What Was, No Longer

Crete, Greece - Chania Town

The traditional Cretan homes are built with local stone, giving them a rustic and timeless appearance. Traditional red-tiled roofs are a distinctive feature. Wooden beams and shutters are common and the homes often feature beautiful courtyards or gardens, perfect for enjoying the Mediterranean climate.

Diana looked around Caitlin's cozy home.

"Your home is lovely," she smiled.

"Thank you. It's not as luxurious as the Villa."

"It's still home and much more warm with having your children with you."

Caitlin handed Diana a cup of coffee.

"What about you? If you don't mind me asking. Who are you hiding from?"

"I'm not...hiding. I just needed to get away. Something happened and I felt that it would just get worse with me around."

"You don't need to blame yourself for anything. Men will try to put all the blame on you."

Diana raised her eyebrows realizing what she was saying.

"Oh no, no. I'm…no…" Diana shook her head slightly and sighed thinking about Kal. "My…best friend. I left without him knowing. I know that once he realizes I'm gone, he will be hurt. He was there for me but I had to leave for him and everyone else. He can't worry about me. As much as I miss him right now…it's for the best."

"Dear…whatever happened, you can't run away from it. I should be taken my own advice but, you are such a beautiful young woman. You have so many more years ahead of you."

"I just need some time and then maybe I can go ba-"

"OH WOW!!! YOU ARE HER! YOU ARE WONDER WOMAN!" Milo said jumping up and down excited.

"Milo, go to bed."

"Wait! Please, Mamá!" Milo held up a newspaper clipping. "You are her, right?!"

Caitlin looked at Diana surprised.

Diana placed her cup down on the table.

"I am sorry for my intrusion. I should go."

"Wait! Wonder Woman, please don't go!" Milo hurried to her hugging her.

Diana looked down holding back her tears. She gently placed her hand on his head ruffling his hair.

"Young one…I'm sorry. But no, I am not."

"You look just like her when you saved us! I have a Wonder Woman toy! I can show you!"

"Maybe next time, Milo. I'm sorry. But it was just self defense training I've done over some years."

"I drew Wonder Woman too! She is my favorite!" Lydia said running towards Diana with her drawing.

"It's lovely, Lydia," Diana smiled.

"One day, we will meet Wonder Woman! She's so cool! Superman, too!"

"What happened in the states…how tragic. Wonder Woman made a great sacrifice that many of us are grateful for, though I pray for her well being with her loss."

Diana's heart fluttered. "I…thank you so much for your hospitality. But I must go."

"Where will you be going now?" Caitlin asked. "It's awfully late. I don't mean to pry."

"Oh, no. It's not prying. I'll be going to the Villa up the hill."

"That's quite a walk. And…I'm just so surprised of someone staying there. It's quite expensive."

The Villas had contemporary designs with sleek lines and modern amenities that were common in newer constructions. Spacious interiors with open floor plans to maximize light and space. Many modern villas included private pools, large terraces, and high-end finishes.

"Before everything went array, my best friend and I were planning a vacation and I was going to surprise him. I bought the villa for us to have a vacation home together."

"Oh, how nice!"

"When things seem better, I'll contact him. But for now, that will be my home alone."

"Ophelia, I would like to repay you in some way. Please come back in the morning and have breakfast with us."

"Oh, I don't want to be a bur-"

"Please."

"I…yes." Diana smiled and nodded. "I will be here tomorrow morning."

Milo and Lydia cheered hugging her again.

Diana's heart fluttered as she hugged the children back.

After a long and challenging mission, Kal and Diana found themselves on top of a high-rise building, watching the sun set over the city. Kal wrapped his arm around Diana, pulling her close. She smiled, laying her head on his shoulder, feeling the comfort and strength he always provided.

"You know," Diana began, her voice soft and dreamy, "one day, we should take a long vacation together. To Greece. There's a beautiful villa on top of a hill with the most gorgeous view."

Kal looked down at her. "No," he said, his voice playful, "nothing is more gorgeous than you are."

Diana looked up at him, still smiling, her heart fluttering at his words. They both leaned in, their faces inches apart, but then they pulled back, laughing at the same time. Kal, still chuckling, leaned in and kissed her cheek gently.

He then entwined their fingers, holding her hand tightly. "Yes," he said, his voice filled with promise, "we will go to Greece and have a wonderful time."

They sat there in silence, watching the last rays of the sun disappear below the horizon.

Diana stood alone in the grand villa nestled on the cliffs of Crete, the clear waters of the Aegean Sea stretching out before her. The villa was a masterpiece of classical architecture, with white marble columns and expansive windows that invited the moonlight to dance across the polished floors.

As she walked through the downstairs, she admired the spacious living room adorned with plush, cream-colored sofas and intricate tapestries depicting ancient myths. The kitchen, with its rustic wooden beams and modern appliances, was a blend of old-world charm and contemporary convenience. A large dining table, crafted from dark oak, stood as the centerpiece, surrounded by high-backed chairs.

Ascending the marble staircase, Diana reached the upstairs where the bedrooms were located. Her room was a sanctuary of tranquility, with a large canopy bed draped in sheer, white curtains. The balcony doors were open, allowing a gentle breeze to carry the scent of blooming jasmine inside. She stepped out onto the balcony, her eyes sweeping over the lush gardens below.

The back patio was a haven of relaxation, with comfortable loungers and a shaded pergola entwined with vibrant bougainvillea. Beyond the patio, the backyard stretched out, featuring a sparkling infinity pool that seemed to merge with the sea. The sound of waves crashing against the cliffs provided a soothing soundtrack to the serene setting.

Diana sighed deeply, her heart heavy with longing. She wished Kal were here with her, to share in the beauty and peace of this place. But she knew he was needed elsewhere. The world needed Superman. She tried to convince herself that it was for the best, that her absence was for the greater good.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she thought of him, his strong arms and comforting presence. She missed him terribly. Her thoughts drifted to her mother and sisters, all of whom were gone. The pain of their loss was a constant ache in her heart. A surge of rage bubbled up within her, but she fought to calm herself.

Closing her eyes, Diana hugged herself tightly, imagining Kal's arms around her, offering solace. She took deep breaths, focusing on the memory of his touch, his voice, his love. Slowly, the rage subsided, replaced by a bittersweet sense of peace.

Meanwhile, Justice League WatchTower

Victor and Bruce had been working tirelessly to decode the tape recordings from the intense battle between Diana and Lord Havok. The atmosphere was tense, the air thick with unspoken worries and frustrations.

Clark, his jaw clenched and eyes blazing with anger.

"You were wrong, Bruce," he said, his voice low but filled with fury. "You turned your back on Diana when she needed us the most."

Bruce, ever the stoic, met Clark's gaze with a calm demeanor. "You need to calm down. We're all doing our best to find her."

"Calm down?" His voice rose, echoing through the Watchtower. "How can I calm down when Diana is gone? I can't hear her heartbeat anywhere, Bruce! I can't pick up on her voice either. The woman I love is missing, and I have no idea if I'll ever see her again."

Victor looked up from his work, his mechanical eye whirring as he processed the data. "Big Blue, we're all worried about Diana. I just need a few more days. The tech used here is something I haven't encountered. Far more complexed than anything. All it takes is one wrong move."

Clark took a deep breath, trying to rein in his emotions. "I know, Vic. I'm sorry. It's just that every second that passes feels like an eternity."

"We will find her."

Clark nodded, though the anger and worry still simmered beneath the surface. "I'll make the public press statement as we are releasing the footage," he said, his voice steadying. "But after that, I'm off the team until I find Diana. I can't focus on anything else until I know she's safe."

Bruce and Victor exchanged a glance, understanding the depth of Clark's resolve.

Bruce sighed. "I can't stop you. No matter what I say."

The next day…The Villa

Diana woke up in a cold sweat, her heart pounding as the echoes of her nightmare lingered in the dimly lit villa. The battle with Max Lord had been brutal, and in her dream, she saw her mother and sisters fall, their voices haunting her with accusations. "It's your fault," they whispered, their faces twisted in pain and sorrow.

Shaking off the remnants of the nightmare, Diana rose from her bed, her body heavy with grief. She made her way to the bathroom, the cool tiles grounding her as she stepped into the shower. The water cascaded over her, washing away the sweat and tears, but not the guilt that clung to her heart.

After drying off, she dressed in a black gown and a matching cloak, the color reflecting the mourning that weighed on her soul. As she fastened the cloak around her shoulders, a soft knock echoed through the villa. Diana hesitated, her hand hovering over the door handle. She took a deep breath and opened the door to find Milo and Lydia standing there with bright, eager eyes.

"Good morning, Miss Ophelia!" Milo exclaimed, his sister nodding enthusiastically beside him. "We came to make sure you come to our house for breakfast!"

Diana's heart softened at their innocent excitement. She forced a smile, the warmth of their presence a small comfort against the darkness of her thoughts.

"Thank you, little ones. I'll be there shortly," she promised, her voice gentle despite the sorrow that lingered in her eyes.

As the children ran off, Diana closed the door and took a moment to steady herself. She knew she had to face the day, to find strength in the small joys and the kindness of others, even as she carried the weight of her nightmares.

Diana took a deep breath and made her way to the Caitlin's house. As she approached, the smell of freshly made bread wafted through the air, bringing a small smile to her lips.

Milo and Lydia burst through the door, their faces lighting up with joy.

"Miss Ophelia is here, Mamá!"

Lydia grabbed her hand and pulled her inside. She giggled, her eyes sparkling with excitement of Diana's presence.

The kitchen was warm and inviting, filled with the sounds of sizzling pans and cheerful chatter. Caitlin turned from the stove, her face breaking into a welcoming smile.

"Good morning, Ophelia. I'm so glad you could join us."

Diana nodded, her heart feeling a bit lighter. "Thank you for having me," she replied. "Do you need any help?"

"No, I've been taking my time already. This little one here will not let me rest. Keeps me up on my feet. It's not tiring, though. With Mathias gone, the stress and strain I've felt has subsided."

"If there is anything still, I'll be more than happy to help."

"You are such a kind young lady, Ophelia. Please sit. You are our special guest. You did more last night defending us from Mathias than anything else that could be done."

Diana took a seat at the table. The children quickly joined her, their enthusiasm infectious.

The table was laden with a delightful spread: freshly baked bread, golden and crusty; a variety of cheeses, from creamy feta to sharp graviera; ripe tomatoes and cucumbers, glistening with olive oil; and a bowl of honey, its amber sweetness inviting. There were also plates of olives, figs, and a selection of pastries, including delicate bougatsa filled with custard.

Across from Diana sat Milo, his eyes wide with curiosity, and Lydia, who giggled as she tried to balance a piece of bread on her nose. Caitlin was quite serene with a gentle smile, radiating a calm, nurturing energy.

"How do you find the villa, Ophelia?" Caitlin asked.

"It's lovely," Diana replied, her voice carrying a hint of sorrow. "But I do wish things were differently."

Caitlin tilted her head, intrigued. "Your accent is so distinctive," she noted. "You sound as if you are native to here, but also from somewhere else."

Diana's thoughts drifted to her mother and sisters, the strong and loving women who had shaped her life.

"Being here in Greece does remind me of home," she said softly. "It was an unknown island. I traveled to the States, but my heart always finds its way back to these shores."

Milo smiled. "I'm glad you're here," he said simply.

Diana's smile widened. "So am I," she replied.

As they ate, the children chattered about their plans for the day, their laughter filling the room. Diana found herself relaxing, the weight of her earlier sorrow easing with each passing moment. The bread was delicious, and the simple act of sharing a meal brought a sense of normalcy that she desperately needed.

Milo leaned over, his eyes wide with curiosity. "Miss Ophelia, can you tell us a story about being in the states?"

Diana hesitated, but the eager faces around her gave her the courage to speak. She began with her voice steady and calm, finding solace in the children's rapt attention.

"I had multiple occupations. The one I cherished the most was…teaching."

"Oh, you were a teacher?" Caitlin asked.

"Yes. Professor at a university. I traveled a lot as well. Charity work…"

"Wow! You were a very busy young woman. All of that you left behind?"

"I…" Diana looked down. "I had no other choice."

Caitlin saw the sadness returning to Diana's eyes.

Milo looked up at his mother with hopeful eyes. "Mamá, can Miss Ophelia walk me to school today? I want to show her to my friends."

The mother smiled warmly. "That's a wonderful idea, if Ophelia doesn't mind."

Diana nodded, her heart touched by Milo's request. "Of course, I don't mind at all."

"Well hurry to finish getting ready, Milo."

"Yes, Mamá!" Milo ran to his room for his shoes and book bag.

"Thank you, Ophelia. I really didn't want Milo walking alone. Matheus seems disgusted stepping even a foot within this house. But he feels he has the streets on his side."

"I understand. No harm shall come to Milo."

"Ready! Let's go, Miss Ophelia!"

Milo grabbed Diana's hand pulling her to stand up.

"Okay…okay…" Diana laughed.

"Will you be back, Miss Ophelia?" Lydia asked.

"Yes, I will. I will be helping your mother as well."

"Yay!"

"Oh, Ophelia. If you have other things to-"

"You don't need to be on your feet all day, Caitlin. I will help."

"You are a godsend, Ophelia."

Milo pulled Diana to the front door.

"Bye, Mamá!"

"Behave! And have a good day, Milo!"

"I will!"

As Diana and Milo walked towards the school, the morning sun casting a gentle glow over the path, the Milo couldn't stop smiling.

Diana noticed and asked softly, "Why are you smiling so much?"

Milo looked up at her with wide, innocent eyes. "You're Wonder Woman."

Diana stopped walking and her eyes widened in surprise. "Is that why you wanted me to walk with you?"

He shook his head vigorously. "No, I just feel safe more than ever that Wonder Woman is here and it's so cool to have as my new friend! Is your real name Ophelia, Wonder Woman?"

She knelt down to his level, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"Thank you for trusting me. But you must keep it a secret for now, okay? We all need to stay safe. As for my real name…just call me Ophelia. I promise, when things get better, I'll have Superman come to meet you."

Milo's eyes lit up with excitement, and he cheered, "Really?! Superman?!"

Diana nodded with a smile. "Really."

As they continued their walk, Milo's excitement was contagious, and for a moment, Diana felt a sense of peace. The simple joy of a child's trust gave her the strength to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Approaching the school courtyard, a group of Milo's friends gathered around.

"Hey, Milo! Who's this?" one of the kids whispered, nudging his friend.

"Miss Ophelia! She's new! Lives in the villa at the top of the hill."

"We heard our parents talking about someone living in the villa," another added, "but we didn't know it would be her!"

One of the girls smiled shyly at Diana. "You're so pretty," she said, her cheeks turning pink.

Diana smiled warmly at the children, her heart touched by their innocent admiration. She noticed other parents nearby, their curious gazes and hushed whispers following her. It was clear that her presence in the villa had sparked a lot of interest and speculation.

Kneeling down to Milo's level, Diana gently squeezed his shoulder. "Have a good day at school," she said softly. "I'll be back after to walk you home."

He beamed up at her. "Thank you, Miss Ophelia!"

As she stood up and turned to leave, she could still feel the eyes of the parents on her, their curiosity palpable. Diana walked away with a sense of purpose, knowing that despite the whispers and stares, she had made a small but meaningful connection with the children. It was a reminder that even in the midst of her own struggles, she could still bring light and hope to others.

Diana took a deep breath, reminding herself that their curiosity and interest was natural. After all, she was a new and mysterious presence in their community.

She made her way back to Caitlin's, maintaining a calm and composed demeanor, offering polite smiles to those she passed. She understood that her presence might raise questions, but she also knew that her actions and interactions would speak louder than any rumors or whispers.

Her heart remained heavy with thoughts she couldn't quite shake. Approaching the house, she saw Caitlin sweeping the porch. She greeted her with a warm smile.

"Thank you again, Ophelia," Caitlin said, her hand resting gently on her growing belly. "Come on inside, seems we will have another heatwave today."

Diana nodded, grateful for the distraction. Diana immediately set to work, helping with the chores. She washed dishes, folded laundry, read books to Lydia, and even helped prepare a meal. Caitlin watched her with a knowing look.

"You know, Ophelia," she began softly, "If you ever need to talk, I'm here. I can tell so much is weighing on you."

Diana paused, her hands stilling over a dish. She took a deep breath, her eyes reflecting the turmoil within. "It's just... complicated," she admitted.

Caitlin nodded, understanding. "Sometimes, talking helps. Have you thought about calling him? Letting him know you're okay?"

Diana's eyes softened at the mention of Kal. "I want to," she confessed. "I want to hear his voice, but I can't have him looking for me right now. He worries too much, and he needs to focus on his priorities."

Caitlin smiled gently. "Maybe because you are a priority for him. Sounds like he's definitely more than a friend."

Diana's cheeks flushed slightly, and she smiled shyly. "Maybe," she whispered.

After finishing the chores, Diana prepared to leave.

"Thank you for everything," Caitlin said.

Diana nodded. "I will be back to walk Milo home from school."

Caitlin handed Diana a basket of fruits, cheeses and bread she had prepared for her. "Remember, it's okay to lean on others sometimes."

Diana left the house, her heart a little lighter. As she walked back to the villa, she couldn't help but think of Kal and the comfort his voice would bring. But for now, she had to stay strong and keep her distance, even if it was the hardest thing she'd ever done.

Back at the villa, Diana took a moment to reflect. She decided that the best way to handle the attention was to be open and approachable. She would continue to engage with the community, showing them she was just another neighbor who cared about their well-being.

In the days that followed, Diana made an effort to be more visible in the neighborhood. She greeted parents with a warm smile when she saw them, helped out at local events, and even shared a few stories with the children. Slowly but surely, the whispers began to fade, replaced by genuine smiles and friendly conversations.

Diana knew that building trust took time, but she was willing to put in the effort. She found solace in the small connections she made, each one a step towards healing and finding her place in this new community.

Back in Metropolis, Daily Planet

Clark was at his desk, typing away on his latest article, when the newsroom doors burst open. Colonel Steve Trevor stormed in, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on Clark.

"Kent!" he shouted, causing heads to turn. "I need to talk to you. Now!"

Clark stood up, his brow furrowed in confusion. "Trevor? Why are you here?"

"What the hell happened to Diana? Where is she?!" Steve demanded, his voice filled with urgency and anger.

"Diana? Wait? Isn't that-" Cat began to question.

"Quiet Grant!" Lois his her arm.

Clark and Steve went into nearby conference room, Steve slamming the door behind them.

"Tell me where she is right now or I swear to God I'll have you locked in confinement!" Steve yelled.

"Woah! What did Clark do?!"

Suddenly Bruce Wayne appeared.

"Bruce! What a nice surprise!" Lois exclaimed.

"I need a word with Kent."

Everyone looked bewildered. Lois, Cat, and Jimmy pointed in the direction of the conference room.

As Bruce calmly opened the door, his presence as imposing as ever, Steve looked back.

"I need answers from both of you!"

"Calm down, Trevor," Bruce said annoyed.

Clark sighed. "I've been looking for her."

Steve's eyes narrowed. "Have you really? How could you not know where she is?"

Clark's frustration bubbled to the surface. "I'm doing everything I can to find her!"

Steve scoffed, his expression hardening. "I warned her about you. I told her you were no good, that you'd throw her away when she wasn't the perfect pretty princess to be on your arm. And now look at what happened. You replaced her on the Justice League like she was nothing. It's a shame how you never valued her like I do."

Clark's eyes flashed with anger. "You know damn well that's not true! She wasn't replaced! She could never be replaced! I love Diana deeply, and I will find her!"

"You don't love her! Not like I do!"

"Out of the way, Trevor." Bruce pushed him. "Clark, we've decoded the tape recordings of the battle with Havok," his tone low and serious.

Clark's eyes widened. "What did you find?!"

Batman handed him a small device. "Listen for yourself."

Clark pressed play, and the room filled with the sounds of the brutal battle. He heard Diana's voice, strained and desperate, and the cruel taunts of Lord Havok.

The recording ended with a chilling silence, and Clark's hands clenched into fists, his anger boiling over.

Bruce placed his hand on Clark's shoulder. "Calm down. We need to-"

Without a word, Clark stormed out of the room, his mind set on one destination: LexCorp.

"Where the hell is he going?!" Steve questioned.

"Stay out of this. This is something Clark needs to handle."

Steve's eyes flashed with anger. "I'm tired of you thinking you can control everything because of your money, Wayne! I care about Diana too more than he ever has! I won't just sit by!"

Batman shook his head and stepped in front of him. His eyes narrowed. "I've watched for far too long. You want to play hero thinking Diana will run to you. That's not happening. Diana has moved on. You should, too."

With that, Bruce walked out of the room, leaving Steve standing there, frustration etched on his face.

Lois peeked into the room. "Anything you have to say, Colonel for a story?"

Steve frowned. "Yeah…The Justice League is a joke…a bunch assholes who think they are all so high and mighty. They are the cause of Havok's attack, especially Superman. They will all fall and face the consequences."

LexCorp

Inside, Lex Luthor sat smugly in his office, unaware of the storm brewing outside. Suddenly, a deafening crash shattered the silence as the windows of the LexCorp building exploded inward, sending shards of glass flying.

Superman hovered in the air, his eyes glowing with fury. He flew into the office, grabbing Lex Luthor by the shirt and lifting him off the ground.

"Where is she, Luthor!?" Superman's voice was a low growl, filled with barely contained rage. "Where is Wonder Woman!?"

Luthor's smirk faltered for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. "I have no idea what you're talking about, Superman," he sneered. "But I must say, I do enjoy seeing you so... emotional."

Superman's grip tightened, and for a moment, it seemed as though he might crush Luthor right then and there. But before he could act, a shadowy figure stepped into the room. "Superman, stop!" Batman's voice was calm but firm. "This isn't the way."

Superman turned to face his friend, his expression a mix of anger and desperation. "Like hell it is! He's the reason she's gone. He caused Themyscira's destruction!"

Batman stepped closer, placing a hand on Superman's shoulder. "I know you're angry, but she wouldn't want you to do something you'll regret. We need to find her, not lose ourselves in revenge."

Superman hesitated, his grip on Luthor loosening slightly. He took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm inside him.

"You're right," he said finally, releasing Luthor and stepping back. "But this isn't over, Luthor. Not by a long shot."

As Superman flew from his office, the tension in the air was palpable.

He took a deep breath, his mind racing with thoughts of Diana. He would search every corner of the earth if he had to, and he wouldn't rest until Diana was safe in his arms again.

The Villa

Diana sat in the quiet solitude of the villa, a sudden, powerful presence filled the room. She looked up to see Zeus, her father, standing before her, his expression a mix of concern and determination.

"Zeus…" Diana stood up quickly. "You shouldn't be here!"

"Diana," he began, his voice resonating with divine authority, "I sense you are contemplating a change."

Diana's eyes narrowed, her heart heavy with unresolved grief. "Why didn't you intervene? Why didn't you save my mother and sisters?" she demanded, her voice trembling with emotion.

Zeus sighed, his gaze softening. "I could not alter the course of fate, my daughter."

"Don't call me that!"

"Their fates were beyond my control. But I could revive you, for it is your fate to remain among the mortals. Or come to Olympus with me. It is your birthright. Your home."

"No, I will never call Olympus my home." Diana shook her head, her resolve firm. "I am no longer worthy of my gifts, nor do I need them. Take them."

Zeus studied her for a long moment, his eyes filled with a father's love and sorrow. "Are you certain, Diana?"

"Yes," she replied, her voice steady. "Do this for me. It's the least you could do."

With a heavy heart, Zeus raised his hand, hesitating for a moment. Instead of stripping her powers entirely, he decided to repress them, knowing that they could only be unlocked by something or someone truly special to Diana. But he kept this sentiment to himself.

As he began the process, Diana felt an intense pain surge through her body, the accumulated injuries from her battles over the years manifesting all at once. Her eyes, once a striking silver, faded to a deep blue.

Zeus leaned down and kissed her forehead gently. "Take care, my daughter," he whispered with love and regret.

And with that, he disappeared, leaving Diana to grapple with her new reality, her powers dormant.

The weight of everything that had happened crashed down on Diana. She collapsed to the floor, her body wracked with pain and her heart heavy with sorrow. Tears streamed down her face as she lay there, feeling the full extent of her loss and the burden of her decision.

Diana's sobs echoed through the silent rooms, each tear a testament to the grief and guilt she carried. She cried for her mother and sisters. Hippolyta, standing tall and regal, her eyes filled with pride and love. The warmth of her mother's embrace, the wisdom in her words, and the strength she had always drawn from her presence.

Her sisters fierce and unyielding, always ready to protect and guide the camaraderie they shared, and the unbreakable bond that had united them. She cried the battles she had fought, and for the uncertainty of her future without her powers. She cried thinking back to the first time she met Kal-El, his kind eyes and gentle smile. The way he had looked at her, not as Wonder Woman, but as Diana. Their shared moments of quiet intimacy, the strength they drew from each other, and the love that had blossomed between them.

In that moment of vulnerability, Diana allowed herself to feel every emotion, every ounce of pain. The villa, once a place of solace, all of a sudden now felt empty and cold.

Metropolis

As Clark prepared to address the world, his heart ached with the weight of his love and fear for Diana. He knew the journey ahead would be difficult, but he was determined to find her, no matter the cost. The Justice League would continue their mission, but for Clark, nothing mattered more than bringing Diana back home.

He stood before a sea of reporters and cameras at a hastily arranged press conference. His expression was resolute as he addresses the world.

"Today, I bring to light the truth about Wonder Woman's recent battle with Lord Havok," he begins, his voice steady and powerful. "The tapes we have uncovered prove that Wonder Woman made the right choice in dealing with Havok's deadly threat. Her actions were not only justified but necessary to protect not just our world, but every planet and dimension." He paused, letting his words sink in. "I stand by Wonder Woman and every decision she makes to ensure our safety. She is a hero of unparalleled courage and integrity." He then shifted his focus to Lex Luthor. "Furthermore, I must expose the corruption of Lex Luthor, who seeks to manipulate the upcoming election for his own gain. His actions are a threat to the very fabric of our society."

As Superman speaks, Batman and Cyborg released the recordings of Lord Havok's sinister plans to the world. The evidence is irrefutable, and the public is left in shock. Clark Kent's article advocating for Wonder Woman was also circulating around.

Wonder Woman's Triumph and Tragedy

By Clark Kent, Daily Planet

In a world often overshadowed by darkness and despair, heroes emerge to remind us of the light that still exists. One such hero is Wonder Woman, whose recent battle against Lord Havok, also known as Maxwell Lord, has once again proven her unwavering dedication to protecting our world.

Lord Havok, with his insidious plans to plunge the world into chaos, seemed unstoppable. His forces wreaked havoc across continents, leaving destruction in their wake. But in our darkest hour, Wonder Woman stood tall, her resolve unshaken. With her indomitable spirit and unparalleled strength, she faced Lord Havok head-on, a beacon of hope for all who witnessed the battle.

The fight was fierce, and the stakes were higher than ever. Yet, through sheer willpower and bravery, Wonder Woman emerged victorious. Her triumph over Lord Havok was not just a victory for her, but for all of humanity. She reminded us that even in the face of overwhelming odds, courage and justice can prevail.

However, this victory came at a great personal cost. Themyscira, the island of paradise that Wonder Woman calls home, was not spared from the devastation. The once serene and beautiful land now lies in ruins, a stark reminder of the sacrifices made in the name of peace. The loss of Themyscira is a wound that will take time to heal, not just for Wonder Woman, but for all who cherished its beauty and tranquility.

As we celebrate Wonder Woman's heroic deeds, let us also remember the sacrifices she has made. Her story is a testament to the power of love, courage, and unwavering commitment to justice. In honoring her, we honor the very best of humanity.

Before any questions can be asked, Superman looks directly into the cameras. "We will not rest until justice is served and peace is restored."

With that, he took off into the sky, ending the press conference and leaving the world to process the revelations.

The public's reaction to the news is a mix of shock, sadness, and anger. Many people are stunned by the revelations about Lex Luthor's corruption and the extent of Lord Havok's plans. The recordings released by Batman and Cyborg have left no room for doubt, and the evidence was overwhelming.

"No! No! No! Damn you!" Lex Luthor threw his phone down. "Driver! Hurry up and turn around!"

But it was too late. Sirens were coming from different directions surrounding his car.

Support for Wonder Woman surged as people recognize the difficult choices she had to make to protect them. Superman's support for her further strengthened their faith in the Justice League. Social media was flooded with messages of gratitude and solidarity, with hashtags like #StandWithWonderWoman and #JusticeForAll trending worldwide.

There are, of course, some who question the methods used, but the majority of the public seems to understand the gravity of the situation and the necessity of the actions taken. The exposure of Lex Luthor's corruption also sparks a wave of calls for accountability and justice, with many demanding his immediate withdrawal from the election and legal action.

Overall, the public's response is one of unity and a renewed trust in their heroes, as they rally behind Wonder Woman and the Justice League in their fight to keep the world safe.

Back at the Watchtower, the atmosphere was tense as the Justice League members gather for an urgent meeting called by Superman. As they assemble, Superman stands at the head of the table, his expression a mix of disappointment and resolve.

"Thank you all for coming," he began, his voice steady but tinged with emotion. "I called this meeting because I need to address something important. I am deeply disappointed in how some of you turned your backs on Diana. She has always been a pillar of strength and integrity, and she deserved our all of our support."

The room fell silent, the weight of his words sinking in. Many of the heroes look down, regret evident on their faces.

Superman takes a deep breath before continuing. "Effective immediately, I am resigning from the Justice League. My priority now is finding Diana and bringing her back safely. In my absence, Kara will be joining the League. She has proven herself time and again, and I trust her to uphold our values."

Kara, standing beside him, nods. The League members are shocked by Superman's decision, but they also feel a deep sense of regret for their actions against Diana.

"We need to remember why we formed this team," Superman's voice firm. "To stand together, to support each other, and to protect this world. I hope you all will reflect on this and ensure that we never let each other down again."

With that, Superman turned and leave the room. The Justice League members are left to process his words, feeling the weight of their mistakes and the resolve to make things right.

Clark felt a deep, unrelenting ache in his heart, missing Diana more with each passing day. Every morning, he woke up with thoughts of her, her radiant smile and her laugh. He spent his days tirelessly searching for her in Boston and London, visiting her favorite spots: the cozy café where they shared countless conversations, the serene park where they often trained together, and the quiet library where she loved to read. Each place held precious memories, and he clung to the hope that he might find a clue to her whereabouts.

At night, Clark laid awake, staring at the ceiling, his mind filled with worry and longing. He replayed their last moments together, wishing he could have done more to protect her. The emptiness he felt without her by his side is a constant reminder of how much she means to him.

Meanwhile, trying to keep herself busy to avoid the pain of her dearly missed, Diana continued to help Caitlin with chores and trips to the market, her kindness providing much-needed support. Yet, despite her busy days, the nights are the hardest. Alone in the quiet villa, she felt the full weight of her loneliness. She cried, her heart aching for her mother, sisters and Clark, and struggled to sleep, plagued by nightmares and the pain of their separation.

Metropolis: Clark Kent's Apartment

Clark came home, his body weary from another long day of work, his mind reeling from Lois interrogating him.

"So you aren't going to say anything about why the hell Colonel Trevor and Bruce Wayne were here a few days ago?

"No, Lois it's none of your business."

"It is my business, when Trevor made a statement. What are you trying to hide? How are you tied up with this Justice League mess? Wonder Woman's disappearance?"

"I said it's none of your business, Lois! I mean it!" Clark shook his head and walked away.

He sighed, collapsing onto the couch.

Suddenly, a soft glow filled the room, and he looked up to see Eros, the God of Love, standing before him.

"Eros?!! What-"

"You need to calm down to clear your mind, Kal-E"," Eros said gently.

Clark sat up quickly, his frustration boiling over. "I'm tired of everyone telling me to calm down when Diana is missing!" he snapped. "The gods should have protected her and her family!"

Eros sighed, his expression sympathetic. "We could not intervene, Kal-El. There are rules even we must follow."

Clark's eyes blaze with anger. "You pick and choose what you want to meddle in. It's not fair."

"There is more at play here."

"This isn't nor shouldn't be a game, Eros! You know where Diana is. Tell me now or I will bring down Olympus!"

"I'm not saying that. What I mean is that such as life, there are challenges that will be faced. Inner fears, life's tests. The love you have for her is a powerful force, Kal-El. You know exactly where Diana is. You know her heart, and you know your own."

Clark paused as Eros's words echoed.

"Somewhere close to home…."

Clark remembered when he and Diana were talking about taking a vacation to Greece. Diana had smiled, her eyes lighting up as she said, "It reminds me of home."

The realization hits Clark like a bolt of lightning. "She's in Greece," he whispers, his heart pounding with renewed hope.

Eros nodded, a small smile playing on his lips before disappearing.

Clark quickly grabbed his phone.

"Arthur? I need your help."

With Diana

The rain poured down in a steady rhythm, creating a soothing yet melancholic atmosphere. Diana walked through the quiet streets late at night, her thoughts heavy with memories. Suddenly, she hears a faint, desperate meow. She stopped, her heart quickening, and followed the sound until she spots a very small calico kitten, no more than four weeks old, shivering in the rain.

"Oh, you poor thing," Diana gasped.

"Me-ow."

She gently picked up the tiny kitten, cradling it in her arms. She looked around, searching for the kitten's mother or any other kittens, but there are no other cats in sight.

Unable to find where the kitten belongs, Diana decided to take it back to the villa with her.

"You are alone, like I am. Well, no longer, little one."

Once inside, she dried off both herself and the kitten, wrapping it in a soft towel. She warmed some milk and carefully feeds the kitten, watching as it eagerly laps it up.

It was then that Diana noticed the most enchanting detail, a perfect heart-shaped patch of fur on the top of the kitten's head.

"You are such a beautiful little ball of fur," Diana whispered.

After the kitten was fed and content, Diana watched as the kitten explored her new surroundings, her tiny paws padding softly on the floor. She then climbed onto Diana, seeking warmth and comfort, curling up under her neck, her tiny body rising and falling with each breath. Diana smiled softly, feeling a small sense of solace in caring for the helpless creature. As the kitten falls asleep, Diana gently strokes her fur, finding a moment of peace in the kitten's gentle purrs.

The next morning, Diana took the kitten to visit Caitlin, Milo and Lydia.

"Miss Ophelia!" Milo and Lydia cheered.

"Good Morning, little ones. I brought a new little friend."

Milo and Lydia's faces lit up with excitement as they saw the tiny kitten.

Milo's eyes wide with curiosity, asked, "What's its name?"

Diana smiled gently and replied, "I don't know yet."

The kitten purred contentedly, snuggling into the warmth of Diana's embrace.

"Can we pet it?"

"Of course!"

"Just be very gentle," Caitlin said.

"Yes, Mamá!"

"Oh my…I haven't seen such a small kitten in a while. You didn't see the mother?"

"No. Even before coming here, I went back to where I found her and no other was around."

"I fear the worst then. It was with luck and grace that you found her."

The kitten jumped from Milo's arms pitter patting back to Diana. Diana smiled and picked her up and kissed the top of her head.

"She's a sweetheart for sure."

"Meow!" The kitten snuggled within Diana's hands purring.

"A kitten so small choosing you as her caretaker speaks to your spirit, Ophelia."

"Me? Chosen?"

"Just as the night you saved us, you saved her. Ophelia, you have brought good fortune here. You are a light that we all didn't know we needed around here. You still have yet to tell me of what truly led you to be here and that's okay. But things will or seem to be getting better for you. You still have to call your friend at some point as well. I think that will also alleviate the rest of your worries."

"I just need a little more time. I just don't know still."

Caitlin nodded understanding. "You will have your answer soon enough."

Later that night, the rain began to fall again, a steady patter against the villa's roof. The kitten, frightened by the sound, started meowing loudly. Diana woke up and, seeing the kitten's distress, scooped her up in her arms.

"It's alright. It's alright."

Deciding to show the kitten that the rain is nothing to fear, Diana stepped outside, holding the kitten close.

"It won't hurt you," she said softly.

The kitten looked around, its eyes wide with wonder. It tentatively jumps into a small puddle, but quickly retreated back to Diana's feet, shaking off the water.

Diana laughed, a light, joyful sound that cuts through the night. She picks up the kitten, holding it close to her chest. "See? It's just a little rain. It will go away soon."

As she stood there, feeling the rain on her skin and the kitten's tiny heartbeat against her, an idea comes to her. "Raini," she says softly. "I'll call you Raini Amora. The sadness washes away with the rain and the brightness of love follows."

Raini purred contentedly, and Diana felt a small sense of peace. Despite the storm outside, she found comfort in the simple act of naming her new companion.

The next day…

Diana walked gracefully along the cobblestone streets, the gentle rain adding a serene ambiance to the day. Perched on her shoulder was Raini and beside her, Milo and Lydia walked hand in hand, their faces lit with excitement.

As they strolled on to the market, a man approached them with a confident swagger.

"Good afternoon, beautiful lady. Names Haris," he said, his eyes lingering on Diana. "Seen you around for weeks now. Finally have my chance for a little chat. It must be lonely staying in that villa all by yourself."

Diana, unimpressed, gave him a polite but firm smile. "I'm not alone," she replied, her hand reaching up to gently pet Raini, who hissed at Haris.

Haris chuckled, trying to brush off the rejection. "Ah, but surely you could use some real company," he persisted. "You know, give you a good time."

Milo, catching the exchange, couldn't help but laugh.

"Haris always tries to find a wife, but no one wants to marry him," he laughed. "Mamá says he's lazy, but he thinks he can find a lady who believes he's strong and can fight."

Diana raised her brow. "Really? Your mother is very wise," she said, giving Milo a wink. "I have important things to tend to, Haris. I'm just fine without the unwelcome and unwanted company."

"Oh come on, don't listen to the little brat."

Diana frowned, not saying another word and continued her walk with the children leaving Haris muttering to himself.

Meanwhile, Metropolis Café

Clark sat surrounded by his friends, Carol, Hal, Arthur, and Mera. The atmosphere was tense, everyone focused on the topic at hand, Diana.

Carol leaned forward, her eyes earnest. "Clark, I know for sure now. There's no denying what's between you and Diana. That bond…the love shared prevented the Red Lantern ring from taking over her. But she needs your help."

Clark nodded, his expression determined. "I know," he said. "You said her heart stopped?"

"Yes. When the ring is rejected or taken off, the life force of the host is taken. Diana rejected the ring. But the miracle is that she was somehow revived."

"But I can't pick up on her heartbeat. I need to know what happened. What changed with her," Clark replied. "Any updates Arthur?"

"Still searching, Clark. But as soon as we get word, we'll let you know."

Arthur and Mera had a special ability to communicate with sea creatures. When Clark suggested using sea creatures to monitor the shores for Diana, Arthur and Mera coordinated with the dolphins and other marine life to keep an eye out for her.

The Villa

Diana stood in the bathroom of the villa, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Her reflection staring back at her with a mixture of resolve and sorrow Raini sat on the counter, watching her intently. The past month had taken a toll on Diana she had lost a significant amount of weight and looked exhausted from the sleepless nights plagued by nightmares.

With a deep breath, she closed her eyes, the weight of her decision pressing down on her. Holding a dagger in her hand, Diana spoke softly to Raini, her voice tinged with sadness. "I remember when Mother brushed my hair. She said it flowed like an endless river. Well, no more."

With a determined look, Diana raised the dagger to her long, flowing hair and with a swift motion, she cut through the strands, shoulder length, feeling the resistance give way.

When she opened her eyes, she saw her hair cascading to the floor in soft, dark waves. The sight was too much to bear. Tears welled up in her eyes and spilled down her cheeks.

She thought back to how Kal, his gentle touch, and the way he would unconsciously reach to run his fingers through her hair mid-conversation, a gesture so intimate and tender when lounging with Kal after a sparring session. The moment he was so determined and concentrated on learning how to braid her hair. His fingers fumbled at first and she couldn't help but smile at his earnestness.

Diana's sobs grew louder. The villa felt emptier than ever, the memories of happier times only amplifying her loneliness. She sank to the floor, clutching the remnants of her hair.

Elafonissi Beach

A few days later, Diana was walking along the beach, the waves gently lapping at her feet. The tranquility of the scene was suddenly interrupted by a dolphin that appeared and flipped happily before swimming back into the ocean. Her eyes widened in surprise, and a soft smile spread across her face. She watched, bemused by the beautiful yet odd encounter.

The moment was brief, but it left her feeling a sense of wonder and connection to the natural world around her.

Arthur wasted no time and called Clark. "We've found her," he said.

Clark's heart soared with relief and joy. "Thank you, Arthur."

Little did Diana know, this delightful interaction was a sign that her friends were looking out for her, and that Clark was on his way to her.

Daily Planet

Clark walked into Perry White's office, his heart heavy with urgency. "Mr. White, I need some time off. It's an emergency," he said, trying to keep his voice steady.

Perry looked up, concern etched on his face. "What's going on, Kent? You haven't been at the top of your game at all for a while."

Clark hesitated, then sighed deeply. "My…best friend... she's…she's trying to stay strong, but I know she needs me now more than ever after losing her family. I can't let another day, hour, or minute go by without being with her."

Perry's expression softened with understanding. "No further explanation, Son. Take all the time you need. I've been in love with my wife for over 40 years. I understand."

Clark felt a wave of gratitude. "Thank you, Mr. White."

As Clark left Perry's office, he noticed Lois Lane and Cat Grant nearby, clearly having tried to eavesdrop.

Lois smirked and teased, "Clark, you shouldn't go chasing after a woman who's not into you."

Clark's jaw tightened, but he kept his composure. "Lois, sometimes it's best to stay in your own damn lane. I have no time for this. I have to go take care of something actually important."

Cat Grant, sensing the tension, looked concerned. "Wow…I've never seen Clark like this. Something must be really wrong. I hope he'll be okay."

Clark walked away, his mind focused on getting to Diana. He knew that every second counted, and he was determined to be there for her, no matter what.

Titans Tower

Clark's last stop was Titans Tower, the T-shaped building standing proudly on a small island off the coast of San Francisco.

As he landed on the rooftop, he was greeted by Donna. Donna was like a sister to him too. She knew the complications of Clark and Diana's relationship rooting for them to finally take that step together. She rushed to him, wrapping him in a tight hug.

"Clark, it's good to see you," Donna said, her voice tinged with worry.

Clark hugged her back, feeling the weight of her concern. "Don't worry, Donna. I'm going to bring Diana back. I promise."

Donna pulled back slightly. "You better," she said with a small, teasing smile. "And while you're at it, tell Diana how you really feel about her."

Clark laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head. "I'll try," he replied, his voice betraying his nerves.

Donna hugged him again, tighter this time. "Please, Clark. Only you can convince Diana to come back."

With a final nod, Clark took off into the sky, heading towards Greece. He knew he had to find her, to bring her back to others who loved and missed her. And maybe, just maybe, he would find the courage to tell her his truth of being in love with her.

He couldn't help but think of Diana's reaction seeing him and what he would even say or do first seeing her. Memories of Diana flooded his mind of their playful moments, the way her laughter could light up his world, and the warmth of her touch. He knew that finding her was just the beginning, he need to be there to support her and he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, as long as they were together.

When he finally arrived at the beach, the sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the sand and waves. The vibrant colors and lively atmosphere did little to ease his anxiety. There are only a few people in sight and none of them Diana.

He made his way to walk through the busy market of Crete, his eyes scanning the crowd as he asked people if they had seen her, showing a picture of her from his phone.

As he moved through the throng of people, a young girl accidentally bumped into him. Clark looked down, and his breath caught in his throat. The girl had a striking resemblance to Diana, and there was something familiar about her that tugged at his heart.

The little girl handed him a single red rose.

"Are you selling flowers? Do you have more?"

The young girl just shook her head.

"Okay. Well I need to get to a bank for an exchange. Wouldn't be right still not to pay you. Hey, by the way have you-….Wait!" Clark called out as the girl ran off.

He started to follow her, but then an alluring voice humming a familiar tune caught his attention. He turned and saw a tall woman wearing a midnight blue cloak, picking out fresh fruit from a nearby stall.

Clark's heart pounded as he hurried towards her. He approached quietly and said softly, "Hey, Songbird."

The woman turned around, her eyes widening in surprise.

"Clark," she whispered, a mixture of shock and nervousness in her voice.

She was indeed Diana.

Clark smiled, his eyes filled with emotion. "I've been looking everywhere for you."

Her initial surprise quickly turned to misguided anger. She spun around and began walking away briskly, leaving Clark confused.

He hurried after her, calling out, "Diana, wait!"

"Go back, Clark," she said, her voice tense. "You shouldn't be here."

Clark shook his head. "No, Diana. I'm not going anywhere."

Diana continued to walk quickly, trying to put distance between them. Though Clark caught up with her grabbing her arm.

"Diana, talk to me."

She yanked away from him. "No! You need to leave now!"

"Not without you!"

In a swift motion, Clark swooped her up and flew into the sky. Diana gripped his shirt tightly, her fear evident.

Clark, puzzled by her reaction, asked, "Why are you scared, Di?"

"I don't have my ability to fly anymore," Diana admitted, her voice trembling.

Clark finally able to look into her eyes and noticed they were no longer the familiar alluring silver. Concerned, he gently descended back to the ground.

"Diana?"

He held her close feeling her tremble. Her body didn't feel the same, her heartbeat was different, her eyes held so much sadness and she looked tired.

"Tell me what happened."

"I need to get back to the villa for Raini."

"Raini? Who's Raini?"

Diana didn't answer. She just began walking into the direction of the Villa while Clark followed her.

When they reached the villa, they were greeted by Raini, who hissed protectively at Clark.

Clark was taken aback when Diana took off her hood and cloak to see she had cut her hair as well.

"Oh, come now, my little one," Diana said picking Raini up.

"A kitten? A feisty one at that."

"She's sweet."

"Define sweet." Clark shook his head. "I didn't come here to talk about a kitten. I came here to bring you back home where you belong."

"My home is gone."

Clark's heart dropped.

"Diana, I…we need you back. We were able to get the tapes of what Lord Havok was saying to you."

"It's too late. The league made their choices and casted their judgment."

"It was a mistake and they all know that. We can work this out, Diana."

"How, Kal?! How?! My mother pleaded for me to come back home but I chose the world of man! My mother and sisters had to suffer because of my choice! I should've been there to protect them!"

Raini hissed again.

"It wasn't your fault. You didn't know."

As Clark was reaching to touch Diana's shoulder, Raini quickly snapped to bite him.

"Hey! Stop that!" Clark frowned. "Really, Di?"

"She's protective of me."

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

"Ophelia?! Hey, Ophelia!"

Diana quickly went to open the door.

"Haris?!"

He stood there, concern etched on his face with a couple of other guys with him. "We were checking to see if you were okay," he said. "Lady Marjorie said you were being followed."

Diana nodded, her expression softening. "Yes, my friend came for a visit." She stepped out of the way for Haris to see Clark.

Haris was shocked to see how tall and physically fit Clark was as if he was a Greek God.

He frowned. "Are you sure, Ophelia?"

Diana smiled reassuringly. "Yes, I'm sure."

"If you need anything, let us know."

"Thank you," Diana replied, closing the door gently.

"Ophelia? Who is Ophelia?" Clark questioned. "And who was that?"

"I am," Diana said nonchalantly walking past him going to the kitchen.

"Diana…"

"Clark, I don't want to argue about this."

She placed Raini to sit on the counter for her to get her some food.

"I'm not calling you, Ophelia. It's not you. And who was that?"

Diana raised her brow sensing a bit of jealousy coming from him. "Haris runs around trying to find someone he thinks he can flirt with or is in distress he can charm. I've had to turn him down everytime he has tried with me but he is persistent."

"And what happened to your powers? How did you lose them?"

"I was gifted by Gods for a purpose. That purpose is no longer, so I relinquished them back to Zeus. I am not the woman you knew anymore, Kal. She died with her mother and sisters."

His heart sunk even more.

"No, no! I am not going to let you give up like that!"

"It's not your choice to make, Kal!"

Raini's eyes darting between the two, hissing at Clark whenever Diana's tone grew sharper.

Clark couldn't help but find it adorable how Raini mirrored Diana's reactions. But his concern was genuine.

"Diana, why did you make such drastic decisions? You should've trusted me enough to come and talk to me."

Diana's eyes softened, but there was a deep sadness in them. Tears welled up in her eyes. "Something happened, Clark. I needed to get away."

"The Red Lantern ring."

Her expression pained. "How did you know?!"

"Carol had gotten a signal near the Wonderdome. We saw what happened there and she told me the effects of the ring."

Clark gently cupped Diana's cheek.

Raini hissed again, clearly displeased with the close contact. Clark frowned and picked up the little ball of fluff.

"She has a lot of attitude already for such a small kitten."

Diana laughed, a sound that brought a bit of light into the room. "You two will get along in time... I hope."

"Let me stay with you for just a couple of days. If you truly don't want to go back, I won't force you. But I need you to be okay, Diana."

"I like being here. Everyone is welcoming. The children are all so sweet. It's beautiful here, Kal. I can make a new life for myself."

Clark sighed and nodded. "I support you, Di. Whatever you want and need."

"Tomorrow, I'll show you everything and- Oh, Raini, no, the rose is not for you to tear up."

"Oh, yeah…right….I um… got that from a little girl when I got here. She looked like you."

Diana frowned and tilted her head. "Like me?"

"Yeah…her eyes and smile. She just handed me this rose. I wanted to pay her but she ran off."

"Maybe you'll see her tomorrow when visiting the children."

"Hope so. I would like to thank her because in a way she helped me go the right way of finding you and able to hear your beautiful voice over that crowd."

Diana blushed. "You were really determined to find me, Kal?"

"I sure as hell was. I'm glad I did. I told you, Di…I missed you."

Diana bit her lip holding back her tears. "I missed you, too, Kal."

Without hesitation, Clark pulled her into a tight embrace. "Diana, I can't lose you like that again." He sighed. "I'm still not calling you Ophelia either."

"I would rather be called Ophelia than Captain Underpants," she teased.

Clark wouldn't help but chuckle. "Touché."

Later that night, Clark laid on the sofa, staring at the ceiling, his thoughts a whirlwind of concern and love for Diana. Upstairs, Diana was in bed, but sleep eluded her. Clark could hear the sound of her mumbling, which quickly escalated into a scream.

He rushed upstairs, his heart pounding. Bursting into the bedroom, he found Diana thrashing in her sleep.

"No! No! MOTHER!" she screamed.

Clark gently shook her awake and pulled her into his arms.

"It's just a bad dream, Diana. It's okay! I'm here!"

"Kal…" Diana clung to him, her tears soaking his shirt. "I've needed you, Kal."

He kissed the top of her head, holding her as tightly as he could. "I know. And I'm not going anywhere. I'll be right here with you."
