Jordan's POV
When we got to math class, I looked at Quil. "Where was Paul? He usually meets me between classes, and I haven't seen him since he left me at Quileute first period."
Quil looked at me as he led me to the back table. "He has gone out to do something for Sam, he will be here by the time he is to take you to your meeting."
I giggled. "Maybe he is working on getting me that picture of the wolf that he said he would try to get me a picture of."
Quil looked at me. "What wolf might that be?"
"I seen on when I was at the beach on Monday when I was supposed to be at my appointment." I looked up the teacher as she came by with 6 pages of work for the day.
Quil glanced at the work. "Shit. Six pages, Jordan this is going to be impossible."
"Mr. Altera, language. As for that work it is for the next 2 days. As tomorrow we won't be having normal class as I won't be here. So, you will get 3 more sheets tomorrow from the office, but they have to all be done by Monday's class." The teacher spoke from the front of the class.
I smiled at Quil. "Don't worry. We have all weekend to do 9 pages. I promise it won't be that hard to get it all done. Plus, I am sure we can find some time to do some math work over the weekend." I glanced down at the pages. They were fairly easy basically the same thing over and over again.
Quil groans beside me. "Help me." He glanced up at the clock, then at his phone. "Actually, too late. I know it is early, but Paul is back and if you are ready to go, then he can talk you to go see Sue now. Sam has cleared it with the school."
I nodded. "Okay, then I should go. It seems Paul wants to get going. So, whenever he gets here, I will leave and go with him."
When Paul showed up at the back door with a goofy grin on his face, I glanced at Quil. "Ya, I know go get your love bird partner."
When I was out the door of the classroom I glanced at my phone. "It is a little bit early to be picking me up from class isn't it, Paul?"
He smiled down at me. "I thought we could go to the beach for a few minutes before I take you to meet up with Sue. I mean if you want to, I know it might make you feel better?"
I nodded smiling up at him. "That would make me feel a lot better, at least it would be great to get some quiet time before that crazy one."
We walked to his truck holding hands as soon as we got outside. "You don't like this no PDA rule do you at the school?"
I shook my head. "No, it totally sucks. Then not being able to see you really this morning Quil said you were on an errand for Sam between the classes."
He nodded. "Ya. It was necessary plus it meant I could pick up my truck so we could make this little detour on our way to the appointment. Plus, it allowed me to be there to find out that you were only getting sheets of work from your math teacher so you could leave a little bit earlier than we had originally planned."
When we got to the beach it had a few people on it. I put my hand on his knee. "Can we stay in the truck, please?"
"Why?" He sounded concerned. "I thought you would have wanted to walk the beach."
I shook my head. "I mean I did want to, but I'd like it to be just the two of us. So many people means there is no chance for us to get to see the wolf."
He laughed. "The wolf won't be around right now. But Sam is working really hard to try and get you a picture of the wolf. But I was meaning to ask why do you want one?"
I shrugged. "Honestly, I don't know. I mean part of me is being pulled to wolves for years. I mean it was a wolf that saved me last time."
Paul looked at me, before returning to look out the front windshield. "Isn't that Wordy?"
I glanced up. "Ya, did you want to go meet his wife?"
He nodded. "Let's go meet her." He got out of the truck before pulling me out the driver side along with him. Pulling me over to Sheela and Nicole and Wordy.
"Jordan," Nicole shrieked putting her arms up to me. "Uppie please."
I picked her up. "How are you doing? You like having the days off with your mom?"
She nodded. "We went to the park the other day. And today we came to the beach. Who is that? You aren't in school?"
"This is Paul, he is a friend of mine." I glanced at Wordy.
"You should be in class or at your appointment." He glanced towards Paul. "And you promised her father, Sam Ulley and Sue that you'd get her there on time."
Paul gapped. "We left school a little early with the permission of Sam Ulley and her teacher. I thought a trip to the beach might help with the appointment."
I glanced at Wordy, "Stop worrying everything is fine. We are just going to talk for a few minutes then we will get to the appointment." I put Nicole down. "You run along with your mom and dad and play, let Paul and I have a few minutes here at the beach."
We walked over to the rock and sat down and snuggled for a few seconds before it happened. The shiver down my spine leading to my eyes becoming a deep purple as they focused on the wooded area right near us.
Paul's POV
We were just snuggling there when I seen Jordan's eyes go from the green to a deep purple it was a shade that I hadn't seen before and for that I was grateful that Wordy was still on the beach with his family. When I yelled over to him asking him to come here trying to keep my voice calm when I felt anything but.
Wordy ran over trying to force Jordan to look at him when a growl left her lips. Though I do not know what she actually seen. When I looked at her and kept asking what she see it was as if she didn't know what we were saying to her.
"She is not able to talk," but before I could ask, he continued. "No, it isn't like the morning she is completely physically capable it is just her body won't. Give me a few seconds and I'll get someone here who can help us communicate with her." With that he was on the phone, and even though I tried to not listen I still could hear.
"Is there danger over there is that why she is so focused on there?" I asked Wordy.
"Honestly it could be anything, no way to know for sure what it was that caught her attention and forced her eyes that colour but she wants it to stay there and so she is holding whatever it is there with her eyes. But it is taking a lot of focus and effort."
"What will happen if that stays there. Will it eventually drain her?"
He shook his head "No, it can't. She will just get irritable very easily for the rest of the day, no big concern really." He thought for a second. "You said that you and some of the other guys patrol the reservation?"
I nodded to him. "There should be 2 patrolling right now."
"Any chance you can get them to go check that out. I don't know if you can make a phone call or something."
I nodded pulling out my cellphone. "I have to get away from Jordan for a few minutes, but I'll get some of the guys there to check it out." I walked away running towards the woods closest to us, praying that the howl wouldn't draw the attention of whatever it is in there that Jordan could see. When I phased I was joined by Jared, Quil, Jake and Sam.
We were at the beach, but Jordan sees something in the woods across from where we are sitting. Not sure what it is though.
Jared snarled. 'We'll check it out.'
When I phased back and got back to Jordan, she snuggled up to me. Though her eyes never left the thing in the woods across the beach from us.
Rav showed up looking at me. "What seems to be the issue?"
Wordy looked at him. "She's gone into defensive mode. Her eyes haven't moved, and she isn't responding to us at all."
Rav nodded. "Alright." He swiped his hand along hers and placed his hand in hers as she began to touch and brush his hand. "She said he is there. Is that the He I think it is?"
I nodded. "I suspect it is." As her hand started moving again against his.
"Wolves, he's gone." He tapped on her hand as he spoke. "Wolves, gone as in dead?"
She nodded sagging into me. Blinking a few times bringing her eyes back to their normal green, smiling up at me as if nothing had happened. She pulled her phone out of her pocket. "Shouldn't we be going? I mean if we are supposed to be there at 12."
I nodded to her, "Of course. Let's get going. I'll go see Emily about getting you some lunch for you to eat during class this afternoon."
I for sure had wanted to stay and talk to Wordy and Rav about what had happened with her exactly but that was going to have to wait. And what exactly wad defensive mode. When we pulled into Sue's driveway, she glanced up at me.
"Do I have to go to the appointment?" Giving me the cutest looking puppy eyes, I had ever seen.
"Yes, you do need to go to the appointment. I already got told off once today because of it and I really don't want to be told off by Sam and your father about not getting you to this on time."
She huffed as I walked her to the door. "Fine, but I'm doing it under protest." She crossed her arms over her chest just pouting as I knocked on the door.
When Sue answered she smiled. "Jordan, it's great to see you, come on in." She smiled at me as I pushed Jordan into the house. Before turning her around and giving her a kiss on the lips.
"Behave yourself. You don't want anything to happen to prevent our plans on Friday. I mean after all Jared and I spent part of the morning planning it."
I smiled before taking off for my truck. I wanted to get to Sam and tell him she had seen the wolves take out the vampire. Though no one seemed to know he was a vampire. Though I don't know how they couldn't see unless he was able to act human when they were around him.
Getting to Sam's from Sue's didn't take too long and when I got to the living room in the house Sam was sitting there just waiting. "How did you know it was there?"
"Jordan seen him. Dunno how I couldn't see him even from where I was sitting. But she seen you guys take him out."
He nodded to me. "The threat is gone to your imprint, and damn good thing too. I hear she didn't like the rules imposed on her this morning."
Nodding back to him and settling into my chair as Emily finished making lunch. "She did. Though Jake dealt with her fairly well, so I'm pleased with that. She is over at Sue's right now, not that she really wants to be there anyway."
Sam smiled. "Did you want me to do anything about her not listening to the rules I set out? Or are you pleased enough with what Jake did?"
I shrugged, the last thing I wanted was for my imprint to be in serious trouble with Sam, but it might ultimately be a good thing for everyone. "Maybe after I find out exactly what Jake said to her. I don't know that myself as to what went on. Nor have I attempted to confront her about it myself."
Emily called from the kitchen. "Okay, boys, lunch is ready. And I have some Jordan all made up."
Sam and I walked to the kitchen, grabbing some of the chicken salad and sandwiches that were sitting there. "I hope she is doing okay with Sue."
Sam nodded. "If there is a problem Sue will contact me and we will discuss it later today. You have my word that I will try to make sure that the full council doesn't get called this time."
I nodded. "I am going to go have a word with Jake before I head over there to pick her up."
He nodded pointed to the back porch. "He's been on the back porch for the past few minutes wanting to talk to you."
I joined Jake on the porch looking out to the woods. "Thanks for getting that vampire."
He nodded. "No problem. But why do get the idea that you wanted to talk about something else with me?"
Laughing and turning to him. "You know me too well. I was wondering what exactly went down between you and Jordan during English class?"
He turned a grim face to me. "She told Seth she didn't need anyone to go with her. But Seth sent a text to Embry. It was just luck that I was with him because I doubt, she would have listened to Embry if he had tried to talk to her about it."
I looked confused at him. "What makes you say that?"
"You know very well that I am the bloodline descendant of Ephram Black and the leader of the pack if I wanted it." He waited for me to nod. It was no secret that Jake should have taken over for Sam when he joined the pack. "Well I had to use some of my alpha powers, definitely the alpha voice which she did surprisingly react to. Though I have no clue what that means. I mean Emily and Kim don't react to it at all, but she did similarly to the way Leah does." He placed a hand on shoulder. "We will keep a closer eye on her, but for the time being I suggest that we don't loosen the rules because she needs someone around her at all times. Which is why Quil is outside Sue's house in the woods and out of site."
I nodded. "I get it. But I should go check on her anyway. I'm sure she is getting hungry, having any luck getting her that picture of Quil in his wolf form?"
He laughed. "Ya, but he won't stay still long enough for me to get it off. All I got last time is his tail."
(Rewind)
Jordan's POV
Paul left me with Sue at the house. I turned around glancing around the room at anything but Sue or what she was doing. I was glancing at the kitchen when she finally spoke to me.
"Jordan, why don't you come into my office and we can have a seat and a chat?"
I groaned. "We can't just talk out here in the living room?"
She shook her head coming over to me. I grumbled and walked with her to her office which was set up like a normal counselling office. I slumped into the chair.
"So how is school going?" She asked taking a seat in the other chair grabbing a pad of paper and pen on her lap.
I grunted. "Fine." I glanced around the room glaring at the floor for long moments.
"So, you don't like being here?"
Shaking my head.
She wrote something down on the pad of paper before tapping her pen against it. "Is there something you want to talk about with me?"
I shook my head again glancing out the window.
Her eyes focused on me for long moments before she looked away. "You would prefer to do this in my living room?"
I nodded. "Sure."
"Why?"
I shrugged. I didn't really want to talk to her about these things. I didn't want to talk to anyone. The best idea I could come up with was to stall this meeting as long as possible until Paul finally arrived to pick me up and take me back to school.
"You don't know why, or do you simply not want to tell me?"
I shrugged again. I was a master at playing this game and she was about to learn just how good I am at it.
"Are you going to answer any of my question?" She simply huffed at me. "Jordan for this to work you need to actually talk to me."
I shrugged. Pulling out my phone looking at the time just as I heard a truck pull into the driveway. "Look Paul is here to pick me up." I smiled leaving the room.
Sue followed me to the door and when Paul made it there, I swung it open hugging him.
"Did you behave?" He glared at me.
I nodded. "Of course, I did. Now can we get to school. I want to eat lunch I'm starving."
As we were leaving, I seen Sue shake her head and pull out her cell phone dialing on it before putting it up to her ear.
When we got to school, Paul put a hand on my leg. "We need to talk about something!"
I nodded. "What's on your mind?" I asked cheerfully.
"Why did you leave English class without someone with you after Sam specifically told you not to do that?"
I huffed. "Not you too. I told Jake why this morning already. Seth was going to call Jared, and his sister started giggling about him having to take me to the washroom. Do you know how embarrassing that is for someone?"
Paul nodded. "Would you have let him text anyone else?"
I stopped for a second, thinking. "If he had suggested someone else a little more discreetly maybe. I mean Embry or Quil or even you would have been fine."
He smiled. "Okay. As punishment for you not listening you are under orders to have someone with you constantly at all times. If you have to go to the washroom you will be escorted from the classroom to there and then back again. This will be happening for the next few days or until Sam and Jake determine you are capable of following the rules."
I groaned. "Fine but does Leah count for this too. I mean she would be awesome to hang out with a bit more?"
Paul laughed. "Yes, she does. In fact, for history class she is the one who has been assigned to take you. She will be setting up shop just outside your classroom so you better text her first just like anyone else you are to have escort you."
I groaned. "If you insist. But I hope this means our plans for Friday are still on."
He pulled me out of the truck and onto his arms kissing me deeply just as a groan happened behind us from someone. "Would you two please get a room?" He laughed. "Come on Jordan we have to get to class, health class" he gagged. "It is more boring then watching you and Paul make out."
Jared laughed for a second as he and Paul took off just as Paul gave me one last squeeze on my hand before taking off to the school and down the hallway to his locker.
