It was a normal day in Mcduck manor, the sun was shining, the birds could be heard, but you could also hear two children playing and laughing like they was on a adventure which they in a way were, sort of,these two children were twins, but they could almost not be taken for that, mostly because people see twins as exactly the same people, mostly the clothes, always the same pair of clothes but these two had completely different set of clothes.

The girl had a brown pilot jacket, brown shorts, and some pilot boots, she also had a blue scarf which was a precious gift from her brother.

The girl's brother ( who was the oldest one by the way),had a blue sailor outfit complete with a little sailor hat,the only thing that wasn't really a sailor item was a guitar strapped around his back which he always walked around with in case some ideas to a song came.

The twins played outside in the backyard with some big branches as swords and preteding that they battled against enemies that wanted to take their treasure.

" Get back, you fiend no one will get the treasure as long as we protect it!,Nothing can stop us!"The girl yelled with a fire inside her that would never die.

" That's right you beasts, try to defeat us,you will fail without a doubt!" The boy yelled with a voice that in the future would be hard to understand but still with the same power as his sister.

They continued to play, and even put up some cut-out versions of monsters that they beated down with ease, but in the middle of their game, the back door opened and a old duck came walking towards them, but instead of his usally red coat he instead wore a black suit with a tie.

" Hey Uncle Scrooge!" The twins said at the same time.

"Hey kids" he answered back, but his voice had a hint of sorrow in it.

" Is everything okay, unc?" The boy asked concernly.

" Yeah, what's the reason with the change of clothes, and the sad tone, you are acting like someone is dead" The girl asked as a joke, but when the old duck eyes was filling with tears they realized that had really happened.

" Oh...who is it?" They both asked, the girl a little ashamed of her words.

He sighed sadly and answered:

"He was a very close friend, and a big author, created a beautiful world with his imagination,he was a fantastic man"

"Aw, I'm sorry uncle Scrooge, but who was he?" The boy asked.

" His name was Tolkien"

That name got the girl's attention:

"Wait do you mean JRR- Tolkien the creator of the Hobbit, and Lord of the rings's books, two of the best adventures stories ever,he was your friend?" She asked with both excitement, and sadness in her voice.

" Wait,you haven't read them,Della?"Her brother questioned

" Okay,no but I heard so much about them and one day I will read them, and we will one day go on the same adventure as the characters"

Scrooge couldn't help to smile a little, but his sadness was still presented and he answered's Della's question.

" Yeah kids he's gone, and I must go to his funeral,I just need to say goodbye"

The twins looked at each other, thought and said the exactly same thing:

" Then we will come with you"

Scrooge looked at them, very surprised, and touched at the same time but could only say one word:

" Why?"

The boy answered first

" This man seemed to mean a lot to you,Uncle Scrooge, and it feels wrong that you need to do this alone,so let us come with you for support "

Della came with her expianation" Donald's right, unc, you need support, and by the way,it feels right to be there with you,you don't need to face this alone, and I will also pack some adventure things if we should stumble into one which we definitely will, but I will come to help you too"

He looked at his niece and nephew for a while and then brought them into a hug.

" I'm so happy that I have you two" he said with tears falling down his face, but this time of happiness.

Some days later..

They had traveled to England, and now stood at Wolvercote Cemetery where the coffin just got lowered in the grave where beside the man's great love laid, two lovers together again.

Scrooge,Donald and Della (both with their arms around their uncle) stood a bit behind the famliy who mourned their lost member.

Donald tried to comfort his uncle "Don't worry Uncle Scrooge, everything is gonna be fine"

" I know lad,but it feels very unreal he and I have been friends for a very long time,I still can't really believe it."

" How exactly did he die?"

"Of old age I think, but he was to close to death back in 1973 becuase he got serious problems with his body, chest infection for example, but I gave him treatment that saved his life, and I may have used some magic healing subtance that accidentally slowed his age a little"

Donald suddenly chuckled a little

" The magic hater used some magic,he really must have been a good friend if you broke that rule,I'm proud of you unc"

Della was also impressed "Agreed,it's nice to see that very selfless part of you"

Scrooge smiled at them

" Thank you, kids, that's really nice to hear"

Now the coffin had been placed next to the other in the grave, and covered in earth, on the tombstone was the dead's name but also a another name:Beren, which Scrooge remembred as a character that belonged in one of Tolkien's famous stories from his world.

Some moments later the funeral was over and they walked towards the exit when a voice called out:

" Excuse me!"

They turned around and saw a man dressed in a suit walking to them and then he gave Scrooge a package and a letter, which the old duck examened a bit confused.

"What is this?"

The man got a somber expression as he explained:

"This is Mr Tolkien's last gift to you mr Mcduck,he wanted you to have this he said that this will be the beginning of a new adventure for you".

Scrooge felt his eyes well up a little and said with a cracking voice:

" Thank you my friend"

Some moments later they had returned to the hotel (a cheap of course the night had come and when they were inside the room Della couldn't hold back her excitement anymore:

" Come on Uncle Scrooge,open it,open it!"

" Easy lass,I will".

First he opened the letter which read:

" My dear friend if you are reading this, then I have left this world and I understand your feeling of loss, but I can assure you,my friendship with you Scrooge Mcduck was a great pleasure and a adventure in itself, and I will never regret it,and this gift to you contains a key that if you want to use it will open a door to a world full of adventure that you will never forget, this key has been a secret in years and I can't think of anyone to use it and keep it safe more then you my friend: Use it well and take your wonderful niece and nephew with you, they will enjoy everything too, but most importanty just keep living, don't let grief destroy you, just keep going and never give up, greetings JRR-Tolkien."

Scrooge hugged the letter to his chest, feeling a sense of happiness, then he opened the package which contained...a rock, just a normal rock.

Della seemed a bit disappointed and confused at the same time.

" Uh what?" Was the only thing she could say.

Donald didn't really understand either

" How is can that be a key?"

" I actually have no idea,lad"

This made them both just stare at him, he had always seemed so full of knowledge, and that he had answers to everything.

But then moonlight shided in and fell on the stone and words appear on the stone which Donald noticed

" Uncle Scrooge, look on the sides!"

Scrooge looked and began to read the words that seemed to be carved in the rock.

"If you are worthy of the entrance, speak friend and the door will open for you"

Della really started to doubt the letter "Okay not to be rude, but your friend must have been become very confused under his last days"

" He was not confused lass, Tolkien must have some kind of answer from his books I think he told me about something like this once,I just can't really remeber what he actually said"

Donald saw that his uncle would think about this the the whole night and suggested that he would rest a little before he which he agreed to.

Scrooge sat down in a chair while the kids took the two beds, ( Della checked her adventure bag) and some moments later they were fast asleep.

The moon continued to shine in the room on the stone that shined more and more bright, like it was a big spotlight, but then Scrooge who had the riddle running in his head: It was a little unsure what happened, maybe the conversation between him and Tolkien had slowly emerged in his mind,or just a coincidence,it's hard to know but suddenly the rich duck muttered a word:" Mellon, mellon" then and the rock engulfed the whole room and sended the family on a adventure they never would forget.
