Chapter 6: New Surroundings and New Beginnings

When I came to, the first thing I noticed I was surrounded by wooden wall logs.

Oh yeah, I forgot he said I would be in an abandoned cabin, I thought to myself, that means!

I look down at my hands and realize my hands are much smaller than before.

I also noticed that I didn't have a burning sensation in my throat like many vampires I've heard about in the movie. It was more like a tickle. I guess since I'm part witch or werewolf, it evens it out or I have less bloodlust?

I tried not to think about it for now. Promising to check on it in the future as I got up and looked around.

As I looked around the room I was in, I noticed a door leading somewhere else, two dusty windows, a bed, a dusty full-sized mirror against a wall, and a dresser with two books on top of it, one book labeled spells and the other labeled journal.

I inspected the bed, Luckily, it looks like the bed is somewhat new. Under the bed were unused clean sheets wrapped in clear plastic and many yearly calendars.

Thanks, Liam! I thanked him in my head, hopefully he heard my words.

Next, I go to the mirror and wipe it down with my hand. It was still dusty but, clean enough to see myself.

I looked at myself in the mirror and noticed I looked just like my past nine-year-old self.

I guess I really am nine years old now. I thought to myself while squishing my cheeks together in the mirror making sure that it was me and not some ghost that looked like a younger version of me.

I looked down to see what I was wearing, it looked like I was wearing a white shirt and some blue overalls with built-in shorts with white socks.

Well, at least it's fashionable and I can move around well in them, I thought to myself chuckling turning around and checking myself in the mirror.

I turn my head looking next to the mirror and see three more outfits folded neatly in a pile. I decided I would look at them later as I didn't have a reason to change right now.

I stood there in the middle of the room trying to decide what I should do next.

"Should I look at my books and see what's inside the dresser or should I explore the rest of the cabin?" I asked myself out loud not worrying about anyone hearing me in the middle of the woods.

I decided I would explore the cabin and my surroundings before cracking open my books.

I decided to go through the door that I saw and see where it led. As I walked out, I found myself in a large room that was divided into two halves, with two large windows, one on each side of the room. The room had an open floor plan, with a living room on the left side and a kitchen on the right side.

In the living room, there was a bookcase with three old dusty books, there was also a small tool kit on the floor next to the bookcase and a dusty but nice couch, and behind the couch, there were two pairs of shoes that looked to be my size.

As I got a closer look at the three books I realized that they were each different. There was a book about fixing electronics, a book about different recipes and herbs, and the last one was a book about random facts.

While looking in the living room, I noticed two doors, one door next to the bedroom, and the other behind the couch in the living room. I decided to check the room closest to the bedroom where I exited.

I peered inside and realized it was a bathroom. As I turned around and walked to the kitchen, I thought to myself that the other door must lead outside.

The kitchen had a nice wood-powered stove that still had wood inside, although it was covered with dust, so I would have to wait to see if it worked, I would have to get some more wood from the forest.

The kitchen had two jugs under the sink, one for water and the other for waste. It had a solar-powered fridge that worked, and a wooden trashcan in the corner.

I look through the two cabinets in the kitchen. One of the cabinets had a pot and two pans, while the other cabinet had four wooden bowls and three wooden plates. There was also a pair of wooden carven silverware in one of the drawers along with two hunting knives and some matches, while the others were empty.

I took a deep breath, "Okay, it's time," I told myself as I walked towards the door that would lead me outside and turned back toward the living room/kitchen. I put a pair of shoes on which I now noticed was Converse.

I took a long look around already planning on what I planned on cleaning when I came back from looking around outside. I turned back around, and grabbed the doorknob, now noticing that my tiny hand seemed to be smaller than the doorknob, I thought to myself chuckling. I turned the knob and took a step outside and gasped at the scenery I saw.

"It's so beautiful!" I looked around the area, it was so peaceful. I could see many trees and green grass, I even saw a squirrel scampering up a tree. With my enhanced senses, I can hear things pretty well.

I decided to close my eyes and listen to the forest. I could hear the wind softly whistling as the leaves swayed in the trees, the flapping of birds' wings as they flew above and the running water from a stream nearby.

Although I couldn't hear humans, which was a plus, I could hear many different animals running around in the forest, although I couldn't tell what they were yet. I have time to find out within three months before my wolf comes.

As I head back inside, I head towards the bathroom, "there's got to be a duster in here somewhere," I muttered to myself rummaging through the drawers.

I didn't find a duster, but I found many rags that could use. I decided to put some away for when I took a shower and grabbed the four for each room to use to wipe off the dust around the house and an extra one just in case.

I started with the living room, wiping the couch and bookshelf then each book carefully before putting them back into place, and then I started to wipe down the kitchen with a new rag. Starting by wiping down the wooden silverware then the counters, next was inside of the cabinets and drawers, and finally finishing by wiping down the stove.

When I got done with the kitchen, I tested the stove, lit it up with a match, and lit the wood inside, and it worked!

"At least, I can cook stuff when I get food," I said smiling putting two fists in the air and celebrating. I left it on to use as a heater and made my way to the bedroom.

I got to work in the bedroom, grabbing a new rag, cleaning the rest of the dust from the mirror, and making the bed. I turned and drew my attention to the two books and a dusty dresser.

I grabbed the two books off the dusty dresser, wiping them down and putting them on my clean sheets before turning my attention to the dresser. I wiped off the dust on the dresser and opened the drawers, peeking inside curiously, and noticed it had socks and underwear in the first drawer while the other two were empty.

I decided to put the clothes that I found next to the mirror in the bottom drawer. I also decided I would put the books in the middle drawer until I could figure out how to use my shadow powers to store them.

I looked around the room feeling proud of myself. I pulled the journal off of my bed and noticed the pen on the side and pulled it off, deciding to journal what I did that day.

Dear Journal,

Today is January 15th, 2002. Today, I found myself inside the cabin that Liam talked about. I found myself exploring the different rooms and even went outside. It is so beautiful and peaceful out here! After going outside, I found some clean rags to clean the dust off of everything inside. Now I'm doing my first journal entry which is so exciting! I don't know what the rest of the plan for today is, but I'm planning on taking it one day at a time. Maybe I'll take out the calendar and mark today and the day my wolf comes. I can't wait to meet my bond and to train! Well, I should get going thank you for listening journal…well, I guess you don't have a choice because you are a journal haha, well bye.

-Faye

I closed the journal and smiled to myself, I also found journaling therapeutic. I took a moment to enjoy the silence before getting up putting my journal inside the dresser and turning around to pick up my spell book.

This is it, I'm finally going to learn magic! I took a deep breath and opened the book and a bright light flashed me making me close my eyes because of how bright it was.

When I opened my eyes I looked down to see my name being written on the inside of the book. I marveled in amazement at what I just witnessed.

This is just the beginning, I thought to myself shaking my head and turning to the first page.

The first page was a table of contents as it looked like the categories were sectioned off. It seemed like there were two main categories, spells, and potions, and the rest of the pages were blank to make more spells when the time came.

Except for that, There was also a section that labeled my species and my powers. I decided to look at the spells first.

I opened the book and scanned through the pages, eyes widening as I kept flipping through. There were spells to learn the elements and different ways to use them, for example, there are two basic spells for each element, Fire, Earth, Air, and Water, and there were also instructions on how to use air steps which are steps made of air that I can walk on! I decided to move on to the next section.

As I flipped through the pages, I noticed that there was even a section on ways showing how to make different illusions and ways to shape-shift, although I would have to wait for that. There were also instructions on how to use and access my shadow powers as well.

The instructions for these were pretty simple too, it says during the first couple of days typically for eight to ten days, I would have to meditate to build mana.

After that, I would have to meditate every so often. To tell that it's working, the mana will cause a warm sensation to spread around my body.

Finally, I flip to review my species. I'm happy that he put it into bullet points to make it easier for me.

The next page seems to have my restrictions. Probably so, I wouldn't forget.

Note: After Bella arrives this page will become empty.

Restriction:

-must wait until Bella arrives at Forks before talking to the other characters, may observe them, but cannot talk to them unless they talk to you first.

At the bottom of the page, I noticed that there was a handwritten note, I tilted my slightly head in confusion and started to read.

Dear Faye,

You've probably already started looking around the cabin and maybe even the woods, I'm very excited to see what you become in this universe! Remember, in the future, if you ever need me or need to talk. All you have to do is call my name five times in a row to use it only during emergencies.

Good luck on your journey, little one.

-Your friend, Liam

I held the book tightly to my small body as tears started dripping on the floor. I already started to miss Liam, he was fun to talk to and didn't judge me or my thoughts. I will be thankful for this new life and opportunity that you have given me, I promise, Liam, I say in my head.

After crying for a bit, I wipe my eyes with my hand and think to myself, Well, it's time to start meditating.

I close my eyes and I sit down in the middle of the room crisscross applesauce and start to meditate.
