, and she seemed fine after her gym class."

I glanced at the two of them looking confused, but Spike voiced it before I could. "Who is Miss Julie?"

Sam grimaced, "School guidance counsellor. I had contacted the school and told them that Jordan wasn't to be approached or spoken to by her. That she had an appointment with another counsellor on the reservation who was acceptable. Now I see she didn't listen."

I shook my head. "She could have said something that would have triggered Jordan. She may have felt okay until it finally sunk in probably when she was at the beach."

"I can keep her at my house for most of tomorrow." Sam sighed. "I have an idea. We can let her go to math class and then Paul can come and join her for the final 2 periods. That way we can make sure she stays safe. Also, one of us can take her to the public library in Forks to get a book for her independent study for English and she can start on that."

I nodded. "Did you want me to do something about her skipping the appointment when she wakes up in the morning?"

Sam shook his head. "Actually, hold off on that. Sue is going to call you in the morning, and I think she has a plan to come over and be here when Jordan gets home from school. Do the introduction then and she has an opening for an appointment that I am hoping Jordan is a little more willing to attend, yet I do believe that she has a plan to have Paul walk her to the appointment."

I nodded turning to Paul. "Are you okay with doing that?" I didn't want to take it for granted that he would just do as was asked.

Paul nodded. "Not a problem. In fact, I have a pretty good idea I know when she is thinking of the appointment being."

Sam stood. "It is the one you are thinking of." He turned to me. "I will inform Jordan in the morning that she is staying at my place for 90% of the day. If she doesn't want to go to math, then I won't push her from what I heard she is doing rather well in that class as it is. Don't worry about any homework that doesn't get done in the morning before class I'll take care of that. Also, I'll have a word with Mr. Green concerning his staff not listening to Council rules. This entire thing could have probably been prevented if she had listened." He turned to Paul. "You will be at the house at 6 am with Jordan."

Paul nodded to him before turning to me. "Is there anything else?"

I thought for a second shaking my head. "Not that I can think of that needs to be discussed with Sam right now." I paused for a moment. "What happens if something goes wrong at this meeting with Jordan whenever it is set up for?"

Sam huffed. "Depends on Sue's recommendation. Worst case is the rest of the council gets involved and she is taken from class and any other social event until she has a good session with her. Though I will do my best to make sure that doesn't happen. Best-case would-be Jordan actually opens up to Sue during the meeting which would be awesome. Yet seeing how she skipped today's which was just supposed to be an introduction I am betting I will get a phone call Wednesday afternoon to discuss this."

I gulped. "So, you are expecting something in the middle then?"

He nodded. "Pretty much. I have asked Paul to discuss the issues that can arise if the council is called together to discuss missing counselling appointments. As he has been on the wrong side of it before and with his relationship with Jordan, I think he can do a wonderful job at it."

I looked over at Paul who was looking sheepish. "Alright. I am guessing you probably want to get home and get some sleep especially if you have to be dealing with Jordan all day tomorrow. How will you convince her to come here for dinner?"

Paul spoke up. "We were supposed to have a group dinner tonight is there anyway we can do it tomorrow night instead. I mean I don't know if you guys all ate everything that was prepared?"

I nodded. "Actually, we did eat it all, but we can just as easy order in pizza which she does like just as much and plus if I am home, she has no real reason to go over to Sam's place."

Sam nodded. "Okay. Well I'm heading home and to bed. Paul in the morning if you want to get there a bit early, we can discuss it before everyone else gets there."

Paul nodded to him. "Sounds good."

With that Sam left. Spike went to the spare room located next to Jordan's and Paul settled on the couch despite me offering him the other bed in the spare room. He declared that in the living room I could hear anything which kept him and Jordan honest. I laughed for a few seconds before retiring to bed myself for the night.

Paul's POV

Sleeping on the couch was alright. At 5 am Jordan came in and started kissing me. Though it was a wonderful way to wake up in the morning I didn't know what to think about it. She just giggled and pulled away before looking at me then at the couch.

"After last night I didn't want to leave you alone. So, your dad said I could sleep here though he even offered me the other bed in the spare room if I wanted it."

She just smiled and then walked toward the kitchen. There was no one there which surprised me. "Your dad and Spike not up yet?"

She just shook her head. Okay that explained why she wasn't talking yet. She pulled out her phone, typing into it. Before a mechanical voice said. "Can we go for a run together?"

I glanced at the clock. "It's 5:15 am. We are expected at Sam's by 6 at the latest."

She gasped before glancing at her phone and typing a message to someone. Grabbing my hand and pulling me to the door beside her room banging on the door. Pointing to me and then to the door waving her hands in a go in there, motion before disappearing into her room and then into the bathroom with a change of clothes for the day.

A second later Spike came to the door. "Paul, did you need something?" He scratched the back of his head confused.

"I think Jordan wants her meds this morning. I'm pretty sure she sent a message to Sam to get him to give them to her thought."

Spike shook his head. "Sam got called out on a call at 1:30 this morning, and I don't know how to give them to her. I'll call Lou though and he can come and do it."

I heard the shower stop in the bathroom and a few seconds later the heat lamp be turned on probably heating up the small space. Before she came out and was towel drying her hair. Spike turned to her with a grim expression. "Jordan, Sam got a call at 1:30 this morning. You have your choice either Wordy or Lou can come and give you the medication."

Jordan just pointed to Spike before braiding her hair in a tight French braid. I began pouting as I watched her do this. Her eyes narrowed slightly at me.

"I like running my fingers through your hair and when it is up like that I can't do." I pouted again as the front door opened.

She just pushed past me going out to the kitchen, where Lou was getting it ready for her. He glanced at me and then back at her as she stuck her hand out for the syringe.

"You'll take it in front of him?" he said looking at me again. "Normally you won't."

She smacked her hand down on the counter glaring up at him holding out her hand. When he placed it in her hand, she put it into her mouth emptying it completely and shivering after for a second.

"Good to go now?" I asked her with a smile.

"Yep. She is all good now." Lou looked at me. "But tonight, Wordy gets to have a word with you but I guess cause, you brought cookies for Spike yesterday we can't hold you at the station for hours and hours on Friday."

Jordan glanced at me before giggling. "Well sucks to be all of you guys. But I'll go grab my bag and then we can go. With it raining out can we take your truck to Sam's this morning?"

I nodded. "Yes, we can take the truck. But I think you are forgetting your school bag."

Jordan gasped taking off for her bedroom. "This means Paul can show up at the station at 11:30 and you guys can't keep us there any longer than noon." She turned to me with a smile. "Though I looked for more of those cookies yesterday morning and I couldn't find any of them, did Emily have them all hidden away from us?"

I nodded. "She had put some away for her and Sam to share but I bargained with her to get her to give them to me. Which means you don't get me on Sunday. I had to take Sam's shift at work."

She pushed me towards the door waving bye to the two men in the kitchen making themselves breakfast. I hadn't even heard Sam leave this morning, but the situation must have been a big one to call him out in the middle of the night. The drive to Sam's was fast but when we got there, she placed a hand on my leg holding me in place.

"I wanted to ask you something and it was something that I didn't want to ask in front of Spike and Lou at home."

I nodded, glancing up at Sam who was standing at the front door. It was 5:45am so we were early enough for him to talk to Jordan. "What is it?"

"What happened last night, I know it scared you. I could hear it in your voice when you were asking what was wrong. But is this going to end our friendship?"

I shook my head pulling her into a hug. "No. Well actually hell no. This isn't ending anything for us. Yes, it did scare me. But Jordan can't you feel how perfect we are for each other? That isn't going to scare me away from you. Your dad, Spike, and Lou explained that it has scared some guys off before, but we are stronger than that. No way is some little night terror going to scare me away." I gave her a bright goofy smile.

"Alright, let's get inside. I'm sure Emily needs help in the kitchen making the million pounds of pancakes, eggs, sausages and toast you guys eat." She giggled, hopping out of the truck jogging towards the door, looking up at Sam before walking through the door.

"She wants to go help Emily make breakfast." I explained to him, though he could hear every word that was said in the truck though Jordan didn't know that. If she had she may have asked me the question when we were over at her place.

He glanced at her. "Jordan, Emily is fine for right now. We need to have a conversation, about today and last night."

She paled looking at him. "You know about last night?"

He nodded to her. "Have a seat please." He pointed to the double chair. "You can stay with her Paul. I think that will make her a little more comfortable to say the least."

I nodded pulling her to the chair with me. Instantly she snuggled into my body, almost sitting on top of me when we went to sit in the chair. But with one quick move I had her sitting beside me and her snuggled ultra-close. Sam had been right she was snuggly today.

"Jordan, your father called me over last night to discuss what was going to happen with you today and hoping I had a plan to help it out. So, what is going to happen is for the first 2 periods you are going to stay here. Well we hopefully can get a list of possible books for the independent study and you can go the library with Emily to pick one out. Then for math class Quil has requested you go with him. For lunch you can come back here, and the final 2 periods Paul can join you here for them."

Jordan glanced at me biting her fingernails, very gently I pulled her hand away from her mouth holding it. "What don't you like about the plan?"

She looked straight at Sam. "I don't think it will be a good idea to go to math class. I mean I understand what we are doing but I doubt it is a good idea to be going. But can we make a final decision right before class?"

Sam nodded. "I can accept that." He sat down in the chair across from us. "Now Jordan, I don't know if you can figure this out, but do you know what set everything off yesterday. Your dad said he explained to Sue what would set it off and so she would know what not to do."

She closed her eyes. "I had a bit of a warning type thing happen on the walk to the appointment, but I had never gotten one before, so I just pushed it away. Normally they don't come with a preparation warning, so I wasn't exactly too sure what to do about everything. If I had to take a guess, I would say possibly something over lunch or after that, but I honestly don't know. Sorry."

He nodded to us. "I will inform Quil that you aren't joining him for math class probably. I had informed your dad that if you didn't feel comfortable going that I wouldn't force the issue at all. I'd rather you stay here and be safe. Though I am going to have to slip into the school, I need to have a word with the principal. I need one more thing from you, though."

Jordan nodded. "What is that?"

"Paul informed me us that the counsellor came up to speak to you yesterday before gym class. Do you remember any of what was said during that conversation?"

Jordan nodded, playing with her fingers. "She asked me to switch counsellors, I told her that Paul had found me this one, and who it was. That the choice was better, and I was trusting Paul's decision on this right now. Then she went on to tell me that hanging out with Paul and the gang here will land me in trouble."

Sam nodded, a growl slipping from his lips. "Go help Emily, I'm sure she could use it." He waved her off to the kitchen after she gave me a good deep kiss, just as Kim and Jared walked through the door.

Kim groaned. "You beat us." She pouted looking up at Jared. "Just one little kiss please?"

Jared shook his head. "You took too long getting ready this morning. Now you pay the price for it, maybe next time Paul gives you a way out you will consider trying to be faster. Now go help Emily and leave Jordan alone."

I looked over at Sam who was grinding his teeth. "What is the problem?"

He just shook his head. "Kim stay here. I don't want to risk anything happening in the kitchen." He turned to me and Jared. "When Jake gets here this morning have him wait around for me, I need a word with him. But right now, I need to go have a word with Mr. Green."

With that he left, going to his car and driving off. Emily came out from the kitchen looking at all of us before glancing at the door. "Where has Sam gone? Breakfast is almost ready."

"To talk to Mr. Green, I'm sure he will be back soon Emily. Just save him some breakfast." I looked up at her. "I wouldn't worry about it too much. It might just be to get a list of possible independent study books for Jordan to choose from."

She nodded returning to the kitchen.

Sam's POV

The drive to the school was fast, I needed a word with the principal face to face especially knowing that Miss Julie would also be there. When I pulled into the parking lot Johanna was there stretching, she ran over waving to me. "Hey Sam."

I nodded to her. "Hi Johanna, getting ready for a soccer practice?"

She nodded. "Aren't I normally doing that? The new girl that has been hanging out with Paul, she is in my English class. So, if Seth is ever not there, I can always be there for her."

I nodded and smiled at her. "That is very nice of you. Now I believe your coach is calling all you guys together. You best be going."

She nodded and waved before running off to her practice. I headed for the school and the principal's office. I had been called there a few times because of the students however this was a different kind of visit. The secretary looked at me.

"Mr. Ulley, I wasn't expecting you in today. Is something wrong?"

Well shit, if everything was okay, I would be at home right now with my pack and wife, unfortunately I am now stuck here to discuss this issue. "Yes, Hannah, something is very wrong. Is Mr. Green in his office right now?"

She nodded to me gesturing the way. "Go ahead."

I nodded making my way to the door, before turning. "Hannah, can you ask Miss Julie to join us please I think she needs to be present for this meeting."

Hannah nodded. "Of course." Before picking up her phone and dialing.

Mr. Green was an older man, but he knew the authority of my status. He had even used it on occasion when it came to Embry and Paul. For the most part though he was a very helpful man.

"Sam," He looked up at me motioning to a seat. "I take it something horrible has happened."

I nodded taking a seat. "Yesterday when I was here, Miss Julie was informed to leave Miss Braddock alone and not to approach her, correct?"

The woman wore enough perfume that I could smell her and knew she had heard my question that I had asked. She came in shutting the door having a seat in the other chair.

Mr. Green looked at her. "Andrea, you were informed of this were you not?"

She nodded. "I was informed of it, yes."

I turned to her. "Then why did you approach her?" She went to open her mouth as she paled before I stopped her. "Don't even try to lie and say that you didn't. I have Paul telling me that you did as well as Jordan knows as well."

She nodded. "It is just that I thought if I could convince her to come and see me instead of going off to see Sue it would work out better. Someone outside of her group of friends."

Mr. Green glared at her. "You were ordered to not approach her, told to not approach anyone in that group at all. Why were you talking to her?"

"She looked so innocent."

I almost growled at her. "Innocent looking or not. She won't be in school today because something you said to her caused a serious problem at home. When I demand that you leave a student alone you will do so."

I stood up glaring at her. As she glanced up at me. "Sam, I am sorry for whatever I did. You never gave a reason why I couldn't talk to her."

"She had a counselling session set up that is all you were required to know, Andrea. Beyond that is none of your concern or business."

I turned to Mr. Green. "Is her English teacher in yet?"

Mr. Green looked at his computer. "She should be, did you need something?"

I nodded. "Can you page her to the office?"

He nodded getting on the phone and speaking quietly. "She will be here in a second." He turned to Andrea. "You can go back to your office. But for future reference if Mr. Ulley tells you to leave a student alone there is generally a good reason for it."

A young woman knocked on the door. "You needed me Mr. Green?"

He pointed at me. "Sam Ulley has a question for you."

I nodded leading her out of the office and into the hallway. "You have a new student in your class named Jordan Braddock. She won't be in class today however if you have a list of books that are acceptable for the independent study then Emily or I will make sure she gets one today so she can start it."

She nodded. "Can you follow me to the classroom. I have the entire thing outlined and everything she will need that. Though I suspect the way you are talking that she won't be in class today?"

I nodded following her. "No, she had an issue at home last night. Nothing big but we suspected that it might be best if she stays at home today instead of coming into class."

She handed me a booklet, "All the instructions as well as the requirements for the book. If you wish while you are in the library, you can text me the titles and I'll give you an immediate yes or no if that would make it easier for you?"

I nodded. "Just put your phone number on a sticky note on the booklet. She should be going while you have her class in here."

She nodded. "I hope she is feeling better or whatever is keeping her from class has stopped so she can attend the debate we are having tomorrow. Oh shoot." She shuffled through some papers on the desk before grabbing 6 of them and stapling them together. "Here is the work for today. It discusses the debate. I've put her on either side along with Seth as the 2 of them seem to know each other."

I smiled. "Thanks for this. I will make sure she gets it done." With that I left heading to my car as the parking lot would be filling up very soon.

I walked into the house to find Jordan sitting there at the kitchen table eating grapes working on her homework from last time. Jake was in living room. I put her work on the table before walking into the living room. "I need you to do me a favour for rest of the week."

He nodded to me, "what is it?"

"Watch over Jordan, Paul, well really everyone. Miss Julie is not to approach anyone in the pack at all period."

He nodded. "I should get to class." He turned to the door. "Oh, by the way, I told Quil that Jordan wasn't coming to math class and he said he wanted to skip and come join Jordan for it. Something about Jordan being able to explain it better than the teacher can. I told him you'd text him if it was okay for him to skip the class."

I nodded to him. "Get to class. Tell Quil he can stay at school. Jordan can help him over lunch if he desperate for help."

Jake nodded, going to kitchen. I can him tell Jordan that I was back and her telling him that she doesn't care she was trying to do her schoolwork and to leave her alone. This made me smile a bit because she was actually concentrating on her schoolwork. It was nice, but I did need to pull her attention away from her work for a minute.

Emily was working on lunch in there when I walked in, Jordan was happily sitting working through her chemistry booklet. I took a seat at the table looking over at Emily.

"Ready to finally eat breakfast?"

I nodded. "I'm sorry for running out I had to talk to someone at the school."

She nodded putting a plate in front of me. Jordan looked up at me, "So you are really back from wherever you ran off to."

I nodded. "There is a list of books there that are examples of what you can do for your independent study for English."

She took the papers looking at them. "If I give you a list of books for you to find. You pretty much just have to find one. I'll make sure they all follow these rules, can you just go to the library for me. I have so much work to get done. Especially if no one will be helping me with this Quileute work," She took a breath for a second. "Oh, speaking of that. Seth said he was going to give some work for me today for Quileute to you before he ran off to work."

I nodded. "Yes, he dropped it off this morning before starting work. So, whenever you are ready for it let me know and I'll give it to you. But if you don't get to it don't worry about it."

She nodded. "Alright. Probably be this afternoon. I want to finish this chemistry and history first. Kind of do my day backwards okay?"

I nodded. "Get me that list and I'll take it to the library and make sure it is okay with the teacher as well when I pick it up."

She nodded grabbing the page and writing 8 titles down on it. Before going back to her chemistry work.

Emily continued with lunch before looking at me. "Sue called she was going to go over to see Sam this morning. She had called him to discuss it first. But she asked if you'd call when you got home from your running around."

I nodded going into the living room. Pulling out my cellphone dialing the number for Sue. "Sue, Emily said you wanted to talk to me."

'Yes, I was going to go see Sam Braddock and I was hoping you'd be there just to give your okay with this idea. So, I was hoping you'd be able to slip away from Jordan without having a huge issue with her.'

"Of course, I have to go out to the library anyway, so I'll slip the list into them and then be over to see what is happening."

'Sounds good. I'll head over there right now."

With that we both hung up. I walked back into the kitchen, "I'm heading out to the library and then going to deal with this. Don't wait lunch for me, but if Quil shows up here for lunch she can help him with the math."

Jordan looked up at me. "Is Paul coming for lunch?"

I shrugged. "I'm not sure, he might be. Are you doing your work for today in that too?"

Jordan nodded. "Thought I might as well do it."

Smiling. "Alright. I'll be back later. Be good."

With that I walked out going to my car getting in. First was to drop this list off at the library. Then it was to the Braddock household to talk to Sam and Sue.
