Don't have a summary yet, but it should be clear what the idea is.
Luz ran through the woods with all her speed. She wanted to look behind and see if they were still chasing her, but she was afraid. She doesn't know what happened to her mom, but she hopes she's still alive. She stopped and leaned against a tree, breathing heavily. She wanted to just stop and rest, but she heard movement behind her. She started running again and after a while, she tripped over a log. She heard the voices getting closer and she looked around. She saw a rock and put a hand on it.
"Please work. Please work. Please work."
Luz felt her body change and, when she opened her eyes, she was a rock. She wanted to be happy that she managed to shapeshift, but she had to close her eyes as people ran past her. She waited a few seconds before turning back and running in the opposite direction. She ran until she was grabbed and pulled into a cave. She closed her eyes and started swinging. She stopped when she heard the persons voice.
"Mija, calm down." Camila said.
"Mom?" Luz asked, "What's going on?"
"Luz, you know how we're Shape-Shifters?"
"Yes."
"Well, our race has been hunted for years. These people think that Shape-Shifters are a prize trophy, like a deer to normal hunters." Camila said, "I need to get to an old contact."
"What do you mean?" Luz asked, confused by the whole situation.
"Luz, I can't explain everything, but I can tell you that there is a government agency that deals with this. I need to get to them."
"So, we have to go to them." Luz said.
"No, I do. You will go somewhere else." Camila pulled out a key with an eye, "Take this and press on the eye when you're safe. Find a person called Eda Clawthorne. Tell her who you are and that I'm your mom."
"Mom-"
"Please, just trust me Mija." Camila cupped Luz's cheek, "I love you, Luz. Please be safe."
Luz hugged her mom.
"I will."
Luz took off, sprinting to the edge of the forest. Camila looked on, afraid that this was the last time she'll see her daughter. Camila shook those thoughts out of her head and held her arm out. She whistled and a hawk landed on her arm. She rubbed her hand against the bird and felt her shape change to match it. Camila flew into the sky and flew in the opposite direction of Luz.
