"Have you seen Dr. Paris?" Ensign August asked as she passed Lieutenant Morgen outside of the doctor's quarters.

April smiled. She knew where her friend was. "I would try Lieutenant Parker's quarters," The Ensign nodded and made her way to Lieutenant Parker's quarters.

Ensign August has heard the rumors that Dr. Paris was seeing Lieutenant Parker, but she didn't believe it. She had seen the two of them together and they acted like Starfleet officers, not a couple. Ensign August wondered if the captain knew about their relationship.

She rung the bell to Lieutenant Parker's quarters. She took a breath as the doors opened; she didn't know what she would find. She hoped that neither one of them was naked. She saw Dr. Paris standing there in her Starfleet uniform.

"Dr. Paris," Ensign August said. "It's happening again," Dr. Paris made a look like she was thinking again.

Dr. Paris thought on the matter before nodding. "Come to sick bay with me. Next time just call me to sick bay."

Ensign August blushed. "Sorry, Dr. Paris." Selena smiled before they entered sickbay.

"So did Ensign August find you?" Selena looked up from her breakfast to see April standing there with a smile on her face. Selena gave her friend a look.

"Yes, somehow she knew that I was in Stephen's quarters. Only so many people know to find me there."

April only smiled before taking the seat across from Selena. "Sorry she must have pass me along the way."

Selena narrowed her eyes at her friend. "What am I going to do with you?"

All April did was smile. Selena shook her head before going back to her food.

"Speak of the devil," April said. Selena looked up, to see if it was Ensign August, but it was Stephen. He was talking to Commander Beed. Stephen caught her eye. Selena felt her herself getting warm. She could see the fire in his eyes too. They have been together for four years and nothing has changed since the first time they got together. He still made her want to sneak off and find a place to have a little fun. They were both professionals when they were working, but once they were behind closed doors they could go after each other fast enough.

Stephen smiled at her, and she smiled back. It was no secret that they were together, but it was kept under wraps. Neither one wanted to ruin their careers or that of others. April lifted one eyebrow. "Even after all these years you are caught up on him."

Selena looked back at her friend. "I love the man too much."

"So, when are the wedding bells going to start ringing?" April smiled. Selena and Stephen didn't know but there was a bet going on around the ship as to when they were going to get married.

"I don't need a wedding for Stephen to tell me that he loves me, and I love him," Selena felt that they had had this conversation before. "We are happy the way we are."

April looked at her friend and knew her well enough that Selena wanted something more. "You been together for four years and there still isn't a ring. I know you love him, but how long are you going to wait for him?" April knew it was hard question to ask but she knew her friend need to figure things out.

Selena sighed and saw that Stephen was leaving the mess hall with the Commander. "Right now, I am happy and with Stephen I have a feeling that I will be with him forever." Selena had a distance look in her eyes that had April shaking her head.

"Don't wait for forever. Don't you want to give your parents some grandchildren." April finally said.

Selena couldn't believe her friend. "My parents are happy with their six grandchildren and my own mother wasn't a mother until she was thirty-two. So, I have time before they start on me."

April raised her arms in error. "Sorry, I'll leave your love life alone."

Selena laughed. "So, what were you doing up at that time?" Selena asked. She had a feeling that her friend was seeing someone on the ship.

"Thank you for coming, Lieutenant Parker," Captain Harry Kim smiled at the young man. Stephen stood in front of his captain with his hands behind his back in his captain's ready room. "Please take a seat," Harry pointed to the chair in front of his desk. Stephen took a seat. "I had put your name in for Lieutenant Commander on the Berlin. It's a good opportunity for you. You got the job if you want it. They love you and can't wait to meet you."

"Thank you, sir," Stephen didn't know what to say. It is what he wanted for his career and knew it was the right step. He knew why it was hard to accept because he would be leaving Selena here and he would miss her too much. He liked that he was on the same ship as her. He never thought that he would find love in Starfleet. He thought that he would die a bachelor and leave everything to his brother's children. Now he was deciding on his life based on what he felt for a woman. He knew that Selena would tell him to take the job, it is what he wanted to do.

"Before you make any decision think about it. They don't need an answer until the end of the week," Harry Kim knew what was going through the young man's mind. Harry saw the love between Stephen Parker and Selena Paris. He had only seen it a few times and Selena's parents were one of the couples that he saw it.

"Thank you, again," Stephen stood up. He needed to find Selena and talk to her. Stephen headed for the doors.

Stephen found Selena in his quarters; she was reading at the couch. She must be done with her shift in sickbay. She looked up at him and smiled. Her smile always melted his heart.

"Stephen, what is going on? I thought that you had another hour of your shift. I can replicate something for our dinner." Selena placed her PADD on the couch and stood to head for the replicator. Stephen stopped her with a hand.

"Selena, love I need to talk to you about something," Selena stopped and stared at him.

"What is going on?" Selena asked. She worried about something. She wondered if he was breaking up with her. Her heart started to break.

"I got promoted to Lieutenant Commander," Stephen said.

Selena took a breath and threw her arms around him. "That is great."

Stephen pulled are hands away from his neck. "I will be on the Berlin."

Selena's heart melted. He was leaving and where did that leave them. She knew that most relationships ended when one of the couple leaves. She didn't want to lose him. She had a feeling that her heart may never heal if he was gone. She moved her hands out his and placed them on his chest. "Oh, what does it mean for us?" She asked.

Stephen looked at her with his blue eyes. "I don't know. I haven't accepted it yet."

Selena could feel the tears welling up in her eyes because she knew what she was going to tell him. "You are going to accept it and work on the Berlin."

"I don't want to lose you," Stephen leaned down to catch her lips, but Selena pulled back.

"I don't want to lose you either. I love you, but this is your career, and you don't want to be a Lieutenant forever."

Stephen nodded he knew that she was right. He nodded before pulling her close. He wanted to feel her body pressed against his. He leaned down and captured her lips. They slowly disrobed each other while placing kisses on each other. Stephen slowly led her to the bed that they had shared for the last three years when she slept over and never left.

Awhile later, Stephen laid on his back staring at the ceiling. Selena was sleeping next to him. She was turned away from him. He really didn't want to lose her, but they both knew that he was going to take the job. He felt he would feel better if he knew this relationship was going to last forever. He looked down at Selena, they haven't talked about marriage, but he felt that it was right. They were going to have to work on the marriage, but he felt that they were going to make it.

"Selena," He said to wake her. Selena turned around with wide eyes. She wasn't sleeping either. "What do you say about getting married?"

"Are you serious?" Selena asked him.

Stephen nodded. "I love you too damn much to let you go and I know that we would be feel better if we were married." He leaned over and kissed her.

Selena smiled. "Yes, I'll marry you," She wrapped her arms around him. "I love you, too." Stephen smiled before pulling her over him.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Captain Kim asked.

"Yes, sir. It's one of the only ways I know I can success at my new job," Stephen held on to Selena's hand. They were in the captain's ready room.

Harry looked at the young woman before him. He could see both of her parents in her. This was something that they would have done. It is what they did. Harry smiled at the young couple. He turned to his commander. "Will you be a witness?" Commander Beed smiled.

"Oh, we got a message from Selena," B'Elanna picked up her PADD as she took a sip of her morning coffee.

"Really," Tom came to stand by her. They knew that getting a message from Selena was hard because she was busy and didn't find time to write her parents.

B'Elanna took another sip of her coffee before reading the message out loud.

"Dear Mom and Dad,

I have some news for the both of you. Stephen and I are married!"

"Married?" Tom questioned and tried to take the PADD from B'Elanna, but she held it from him.

"Yes, we knew it was going happen sooner or later," Tom frowned. "Do you want me to finish the letter?" Tom nodded. B'Elanna smiled.

"I know it was unexpected, but Stephen was promoted to Lieutenant Commander, and he will be working on the Berlin. We are taking a two-week honeymoon before Stephen leaves. Just remember that I love him, and you guys like him."

On the bottom of the message was picture of Selena and Stephen sitting on a beach. Looking like they couldn't get enough of each other. B'Elanna showed her husband the picture. Tom made a noise. B'Elanna smiled. "What is wrong, Tom?"

"Our baby is married, and we weren't there," Tom said.

B'Elanna set her PADD and coffee down. She wrapped her arms around Tom's waist. "Tom, we knew something like this could happen. They spend more time in space than they do on Earth. Also, our baby is thirty and can make up her own mind. You are sad that you couldn't walk her down the aisle like you did Miral or see Stephen's face when he saw Selena in beautiful dress like Xavier. If I remember we eloped."

"Yeah, but we were in the Delta quadrant," Tom picked up the PADD to look at the picture again.

"If remember the only people we had were Captain Janeway and Chakotay. I'm sure we would have the others there like Harry or Neelix or The Doctor or Seven or Tuvok. We made our own family out there because we had to rely on them. And I'm sure they would have wanted to share in our happiness."

Tom smiled. "Harry did hit me when he found out because he would have been my best man."

"See I'm sure Stephen had a person who he wanted as his best man. So, let's enjoy our new son-in-law. Remember you liked him." B'Elanna took her PADD from Tom and picked up her coffee.

"It's not like he has to know," Tom shouted after his wife as she left the kitchen. Tom laughed as he saw B'Elanna shake her head.
