Tom stepped off the ship on Q'onoS with B'Elanna beside him. Six months ago, B'Elanna and him received a message from Miral that D'stil asked her to marry him. Tom knew it was coming since Tom talked to D'stil when Miral and he were starting out. It was hard seeing his little girl getting married. Tom had to realize that his daughter was a grown woman and wanted to start a family with the man she loved. Tom could only hope that D'stil felt a little of what he was feeling right now.
"Mom, Dad," Tom and B'Elanna turned to see their youngest daughter making her way over to them. She just finished her pre-med degree and was ready to get her medical degree.
B'Elanna kissed their daughter. "How is your sister doing?"
"I think that she is doing okay. D'stil's grandmother still doesn't like that her grandson is marrying quarter Klingon. She wanted Miral to do some things traditional for Klingon wedding until D'stil out his foot down and told her that this was their wedding. Miral is doing some of the things traditional for the wedding." Selena lanced her arm through B'Elanna's. "When is Xavier going to be here?"
"Tomorrow with the rest of the Paris' family," B'Elanna said. "I really wanted him to bring a date to the wedding."
Selena smiled at her mother as they headed for their hotel. "You wanted him to bring Peata, but I thought that they were just friends," B'Elanna rolled her eyes. Everyone in the family knew that there was more going on between them.
"I did. I just have a feeling that she is going to be part of the family one day," B'Elanna looked behind her to see Tom shaking his head.
They reached their hotel and Tom checked them in. Selena followed them to their room. "I think that we have to wait until Xavier gets his head out of his ass," B'Elanna shook her head as she fell on the couch in their room. Tom took the moment to take their bags to the bedroom.
"I can't believe that Miral is getting married," Tom heard Selena say to her mom.
"You knew it was going happen when they got together," B'Elanna mumbled. Tom knew that she had closed her eyes. The journey had taken a lot out of them.
"Yeah, I thought that Miral would be pregnant when it happened," Tom could hear the smile in her voice.
"Selena Paris," B'Elanna warned her daughter.
What, Mom?" Selena asked innocent when they both knew that she wasn't.
"She is your sister," B'Elanna sighed.
Tom knew that it was time to make his present known. "Don't we have dinner with D'stil and his parents?" Tom caught his wife's eye. B'Elanna knew she should let it go. Selena was an adult and not under their roof anymore.
They headed for the Klingon restaurant where they were meeting their daughter, her fiancée, and her future in-laws. It wasn't hard to find them when they entered the restaurant. Miral was waiting by the door for them. She hugged each of her parents before giving her sister a look. They followed Miral to the back of the restaurant. The parents greeted each other. They had met even before Miral and D'stil became a couple. The family took a seat.
"How was your trip?" D'stil mother asked them after they ordered family style.
"Long," B'Elanna smiled. "But it always seemed that way when coming to Q'onoS. Is everything ready for the wedding at the end of the week?"
Miral and D'stil mother nodded. "Yes, I'm glad that it is finally happening," D'stil's mother gave the young couple a look. Everyone around the table knew that Miral and D'stil were living together for the last year.
D'stil shrugged his shoulders. "I would have married her right away, but she told me that we would get married when she was ready." D'stil looked at Miral like she was only woman in the world. Tom couldn't doubt that D'stil was in love with his daughter.
Miral leaned closer to D'stil. "Don't say that you didn't enjoy these two years together?" She gave him a look that had Tom turning away. There were things he didn't need to know about his daughter.
"Oh, I enjoyed them," D'stil ran a finger along her jaw.
Selena decided to cough. "Save it for the honeymoon," She said to the couple.
Miral gave her sister a look. "Just wait until you meet a man that makes you act like this."
Selena only smiled. "Who said that I was getting married?"
"I never said marriage," Miral gave an evil smile to her sister.
"Girls," B'Elanna said. B'Elanna felt that she was back on Earth in their home when Miral was a teenager and Selena was just hitting puberty and they were fighting. "How did your time go with D'stil's grandmother?"
"I think that it went well," Miral looked at her future mother-in-law. D'stil's mother nodded and smiled.
"Don't worry she didn't think that I was right for my husband. He married beneath him," D'stil mother looked at her husband and no one could mistake the love that past between them.
D'stil's father smiled. "She can be tough, but she knew that I would marry this woman with or without her approval. She knows that D'stil and Miral are in love and will perform the ceremony."
"I am ready for traditional Klingon wedding," Selena said. Everyone around the room knew what that meant.
Miral woke to sun shining through the window. She had missed D'stil body next to her. She liked to curl into him and take his heat. She had to smile because this was her wedding day and D'stil would be her forever. They were already talking about having children. Miral knew that she wanted more than one child and she thought that D'stil did too.
There was a knock on her door and Selena poked her head in. "Good morning. Are you ready to become Mrs. Qok?" Miral rolled her eyes at her sister. "Mom should be here soon to help you get ready." Miral nodded. She didn't know why she was nervous, she loved D'stil, and this was two years in the making. She wondered how D'stil was doing. He had done his time in the cave with his friends.
Miral watched as her mother came in with her grandmother, Miral was glad that her human family could make it to her wedding. She knew that her aunts and uncles were here with some of her cousins. Not all her cousins could make it. She knew that her Klingon family would also be filling up the seats. Miral saw tears in her mother's eyes.
"It's going to be okay," Miral hugged her mother.
"I know. It's just something that happens to a mother," Miral saw her grandmother nod. B'Elanna wiped her eyes. "It's time to get ready."
Miral apartment turned into a bridal suite. Her mother decided to tell stories about her. Before Miral knew it, she was standing in her wedding dress. She took a breath as she looked in the mirror.
"I think Vom is going to have to keep D'stil standing when he sees you for the first time," Selena whispered. Miral saw her mother and grandmother nod. Miral felt the tears in her eyes, but she didn't want to cry, or she ruin her make-up. Miral did see her mother and grandmother wipe an eye.
"It's time to go," Selena said. She didn't want to break up this happy moment.
Miral stood in a small room waiting for the ceremony to start. There was a knock on the door. Tom poked his head in. There was a smile on his face that didn't reach his eyes. "Hi, Dad," Miral didn't know what else to say to her father.
Tom stepped into the room. "Your mother was right, you do look beautiful,""
"Thank you, Dad," Miral didn't realize how emotional she going to be right now.
"I remember the first time I saw you," Tom smiled. Tom was taken by the little bundle of joy in his wife's arms. "I was taken by you and knew you were wrapped around my finger. I watched you grow up into a strong woman. I knew this day was coming when you whop his butt the first day, we met him." Miral smiled at that. That day was very memorable to her. There was a knock on the door. Tom looked at the beautiful in front of him. "Are you ready?"
Miral smiled at her dad. "Are you ready to let go?"
Tom gave a watery smile. "No, but if we don't make an appearance soon your mother will be back here."
Miral smiled and held out her arm for Tom to take. Tom took her arm and led her out of the room. They went down a hall to a set of double doors. "Ready," Tom said as the doors opened. Miral nodded.
Tom walked his daughter the aisle to the man that was waiting for her. D'stil stood there strong and proud. This was date he declared to the world that this is who chose for his mate. Vom stood next to him, ready to catch him if need be. Tom saw a small smile on the young man's face.
After Tom handed her off the drums started. D'stil's grandmother gave them a look before starting the ceremony Vom held out the bat'leths for Miral and D'stil to do their battle. They finish their battle and said their vows. D'stil and Miral stood in the center of room so they could get hit with ceremonial ma'Stakas.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom headed out to the reception area. Tom followed B'Elanna with his family following him. His oldest daughter was married and now they are celebrating,
The room was set up with four long tables with a fifth table in the front of the room for the bride and groom and their parents and grandparents. Tom helped his mom to the top of the stage. He helped them take a seat. Tom held out a chair for B'Elanna to take. He looked down the table and saw D'stil's parents and grandparents taking their own seats. There were only five empty seats, two were for the bride and groom, the other two were for B'Elanna's parents, and was for his father. With both of her parents gone, it was an honor to have two chairs for them. The rest of the guests took a seat waiting for the bride and groom to make their appearance.
Tom took a breath as the doors opened and D'stil and Miral came in. They only had eyes for each other. D'stil led his new wife to the table, pulled out her chair, and helped her sit. He leaned down and kissed her before taking his own seat. There were screams all-round the room as he sat. Everyone was honoring the marriage and hoping the marriage will be fruitful. Tom couldn't think about D'stil and Miral starting a family. He knew that they wanted a family, he hoped that they wait for a couple of years before they started to try, but he had a feeling that they were going to trying on the honeymoon.
Waiters came in and placed Klingon food on the table family style. Tom watched as his mom took some food. It wasn't like that they haven't had Klingon food before he just wanted to make sure she had enough. He saw food on his plate and knew that B'Elanna had placed it on his plate. Tom turned to his wife and thanked her. He started on his food. He looked in the crowd and saw Selena and Xavier sitting with his sisters and brothers-in-laws. B'Elanna's cousin, Nirgh was close by to help if it was needed.
After the meal, people made their way up and congratulated the happy couple and told Tom and B'Elanna what a good match that Miral made. Tom sat there and watched as the Klingons started to drink blood wine, he hoped that a fight wouldn't break out, but Nirgh had told that a fighting breaking out was a good thing for the couple. A fight did break out between D'stil's cousins and Vom's brothers. Tom saw some of the elders egging them on.
When the blood wine was gone, it was time for the happy couple to leave. D'stil and Miral were going to a Klingon resort for their honeymoon, but they weren't leaving until the morning, so it a night at hotel. Tom and B'Elanna watched the couple leave. Tom saw that Selena and Xavier were helping their grandmother get back to her hotel. Tom stood there and watched the guests leave. All that were left were D'stil's parents and B'Elanna and him. B'Elanna was talking with D'stil mother. Tom took a sigh before smiling at D'stil's father.
"It was perfect for them," Tom said.
D'stil's father returned his smile. "It was and they are going to be happy. Before we know it there will be little ones running around," Tom let out a laugh.
"We might be back sooner than."
B'Elanna came up by him and D'stil's mother went to her husband. The couple said goodbye before parting ways. Tom and B'Elanna went back to their hotel room. Tom climbed in bed after changing. He pulled B'Elanna close. "Do you miss not having a big wedding like that?" He whispered in her ear.
B'Elanna turned to him and smiled. "No." Tom leaned down and kissed her.
