I give full credit to One Piece to Oda-sensei and this is just something that my twisted imagination came up with.
This story has been updated by the original author.
Author's pre-note.
Hello everyone! RoseDragonWitch here, and yes I am the original author of this story and currently working on its sequel Towering Memories and Treasured Dreams. Over the last few weeks I got back into One Piece and caught up to date with everything happening in the manga. Since then, I've been itching to write Luffy and the others again, which brought me back to this story, which was a big accomplishment for me to finish.
And to those who have been updating me with news about the story of One Piece, yes, I am fully aware of the changes that have been made. Such as Sabo being alive, Sanji's family, etc. While I appreciate the update, please understand that when I first began this story, it was when we were still getting manga chapters from the ending of Punk Hazard through most of Dressrosa. In fact, I was nearing the end of this story by the time that it was revealed to us that Sabo was alive. And of course, I long since finished this story before the Straw Hats adventures in Zou, Whole Cake Island, Wano, Egghead, and Elbaf.
And with Oda-sensei taking a much-needed break, along with the remake of Fishman Island, as well as season 2 of the live action series and The One Piece being worked on… I figured that I do something to help with getting people excited when all this comes out as a kind of Christmas present. As much as I would love to find out more information about Elbaf, if Oda-sensei needs a break, I say we give him one. The man is almost a national treasure at this point and I don't want his magnum opus here to be the cause of his destroyed health. I say we give him all the time he needs to recover.
Sadly, due to health concerns of my own at the moment, I can't realistically keep up with my sequel of Towering Memories and Treasured Dreams as much as I would like due to the fact that I need to re-watch the episodes to get all the details and dialogue I need… and getting that where I am isn't really easy. Issues with the hospital going on at the moment so I can only write so much for the time being. I do promise you that the next chapter for the sequel is going well though and it will be going up as soon as possible, hopefully before December.
So how do I get my One Piece fix from here? I figured that I'll go back to this story, which brings back a lot of memories for me and helped me get through some other tough moments in my life. That's why I figured I could do the rewrite idea since they are doing a rewrite for Fishman Island. That would be a lot easier for me since I won't have to go back and re-watch the episodes and I could get a chapter out a week from doing that.
Least you worry, I'm not changing the plot of the story, but rather updating it with new info, fixing the grammar mistakes, as well as practicing what I learned from my writing bootcamp… that sort of thing. For those of you who are worried about the original storyline, I will be leaving the original up under my same name as well as posting it on Ao3 so if you want to re-read the full version, you don't need to worry about it going away.
And to the many people who have offered to do commissions about this story, while I would dearly love to see some of your artwork, sadly, due to medical bills being worked out, I cannot afford to request commissions at the moment. For those of you wondering why I would be doing something like this if I have health concerns, it's simple. It keeps me distracted. I'm not in the hospital 24/7 and spend a lot of time at home as well, but it's easier to keep my spirits up when I have something to do and like I said, this story—while it was backbreaking work—did help me through some tough times so I'm hoping it can do the same for me here.
I think that's everything for now, I do hope that you enjoy the updated version and I should be able to get the chapters up once a week.
