This chapter was pretty rushed
Subaru looked around. They were no longer in level 0. The buzzing stopped.
"Finally that stupid buzzing stopped. I thought it was going to drive me crazy," Garfiel sighs with relief. The others nodded in agreement
The group took in their surroundings. It was a dimmly lit parking garage. It had hard concrete floor. It didn't look nearly as expansive as the other level.
"What is this place?" Otto asked. He pointed at the florescent lights, "How are these things producing light. They must be connected to some mana sourc, but what is that source?"
"Is this a parking garage from my world," Subaru mutters under his breath. It looked eerily similar to a parking garage from earth. Were they in earth? Subaru started walking.
"Where are you going?" Beatrice asked Subaru.
"I am looking for an exit. I think I might recognize this place." Subaru says.
"If this place is anything like the one we were in before won't it be reeaally big?" Emilia asks.
Subaru looks around. There was no signs to any opennings to the outside. Something caught Subaru's eye. It was a crate laying next to the wall. It was a wooden crate. It looked wet but it could have some useful stuff.
"What is that? Why does everything here look so weird. Is this even still Lugunica?" Otto asks loudly.
Otto's voice echoed through out the musty hallways.
"This isn't Lugunica. We are still in the backrooms. This is just another level of this messed up place. I have no idea how many levels there are to this place," Subaru informs Otto.
"If this isn't Lugunica then where are we. What are these machines," Otto points to the pipes on the wall and the flashlight in Subaru's hand.
Subaru looked down, "This place is supposed to exist outside of reality."
Everyone looked at the black haired knight. If what he was saying was correct then it would be very bad. It would be really difficult to return back. A thought sprouted in Subaru's mind. This place looked a lot like his old home. What if there was a way to return to it. In the time he had spent in Lugunica that thought hadn't really crossed his mind much. Would Subaru really want to return? Even in the possiblity that he did how would it go? What would he say to his parents? Suddenly Subaru was tapped on the shoulder.
"What is that thing you are holding," Emilia asked.
Subaru looked down at the flashlight. It was no larger than his palm. It was a shiny silver flashlight with a button on the back.
"Well see Emilia, this is a piece of technoloy from my old home, a flash light!" Subaru energetically explains.
"What the heck is a flashlight captain?" Garfiel asks.
"It is a special device that emits light," and with that statement Subaru pointed the flashlight to a corner of the room. He clicked on the device and it light the dark corner. Subaru saw something in corner. He walked closer. Suddenly he gagged loudly.
"What is it?" Beatrice asked worriedly.
They all looked down and knew why Subaru gagged. It was a corpse. They were in sitting position covered in blood. The only features that were distinguishable were black hair, black pants, and a shirt with a Nike symbol. There was no way this person was from Lugunica. They had a shirt that was from Earth.
"We should go help him," Emilia says. She quickly rushed towards the person's body. His skin was completely cold.
"There is no use Emilia, the poor guy is dead," Subaru says in a disappointed voice.
"This looks like a mabeast attack. We should be careful." Otto deduces.
"What should we do about the body," Garfiel asks.
Subaru walks up to the body and checks the pockets.
"Subaru! Looting a body like that is disrespectful. We should return this person and their belongings to their parents." Otto scolds.
"I guess your right about the looting part, but we can't return the body," Subaru says.
"Why is that?" Otto asks.
"How many times do I have to say this. We are outside of reality. This is a competely different place and we can't just drag his body around with us until we leave." Subaru tells for the umpteenth.
"What is outside of reality even supposed to mean?" Otto asked.
"It is pretty had to explain. All we need to know is that we are not in Lugunica at all and we have to find our way back." Subaru says, "To start I think we should find a way out of this level. I don't like it much. We should explore this place."
With that the whole group followed Subaru down the dimmly lit path. Unlike level 0 this one was less monotonous. The hallways got a bit tight at times but it was mostly the same stuff. Gray concrete walls and floor with some pipes running along the edge. Garfiel looked back.
"Uh, captain, why did thoses lights go out?" Garfiel asked.
Subaru whipped around. Standing in front of him was a grotesque creature; a hound. It walked on all fours and had pale skin. It growled at the whole team in fear.
"Ul Huma!" Emilia calls out, nothing happened...
The loud yell caused the hound to run away.
"Why didn't my magic work?" Emilia asks.
Beatrice tries to use magic too, "Why isn't it working."
Subaru looks around at this friends who all have a confused face. They all felt the scary absence of mana. Should Subaru tell his friends how this was like his old world? Should he telll them how his old world didn't have magic? It didn't seem like a good time to tell them. When they were in a safe place he would spill the beans.
"Uh Subaru do you have any ideas what is happening? You seem to know a lot about this place." Otto notes.
"Let's get out of this place, then i'll tell you all what is happening. One quick thing, if we see a dangerous creature, just run, okay." Subaru tells them.
The lights have turned back on. They all continue walking down the hallways. Suddenly the surroundings changed. Only half of Subaru's wish had been granted. THey were now out of level 1 but not out of danger's way. If anything they were in even more danger now.
