Quil's POV

I walked into Jordan's place with a pile of work for us for the morning. I was super happy that Sam was letting me skip the morning to spend it with Jordan for us to work on our math and Quileute work. Seth had given me her work for the day and the school had our math work ready for us when I had gotten there to pick it up.

Jared smiled at me as I walked in the door. "She is just in the washroom. She hasn't gotten sick again since the first one this morning when I got here."

She came out of the washroom and curled back up on the chair there. "Morning Quil." She sent me a weak smile.

"Morning. I have all of our math work with me. So, I was hoping to get it done today then tomorrow we can be free of it."

Jared laughed. "Well I'm off to grab some breakfast, take Kim to school then get to work myself." He glanced at Jordan. "I'll tell Paul to meet you here at lunch time instead of going to school. Maybe you should ask Quil if he can get that wolf to come by so you can get a picture of it today instead of having to wait for Saturday to get it." He winked at me and took off for the door.

Jordan slid down onto the floor with a few pillows and her blankets. "Let's see this math work that you are probably going to claim is impossible."

She helped me with it explaining it again and again to me until she finally got tired of trying to explain it to me and decided it was time to work on something different. She pulled out her chemistry booklet before glancing at me.

"What no … Jordan we aren't done our math yet."

She giggled. "Correction you aren't done your math yet. I've been done for the past 10 minutes. Now I want to get my other work done."

I groaned. "Fine I'll help you with some of your Quileute before Paul gets here."

She smiled all happy about this. "So, can you get the wolf to come by so I can see it today instead of me having to wait until Saturday?" She glanced at my half-done math sheet. "I mean seeing how I helped you do almost all of your math work for class."

I grumbled. "Jared should never have suggested that idea. I don't think I can get the wolf to come by today I mean at least not the same one you seen on Monday."

She huffed pouting as she worked on her Chemistry work. We worked in almost silence for about 2 hours on different things before she huffed. "I'm bored. Why can't you get a wolf to come by?"

I laughed. "Getting a wolf isn't the problem. The problem would be if you wanted to see the one you seen on Monday." I hoped she didn't get it and I was going to hit Jared for suggesting it to her in the first place.

"I'm going to tell Paul you were a meanie to me then." She stuck her tongue out at me as a car pulled up in the driveway.

Jordan seemed completely unphased by the fact that a car had just pulled up not even bothering to get up and have a look out the window. "That isn't Paul." I told her glancing out the window. Two men had gotten out of the vehicle and were walking towards the house holding bags.

Jordan simply nodded. "I know. It's Spike and Lou. They are coming by with lunch for me. You can go to school if you want to. You met them at the beach the other day kinda."

I nodded. "Well in that case. I'll take my work and head over to Sam's for lunch and then head to school. These guys will stay with you until Paul gets here?"

One of the guys rubbed his hands together. "Oh, we will stay here until then. I would love to have a word with Paul about a few things. Namely trying to hopefully convince him to get to the station earlier on Friday so that Ed doesn't kick my ass later in the day."

I left listening to Jordan giggle. I would have to phase and warn Paul a little bit but he would be glad the hear that Jordan was laughing about things and doing much better than she was doing that morning, at least probably from what he had heard from Jared. So, I took off for Sam's knowing I could phase in the woods behind his house before going to go get some food.

When I got to the house, I dropped my bag on the back porch and ran for the woods. When I had stripped, and phased Paul was immediately in my thoughts.

"How is she doing?"

"Better. She hasn't gotten sick again. But Spike and Lou are there they wanted to talk to you about the fact that they want you to be at the station earlier on Friday. Something about one of them getting their ass kicked." I barked out to him.

He laughed. As Embry entered our thoughts. "Paul, you best get going. Sam said to stop by his place for a quick bite then head to the school for your work then you can go spend the afternoon with Jordan."

"Okay, I'm on my way to Sam's then. From there I can text Jordan what is happening anyway."

With that his thoughts abruptly shut off. Man, I had no idea how he managed to do that all the time just seem to stop any and all thoughts of Jordan when they started. It was as if there was something going on in her life that he didn't really want any of us to know about.

"He does it because of what has happened to her. From what I was able to learn from the other night her past is something that isn't easy to listen to. Walking into that room the other night was rough, she was having issues talking to Emily or myself. Wouldn't look at us for more than a few seconds at a time either." Jake replied.

"Well then. I'm going to go grab some lunch. Paul just got here anyway so I should talk to him a bit."

With that I phased back and looked at Paul he was texting someone. "You letting Jordan know you are on your way?"

He shook his head. "Trying to find out when she was getting sick and why Jared never told me."

I blushed. "Shit sorry man. I thought he had mentioned it to you. That is why she has stayed home today because her father didn't want her getting sick again at school."

He nodded. "Don't worry. I'm not mad. Just concerned about her that's all. But how did she seem when you were with her this morning."

Smiling at him as we reached the back porch. "She helped me with my math work some and I still have 2 pages to go but she managed to get all of hers done. And when I left, she was laughing at one of the guys who brought her lunch after they said they wanted to talk to you."

He laughed for a second. "I made a deal with one of them that we would leave on time on Friday for our date and now he is in shit with his boss cause some of them want to question me about everything between Jordan and I."

Paul's POV

When I got to Sam's it was fairly quiet. Emily had made sandwiches which was normal for us to have for lunch. I told Sam that I'd head for the school and then go to Jordan's and spend the afternoon and possibly part of the evening over there.

"The school was informed about you missing the day and that you'd be by to pick up your work for the entire thing over lunch so you better head over there."

And with that I left. He was right it was a very quick stop at the school for me as they had all my work gathered at the office except for the booklets from History and Chemistry which I had already been given at the start of the week. And with all my work I took off for Jordan's place.

She was in the kitchen when I got there arguing with Spike about something to do with some machine that had been broken by someone else and now needed to be fixed before a test type thing on Monday morning first thing.

"Hey Paul. Can I have a word with you for a second?" Lou looked at me before pointing to the living room.

I nodded very lightly pulling on Jordan's braid in her hair. "What's up?"

"We need you to show up earlier tomorrow. Ed is having a fit along with Wordy that they don't get to question you about this date with Jordan. And then added onto that the fact that she is joining you at a bonfire on Saturday."

I laughed. "It was Spike who made the deal for cookies. Why are you trying to get me to land there before I was planning on it?"

He groaned looking over at Jordan who was still debating things with Spike. "He let it slip that the cookies were for me too. And if you don't arrive early enough, Ed has a list a mile long of things Jordan was supposed to be doing on Saturday that we will be forced to do that day."

Shaking my head walking over to Jordan kissing her neck. "Lou wants me to arrive early on Friday something about a massive list of things you were supposed to get done on Saturday."

She shrugged. "They are things that have to be done once a month. Ed just compiled a list because he was mad about not being able to question you."

I nodded, turning to Lou. "Here's the deal I'll set my appointment with Sue for 10am when I'm done that I'll head down straight from her place. Whatever time I get there is that. If Jordan happens to be done her work by then the deal still stands and we leave." I took a breath snagging a piece of meat from her plate. "However, if you guys pester her at all to try and slow her down, I'll just delay myself getting to there."

Lou groaned. "Can't you have your meeting at 9:30 instead? I mean that would give us the chance to get at least a half hour maybe."

I simply shook my head. "Rule is on the hour normally. She will make some exceptions at sometimes but I'm not asking her to do that for this. And 9 am is far too early for this appointment. So, it's either 10 or we leave it for whenever I wake up and then go down to see Jordan when she texts me that she only has about an hour worth of work left."

Spike grimaced. "I guess 10 is the best option at least there is a chance for Ed to ask you some questions about your relationship with Jordan." With that Spike's phone rang.

"Hey Sam, what's up?" "No, she is sitting right here having lunch and some fun with Paul." "Oh, I'm not sure did you want me to ask her?" "Okay, I'll let her know. She'll see you at the station in the morning?" "Alright, Paul can spend the night with her again then bring her to my place and I'll drive her into the station when I got?" "Okay, Yes. She seems to be doing much better now. Much better spirits then I'm sure she was this morning. But you should get back to your work. Tell Ed, we may have a way for him to question Paul a little bit tomorrow." With that he pressed the end button on his phone and turned to look at the two of us.

"So, Sam has been held up as they want to do some nighttime sniper training tonight. So, they are going to be at the base for most of the night if not all of it. He said Paul could spend the night but out on the couch and that you can come over and I'll drive you to the station in the morning. Sound good?" He smiled at her.

"Ya sounds good. But you'll have to be up early. I mean we are leaving your place about 5. We'll pick up breakfast on the way as I doubt I'll have time to go to Emily's and eat there before I need to be starting to work on Baby cakes for you." She giggled at him.

"You two have a good afternoon. You have our cell numbers if you need anything. And Jordan there is dinner in the fridge for you. I suspected this was going to happen, so we brought something for that too. It just has to be heated up, but the instructions are on the box for you." Lou said as both him and Spike started heading to the door. "We'll see you in the morning, both of you."

When they left Jordan slowly continued to eat what was on her plate before glancing up at me. "Did you want some? I mean Spike made me up a huge plate and then placed it in front of me."

I shook my head. "I grabbed lunch when I was at Sam's before stopping by the school and picking up my work for the afternoon. So that I can spend the afternoon with you."

She huffed. "Fine we are taking this into the living room so that I can snack on it while I am working on my schoolwork and you can have some too." She got up carrying her plate along with a bottle of what looked to be juice into the living room and settled on the floor to work on her schoolwork. When I seen another pillow on the floor across the table, I glanced at it. "Quil was sitting there while I was attempting to try and help him with his math. But the guy is hopeless in that. I really mean it he is completely hopeless. I explained it to him a full page worth and he still couldn't get it. That's when I went ahead with my work and just let him do his until I was done and bored. Then I pulled out my Quileute which is almost done for today."

I laughed. "Oh Quil. He wasn't always this hopeless in it from what I hear. But I heard that you had wanted Embry to come by this morning instead of Quil."

Jordan nodded. "Ya. I mean Jake said something to me last night and I kinda wanted to talk to him about a few things. But Jared said something about him having an appointment this morning that he couldn't miss without being in really serious big trouble with Sam. So, I agreed I'd help Quil with his Math work." She giggled pulling out her Quileute stuff and began working on the last few things on the one page. "I have one more page after this that Seth said I should try to do but I've done a bunch already if you wanted to have a look at them for me?"

I nodded. Grabbing her folder of work and glancing through the 4 pages she had already done of her work. "You are getting better and faster at this. Is the dictionary helping with any of it?"

She nodded. "Ya it is. I told Emily that I had taken it from the house, and she said it was fine that most of the time she doesn't need it but sometimes it is necessary. So, I can have it until I am more familiar with the language then I'll give it back and just look up things as I need them on my phone or computer." She smiled and added her done page to my pile of things to check.

The dictionary must at least be partially working as there wasn't a single mistake in any of the pages that she handed me. "Did Quil help you with these?" I asked playfully glaring at her.

She just giggled and shook her head. "Nope, he was too busy trying to do his math work to even think about helping me with my work."

We spent the next 3 hours working on our own stuff and playing footsies under the table that we were working at. At that point Jordan got up and stretched heading for the kitchen with the empty plate and her empty bottle.

"Are you getting hungry?" I asked as I walked up behind her.

She simply just shook her head. "Not really. But if Sam gets home tomorrow and sees dinner from tonight still in the fridge not even heated, he is going to be mad. Besides, it is only one pizza so it shouldn't be that hard to cook and eat. And we have dipping sauce for the crust of it, so it won't be annoying that way."

I just stood back and watched as she read the instructions and set the oven. Then unwrapped the pizza from the packaging. "We should probably eat at the table though. My dad hates crumbs on the carpet especially in the living room."

After we were done eating Jordan put her schoolbooks away and took a seat on the couch. "I was thinking maybe I should try to explain to you what completely happened the other night when you were here."

I took a seat with her. "You mean the night terror that happened in the living room?"

She nodded. "It was an odd one that's for sure. I mean there are plenty of things that have happened before but that one came with a warning. I honestly don't know what completely set it off and I kinda know that one day I may find out but for right now I really don't know. But normally it happens a few hours after it has been triggered."

I nodded. She was finally opening up to me, which was amazing maybe I could talk to Sam about this and get him to lay off a bit.

"Well what happens is normally my eyes go to the purple and then everything becomes red. It is as if I am looking through a pair of red sunglasses. But it is my eyes that are doing it, and when that happens, I only have seconds to get somewhere safe before it really starts to hit. I could hear you that night demanding that Sam tell you what was happening. Your voice was the last thing I remember hearing and part of me didn't understand why it stood out. But then part of me told me that you'd be safe. You could be the same thing my room is for me. I don't know what it was but something there did that."

I nodded. "Spike literally had to pull me from where I was standing at the door of your room into the living room. Then your father told me that people have left because they have seen this. But I told you the next morning, we are so perfect together that something as small as this isn't going to interfere with us being together."

She nodded. "Wordy said he talked to you about it as well."

Nodding back to her. "Yes, we talked for a few seconds. He wanted to make sure that I wasn't planning on leaving and he said that you really did like me. He could apparently tell by the way that you were talking about me when you were at the station on Saturday."

Jordan blushed. "Yes, umm well someone let it slip about our date and then Wordy and Ed got into it and so it has been even funnier to have them get mad at Spike and Lou concerning the deal with the cookies and you."

I smiled. "Did you want to watch a movie tonight again?"

She giggled. "Well considering you left before we finished the last one, we were watching. I mean how hard is it to sit through that movie?"

I groaned. "It was dreadfully painful. I mean the acting is okay in it. But it goes through the entire story way too fact."

She poked my nose. "Well I think the animated one is too slow, and way too boring. Last time I tried to watch it I almost fell asleep." She settled against me eve more. "But I do want to continue talking to you about things. And maybe learn some about your childhood."

I groaned. "Mine was boring. I've lived on the reservation all my life. Never moved anywhere. I did basically move in with Sam when I started working with him. Me and my parents don't really get along too well."

"I have a question, but I don't really know if I can ask it." She got all shy for a few seconds.

"What's on your mind?"

"Jake last night said something about Embry being someone who has gone through something similar to what I've gone through."

I gulped. Embry would be pissed if he knew Jake had told her about his past. "Yes, in some ways his past and yours are remarkably similar. Though I don't know quite where you are going with this."

"Not exactly where you think. I don't want to get anyone mad or in trouble. But I was wondering was his appointment today to see Sue about his past?"

I nodded. "Yes. And because he works for Sam the consequences for us missing our appointments are much worse. So, he couldn't miss his appointment today."

She scratched her head. "But you gave your appointment for yesterday to me, how is that really any different then him skipping his?"

"Well you see that night Sue and I discussed rescheduling my appointment. Sam had already approved of me moving it provided certain things were met and seeing how they all were then we were good to go."

She nodded. "Okay. Did you get all your schoolwork done?"

I nodded. "Most of it. I have a book report due in English that I need to write up but other than that I should be good. I was going to do that tomorrow morning before my appointment." I thought for a second if she would have an easier time opening up to Embry then that wouldn't be the same as Sue or Emily, but it may be alright. "Did you want Embry there on Saturday when you are talking. I mean he'd get just as much of a hoot out of watching Sam with the wolf as Jake would. And then he'd be around most of the day. But you'd have to deal with him trying to steal the food you're making."

Jordan just shook her head. "That's okay. I think I'm going to stick to Leah and Emily then having Sue join us at 11:30. As Emily said that was possible that she comes a little bit later. But Sam has said there are certain jobs that I am forbidden to do."

"I was just making a suggestion to you. I know you and he get along really well. And sometimes that makes talking easier. But I think Jake said that to you because Embry struggled the same way to try and talk to Sue. He was pulled in on the council as well had the threat of losing all social events placed on the table and even had that happen for a week. He understands not wanting to talk to someone but at the time he had even been pulled from school because his temper was so bad."

She nodded. "Okay, so between you and him you both understand my dislike to talk to anyone about my past and completely are aware the true struggles it is."

I nodded to her. "You know my situation. I'll see about maybe getting Embry to open up about his to you so that you can really see you aren't alone here."

"So, Spike told me that he had told you what the medicine in the morning actually does."

I gulped and nodded. "Yes, he mentioned it. Something about it helps your vocal chords, move freely so you can actually talk."

She nodded. "Well they don't work right because they were permanently damaged by my birth father when I was young. He'd shove things down my throat until I'd almost puke and then pull them out. That constant rubbing caused major damage. So, there is this medicine it really doesn't taste that bad I just don't like taking in front of people cause normally they will ask questions about it. But this morning Jared seemed to be okay with it. Even waited for me to eat before I could take it."

I grabbed my phone remembering that I had texted Jared. "I need to check this. I had texted Jared about why he hadn't mentioned anything to me about you getting sick this morning."

She blushed. "That was my fault. I asked him not to as it would have pulled you away from work and you've given up enough of that already for me. So, I just wanted you to have a relaxing day at work for once. He said he'd tell you to come join me at home when you were done, and I told him it was fine. Then he said that maybe Quil should try and get me that wolf that I'd seen on Monday, but he refused to get it for me." She pouted up at me. "Isn't he a big meanie?"

I laughed. "Surprisingly, that is the one wolf that won't listen to Quil even if he were to call it. So, for Saturday Sam is going to have to do something special to try and convince it to stay in the yard but that is why Jake wants to stay and watch."

She giggled. "Okay. So, how was work today?"

I groaned. "It was boring. Not much was happening, so we spent part of the time patrolling and then the rest we were playfighting on the beach."

"Okay." She yawned. "I almost think I should probably be getting to bed. You can stay on the couch as Spike said as if anyone finds you in my room, we will both be in trouble."

I nodded. "You want me to tuck you in again tonight?"

She just shook her head, kissing my nose playfully. "Nope, I'm all good for tonight. See you in the morning?"

I nodded. "Count on it." I smiled before settling down on the couch as she went off to her room and I presume fell almost instantly asleep.
