Peata stood in front yard of her future in-laws' house waiting for her parents. The wedding was only a few days away and her parents with her siblings were coming. "I don't know why you are nervous?" Peata felt an arm around shoulder. She turned around to see her fiancé there.
"This is the first time that my parents are going to here and meeting your parents," Peata gave him a nervous smile.
"Our parents will love each other because they already met through calls and if I remember our mothers hit it off because they are going to grandparents." Xavier looked up at the sky looking for the shuttle that was bring Peata's family.
"I know, but I am still nervous," Peata said as she looked at the sky again. "Are you sure that your parents can handle all these people in the house."
Xavier smiled. "Yes, Miral and her family is staying in the holodeck and Selena is staying downstairs in the guest room while your family has the upstairs bedrooms. Your parents will be in Miral's old room, your brother is staying in my old room, and your sister is staying in Selena's old room. And we are staying at our apartment."
Peata was ready to say something when they saw a shuttle coming down into the front yard. Peata took a breath as the ship landed and the doors opened. Xavier took her hand and led her forward. Peata's parents were the first to come off.
"Mom, Dad," Peata hugged her parents. Her parents hugged her back. Peata's sister, Pumo was the next one off. Peata was glad that her sister could be here. Peata's brother, Zacec, was the last to come off. Peata hugged her brother.
"Xavier," Adrian Maz smiled at the young man marrying his daughter in a few days.
"Mr. Adrian," Xavier shook the man's hand.
"You are marrying my daughter, please call me Maz." Xavier nodded. "Help Zacec with our bags," Xavier made his way over to Zacec. For some reason Xavier thought that Zacec didn't like him since the first time that they met several years ago.
"Zacec," Xavier said picking up some bags.
"Xavier," Zacec picked up the few remaining bags.
"Come on, Xavier's family is waiting to meet you," Peata grabbed her mother's hand and led the family into the house. Xavier and Zacec brought up the rear, Xavier kicked the door closed after he entered.
Xavier saw his family standing in the kitchen and family room. "Put the bags here, we'll bring them up later," Xavier put the bags at the base of the stairs. He watched as Zacec did the same thing.
"You remember Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres," Peata said to her parents.
"Yes," Doare pushed her daughter out of the way to hug Tom and B'Elanna.
"These are Xavier's sisters, brother-in-law, niece and nephews," Peata said before her mother started to talk Xavier's parents' ears off. Doare looked at the other in the room. This is his older sister, Miral, and her husband D'stil. These guys are their three children, Dremahk, D'jono, and Beviyr," Peata's family greeted them. "And this is Xavier's younger sister, Selena."
"Please take some time to rest before dinner," B'Elanna said after everyone greeted them.
"Thank you," Doare smiled. B'Elanna led the way upstairs so they could rest.
Peata watched her family make their way upstairs and let out a breath. "Everything is okay," Xavier kissed the side of her head. "The wedding will be great."
"I know," Peata looked at him. She smiled at him.
"I'm still trying to figure out why you want to marry him," Selena said as she passed them to the backyard.
"Just because you can't find a man, doesn't mean that you can change Peata's mind," Xavier yelled after his sister.
Selena raised her middle finger at her brother. "Selena Paris," Both children turned to their father watching them. "It's a good thing that the children aren't here." Tom gave them both a look. "Try to be adults that you are."
"That is going to hard to do," Miral mumbled.
Tom glared at his oldest daughter. "That means you too. It is terrible when the three of you get together."
"I knew that I would find you out here," Peata turned around to see her brother was walking up to her. Peata smiled at her brother. "You were always staring at the stars."
Peata laughed. "It might be why I joined Starfleet." They were outside on the Paris' patio. Peata had come out here to get a moment to herself. She loved her family and Xavier's family, but they could be a little much.
Her brother rolled his eyes. "So, you are really doing this?"
Peata raised an eyebrow at her brother. "Doing what?"
"Getting married," Zacec frowned.
"Yeah, I love Xavier and he loves me," Peata was trying to figure out where her brother was going with it. She thought that her family loved Xavier.
"Are you sure that he loves you the way that you need?" Zacec asked.
"Zacec where is this coming from? I thought that you liked him," Peata asked.
"I would like him better if he was here and you were home on Bajor," Zacec said.
"What?" Peata didn't like what her brother was saying. Peata looked around, maybe someone had taken her brother and done something with his mind.
"You shouldn't be marrying him," Zacec pointed to the house. "What about Vip?"
"Vip, as your best friend, Vip?" Peata was really trying to figure out what was going on with her brother. Zacec nodded. Peata laughed. "There was nothing going on with Vip."
"Didn't you have a crush on him?" Zacec narrowed his eyes at his sister.
"Maybe when I sixteen, but what I have with Xavier is something different. Do you know how long that man waited for me?" Her brother shook his head. "He waited for me to get my head out of my ass. Did you know that he wanted to marry me a year into our relationship? I was the one that put the brakes on it for so long." Peata looked at her brother. "Xavier completes me and he makes me stronger when I am weak." Peata laughed. "We are having a baby." Peata placed a hand on her stomach, and she glanced down at slight curve of her belly.
Zacec watched a light come on in his sister's eyes as she touched her child. He never thought that his sister was going to be mother, but here she was. He wanted to say something, but Peata spoke up. "I know this, Xavier is never going to leave me or any children we have. Xavier is a good man, and you should know that," Peata looked up from her belly to her brother.
Zacec took a breath. He had a feeling that his sister was right. "I guess it is just you fell in love here on Earth and not on Bajor. I didn't see it happen."
Peata let out laughed. "Stop being big brother on me and stop thinking of me as a little girl. I was going to do some growing up here. Come and hug me," Peata held out her arms for her brother.
Zacec stepped into his sister's arms. "Just make sure that he doesn't hurt you," Zacec leaned back and smiled at his sister. "Or I'll have to make my way here to kick his ass."
Peata rolled her eyes. "You won't have to worry about that because his sisters and mother would do it for you."
Zacec looked from his sister to the house. "You do really like them."
Peata nodded. "They keep telling me that I could do better than their brother and son," She laughed.
"They might be right about that," Zacec laughed. Peata hit her brother on the arm.
"Come on. Let's go back in the house," Peata grabbed her brother's hand and led him in the house.
"Are you ready to do this?" Charles asked his best friend. They were waiting in a room off the temple.
Xavier laughed. "Yeah," He stuffed his hand in his pockets. "I have been waiting to marry this woman for years."
"Didn't she hate your guts for a few years?" Charles gave him a half smile.
Xavier gave his friend a look. "Wait until it happens to you."
"I think that I'm not getting married," Charles let out a whistle.
Xavier shook his head. His friend doesn't know what he is missing. There was something about a woman's love that made you a better person. He had a feeling that when his friend falls, he is going to fall hard. "You know that fate might have a different path for you and are you going to let the Tucker line die."
Charles shook his head. "I have cousins who can carry on the Tucker line."
"There will be no Charles Tucker the eleventh," Xavier smiled. Charles rolled his eyes before the door to their room opened.
Tom walked in and smiled. "Everyone ready." Xavier nodded. "I'm so glad that I didn't have to do this with your mother," Xavier gave his father a look. If Xavier remembered Tom wasn't all that happy at Miral's wedding. He wondered how he was going to be at Selena's wedding if his sister ever got married. Tom laughed. "You'll do fine. You love Peata."
"I do and I can't wait until this all over," Xavier sighed.
"Just remember not to hold your breath in when she walks down the aisle." Tom gave Xavier a side hug.
"Thanks Dad, for your words of wisdom," Xavier took another breath.
"It's time," Bajoran prylar poked his head in the room. Everyone in the room nodded.
Tom left first to find his seat with his wife. Charles grabbed Xavier by the shoulder. "You got this," Xavier nodded before they left the room.
They found themselves in front of their family and friends. Xavier saw his parents in the front row with his sisters behind them was the rest of his family. Some of his family came all the way from Q'onoS to see this. Xavier saw some of his friends from Starfleet. He also saw Peata's family in the front row waiting for this to happen.
The music started and it had Xavier look to the back of the temple Peata's sister, Pumo, making her way to the front. She gave Xavier a smile before they turned towards the aisle. Xavier watched as Peata stepped out on the aisle on her dad's arm. Xavier didn't notice that everyone standing watching Peata made her way to him. All Xavier could see was how beautiful Peata looked in a light blue dress. Peata only had eyes for him.
For Xavier it felt forever for Peata to make it the end of the aisle. Peata's dad Maz placed Peata's hand in his. Maz kissed Peata's side of her head before taking his seat next to his wife. Xavier and Peata turned to the ranjen, who smiled at them before starting to speak. Xavier tried to follow the words to make sure that he said the right ones at the right time.
Before Xavier knew it, they were married and Peata was wife. He had to let out a breath as Peata took his hand and them making their way to down the aisle with the applause of their friends and family behind them.
Xavier and Peata stepped out on the Paris-Torres backyard where their family and friends were. Xavier took a sigh as they made their way into the party goers. He was handed a glass of champagne from someone. There was food to one side of the yard and tables all round the yard for people to sit.
Someone slapped him on the back. Xavier looked over to see his Klingon cousin, Vom. "Good job," Xavier saw glass of blood wine in his hands. Xavier wondered how drunk his cousin was already. Xavier saw Peata leave his side with Miral.
Another cousin came up and Xavier saw that it was his cousin, David. He knocked him on the head. "Are you right in the head?" He saw his cousin exchange a look.
"Yes," Xavier laughed. "Last time I checked you both were married." They both shrugged their shoulders. "Excuse me while I go and find my wife," Xavier moved away from his cousins and knew that their wives were going to have a trouble getting those two home.
Xavier caught up with Peata as she was talking to his sister and cousins. He had to pull her away before they started on him, but Peata was enjoying herself and he didn't want to leave her side. So, he stood there and let them have their fun.
After some time, Xavier got her away from them and they found Charles and Pumo waiting for them. Charles tapped a knife to his glass getting everyone attention.
"As all you know I have been friends with Xavier since our second year at the academy when taking Species Culture. We felt that we were in the same boat because we both knew more about different cultures than our professor. Which was true," Charles got anyone who had taken that class laughing. "Xavier even walked out of class that day." Charles gave Xavier a look. "It was the start of beautiful friendship.
"I remember the first time they saw each other; it was third year engineering with Dr. Torres," Charles looked around and found B'Elanna standing with Tom and Peata's parents. Charles tilted his glass towards her. "I'm sure you remember, Dr. Torres," B'Elanna shook her head at the young man but she always liked him. He was smart and was a good engineering student. It wasn't hard to see that he was a lieutenant. "Well back to my story," Everyone laughed. "Peata didn't like Xavier because he was the professor's son even those Dr. Torres didn't give favoritism, only her favorite student, me," Charles put his hand on his chest. "Anyways, they had to do a project together and I could tell you some of the stories that Xavier had but than we would be here all night. Peata didn't like Xavier and Xavier didn't like Peata, but they somehow got the project done and I think they passed the class.
"Fast forward a few years and they are designing ships together before they find common ground and before I knew it, they were a couple. I couldn't be happier for my best friend and Peata let him win an argument once and while. To Xavier and Peata."
Everyone watched as Charles handed off the invisible mic to Pumo. Pumo smiled. "I don't have a story on how I met Peata all I remember is her hitting me in the face when we were younger," Everyone let out a laugh. "I do remember her sending letters home and when she met Xavier for the time that was all she could talk about. I just wondered if I was ever going to meet the man that made my sister nervous. The letters stopped about him until they started working together. These letters were different, and she couldn't say enough good things about it.
"The first time I met Xavier I knew that they were meant to be together. Peata had come home for a visit with Xavier because they were in the area. She wanted to show him where she grew up. I asked her when they were going to sleep together, and she threw something in my face saying that they were just friends. I didn't believe that for a minute because I saw the way they looked at each other.
"I wasn't surprised when she sent home a letter that told us that they were together and I all I wrote back to her was finally," Everyone who knew about Peata and Xavier's relationship knew how they waited for them together. Pumo turned to her sister and new brother-in-law. "Now we get to celebrate with them on their wedding day. Peata, I couldn't ask for a better man for than Xavier. He brings out a side of you that I never knew so hold on tight to him. Xavier, you have a wonderful woman standing on your side for the rest of your life. Don't anger her too much or you may not find the body." Everyone laughed. "Love each other and we are happy for you. Peata and Xavier," Pumo held up her glass and toasted her sister and brother-in-law.
Everyone clapped. Xavier pulled Peata to the food. "You need some food," Peata gave Xavier a look. Xavier gave him a look. "I'm going to guess that you didn't eat anything this morning because you were nervous about what was going to happen today," They stopped at the food table and Peata crossed her arms. Xavier leaned up and kissed her. "I know I was the same way," Xavier placed a hand on her still flat stomach. "And you are eating for two." Peata sighed and Xavier gave her a plate.
They piled their plates with food and found a seat at one of the tables to eat but it was a perfect spot for everyone to congratulate them on the wedding and they hoped for a good marriage. Peata and Xavier tried to eat quickly so people would stop asking them about what they had planned for the new baby.
Peata and Xavier cut the cake before the cake was handed out. The party went into the night before Peata and Xavier were allowed to leave the party. Peata hugged her family because they were leaving the next day for home. Peata and Xavier left the party and made their way to their hotel room to spend the night there before the next day and they headed on their honeymoon.
"Was it everything you wanted?" Xavier asked as they were lying in bed.
"It was," Peata leaned over and kissed him. "I love you."
