Summary: All it took was one night at a bar for Camila to end up as a single mother. As if that couldn't get any worse, Luz's father came back a few years later, which led to her learning about a world she never knew.
Camila looked at her sleeping daughter. She was barely four, and putting her to sleep is one of the hardest things she can do. She closed Luz's bedroom door and walked downstairs. She got to rest a little when she heard a knock on the door. She got up and answered it. She nearly slammed the door shut when she saw who was on the other side.
"What are you doing here?" Camila growled.
"I see you remember me."
"It's hard to forget." Camila said, "Again, why are you here?"
"Simple, I want to see OUR daughter." He said.
"H-h-how do you know about Luz?" Camila asked, nervously.
"I have my ways." He said, "If you're worried I'll take her from you, then don't fear. The last thing I want to do is rip a child away from her mother. I just wish to see her."
Camila thought about it for a minute, before opening the door.
"Fine."
He walked in and Camila led him upstairs. He was about to go in when Camila placed a hand on his chest.
"Be quiet. She's sleeping."
Camila slowly opened the door and they looked at the toddler. He looked closer and saw Luz's mouth open. That's when he saw it, fangs... baby ones at least. That's what he was worried about. He lightly grabbed Camila by the arm.
"We need to talk."
They went back down the stairs and they sat on the couch.
"Can I... get you something to drink?" Camila asked.
He looked at her.
"Trust me, there's nothing in that fridge that I'll be able to drink." He said.
"So, what did you need to talk about?" Camila asked.
"I want to be involved in Luz's life." He said.
"What? We had one night and you leave, then you want to come back, expecting to just be a part of her life!?"
"You don't understand." He said.
"No, you don't understand! You left! You don't get to dictate whether or not you are involved in her life!"
He stood up and looked at her.
"You're the one that doesn't understand. She's different." He said.
"I don't want you anywhere near her!"
He opened his mouth and his eyes turned red, terrifying Camila.
"Y-y-you're-"
"A vampire?" He said, "My name is Cadell Bloodborne, King of Vampires, Eldest son of Dracula. We need to talk about this. She's half vampire, one day she's going to unlock the full extent of her powers. Do you really want to see what happens when her hunger takes over?"
"What do you expect to do?" Camila asked.
"From what I can tell, she'll most likely unlock her powers by her fourteenth birthday." He said, "Here's what we'll do, she doesn't need to learn the truth until she unlocks her powers. I'll bring my family over a few times each year, she'll get to know me and her half-sister, so by the time she learns the truth, she'll already know about me."
"And what will happen then? When she unlocks them?" Camila asked.
"She'll spend the summer with me, learning about them, and how to control them." He said, "I know, that I messed up that night, but I can help her. I'm not asking you to forgive me, but I am asking you to trust me."
Camila looked down, from the sounds of it, she doesn't have a choice.
"Fine, but you will have to explain it to her when the day comes."
"That's fair."
He got up and walked to the door.
"Wait, where are you from? Transylvania, or something like that?"
He chuckled.
"A common misconception. My father lived between there and our home during that period in Human history. He will never tell me how he became the ruler or how he was involved with a human war." He said, "But I come from another dimension. The birth place of vampires, witches, demons, and all other kinds of legends. A place called the Boiling Isles."
