Lisa was feeling very nervous. It was the Spoonerville High School Talent Show of 1996 and she was very nervous because she was going to take part in it and she had never ever been in one in her life. Even though she wouldn't do it alone and she would do it with Max, she still felt very nervous.

This talent show business all started when Max and Lisa went at that school dance after the school ski trip. They were so impressed with each other's singing and dancing that they thought they could be the next Powerline and his ex-wife Deadly Beautiful. And that gave Max the idea. They could do a Powerline and Deadly Beautiful tribute concert for the school's talent show this year. Lisa liked that idea so that she signed herself up so she could join Max for the talent show. And then along with rehearsing for Anything Goes, they would also sing and dance to Powerline and Deadly Beautiful songs for the talent show. Some of them included their beloved duet songs with Love Will Never Leave Us and I'm Never Lonely With You among them and solo songs from each other, including Powerline's classic songs Stand Out and I-2-I among them and Deadly Beautiful's timeless songs Life is an Hourglass and Love is Stronger Than Hate among them.

Lisa enjoyed rehearsing all these songs with Max as much as she did with rehearsing for Anything Goes, but when the actual night arrived, she was feeling very nervous and very worried and she didn't feel like doing it. She felt nervous when she first did Anything Goes, but not as much as she was for this talent show. She kept thinking that was because she was with more people for that show. She wasn't with much people for this show, even though she was going to do it with her wonderful boyfriend Max.

"I know how you feel, Lisa," Max said, after she told him how she felt. He was wearing clothes that was identical to Powerline's iconic yellow suit and black boots and sunglasses. "I know I don't show it on the outside, but deep down, I get very nervous every time I go out on stage or on the basketball court, so you're not the only one who feels that way."

"So what motivates you to do what you do when you do it, Max?" asked Lisa, who was wearing a strapless, sparkling black dress with black shoes that was very identical to what Deadly Beautiful wore when she did her iconic concert at Madison Square Garden in 1994. "Whether it ends up as a success or a failure?"

"Well, I just tell myself in my mind I'm gonna ignore these negative thoughts and doubts and worries and just get on with it," Max said. "Because not doing or even not trying anything is the biggest failure in the world and trying and failing is still a better achievement than not trying or failing at anything at all."

"Wow!" Lisa was amazed by Max's words. "And you've been having that mindset all your life? Even before you became popular?"

"Especially before I became popular. It's one of the few things that's helped me survive the tough challenges during my life. And it still helps me when I still have to go through the tough times of my life, even though I am more popular now."

"And who taught you that useful advice?"

"Well, Powerline's inspirational story of what he had to go through in his life before he became the biggest rock star on the planet taught me that. And there were a few camp counselors at the summer camps I went to when I was younger taught me that as well. And also my dad. In his own unique and crazy way, he went through many challenges during his life and persisted and now he taught me how I should persist in everything I do and never give up on anything."

Lisa smiled. "Well, thank you for the motivation, Max. I feel so much better and more motivated now."

"That's great, Lisa," Max said. "And, remember, no matter what happens tonight, I will have fun with you and I will be very proud of you, even if no one else will be."

"Thanks, Max," Lisa said. "And I will have fun with you tonight and I will be very proud of you too."

"Thanks, Lisa," Max said. "Now, then, on with the show."

"With pleasure," Lisa said.

Then they went onto the stage to join with the other contestants.

The high school talent show began. The first contestant that went on first was Bobby. He made some art with his cheddar whiz cans. He used them to create 'cheesy' copies of famous paintings including Mona Lisa, Sunflowers and The Birth of Venus among them and famous buildings like Big Ben from London, Notre Dame from Paris, the Barcelona Cathedral, the Egyptian pyramids and the Great Wall of China among them. Everyone was amazed with Bobby's 'cheesy' skills and his 'cheesy' artwork. They all looked weird but delicious and creative. The first judge gave him a score of eight, the second judge gave him another score of eight and the third judge gave him a score of seven.

Then it was Stacey's turn. She did poetry. These poems were her own that she wrote herself and she recited them in front of everyone without even having to read anything she wrote down. Everyone enjoyed all of them and all three judges each gave her a score of nine.

Then it was PJ's turn. He did his own comedy show, which involved telling verbal jokes and slapstick stuff. He made everyone laugh and even gave them belly aches. The first judge gave him a score of nine, the second judge gave him a score of eight and the third judge gave him another score of eight.

Then it was Chloe's turn. Wearing her pink gymnastics crop top and shorts, she showed off a lot of incredible gymnastics moves. Everyone was very impressed with her skills. They felt like they were watching a future gymnastic winning a gold medal in the Olympics. Two of the judges gave her a score of nine and the third judge gave a score of ten.

After a few more students had their turn, it was finally Max and Lisa's turn. They were the last students to go onto the stage.

"Break a leg, Lisa," Max said to her.

"Thanks, Max. You break a leg too."

"Thanks."

Then Max and Lisa went onto the stage and they did their Powerline and Deadly Beautiful tribute concert. When they finished their concert, everyone loved it and all three judges gave them a ten, the highest score of all the students.

Then Principal Mazur took the stage. "Now that all these amazing talented students have showed us their incredible talents and that the judges have judged them and given out their final scores, I am very pleased to announce that the winners of the Spoonerville High School 1996 Talent Show are Max Goof and Lisa for their amazing Powerline and Deadly Beautiful tribute concert show."

Everyone applauded Max and Lisa as they collected their talent show trophies. Their friends congratulated them and they told them that their acts were very good too. Once again, Goofy congratulated Max and Lisa for their success and so did Pete and Peg and Bobby's parents, Stacey's parents and Chloe's parents. The only set of parents that didn't congratulate Max or Lisa was Lisa's parents. They still didn't even seem to be proud of the fact that their daughter won an award and she entertained a lot of people tonight. Despite still failing to impress her parents, she was still grateful for the praise from her friends and their parents, especially her incredible boyfriend Max.
