Paul's POV
Sam reached over and grabbed a sheet of paper from the pad Sue had sitting there writing something down on it before handing it to me. "You know that address?" He asked.
I looked at the page, knowing the street and enough places on it. "Ya I know the house it was bought about a month before you bought yours."
He nodded. "Take Jordan there, don't drive just walk there is someone there who can help."
I nodded walking outside. My heart broke Jordan was sitting there on the swing in tears. Very gently I picked her up and told Jake that I was taking Jordan somewhere that Sam had told me about. He simply just nodded placing a hand on her back and going inside.
It was only about a 10-minute walk to the house but when we got there she was still lightly sobbing. I squeezed her ass lightly before giving her my best smirk. It worked when she grabbed my ass right back giggling at me. When I knocked on the door almost instantly Rav was there opening it he knelt down looking at Jordan in the eyes. "Last door, down the hall on the right."
She took off for that room as he opened the door more. "You wanna come in."
I nodded. "Sure. Who is she gone to see though?"
He smiled. "My wife, Valerie. She isn't a counsellor by any means. But she is someone Jordan trusts and someone who can sometimes force her to see some logic in things going on around her when her purple eyes have taken over. Give them some time it will be a bit for them. Come on into the kitchen I was just making dinner. In fact, it is one of Jordan's favourites if the two of you wanted to stay for dinner?"
I shrugged. "I kinda promised her that we could go get diner food if she went into Sam's with me and found out what he wanted. Though she did storm out before Sam really finished."
Rav laughed. "Okay it is set you are staying here for dinner." He handed me two more sets of utensils for the table. "Can you go set these out for me?"
I nodded taking them and setting the other 2 spots at the table. I hoped Jordan was okay with this though I very much doubted she would mind it. We could do the diner on Friday night. Actually, it was one of the places Jared and I had been thinking about.
I heard a scream coming from the room Jordan had gone into causing me to jump. "Is she okay in there?"
He nodded but looked a little weary. "I'm sure it is all fine. If Valerie needs something there is an intercom in there that she can talk to me. Don't worry about it. It may have just been something hitting the wall as Jordan could be getting angry."
"Angry about what?" Now I was confused. She was in tears when I seen her earlier if this is what happens I was very much concerned about all that could go on.
"Sometimes, oh hell 99% of the time Jordan doesn't like it when someone shows her that she isn't being rational or reasonable about something. I'm guessing someone suggested something to Jordan and now Valerie is trying to get her to see that it is a compromise for the council." He just shook his head and continued cooking the food. Though he wasn't actually doing much cooking it looked like. He was making some weird rolls before sticking them into a press.
"Rav …" the voice came from the wall where the speaker was. "Could you send Paul in here please I need his help with something."
Rav nodded to me. "Go. Her asking for you is actually a good thing. She wouldn't be sticking you in harm's way."
I nodded to him. "Thanks, I'll go there. Last door on the right?"
Rav nodded to me with a smile as he continued to make something there. I knocked on the door of the room before hearing the same voice come through the door. "Come in it's open." I opened the door carefully.
Jordan was sitting on the floor. Well on a pillow that was on the floor. A lady was sitting at a desk. Her hair done up in a messy bun but a small smile on her face. She glanced at Jordan and then at me. It was slightly confusing trying to figure out what I was supposed to do right now with all of this. Did I sit on the couch or the floor or did I simply just stand there and look like a complete idiot. "Jordan, what's up?" I was able to figure out that she was the one who probably wanted me in here.
All she did was pull another pillow from the couch and pat it, batting innocent eyes at me. "Sit please, Paul."
When I sat down on the pillow, she snuggled close to me but stayed on her pillow which gave us a bit of space between our bodies then she looked up at Valerie.
"Do I have to ask him?" she glanced between us very slowly.
Jordan started biting on her fingers when I went to pull her hand away Valerie shook her head. "Give her a minute to think here."
She eventually nodded, pulling her knees up to hide her face, along with her hands.
"Apparently there was a suggestion made by someone?"
I nodded. "Ya, Emily had an idea for this weekend as something that might make it easier for Jordan to actually talk."
"I know Jordan has a few questions. Think you could try to answer some of them?"
I nodded. "I'll do my best."
"It's happening at Emily and Sam's place, the prep work, right?"
I nodded. "Yep, all of it always happens there. Though the cooking of the burgers and hot dogs and sausages happens at the beach."
"How is Sam going to get the wolf to stay in the yard all day? He isn't going to tie it there is he. That would be mean."
I groaned and paled. "No, he isn't going to tie it there. Just trust me when I say he has been stalling trying to get it for you. But Emily can force him to do it. And the wolf will listen to Sam when he tells it to stay in the yard."
"Okay. I think that was all."
I laughed. "Rav is out there" I put quotation fingers around "cooking" then continued. "some kind of dinner though he isn't really cooking anything, and I was informed that we are staying for dinner here as soon as this is sorted."
Jordan giggled.
Valerie nodded. "Does this suggestion need to be cleared by anyone in particular?"
I nodded. "Probably one of the heads of the council. Did we want to do it here? I can call Jake and he and Emily can come over."
Jordan nodded starting to bite her fingers again. I noticed the more nervous she got the more she did that. It wasn't easy to watch but luckily, I had a phone call to make and hoped that Jake wasn't back out on patrol. The house phone rang 3 times before Sam picked it up.
'Paul, how is it going over there?'
"Fine, any chance you could sent Emily and Jake over to this house. Just have them get the address from Sam."
'Sam's gone back home but I'll call him about it. Also, Jake is back working so any suggestions on that one as to who can cover.'
"Try Leah. I know Embry is working with Jared tonight though Embry was thinking of asking Jared to swap with Quil then have Jared take tomorrow morning with me."
'I'll call Leah. Hold tight there. Does this mean Jordan is going to go for Emily's idea?'
"Yep. And you best get working on getting that wolf as he will have to be around on Saturday to watch over them as they do the prep work." I winked at Jordan as she smiled back at me. Her fingers were out of her mouth and she was rubbing her tummy.
'Ya, I'll get right on that. Though convincing it is going to be the problem. But since Emily promised her the wolf, I have to produce it.' He laughed. 'I'll make that phone call then send Emily over there. Are you eating dinner there?'
"Ya, we are eating here. Though I don't quite know what it is."
With that we hung up. "Sam has to go get Jake as he is back working but he has to call someone to cover him. He'll make the call then go cover until Leah gets there. No worries."
About 20 minutes of us sitting there snuggling with each other there was a soft knock on the door leading to the office. Jake and Emily walked in after being told that the door was open.
Valerie pointed to the other couch in the room inviting them to have a seat. "Jake, I understand you are authority enough for the council?"
Jake nodded. "My grandfather was Ephraim Black the chief of La Push. As my father is in a wheelchair, he can't be fully considered a chief and so when some things happen, I get called in as the swing vote when needed."
Valerie nodded. "Okay, Jordan. I know it is hard, but can you explain to Emily and Jake why they are here?"
Jordan struggled for a few minutes biting on the one sensitive spot on my neck before releasing it and looking up into Jake's eyes. "I want to go with Emily's suggestion."
Jake nodded. "That works perfectly. It is going to be so funny watching Sam trying to convince that wolf to stay in the yard the entire time." He laughed. "Jordan, can I stay and watch that conversation pretty please?"
I laughed too. If Jake seen it then all of us could see it. Sam trying to convince Quil to stay put and be photographed all day long while the girls prepared for the bonfire. Being able to smell all that food but not able to have any.
Jordan nodded. "As long as you are gone by 11 you can stay until then."
He nodded. "You have a deal."
Emily was sitting there very quietly, before Valerie asked her. "What is the matter?"
Emily turned to Jordan. "You were so against the idea while we were at the house. I am wondering what happened to change your mind?"
Jordan shrugged. "Valerie made me see that what you had suggested was a compromise. That Sue didn't have to show up until noon so we could have a bit of time the two of us. Well 3 of us as I want Leah there. I think she'd be great fun with the wolf. She helped me see that you were trying to get rid of one of the hardest parts of going to counselling and I should at least give it a try."
Emily nodded. "Okay. Well I'm going to go back and feed Sam. I'm sure your father is waiting for you at home. He isn't mad at you, in fact, he is proud of you for yelling what you did today at everyone. Yes, you ran off. But Jake said you stayed on the property which is what Paul had asked you to do. You did good for the most part today, well besides that little screw up this morning but I'm fairly sure there was a reason for that."
Jordan glanced at Jake as they were about to leave. "Any idea how long this escort thing is going to be going on for?"
Jake nodded. "At least until Sunday. But Friday morning you are off the hook. But any other time you leave the house you have someone with you."
She groaned, "At least this means Paul can't be working too many nights between now and then."
Jake laughed. "Jared lives next door to you. So, the two of you can walk to Sam's together tomorrow morning as Paul starts work at 4 am."
Jordan groaned. "So, do I just text Jared when I'm ready to head over to Sam's in the morning?"
Jake nodded. "I'm sure he is going to have to pick up Kim too so you might want to wake her up before you text Jared."
She smiled at him before they left the room and we headed into the kitchen. "Spiced meaty spring rolls" Jordan smiled as she seen what was on the plate on the table.
Seeing her like this made me smile. She raced to the table grabbing 6 of the small rolls that were on the plate and putting them onto her plate before we were even sitting down.
Valerie laughed. "Rav, did you make them super spicy again?"
He looked a little guilty as he glanced over at Jordan. "She is loving them. So, they can't be too spicy."
Valerie got up walking to the cupboard grabbing a box and turning on the kettle.
Jordan put 3 onto my plate. "Eat you should really try these Paul. They are amazing." She giggled as she finished her last one.
I cut into one and looked at it before taking a bite of it. It was actually okay. But I don't understand why she is loving it so much. She is practically stuffing herself the same as the way that we do it at Emily's place. That is when it hits me when I look up at Rav. He is smirking at her as he is eating very slowing allowing her to have most of the dinner he made. It was the first time today I'd seen her genuinely happy and giggling.
Valerie came to the table with a cup of soup. She too was smiling, and I could tell that Rav made them ultra spicy didn't really bother her. I finished my 3 that Jordan had given me before looking at the plate where they had been seeing only 1 left. She waved her fork at it. "I can have the last one?" I asked her with a smile.
She nodded leaning back in her chair. "That was yummy." She looked over at Valerie. "You didn't want any? The seriously weren't all that spicy I promise."
Valerie shook her head. "No Jordan. I know this is one of your favourites and trying to convince your father to make them is impossible so I'm just glad you enjoyed them." She looked up at the clock. "But you should get going home. Your dad will be getting worried about you."
I walked Jordan home in a comfortable silence when we got to the door I stopped. "Before I go to work, I'll drop your schoolwork off here for you."
She nodded at me pulling me down for a kiss. "Thanks for taking me to talk to Valerie." She said as she pulled away from me. "Are you spending part of the night here?"
I nodded. "I can if you want me to."
She nodded. "I really would. Even if it is only in the living room."
I smiled at her as we went in. "Go get into your pyjamas then I'll go tuck you into bed." I laughed as she ran off for her room.
Her father and Spike were sitting in the kitchen. "You do realize she is going to want you to stay in her room for the night."
I gulped. "She knows I can't as I have to work at 4. But Jared will be here to pick her up in the morning and take her to Sam's and then to school, for me."
Sam nodded. As my phone beeped. I glanced down at it. "Jordan, she's ready for the night. I best go tuck her in."
I walked into her room. She was laying in bed. The blankets thrown everywhere so I had to pick them up and place them on her. "You are a little mischief maker, aren't you?" I laughed for a second. "But get some sleep. You have Jared's number for the morning?"
She nodded. Snuggling under the blankets on the bed. "See you at lunch time tomorrow?"
I nodded back. "Ya. I should be done by then. But behave in the morning. Seth and Johanna have both been spoken to concerning the situation during English class. So tomorrow it better not happens again, as if it does Sam won't be as forgiving."
She yawned snuggling even more under her blankets. "Night night Paul."
Jared's POV – Next morning
I woke up to my alarm going off. Kim had stayed at her place last night claiming we had to go with the rules that Sam had set up for us. And although that annoyed me, I did understand it. She was trying to make amends with Jordan and if it took not being bunnies with Kim for a few days then I was okay with that. But I got up and called Kim while I was getting dressed.
'Jared, its too early.'
"Nope, I'm going to go pick up Jordan from her place then we will be at yours. If you decide to not be ready you can walk to school."
'Meanie. I'll tell Jordan you did that and then she will make Paul be mad at you.'
"Fine. You have half an hour. So that should be enough time. But remember I'm hungry and want breakfast. And Emily needs the two of you to help her cook. So, hurry up."
'Okay, I'm up.'
With that I hung up and finished putting my schoolbooks into my bag from where I had them sitting on the desk last night. And walked over to Jordan's house.
When I knocked on the door an older gentleman answered it. "You must be Jared?"
I nodded. "And you are?"
"Jordan's father. You might want to come inside. I don't think she is going to school today."
I gasped for a second. "Why no…" I was cut off by the sound of someone puking roughly somewhere in the house. "Was that her?"
Her dad simply nodded. "She has locked herself in the bathroom at the end of the hallway. I have called a co-worker of mine who can pick the lock, but I would prefer if we didn't have to do that."
I nodded walking towards the door knocking on it lightly. "Jordan, it's Jared. Can you open the door please?"
After a few seconds I heard the lock disengage, so I gently open the door. She looked terrible and I knew I was going to have to tell Paul about her being sick this morning.
"Let's get you settled in the living room, shall we?"
She just nodded. As I glanced up at her father. "I guess she hasn't taken her meds this morning?"
Sam shook his head. "I want to try and get her to eat something first. I was thinking even a cookie or cracker work great."
He handed her a plain cracker which she did start to nibble on slowly until it is completely gone. And Sam hands her a syringe which she takes completely.
"You're getting better at taking that around other people." He smiled at her.
She nodded. "I really am not up for a day at school."
I nodded. "I'd say not. Did you want me to go get Paul?"
She shook her head vigorously. "No he should stay at work. But could you get a message to him that I'm staying home and see if he can skip the afternoon with me?"
I nodded. "Of course. But for this morning. Why not I get Quil to come over. You can work on your Quileute, and you can help him with his math work."
She nodded to me. "Sounds okay. Though I would prefer Embry."
I thought for a second. "Embry has an appointment this morning that he can't miss. And Sam won't let him miss without him being in serious trouble."
She nodded. "Okay guess Quil is the best option then."
I turned to her father. "I'm going to go see Sam about this. Is there anyway you could wait around to go to work until Quil gets here?"
He nodded. "I want a word with her about this bonfire that is happening on Saturday night and why I had to hear about her attending it from Emily last night."
I left heading for Sam's in my truck quickly calling Kim explaining that I was going to pick her up right now and then we needed to get to Sam's quickly. When she asked if everything was okay and I explained that Jordan was staying at home and I needed to discuss something with Sam before school started she said okay and told me she'd walk to Emily's place just to head there right from my place that she would be fine. I told her thanks and headed for Sam's.
"Where's Jordan? Don't tell me I need to have another talk with her about her not listening to rules again?"
I just shook my head. "Actually, no she is listening. When I got there this morning, she was getting sick, like in the washroom throwing up sick. So, I told her to stay there and her father is with her. He wanted to talk to her anyway about the bonfire that is happening. But I suggested getting Quil to go over there this morning with her Quileute and his math work so maybe they can help each other with that."
He nodded. "What about Paul?"
"I will tell him when I get out onto patrol with him after taking Kim to school. Then he can go see her for the afternoon."
Sam nodded slowly. "I will inform the school about what is happening. And I will inform Quil about it as well as he can go and get the papers from school that are needed for the math work and her Quileute stuff from Seth. You head over there and stay with her until Quil gets there."
I nodded first heading to the kitchen to grab a muffin off the counter before heading out the door to my truck. I really did hope I could help Jordan out explaining the bonfire to her father as I knew Emily probably didn't mean to spill the beans about it to him before she had gotten a chance to really ask him about going to it.
When I got there Jordan was in the living room curled up in a blanket.
"What can you tell me about this bonfire that is happening?"
I laughed. "Jordan wouldn't tell you anything?"
He simply shook his head. "She says she doesn't know anything about it."
I nodded. "Quite possibly she doesn't. Paul only asked her the other day." I took a seat at the table. "It is basically a get together of the full gang. A massive bonfire where we get to hear the tribe's legends and such. Paul thought it might be helpful for her to understand the tribe and maybe help a bit with her Quileute stuff. As they will be getting into the history stuff later this year. So, it's nothing fancy just an ordinary bar-b-que style of thing."
Sam nodded. "Okay. Do they happen very often?"
I shrugged. "I honestly don't keep track of when we have them. Normally we will have probably another 2 or 3 before the end of school then a few during the summer. But I can tell you that Paul really does want her to attend this one. And it will help with a project for her in Quileute later in the year." The last thing I wanted was for her father to get the idea that it would be a good thing for her to miss this bonfire when she wanted to go. "If Sam thought it was a bad idea having her attend it then he would have said so. Just trust us, we will keep her safe."
He shook his head. "It isn't that. I spoke with Ed and Rav about their previous conversation with Jordan after her pulling this last time. And turns out they never put an end date on it. So, the threat is still there and as unfortunate as it is, I think it might be best to follow through with that threat."
"But what if Emily's plan works. What if she does open up with her on Saturday? Wouldn't that be her listening to the rules." I took a breath glancing at Jordan who seemed to be reading at the moment. "I get what you are saying. But imposing that would undo all the work you guys did last night trying to convince her to go for this idea."
He nodded. "You and Paul are close?"
I smiled and nodded. "Been best friends since kindergarten. Both joined up with Sam around the same time to watch over the reservation. And am super happy he has finally found someone who I think is a very good match for him."
He sighed and nodded. "Alright. I'll let it go this time. And I'll call Rav and Ed off but if it happens again mark my word, no matter what the council says that threat will happen." He walked into the living room where Jordan was sitting. "I'll talk to Ed today about Saturday night. Spike and Lou will be by with lunch for you. Wordy, Ed, Rav and I have sniper training today so we will be at the Seattle base all day, if you need anything. Behave, Jordan." He smiled and ruffled her hair, before glancing at me. "You'll stay with her until Quil gets here?"
I nodded. "That's the plan."
