I DO NOT OWN BRIDGERTON.
Bridgerton house. London, England. The next day.
I spent the remainder of the day just going through the motions. A small part of me was thankful that Melanie made me binge watch this crap, for I would have never been able to master the regency lingo otherwise. I found myself enjoying keeping company with Gregory and Hyacinth. It was nice to have younger siblings to play with. Even Eloise's disdain for the feminine restrictions of the regency era were entertaining; if exhausting at times.
We eventually had lunch and dinner while Daphne's presentation into society was always the topic of conversation. Daphne was overjoyed and almost everyone was overjoyed for her; sans Eloise of course. I for one, just applauded Daphne and tried to get through the evening meal as best I could. I'd never really cared for formal dinners. They were always far too stuffy for my taste. You're just having dinner with your family, not with Queen Charlotte. Why does one have to dress up for a simple family dinner?
Eventually, it was finished and after an hour of leisure, everyone retired for the night; Gregory and Hyacinth reluctantly so. I bid my own good nights as I got dressed in regency sleepwear and hit the sack. I assumed that the dream would surly end and I would wake up in my dorm room with Melanie by my side and I could enchant her with my recounting of my adventure. I'm still waiting...i'm still waiting today.
Opening day of the 1813 Social Season.
The next morning, I woke up and to my horror, I found that I was still in Colin Bridgerton's body, bed room, and life. It was clear that this was no longer a dream, it was my reality for the foreseeable future. Even worse, today was the start of Daphne's romance with Simon "Duke of Hastings" Basset and Colin ended up getting that subplot with Marina Thompson getting knocked up. I didn't have much time to think as Colin's manservant came in and began dressing me in Colin's finest suit since we would be going to Buckingham Palace to have all the eligible ladies present themselves to Queen Charlotte. Once I was up to the nines, I joined the other Bridgertons in the foyer as Daphne was taking for freaking ever to get ready.
"I am already roasting." Eloise griped as she came down the stairs.
"Are you to complain the entire day, Eloise?" Francesca asked as she followed her.
"Surely I cannot be expected to bear these fashions the entire day?" Eloise continued.
"I feel like a princess. Do I look like one?" Hyacinth asked with glee.
"Do you truly wish to know what I think you look like?" Eloise asked with annoyance.
"On your left!" Gregory exclaimed as he grabbed a ribbon from his sister.
"Oh, Gregory!" Hyacinth yelled as I went over to greet my sisters while trying to remember what Colin had said in the episode.
"Is our dear sister still not ready?" Benedict inquired.
"She's only been readying herself the entire night." Francesca said with cheek.
"You mean her entire life." Eloise snapped.
"I shall run upstairs and hasten her along." I quoted, even though I had no desire to do so.
"Colin, wait. I'll do it." Benedict argued.
"She likes me better than you, Benedict."
"Did she say that?"
"Everyone says that."
"DAPHNE! You must make haste!" Eloise roared as the entire house came to a standstill. "Should you think she heard me?" After a few more minutes, Daphne finally emerged and we got into the carriage. As we prepare to leave, the Featheringtons did as well. Eloise and Penelope waved to each other and I got a real good look at Penelope Anne Featherington. To be honest, Nicola Coughlan was a huge celeb crush of mine and seeing her as Pen had always made the show more bearable. Pen was beautiful, intelligent, and she knew that she wanted. There was something just lovely about her, despite her venomous persona as Lady Whistledown.
"Any sign of him yet?" Violet asked as Benedict shrugged. "Should your brother wish to be obeyed as Lord Bridgerton, he must act as Lord Bridgerton. Where is he, Benedict?"
"I do not know." He said honestly. I knew that he was bumping bellies with his opera singer, but Violet didn't need to know that; so I kept my mouth shut and off we went.
Buckingham Palace. Later that morning.
After we arrived at the large and lavish royal palace, which was honestly more exquisite than the pictures I had seen of it. The eldest Bridgerton boy finally arrived.
"Anthony, you are here?" Daphne said with surprise.
"Of course I am here, Sister. I'd never miss such an important day for you and our family." Anthony assured us all.
"No, you would just be late for it." Violet rebuked as she offered him her arm. "Shall we?" We went inside and I was stunned by the sight of the decor throughout the palace. The designs and the portraits were amazing to behold.
"Colin, for God's sake, don't dawdle." Anthony chided as I kept getting sidetracked. We then entered the throne room and once Queen Charlotte, who looked just as intimidating in real life as on the show, appeared with her ladies, the show got on the road.
"Miss Prudence Featherington, Miss Philipa Featherington, and Miss Penelope Featherington; all presented by their mother, the Right Honorable Lady Featherington!" The herald announced as Penelope, her bitchy sisters, and her even bitchier mother walked in. I tried to offer Penelope a comforting smile, but she was too nervous to notice. After they curtsied, Prudence promptly fainted from her corset being too tight. It took everything I had not to laugh at the sight. Let's be honest, she deserved some humility.
"Miss Daphne Bridgerton, presented by her mother, the Right Honorable, the Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton!" The herald announced again after a few more ladies were presented. Daphne and Violet made their way to Charlotte and after a few moments, the Queen came down and selected this season's Diamond.
"Flawless, my dear." She said as she planted a kiss on Daphne's head.
"Now the show truly begins..." I said to myself as I watched Daphne the Diamond shine brilliantly.
