B'Elanna sat on the back patio of her in-laws' house, watching Miral play with her cousins. B'Elanna felt her son kick her, she placed a hand on her round belly to feel him and smiled. He was growing and in a few months he would be here. She thought that they would have their own place by now, but they were still living with Tom's parents. She wanted to bring their son home to their home not to her in-laws. B'Elanna sighed. Tom's parents have been understanding with why they left space and wanted to settle down on Earth.
B'Elanna was almost done with her degree and ready to start on her master's, she wanted her own space to study. She also wanted a bigger bedroom. Tom and she were sharing his old childhood room. They were both sleeping on a full-sized bed. Miral was in the room next to theirs. B'Elanna can't remember a time that Tom and she have any alone time. They weren't having sex in his parents' house. It felt like they were teenagers again. She knew that they could find places to have sex, but B'Elanna barely saw her husband with him working as a flight instructor, when he wasn't in space he was coming home after she put Miral asleep. She missed Tom and she knew that Miral missed her father.
B'Elanna heard the backdoor open and close. She expected it to be her mother-law or one of her sisters-in-laws coming to pick up their children. She didn't turn around to see who it was until Miral yelled. "Daddy," B'Elanna watched the young girl run into her father's arms. B'Elanna tried to stand but Tom waved her down. As he held on Miral he leaned down and kissed her.
"Hello," He gave B'Elanna one of his smiles that made her roll her eyes, but at the same time melted her heart and he knew it.
He took a seat still holding Miral. "Put me down, Daddy," Tom put Miral down and watched her head back to her cousins.
"I thought that you had classes all day," B'Elanna said.
"The semester is over, and I wanted to share some good news with you," Tom couldn't keep the smile off his face. "I will only be teaching flight simulations at the academy, so I will be home at nights."
B'Elanna smiled because that would be good news. "Then I think we can find our own place now." Tom nodded.
"I agree," He looked at the children before leaning closer to B'Elanna. "I miss my wife," B'Elanna smiled because he was feeling as frustrated as she was. B'Elanna made the mistake of looking his blue eyes and moaned.
"Kids, its time for lunch," Tom's mom called. They broke eye contact and looked at Julia, who smiled at them. "You two might want something to eat too."
"I think we are good, Mom," Tom shifted in his seat. Julia nodded and watched the children run in the house Miral stopped by them and asked if they were coming in to. "No, princess, Mommy and I are not hungry, so you go ahead."
Tom and B'Elanna waited until the backdoor was closed before Tom helped B'Elanna up. He took her hand and led her away from the house to place that no one could see them. Tom pulled B'Elanna close to him and set his lips on hers. They quickly disrobed and let the fire that building between them come out.
They had looked at many homes but none of them were the right one for their family and it was getting closer to their son being born. They had wanted a house a before he was born. They wanted to stay in the Bay Area, so they could be close to Academy. They were looking at house today and hoped that it was the one.
"Tom, if we don't find the house today, I think we should wait until Xavier is born," B'Elanna whispered to him. They had a found a name for their son and they didn't want to tell the world what they named him.
Tom nodded. "I agree," He saw that his parents were playing with Miral. "Mom, Dad," Tom's parents looked up. "We are leaving now." They nodded.
Tom and B'Elanna left to meet the person that was showing them the house. The house was just outside the city and on a good piece of land. They arrived before the person they were meeting. The house looked big and a lot of places for their children to run. Tom wondered what the inside looked like.
"Tom, B'Elanna," Ms. Martin said. Tom and B'Elanna smiled at the young woman. "I think that this is the house for you and your family." Ms. Martin started up the path to the house. Tom and B'Elanna followed her.
Ms. Martin opened the house to a foyer that looked front the front to backyard. Tom could tell that it will let a lot of light in. The kitchen was in the back of the house, to the right was a nice place for the living room. Tom could see a big dinning room table between the living room and kitchen. It would be great for entertaining. On the left were stairs that led upstairs and a door.
"I think that this would be a great place for you B'Elanna when you have to study," Ms. Martin opened the door. B'Elanna stepped in the room and gasped. It was what she needed. Tom stepped behind her and smiled. He could see her sitting behind a desk in here. "Before we see the upstairs, I think I'll show you the back of the house."
They followed to the back of the house. There was a spot next to the kitchen that would make a great play area for their children. There was a door that led to a basement. Tom went downstairs to see that it was half finished. He thought that it might work for his dream. He just has to tell his wife what it was. He made his way back upstairs to see B'Elanna looking out to the backyard.
Tom stopped at the top of the stairs and watched her. He felt it in his bones that she would be standing there watching their children playing in the backyard. Tom didn't even have to see the upstairs because with that view he knew the house was for them. He made his way behind and looked out in the yard. He could put a swing set up for the kids.
"I like it," B'Elanna whispered. Tom nodded.
"Let's see the upstairs," Tom pulled her away from the backyard.
They went upstairs to see fours doors on both sides. The hall led to a set of double doors. Tom and B'Elanna opened each of the doors to see good sizes bedrooms. One of the doors they opened was an upstairs bathroom. They went to the double and opened one of the doors to the master bedroom. The room was big and looked out to the backyard. There was another door that led to a walk-in closet and the master bath.
When Tom and B'Elanna made their way downstairs. They smiled at each other before saying. "We'll take it."
