"Woah!"
The turtles all stood around the canister in complete and total awe. There was a beautiful blue substance inside of it. Donnie was the one that was carrying the canister in his arms.
"So that's the..." Leo started.
"Mutagen that turned us all into what we are now," Donnie said.
"Wicked," Mari muttered, transfixed.
"Let's drink some!" Mikey said.
"Oh! Yes!" Cat squealed.
"What? Why would either you do that?" Raph questioned in disbelief.
"Cause if you mutate a mutant, you get a super mutant," Mikey said.
"I bet I'll be super adorable!" Cat gained an excited sparkle in her eyes, reaching for the canister, but Donnie pulled it away before she could touch it.
"Or a pile of goo on the sidewalk," Donnie told them.
"Either way, it's an improvement," Raph said. "For both of them."
Cat gasped, offended.
"Guys, this is huge," Leo said, "Whoever kidnapped those people are somehow connected to what happened to us fifteen years ago."
"How is that possible?" Donnie said, staring at the canister.
"For alien robots, anything is possible," Mikey said.
"Alien robots with brains where there shouldn't be brains!" Cat corrected.
"Stop that," Donnie said, exasperated. "There are no such thing as alien robots with brains!"
"Oh, yeah?" Mikey said in a challenging time, walking over to where the man currently sat, fearing for his life. "Well, if there's no such thing as alien robots, how do you explain this?" He tried to peel his face off, but to no avail.
"Aah! Aah! My face!" the man yelled out in pain.
"Man, this mask is glued on tight!" Mikey groaned, still trying to pull the 'mask' off.
"Mikey, stop!" Leo ordered, stepping forward. "It's not a mask."
"Which makes no sense," Cat muttered, crossing her arms.
"It very much does," Mari, who stood next to Cat, said.
Mikey stopped pulling the guy's face. "Okay. He's in the clear. But those other guys were totally alien robots," Mikey claimed.
"Will you get off of that?" Mari demanded.
"No!" Mikey and Cat yelled.
"Enough!" Raph said, grabbing the mutagen Donnie was previously holding. "Time to get some answers." He pulled the guy's shirt, one hand still on the canister. "Who are you, and what's going on?"
"Name's Snake, and I got nothing to say to you hideous freaks," the man said.
"I'm not hideous," Cat muttered. with a slight pout.
"Oh, well, that's 'cause you don't know us yet," Raph said, throwing Snake over to his siblings. Snake tried to get away but Donnie and Mikey held each of his arms, while Cat, Mari and Leo stood behind him.
Raph walked over to him, holding up the mutagen for him to look at. "See, we were just regular guys and girls until we got hit with a little of this," Raph told him, twisting the top off as he talked.
"Wha-what are you doing?" Snake asked.
"Playing a little game I like to call Mutation Roulette. Now you could turn out handsome like me, or you might end up disgusting and deformed, like Mikey and Cat here," Raph said with a grin.
"Hey!" Mikey protested.
"I'm not disgusting!" Cat shrieked, really tired of all of these insults.
"So, you feel lucky?" Raph asked, ignoring his brother and sister. He was about to pour the mutagen on to Snake, when he finally decided to talk.
"Okay, okay!" Shake quickly said. "They call themselves the Kraang. They been grabbing scientists from all over the city."
"Well, that worked out pretty good," Leo told Raph.
"Of course it did. Would you wanna look like Mikey? Or worse, Cat?" Raph questioned.
"The mere thought disgusts me," Mari said, only half teasing.
"We're right here," says Mikey.
"I. Am. ADORABLE!" Cat insisted, extremely loudly, so everyone covered their aching ears.
"What do they want with scientists?" Leo asked Snake, staring warily at Cat.
"I don't know," Snake said blankly. Raph held up the mutagen so Snake continued talking. "All I know is they're taking them out of the city tonight, but I don't know where!"
"This is awesome!" Donnie exclaimed. "That girl's dad is a scientist. I'm a scientist. She is so gonna like me."
"Priorities, Donnie!" Cat clapped in his face.
"I don't think you're her type," Snake told Donnie drily.
"I suddenly like this guy." Mari grinned, but Snake seemed revolted at the comment.
"Where are they now?" Leo asked.
A few moments later the turtles are on the rooftops while Snake is held prisoner. Mikey and Cat were elected to keep watch, though Mari wasn't sure why they were trusting the two biggest idiots on the team with this.
Leo was using a telescope to look down at the smaller building. "There's gotta be, like, twenty of them down there," he said, referring to the identical men that Mikey and Cat claimed to be aliens robots with brains in their chests. They had guns, too.
"Yeah, and that's just the ones we can see," Mari said.
"All right!" Raph said, swinging his twin sai. "An all-you-can-beat buffet!"
"Ooh! A buffet? Where!" Cat suddenly appeared next to them, causing them to do double takes.
"Aren't you supposed to be watching Snake?" Mari asked her.
"That was boring and Mikey's still watching him," Cat said, as if that explained everything.
"Okay, whatever," Mari said, pulling out her tanto. "So we goin' or what?"
"We can't just rush in there," Leo said. "We need a plan."
"Why?" Raph and Mari questioned in disbelief.
"Think, you shellbrains," Donnie told his older siblings. "There are innocent lives at stake. If we screw this up, they're all goners."
"Then we won't screw it up," Raph said, as if it was obvious.
"Boy, I could sure go for some of that pizza right now, huh?" Mikey said, suddenly next to them. Everyone, except Cat who found a Shiny dime on the ground at that moment, looked at him. " What? I can't be the only one that's hungry."
"I'm hungry," Cat said. "Is this edible?" She held up the dime.
Raph smacked it out of her hand, causing her to huff angrily.
"Where's Snake?" Leo asked Mikey worriedly.
"Oh yeah, I left you to watch him!" Cat said, suddenly remembering.
"And then I realized that it wasn't fair," Mikey said, but then gasped and looked to where Snake had once been, but he was no longer there. Snake had taken off running. "Oh, geez..."
"Get him!" Leo ordered.
They jumped off the building, Snake still ahead of them. Leo, Raph and Mari took off running in one direction, and Donnie, Mikey and Cat ran in the other direction. Donnie and Mikey came to a halt, but Cat ran smack into a wall and fell back, dizzy.
"Note to self, you cannot go through walls above the sewers," Cat muttered.
"Maybe he went over the wall," Donnie said.
"I'm on it!" Mikey said, and Donnie threw him over
"I'm next," Cat says, because that looked like fun. But then Donnie and Cat heard a bunch of noises and crashes, including Mikey's several screams, causing Cat to wince. "Never mind..."
"Ow. I don't think he went this way," Mikey yelled at them from the other side.
Elsewhere, Leo, Raph and Mari stopped running. Leo saw something weird in the corner and got a hunch. He gestured to his siblings, and they both looked in that direction.
"Oh, great. We let him get away," Leo said, acting.
"Whoa, whoa. You're the leader," Raph said. "That means you let him get away."
"You're not helping," Leo hissed.
"I'm not trying to help," Raph said.
"Leo, our great leader, why don't you come up with a brilliant plan?" Mari said monotonously.
"Okay, okay. You want me to lead?" Leo asked. "Fine. We go back to the lair, gear up, and at midnight, we drive Snake's van right up to the gate. They'll think we're him, and we'll cruise right in."
"And then we bust some heads?" Raph asked.
"And then we bust some heads," Leo confirmed.
"I love a happy ending," Mari said, and the three of them walked away, knowing full well that Snake was listening to their conversation.
Back in their lair, Raph was talking.
"I know you're a little worried about me," Raph was saying. "Look, I'm not gonna lie to you. We've never gone into a fight like this, and I don't know what's gonna happen. But you don't have to worry. I will make it back. I love you, man." Raph was getting teary eyed as he concluded.
"Aww. Are you talking to your pet turtle?" From behind Raph, Mikey asked teasingly, causing Raph to turn around in a panic, to see his two younger siblings - Mikey and Cat - grinning at him.
"No. Shut up!" Raph yelled, embarrassed.
"That's absolutely adorable," Cat said, her head resting in her hands.
"Oh, I'm gonna crush you two!" Raph yelled. Realizing that he was completely serious, Mikey and Cat quickly took off running. "I'm gonna shellac you!"
As they ran, Raph managed to get a few hits in, causing them to let out screams.
Elswhere...
"I think this plan is gonna work," Leo told himself confidently.
"No plan ever survives contact with the enemy," Splinter said, coming up from behind him, causing Leo to glance at him. "It is how you react to the unexpected that will determine if you and your brothers and sisters succeed."
"Sensei, do you think I'm ready for this?" Leo asked him, unsure of himself and Splinter's decision.
"Leonardo," Splinter said, placing a firm hand on his oldest son's shoulder, "I made you leader for a reason."
"What is that reason?" Leo asked.
"That is for you to discover on your own," Splinter said wisely.
"But there's so much riding on this," Leo protested. "What if something goes wrong?"
"Failure is a possibility every leader must face, Leonardo," Splinter told him. "It is something I had to face in Japan during my final battle with my enemy, the Shredder," he began the flashback story. "Years ago, Oroku Saki, as Shredder was called then, had been my friend, but the love of a woman came between us. He could not accept it, and his jealousy turned outward in a vengeful attack. And while he could not defeat me that day, my world fell and crumbled around me as the battle took the life of my beloved Tang Shen, and I lost my baby daughter, Miwa," he finished sadly, his hand placed against the wall, turning away from his son.
"But that's my point, sensei," Leo told him. "You lost everything."
"I lost many things," Splinter agreed, still facing the walls, his eyes closed. "My family, my home, my name." He stopped talking, Leo looking to the ground. He turned around and gazed at his son. When he picked up taking, Leo looked up at him. "But I gained many things as well, like the six of you."
"Don't worry," Leo said, suddenly filled with determination as he clenched one of his fists. "We can handle this.
Suddenly, both Mikey and Cat ran by screaming, causing Leo to widen his eyes as the two teenagers and an angry Raph, carrying his weapon ran past him and their sensei.
"Get back here!" Raph demanded.
"Can't you scream quieter!" Mari yelled from her bedroom.
Leo exchanged looks with Splinter and then groaned.
-
"They'll be here any minute," Snake said, standing guard in front of the building, holding a large gun. Three identical men that call themselves the Kraangdroids stood behind him, also with guns.
"Kraang, are those who are coming to this place coming to this place?" Krang 1 asked.
"I lack that knowledge, Kraang," Krang 2 said. "I will inquire of Kraang about that knowledge. Do you have the knowledge if those coming to this place are near this place, Kraang?"
"They're turtles!" Snake snapped, annoyed with the Kraang's way of talking. "Call them turtles! 'Are the turtles here?'"
Kraang 3 was standing above them and he pointed. "There are lights of a vehicle which contain that which you wish us to call the turtles coming to this place which you wish us to call here," he said.
"What are you talking about?" Snake demanded.
He turned around and saw a van heading toward them. All the kraang - more of which appeared - started shooting at it. Everyone moved out of the way as the van veered closer to them. The truck crashed into the hideout as Snake drops back. A big explosion went off. Some of the mutagen landed on Snake and he begin to mutant into something horrible.
The Kraang checked the van but didn't see anyone. "The ones coming to this place are not in the vehicle bringing them to this place," one of the Kraang said.
"Then in what place are the ones called the turtles?" Kraang 2 asked.
On the nearby wall, the six turtles were climbing it, wearing climbing claws that Donnie had crafted them before they left.
"Wow," Mikey says, glancing over in the direction of the Kraang, "lucky thing that van showed up to distract them."
"Definitely," Cat agreed, nodding solemnly.
Donnie facepalmed at his younger siblings stupidity, forgetting that he was wearing climbing claws. "Ow!" he exclaimed.
"That was the plan, Mikey, Cat," Leo told them. "We knew snake was hiding in the alley, so Raph, Mari and I made him think we would be in the van."
"But we weren't in the van," Mikey said, confused.
"Yeah, we're over here?" Cat made it sound like a question.
"How about you idiots just keep climbing?" Mari questioned, exasperated.
"Can do," Mikey chirped. And then frowned. "But I'm not an idiot."
"Yes, you very much are," Mari said with a slight snort.
"I'm still very confused," Cat said, glancing over at Mikey, who nodded in agreement.
"You always are." Raph rolled his eyes. "Now like Mari said, keep climbing!"
"How about we all just shut up and climb," Leo snapped. "We're wasting time!"
"Okay, fine," Cat said.
"No need to go all boss mode on us," Mari muttered.
"I am your boss!" Leo said. "How many times do I got to say keep climbing?"
"One was enough," Mikey pointed out.
And so the six - rather annoyed - turtles continued climbing the wall,
Mari threw the vent to the ground, causing the two kraang that saw the fallen vent to look up at them. Leo and Raph has no problem taking them out. Their brothers and sisters jumped down after them, all with their weapons ready.
"Wow, I've never seen anything like this," Donnie looked around in wonder. "They're using a metal alloy that I don't even recognize."
"Gosh! A metal alloy even you don't know about! It boggles the mind," Raph said sarcastically.
"Dude, you wanna talk metallurgy with me?" Donnie challenged. "Bring it."
"I don't, and-" Raph started.
"Guys!" Leo interrupted, staring at them. "What part of being in an enemy lair do you not understand?"
"In other words, shut the fuck up," Mari said.
The continue on and around the corner, they saw the Kraangdroids walking around, much to their shock.
"Whoa. Are those... alien robots?" Mari questioned with a sickening feeling. Not because those exist, but because certain annoying siblings of hers ended up being right.
"Alien robots, huh?" Mikey said sarcastically, glancing at Cat. "Hmm, where have I heard that before, Cat, I wonder."
"It's not like we've been saying it for hours!" Cat yelled at her older siblings, except Mikey, who was also peeved at them.
Cat's small outburst caught the attention of the kraangnoids and they began shooting, so the six turtles began to attack them. It was an easy feat for the siblings. After they were done, they all stared at one of the fallen robots. The pinkish alien brain pops out of the body and screeches at them. The four of the oldest siblings screamed, but Mikey whacked it, while Cat merely rolled her eyes.
"See? See? Look at it! We told you!" Cat said, holding up the brain, only for her to feel disgusted. "Oh my god, this is gross. Mikey, you take it!" She tossed it over to her brother, and he picked up where Cat left off.
"It's a brain thing!" Mikey said. "We told you! We told you! But did any of you believe us? No! 'Cause you all think We're just some boneheads!"
The kraang screeches awake and bites him on the arm. Mikey tried to get it off but it sent flying onto Cat's face and out of sheer panic, she quickly yanked it off and threw it against the wall, causing it to hit a button triggering the alarm. It screeched and ran off. Mikey and Cat exchanged guilty looks.
"Mikey! Cat!" their siblings yelled.
"Okay! But we were still right about the brain thing," Mikey pointed out. "You gotta give us that."
Cat hurriedly nodded in agreement.
"Let's move," Leo said, beginning to walk.
"Move where?" Mari questioned.
"I think those are power conduits," Donnie said.
"Oh! That's really interesting! Thanks for sharing, Donnie," Raph imputed sarcastically.
"Meathead, the conduits are all converging that way, which means that whatever is going on in that direction is important!" Donnie exclaimed, walking forward.
Leo grinned at Raph and gestured that they were definitely going to follow the genius. Cat skipped by, giggling and Mari smirked lightly at her older brother as she walked past him. Raph was getting annoyed.
"You got spanked," Mike said, giving Raph the finger guns, only for him to grab his fingers and squeeze them. "Ow! Ow! Mercy!" Raph finally let's go and sulks forward, while Mikey sucks his pained fingers and then follows after his siblings. "Not cool."
The ran though the hallways and Donnie stopped at one of the advanced cell doors and saw the man and the girl inside of it, as he looked through the window of it. "We found 'em!" Donnie said, and then peered down at the mechanical lock.
Kraang ran forward and began shooting at them, before Donnie could let the humans out. His brothers and sisters readied their weapons.
"We'll hold them off!" Leo said, his twin katanas in his hands. "You pick the lock." He, Raph, Mari, Mikey and Cat rushes forward, slicing through the robots.
"Don't worry!" Donnie said, his attention on the humans. "I'll have you out of there in a second."
"Okay, giant lizard-thing," the girl said, a bit unsurely.
"A turtle, actually. I'm... I'm Donatello."
"April." The girl smiled.
"Wow, that's a pretty-Omph!" Donnie's head smacked against the window as Leo accidentally bumped into him
"The lock, Donnie!" Leo demanded.
"Yeah oh, right, yeah!" Donnie said. "Sorry." He began to pick the lock, as his brothers and sisters were fighting quite a bit of robots. More just seemed to appear.
"Not to rush you, but hurry up!" April demanded in sheer panic.
"Hey! You think it's easy trying to pick a lock with these hands?" Donnie wiggled three big fingers.
"Uh, sorry."
Raph threw a robot away from him and Mari and then angrily stomped over to Donnie and pushed him. "Oh, for the love of-get out of my way!" Raph started to stab the controls with his sai while the other kraang saw what they were doing. Raph managed to get the door opened, only to see April and her father being dragged away by Kraang from the other side.
As more kraang shot at them, the six turtle siblings ran through the cell and went outside from the other side. "Get the door!" Leo demanded.
Mari went to close it, only for one of the kraang to get lodged in between. Mari rolled her eyes, grabbed her tanto with one arm and chopped off the kraang's arm. Mari used the robotic arm to block the door. She turned around to see all of her siblings staring at her - Leo, Donnie, Mikey and Cat with widened eyes, while Raph was grinning.
"I think we're good for now," Mari said, but then noticed the way her brothers and sister were looking at her. "What? Do I have something in my teeth?"
"You are seriously twisted," Leo told her.
"Aw, that's so kind of you to say!" Mari gushed.
"No! Let me go!"
The turtles all turned to see April and her father being carried off by the Kraang by their arms. They were heading toward the helicopter.
"Let's get 'em!" Leo said.
They follow after them but soon stopped when a new mutant appeared in front of them. it looks like a plant with flytrap tongues a heart in the throat and a face of a mantis.
"This can't be good," Cat said, gulping.
"You did this to me! Now you're going to pay!" the weed said angrily, as the turtles nervously backed away, their weapons in their hands.
"It's Snake!" Leo realized. "He mutated into a... Giant weed!"
"Can I just be the first to say that we have terrible luck?" Mari said.
The thing screeched and growled.
"That's weird," Mikey said, facing Raph and Cat. "You'd think he'd get mutated into a snake."
"Yeah, you would," Raph said, "if you were an idiot!"
"But his name is Snake," Mikey said.
"So?"
"You don't understand science," Mikey told him.
"Well, I do, and him turning into a weed hardly makes sense," Cat says, her finger to her chin. "Maybe he was lying about his name?"
Raph merely facepalmed.
The plant mutant that was previously a human man named Snake, screeched, as his feet rose up. "I'll crush you turtles!" Snake said, looming over them. If they were able to, the turtles would have paled at the sight.
"Uh, would it help if we said it was an accident?" Donnie questioned nervously. His fly trap hands began chomping on thin air in a threatening manner.
"I think that's a no," Mari said, holding up her tanto.
One of the weed arms came down and the turtles jumped up to dodge. Except for Cat - she was tripped by it and fell to the floor with a groan. Leo jumped up and sliced off the weed's arm, causing purple stuff to spew out of it.
"Eww! Eww!" Mikey said, who was on the ground, quickly backed away. "Don't let it touch me! Don't let it touch me!" Some of the purple stuff fell on his leg. "AAH! IT TOUCHED ME!"
The vine that Leo had cut off grew back, impressing Snaps.
"What?" Mari demanded. "I don't suppose our arms would grow back too, huh?" she questioned sarcastically.
"Let's not try it." Cat looked nauseated at the mere thought of it.
The Kraang took the humans aboard the helicopter, April throwing one last scared look in their direction.
"Donnie! Go!" Leo yelled.
Determined, Donnie ran forward and jumped on Leo's out reached hands. Leo gave him a bust stop of a higher rooftop, and Donnie ran toward the helicopter as his siblings continued the fight with Snake.
"And Yuck," Raph muttered as he was sprayed with some of the purple stuff, after cutting through Snake, but that didn't have any effect. Snake threw Raph into his siblings, and Mikey and Leo managed to catch him.
"Snakeweed is really powerful!" Mikey commented.
"Snakeweed?" Raph questioned.
"Yeah! His name was Snake, and now he's a weed, so..."
"We get it!" Raph snapped
"I call naming the next one," Cat said.
"Let's hope there's not a next one," Mari grumbled.
"We just have to hold it off until Donnie gets back," Leo said, holding one of his swords in front of his chest. The the door bangs open and the kraang came out. "While not getting shot by alien robots."
"With brains!" Mikey and Cat said in unison.
"Let it go, guys," Raph said.
"And talking like that is unsettling," Mari said.
All five of them were on the ground, not able to keep up with Snakeweed and the kraang. "What's the plan again, chief?" Raph questioned.
"I'm working on it." Leo said, as Snake grabbed him by the legs and started swinging him around.
"If the plan is getting our butts kicked, it's going accordingly!" Mari yelled up at her brother.
"Whoa! The power conduits," Leo said.
"Are we really gonna start talking about that again?" Raph questioned.
"Perfect. Raph! Mari! Mikey! Cat!" Leo used hand gestures and his siblings nodded.
Raph, Mari, Mikey and Cat made silly faces to grab the kraangs attention. The Kraang began shooting at them so they took off running, which caused the kraang's shooting to hit Snakeweed and for him to back up right in an power generator.
Donnie had managed to save April and the both of them found the turtles still fighting Snakeweed and the droids. "What are they doing?" Donnie questioned to himself and April. "They're leading him straight toward that power generator! That's incredibly stupid! Or brilliant. Or-or both!"
"Hey, come and get me, stinkweed!" Leo called.
The kraang still attack just as Snakeweed gets hit by the generator and he explodes into flesh. They succeed and they left along with April.
After the battle and making sure April was okay - with promises to help her save her father - the turtles were back under the sewers in their lair. Leo was sitting in front of Splinter.
"I am impressed, Leonardo," Splinter said. "You proved to be an effective leader under the most difficult of circumstances."
"Thank you, sensei," Leo said. And I think I figured out why you made me leader.
"Oh? Why is that?" Splinter questioned.
"Because you sensed inside me a true warrior's spirit that could forge us all into the heroes we are destined to become," Leo said, so sure that he was correct.
"No," Splinter said bluntly, only confusing his oldest son.
"Then why did you make me leader?" Leo asked.
"Because you asked," Splinter said.
"That's it?" Leo questioned. "But you seemed so certain you were right."
"As a leader, you will learn that there is no right and wrong, only choices," Splinter said.
"So you could have chosen any of us?"
"Yes."
"Even Mikey?" Leo questioned in disbelief. "Or Cat?!"
Splinter placed a hand on Leo's shoulder. "No," he said. "That would have been wrong."
"Everybody! Come here! We made the news!" Mikey yelled from the living room, so Splinter and Leo joined Mikey, Cat, Mari, Donnie and Raph in the living room who were eagerly listening to the news on TV.
Carlos Chang, the news person was saying: "A report of get this ninjas in New York. Don't believe me? After residents reported a disturbance, the police recovered this." It showed a symbol. "For channel six news, this is Carlos Chang O'Brien Gambe saying, "Hi-ya!"
"This is awesome!" Mikey said, high threeing Cat . We're gonna be famous!"
"I hope I look cute enough," Cat squealed.
"You never do," Mari said, which only offended Cat... again.
"You must be more careful," Splinter told them gravely. "The ninja's most powerful weapon is the shadows. Being brought out into the light is a dangerous thing."
"Relax, sensei," Raph said. "It's one little news story. What's the worst that can happen?"
"Yeah," Cat agreed. "It's not like because of this we're going to have to fight someone who is destined to be our worst enemy."
