"One day I followed Seth after school, he was always so jumpy and acting strange. I was hoping if I followed him I could see why" She wiped her eyes. "He went to a warehouse and there was this group around him and they gave him a backpack. I ditched before I could get caught. I just left him there. I didn't even run and help him, I just left him there alone" Dani explained to the former Navy Seal.
"If you had stayed and you got caught, we'd be looking for you too. D, starting now, right now you've gotta stay out of this. We will do what we can for Seth if he's doing this under duress we can help him but you have to stay out of this. Do you understand me?" Sam told her, his voice was gentle but firm.
She gave a nod. "I understand Uncle Sam"
Sam had brought her back to her father and the dirty blonde father went wrapping his daughter in a hug. The teen hugged her father tightly burying her face in his chest, Deeks had looked to his partner who gave a nod saying they had something.
"Dani, I need you to go to my desk and stay there. Do not move from that spot" Deeks told his daughter.
When she was about to protest he had shot her a look and she simply nodded, he couldn't help but give her a small sympathetic look and kissed her head. Wordlessly went to her father's desk and sat down, the three men went and quietly talked. Deeks had felt his heart pounding in his chest.
"Dani followed Seth to one of the locations and saw Seth with a group of people. She got out before she could get noticed" Sam spoke first.
"She may be able to tell us where it is," Callen suggested.
"No. No absolutely not" Deeks shook his head. "Dani is not, I repeat not getting involved. Not in this lifetime or the next"
"Deeks, she knows where they are or at least one of their locations. This could be a chance to be find something"
"What if she can't give you an address?"
Callen and Sam had glanced at each other, their eyes silently talking. Four pairs of eyes had then met Deek's ocean blue eyes, he read and studied their eyes and realized what they had silently said.
"Oh no. Not a chance in hell. You're not taking my daughter there!"
"Deeks calm down-"
"Calm down?! Calm down! You wanna take my daughter near bombers and you expect me to calm down!"
"What is going on over here?" Came a loud, female voice.
Hetty had walked over to the three men when she heard the detective liaison going off on the agent in charge. They all had looked at their boss, Deeks was livid at Callen's suggestion.
"Callen here just about suggested they take Dani to where she saw Seth with possibly the group we're looking for and I'm not letting my daughter go anywhere near there again" Deek's voice was sharp.
"Mr. Hanna, why don't you take Mr. Deeks to take a breath, I'll talk to Mr. Callen" Hetty suggested.
Sam had taken his friend away to calm down while Callen stayed back with his mentor. He looked down at the shorter woman.
"I didn't mean for him to go off the way he did, it was the only suggestion we have" Callen told her.
"I understand Mr. Callen, but you also have to put yourself in his shoes. Mr. Deeks has more than one job and one of those jobs is being Dani's father. He's responsible for her safety and well being. He was more scared than angry"
"I understand Hetty, but we have more people in danger and Dani may know where they are"
"I'll do it" Came Dani's soft voice. "If it helps Seth and everyone in the city, I can take you there. I can do it Uncle Callen"
The two had looked at the youngest Deeks and both had given looks at her. Callen had been the first to move to her, putting a gentle hand on his shoulder.
"I know that and understand that but your father made it clear, he doesn't want you involved. We don't want you involved. Do you remember the address of the place and we can check it out that way?" Callen asked.
"I didn't see one, Uncle Callen please. Let me do this"
Callen had seriously been conflicted with this. On one hand he wanted to know the place for this group and stop any more upcoming attacks. But this was one of his best friend's kids. He knew if he took Dani out and anything happened to her, Deeks would go through the roof. It would put a huge strain on their relationship and friendship.
The agent in charge had then looked to his boss. "Hetty, you on board with this?"
"I want you to air on the side of caution Mr. Callen. You're gonna be treading in uncharted waters when you take this to her father"
Callen nodded and went to find his other two colleagues, Hetty was needed back in Ops to update Director Vance of the situation. Dani took advantage of the situation with no one around she ran and grabbed her bag, this time she was smart, or so she thought. The teen had left her phone behind so her father wouldn't be able to track her.
One of the many things she learned was to ghosts herself without getting found. Sneaking out had come as a second nature to the youngest Deek. After leaving the headquarters she took off for the bus, Dani was determined to prove herself.
Callen had reached his two friends, the dirty blonde man looked to see his long time friend. He had been a lot calmer.
"Callen, I'm sorry for snapping at you the way I did. I was caught off guard and scared. I didn't mean to" Deeks apologized.
"No need to apologize, I understand. I asked you to put Dani in possible harms way for a case when I shouldn't have. If anyone asked me to do the same thing I'd go off on them to" Callen said.
"Are you sure there's no other way?"
"She doesn't remember the address and Erin is still working on finding Seth"
"If you take Dani, I will go with you guys. I want to be with her"
"That's fine. I can live with that"
The three had gone back to where Dani was supposed to be and Deeks froze, his heart could have stopped. His blood turned to ice. His desk, where his daughter was, was empty. Dani had once again snuck out. What else had caught his attention was her phone laid there on the desk.
"Callen….Where is my daughter?"
Meanwhile
Dani was hoping to go back to the warehouse without getting caught and she knew she wouldn't. She had left her phone behind so Eric wouldn't find her. The teen was going to finally prove to her father she could do this job even as a kid. She was gonna prove it to all of them.
One thing she hated was lying to the people she loved and cared for as family. She lied to Callen, she knew where the warehouse was. She played it off as she didn't so she could still be involved somehow during the case.
The bus dropped her off down the block from the warehouse and she saw a couple people both with backpacks going inside. As much as she didn't want to do it she sped walked quickly to keep up with them. Once the two people in front of her were inside she jumped hearing a loud noise and turning to see the metal door closing.
When she turned a large man had been in her face nose to nose with her, breathing heavily in her face. She swallowed hard, fear was creeping up into her body. But refused to let it show. A smirk appeared on the man's face as someone appeared behind Dani, a cloth in hand and they put it against her nose and mouth.
Dani fought and struggled against it trying to break free, before she knew it her legs began feeling like jello and she was out cold going limp against the person behind her.
The man finally spoke. "Put the newest sister in the back, soon enough the war will begin"
