Jordan's POV
I got home after helping Emily, Jake walked with Paul and I the entire way and then left when we got to the door explaining that he would go explain everything to Sam but be ready to go at 5:00 because he would be there then, and they had to hurry cause if they didn't there wouldn't be any food left for us to eat.
I had nodded and giggled at him before running off towards my room leaving Paul to chat with the SRU team which surprisingly were still at the house. I was fairly certain that he could handle himself. I mean after all I had left him alone with the full team before.
Grabbing a towel from the chair, pulling the elastic from my hair that had kept it tied up for the day, I headed for the bathroom. Having a quick shower, I throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt along with a sweatshirt. Heading to my bedroom, I called out to the kitchen area. "Paul, I am going to just blow dry my hair if you wanted to come join me while I do that?"
Paul came into the room leaning on the chair that I was sitting in pulling me to his chest and leaning in before kissing my cheek. "You are blow drying it does this mean that you are planning to leave it down for the bonfire?"
I nodded. "I plan to put a headband in it but other than that I don't plan to do much with it. I will bring an elastic with me if I need it later."
When I was done with my hair. I spun around in the chair wheeling over to him pulling him into a kiss gently.
"I'm happy that everything went well today enough that you are able to come with us to the bonfire. I would have felt really out of place if you weren't there." Paul admitted to me.
I glanced down at my phone. "Are we meeting Jake there?"
He nodded getting up and holding out his hand. "We probably should get going. Though if there had been a problem with anything he would have called me about it."
I smiled as we walked out of my room and into the kitchen. Everyone was still in the kitchen with pizza, and it smelt amazing. "Pizza twice in one week, dad come on it isn't great."
Rav just smiled at me. "Just trying to see if we can entice you stay home tonight and let us ask Paul some of those questions, we were planning to ask him yesterday."
Paul shook his head. "The girls have been cooking all day long, I'm sticking with what they have sorry. I think we can have pizza or tacos and question night some other time. Like maybe tomorrow."
Paul placed his hand on my back leading me outside. "Your father and his coworkers really wanted to chat with me about what happened last night with our date."
I giggled. "They are probably just curious about it. You happen to be the first boy to take me out who they haven't really gotten a chance to grill with questions."
He nodded to me and smiled. "How is your homework coming from this week?"
I just shrugged. "I am done everything that was sent home on Wednesday and Thursday. Don't worry I don't plan to get myself grounded any time soon especially for something silly like not doing my homework."
He smiled before picking me up and spinning me around. "My truck is at the beach so after the bonfire I can drive you home." He walked quietly for a few seconds. "I do have a question for you, and you don't have to answer it if you don't want to."
I nodded to him, giving his hand a squeeze. "Go ahead and ask if it is something I am not comfortable answering then I will just tell you that."
He nodded. "Your father practically assumed that you would not be coming to the bonfire tonight. Even almost had Rav prepare Valerie to talk to you tonight cause of all of this." He walked silently for a few seconds before we got to the edge of the beach. "I guess what I am wondering about is what happened that helped you make it through this morning."
I shrugged. "Honestly, it may have been Jake. Having him around just seemed to calm me enough to keep the night terror away enough for me to talk. The nightmare last night would have been enough to force me not to actually talk, they have this weird habit of being able to take over everything the next day if I start talking. While Jake was there it was as if part of him was keeping it behind a closed door. I mean I could still feel it there, but it couldn't take over everything."
He nodded leading me over to the group of everyone. There were logs sitting around a large bonfire in the middle. There was a table over to the side with all of the yummy food which we had gotten to make throughout the day. This was really the first time I had actually looked at everything else that Leah and Emily had been doing while I was going through my story. And the sheer volume of stuff they had made was surprising. I stomped over to Emily, leaving Paul just standing there glancing at me.
"You two did the rest of this? Why didn't you get me to help with the rest? All you had me do was make the burgers and sausages." I playfully hit her in the arm.
She smiled. "Jordan, most of this was done yesterday. Leah just helped me pull it together today and do the two salads that I wasn't able to get done yesterday. The only ones actually working today on this for the bonfire was you and Leah. I hardly did anything while you were at the house. I was working on dinners for the rest of the week for everyone."
I shrugged and walked over to the table to grab one of the burgers that was sitting there having already been cooked. Putting some Mayo and cheese on it before heading over and having a seat beside Paul on one of the logs. Paul had a burger and 2 sausages.
Embry came up smiling. "So, Emily, these sausages are more amazing than your normal ones. I love that they don't have any casing on them. Maybe do them like this more often."
Emily just rolled her eyes at him then went back to her conversation with Sam.
When everyone was done eating, Billy, who Paul explained to me was Jake's father and the old head of the tribe gathered everyone and began telling us the stories of the tribe.
The vast majority of the stories were nice and the guys though I assume they had heard them any times treated the listening with great respect. I stayed listening to the stories finding each one of them interesting and a part of me, that part the other day that seemed to calm and actually listen to Jake turn and almost sit at attention while I listened to the telling.
When they were over, I glanced around and realized that between Emily, Sam, Leah, and Kim they had managed to get the clean up all done. I leaned against Paul, happily just closing my eyes just waiting to see what happened next. What happened next was Paul was carrying me to his truck and putting me in the passenger side. I could very faintly hear voices outside the door, but I was too sleepy to really be worrying about them right now.
I don't remember going to bed that night, or anything past getting in his truck but something did happen through the night. I had a really odd dream. A large grey wolf came to me, he was slightly bigger than the ones I had seen earlier. Howls rose from the distant hills, and he turned to look towards them. He lay down covering his ears causing me to let out a soundless laugh, covering my mouth in the process. I reached around his big neck hugging him, waving him on to go towards the howls. There was this part of me that didn't want him to get into trouble for staying with me when he was needed elsewhere. Though there was this part of me that knew that this wolf and I were tied together somehow. Leaning my forehead against his, the colour of his eyes looked so familiar to me, though for whatever reason I couldn't place them. Howls sounded again and I both heard and felt him groan before getting up and using his head to nudge me towards the bed. Looking around I realized that we were in my bedroom. I now knew this was a dream, no way could I have snuck a wolf into my room without my father or Paul noticing.
I woke up Sunday morning feeling weird. I knew I wasn't sick but still everything felt different than it had before. I grabbed my phone glancing at it and groaning.
Jordan, So Team 3 took babycakes out yesterday for a scene and well it kind of got shot twice they said though they refused to send me pictures. We are on duty on Monday so we need it fixed as soon as possible. The other teams are getting their own machines within the next 2 weeks so I promise this will hopefully be the last time until I get something to happen.
I shoved my covers off glancing at the same outfit I had worn to the bonfire.
Paul's POV
rewind
Jordan had been awake through the legends. I knew that. She had been listening so intently and it had caught the attention of both Sam and Jake.
When they were done it was as if she needed sleep so badly that she just instantly drifted off to sleep on us. When I went to move and see if she would wake up; she just seemed to snuggle into me all the more letting me pick her up and carefully carry her to my truck. When I passed Jake, I nudge my head toward my truck and he followed me motioning to Sam for him to come along as well. After placing her in the truck and gently closing the door making sure she was covered up with a blanket and her seatbelt was on I turned to the two of them.
"Okay what gives? Both of you were glancing at Jordan throughout the entire legends."
Sam glanced at Jake and waved his hand walking away from the both of us. I watched Jake run his hands through his short hair.
"I know that she is your imprint and everything. But there was something today that happened between us. Something between her and Embry. I can't explain it other than there was a part of her that was calling out to me today."
I nodded to him. "She said you were keeping the night terror from taking over again. And that for the time you were there she could feel it, but it was behind a closed door." I thought for a second. "Would you be okay being there with her for her appointments with Sue?"
He leaned against his rabbit. "I don't know if Sam would go for that?"
I huffed. "We will never know until we ask him." I chanced a glance into the truck at her just as Embry came down the pathway walking right towards us. "Plus, you never fully answered my questioned from earlier."
Embry smiled at me. "I'm glad today went well. I know Quil and I had a grand time."
Jake smiled as if remembering them playing throughout the day together. "Paul there is a part of her that was calling out, almost like she is a part of the pack that we just don't know about yet. I can't explain it. But her reaction tonight seemed to be pulling both my attention and the attention of a few others." He pointed at Embry.
Embry blushed. "Remember that day when she left English class and Jake had to use his alpha voice on her and he said she reacted it could have something to do with that. I honestly don't know man, but for right now I think we need to keep a close eye on her."
Jake nodded. "I am going to talk to Leah, she might be the best chance we have to truly find out what might happen with her but on the other hand we might not be able to find out anything. I mean after all it was the death of Harry that actually pulled Leah and Seth into all of this mess. We might not really know with Jordan. She might take to it the same way the rest of us have had to deal with it."
I nodded sighing. "Maybe talk to Old Quil see if he knows about anything or even your father Jake. If she is going to be a part of all of this, I want to be able to give her the best chance we can at introducing her to it. Also, with her temper I am worried how long Sam would want to keep her off of school for."
Embry smiled. "Think of it this way when you finally tell her the truth, she might not be that bad. When are you planning on doing that by the way?"
I smiled thinking about what I had planned. "Friday, I have it all planned out."
Jake's mouth hung open. "How did you manage to get two Fridays off in a row?"
Embry laughed. "He sweet talked Leah into taking his Friday and he would take her Monday and Tuesday morning shifts as long as she got Jordan to school on time."
I laughed and shrugged. "Actually, to be truthful Leah asked me if I would take her Monday and Tuesday mornings. Something is going on in class that she needs to be there. So, I said I would, but she had to take my Friday evening."
Embry smiled. "What are you going to do for the date?"
I shrugged. "Not fully decided. She isn't all into anything fancy so I was thinking about just getting Emily to make us some finger foods that we can take to the beach and having a picnic there then a walk through the woods to that spot."
Jake nodded. "I'm sorry if we freaked you out tonight. But her reaction was the same as Leah or Quil or Seth hearing them for the first time. Which was different than Kim or Emily. I remember watching them, but they were just listening to the story they had no actual connection to the thing at all."
I thought back to my first time hearing them after I had turned. They were different for me to listen to even though I had been told them since I was a young child. I nodded to Jake. "Let me know what you find out. I'm going to get Jordan home and into bed. Her father is taking her to the station tomorrow and then I am joining her over there for dinner."
Jake nodded as I walked around my truck getting in the door.
When I got to Jordan's place her father was still up and in the living room when I walked in. I knew she had closed her door when we left to go to the bonfire, and I just needed to make sure it was open when I went to carry her into her room.
Her father, Rav and Ed looked up from the game they were playing on the coffee table when I walked into the house.
"Where's Jordan?" Rav asked standing up concerned.
I pointed outside. "He is asleep in my truck; I knew she had closed her door when we left tonight, I just wanted it to be open so it would be easier to carry her inside."
Sam nodded. "You need help getting her settled?"
I nodded to him. "She is in jeans, and they won't be all that comfy to sleep in probably."
Ed nodded. "She has slept in them before but if you are asking for one of us to get her dressed for bed that is out of the question. Just lay her in her bed if she wakes up and wants to changed, she will. Though I am going to say you probably want to braid her hair for her as it tends to get tangled in everything over night if she just leaves it not tied back."
I nodded going and opening her door before going out to my truck, picking her up from the seat, kicking the door closed, then heading inside with her in my arms. When I made it into her bedroom, I grabbed the elastic from her wrist and used it to put on the end of the braid that I did in her hair.
When I made it back into the living room the three of them were still sitting there.
"So, I talked to Jake, he happened to have been there today when Jordan was having her time to chat with Emily and Sue and Leah. He is going to talk to Sam about for at least the next little while joining Jordan for her appointments."
Her father glanced at me. "Is he the one who was able to help her make it through today?"
I nodded. "From what I hear yes, he was. Though I don't know much about the day other than Jordan managed to explain enough about her past that it made Emily satisfied with the results."
Ed looked skeptical. "Honestly, how much would Jordan have had to say to make Emily satisfied? I know today would have been hard on her that is why we had this one exception to the rule. I am just worried that with Jake always being there she might never open up and we might never be able to move past this stage at all."
Sam nodded. "I do fear that. I would like to talk to Emily, find out how far into her past she actually did go today during the chat. If that is something more than she ever was able to get out, then I am more than willing to have someone join her for at least a little while." He sat quiet for a second. "Also, I need to find out from Sam that if today did go well if this means that her sessions are going to be held somewhere else besides that room."
I smiled. "Then I would suggest you calling him tomorrow at one point. He will be at work probably from about noon until supper time but other than that he should be home. Though I would avoid breakfast time."
Rav pointed to the couch. "Are you spending the night tonight?"
I shook my head. "I need to get a few things sorted out for a date we are having on Friday evening. For that it is best to talk to Emily when she is in a good mood and willing to agree to almost anything which is usually right before we all leave the house for the night. I was thinking about coming back after I had done that."
Sam nodded and yawned. "Just make sure you lock the door when you get back here."
I nodded, "I am just running over and will leave my truck here. What time are you guys leaving in the morning?"
Rav glanced at his watch. "Probably about 5 at the latest, Jordan has a ton of work to get done on babycakes as it got pretty shot up today at a scene and we need it for something on Monday with a training thing with Forks PD."
I nodded. "I am currently blocking Sam's truck but just have Jordan wake me up when you need me to move it and I will leave then.
Ed smirked. "You know you could always drive Jordan down and help her fix the machine that way you two could spend the day together."
I shook my head. "I have to work in the afternoon with Sam anyway but I will be done by 5:30 and over here for dinner."
