Chapter 6 - Lost Girls

~ Mystic Falls, Virginia 1864 ~

~ Stefan's P.O.V. ~

My sister and I were waiting outside as a carriage pulled to the front of my house. When the door opened, the most beautiful woman I have ever met stood in front of us. We walked up to her and her maid to introduce ourselves.

"You must be Miss Pierce," I said.

"Please, call me Kathrine," the woman said.

~ Present Time ~

I opened the door, to see Elena. I was shocked to see her.

"What are you?" She asked me.

When I didn't answer and she asked me again I finally replied, "You know."

"No, I don't," She said.

"Yes, you do. Or you wouldn't be here," I said.

"It's not possible," Elena said, "It can't be."

I slowly put down the stake before speaking, "Everything you know and every belief that you have is about to change. Are you ready for that?"

"What are you?" She said.

"I'm a vampire," I said ready for the backlash.

"I shouldn't have come," Elena said as she backed away.

"No, please," I tried to tell her.

"No," Elena said, "no."

She tried running to her car, but I cut her off.

"How did you do that?" She said.

"Please don't be afraid of me," I pleaded.

"Let me go," She said.

"Elena there are things that you have to know and understand," I said grabbing her.

"Let me go!" Elena yelled before leaving my arms.

"Elena please," I said watching her get in her car and leave.

~ At the Gilbert House ~

~ Elena's P.O.V. ~

I managed to get into my house, and I checked on my siblings. Jeremy was okay, but I didn't see Harmony. I know that I needed to be worried more about that fact, but the shock of the information I just had clouded my mind. I ran to my room and began to take off my shoes and my jacket when Stefan appeared behind me.

"Elena," he said.

I tried running out of my room, but he closed the door caging me in my room.

"I would never hurt you," he told me slowly, "You're safe with me."

"All those animal attacks, those people who died," I began to say turning to face him.

"No, that was Damon," Stefan said.

"Damon?" I said.

"Yes," Stefan said, "I don't drink human blood. That's not how I choose to survive, but Damon does. I'll explain everything to you, but I beg you, Elena. Do not tell anybody."

"How can you ask me that?" I asked.

"Because you knowing this is dangerous," Stefan said, "For so many reasons. You can hate, but I need you to trust me."

"Just go," I said ready to cry, "Just go. Please go. If you mean me no harm, then you'll go."

Stefan shook his head a bit.

"I never wanted this," he said to me.

When he moved away from me I went and opened the door only to turn and have him gone. I quickly locked my window and sat down. It was then, that Aunt Jenna came to me and said Harmony had an attack and is in the hospital. My heart was breaking all over again.

~ With Damon ~

~ Stefan's P.O.V. ~

My phone soon rang with an unknown caller.

"Hello," I answered.

"I want my ring," Damon's voice was the caller.

"Where are you?" I asked.

"I'm at the sizzle," Damon said, "I had the buffet. Where's my ring?"

"I don't have it. Where are you? What have you done?" I asked scared for the answer.

"Nooo. What have you done? You're the one that locked me in the basement and starved me. So whatever I've done, whoever I've sucked dry is on you, buddy," Damon said.

"You're being careless," I said, "How many animal attacks is this town going to believe, huh?"

"I know how to cover my tracks, Stefan," Damon said, "Where's my ring."

"I gave it to Zack to hide," I said trying to get him to feel bad. I know Zack is still alive but I'm not telling him that, "probably shouldn't have killed him. Oh, and you hurt Harmony... Mmhm. Guess you don't care who you hurt."

"Ah, you almost got me. Where is it?" Damon said not feeling remorseful about Zack. Though he was confused if he remembered or not that Harmony was there also. It was all blurry because he was starved.

"I'll get it back, but I need time," I said.

"What? Did you FedEx it to Rome?" Damon said, "Where is it? I want my ring, Stefan. Or my next stop is Elena's."

"I already want you dead," I said, "Don't give me another reason to make it happen."

"Don't give me another reason to rip you apart," Damon said.

"Yeah? Is that gonna be before or after you get your ring back?" I said.

"Just get it," Damon said before hanging up.

I need to convince Zack to leave Mystic Falls. For how long, I don't know. But he needs to leave.

~ Meanwhile at the Hospital ~

~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~

I woke up to my body being sore. Looking around the room, I realized I was in the hospital... again. Rolling my eyes, I looked to the left and saw my twin asleep on the chair beside the bed.

"Jeremy," my voice cracked as I spoked.

Jeremy woke up and quickly sat on the bed hugging me.

"God, Har. What did you do that made you fall and have an attack?" He said, "You had us really worried,"

I wanted to tell him, but I was sure he wouldn't believe me. However, I had to tell him. So, I did.

"Caroline left the car wash early and didn't tell anyone. I saw her leave and followed her until we reached the Salvator house. Zack Salvator caught me and I told him Caroline was also here and I followed him into his house. He looked so scared, I had too. When we went down to the basement, Caroline was opening a locked door and Mr. Salvator pushed her to the side and tried to close the door again. He told us to leave, but I stayed and tried to help. I don't know who or what was in the locked room but I still tried to help. The door opened and Mr. Salvator was then kicked away and suddenly fell to the ground. His neck was at an odd angle. Before I could do anything, I was thrown or pushed to the wall and fell to the ground. I managed to see a figure of a man running up the stairs to get Caroline, but all I could think about was Mr. Salvator. I don't know what really happened but there was this light, then warmth around me. Then I woke up here," I told my twin, "You have to believe me, Jeremy. Something is going on in this town."

Jeremy was quiet for a moment before sighing, "I think you hit your head during your fall, Har. Try to get some sleep. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay," I said sadly as I watched him get up and leave.

I laid in the bed hoping that Mr. Salvator was okay.

~ Next Day ~

~ Elena's P.O.V. ~

"You said you would explain everything. That's why I asked you to meet me here," I said to Stefan, "When you Google 'vampire', you get a world of fiction. What's the reality?"

"I can tell you whatever you want to know," Stefan said.

"I know you eat garlic," I said.

"Yes," Stefan said.

"And somehow sunlight is not an issue," I continued before a waitress came and drop off our drinks.

"We have rings that protect us," Stefan said.

"Crucifix?" I said.

"Decorative," Stefan replied.

"Holy water?" I said.

"Drinkable," Stefan said.

"Mirrors?" I said.

"Myth," Stefan said.

"You said you don't kill to survive," I said.

"Animal blood keeps me alive," Stefan said, "But not as strong as Damon. He can be very powerful."

"And yet you let him get involved with Caroline?" I said disgustedly.

"Forcing Damon not to do something," Stefan began, "Is much more dangerous. Believe me."

"He was hurting her," I said angrily.

"He was feeding on her. He was able to take away her memories of being bitten. Using a form of mental compulsion," Stefan said, "She never knew what was happening to her. If he wanted to kill her, he would have."

"Is that suppose to make it okay?" I said in disbelief.

"No, no none of this is ok, Elena," Stefan said, "I know that."

"Are there any others, aside from you and Damon?" I asked.

"Not in Mystic Falls. Not anymore," Stefan said.

"Not anymore?" I said.

"There was a time when this town was very much aware of vampires," Stefan said, "And it didn't end well for anybody. That's why it's important that you don't tell anyone."

"I can't promise that," I said.

"Elena, give me today," Stefan said, "I will answer any questions that you have, and when it's over you can decide for yourself what you want to do with what you know. It'll be your choice."

I agreed.

~ Time Skip ~

~ Stefan's P.O.V. ~

Half a century before the boarding house was even built, this was my family's home," I said, "Damon and I, we were both born here. The Salvator brothers and their little sister Harmony were the best of friends."

"Wait Harmony?" Elena asked shocked, "But she's-"

"Your sister, Harmony, is the reincarnation of my sister," I said.

~ Flashback ~

The Salvator brothers were playing football outside with Harmony keeping score.

"What are the rules?" I asked.

"Who needs rules?" Katherine, the beautiful woman said.

I noticed my little sister frowning at her entrance, but pushed it aside when Katherine asked if she could join the game.

"Uh, well. You could, you could get hurt," Stefan said, "My brother likes to play rough."

"Somehow, I think you play rougher," Katherine said before taking the ball away from me and running away laughing.

"Why are you standing there? That is a girl who clearly wants to be chased," Damon said, "If you don't do it, I will."

Damon and I went to chase Katherine. The sound of protest of my little sister going in one ear and out the other.

"Wait! You two said that you will spend time with me today! You liars!" My sister yelled.

~ 2nd Flashback ~

I was chasing Katherine in the small maze. When she wanted to claim a prize, Damon's voice rang.

"What would you like it to be?" He asked.

"They extended your leave?" I asked.

"I was simply having to much fun to return to battle," Damon said smiling.

"Your commitment to the confederacy is inspiring," I said walking up to him.

We both hugged and broke apart at the sound of our little sister running up to us.

"Damon!" She yelled as she jumped and hugged him.

"Well, this works out for me," Katherine said smiling.

"How's that Miss Katherine?" Damon said.

"Now I'll have both brothers here to keep me entertained," Katherine said making Harmony said because she knew her brothers were going to blow her off again, "First and foremost, I'll need someone to escort me to the founder's ball."

"I would be honored/With pleasure," Damon and I said at the same time.

Harmony was said that her brothers broke another promise to her. Her brothers didn't even notice her walking away with tears building up in her eyes. Katherine's maid/witch, Emily tried to make her feel better but nothing worked and Harmony gave her a sad smile before locking herself in her room.

~ Meanwhile with Harmony ~

~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~

I am happy that I was able to go home today, and I decided to make dinner. I didn't make my special pasta, but I did make my special pizza and chocolate cake. I was putting frosting inside and outside of my cake when the doorbell was ringing and someone was banging on the door. Jeremy went to go answer it to reveal Vicki Donovan.

"Hey," Jeremy said.

"The sun is killing me. My eyes are on fire," Vicki said.

"Where have you been?" Jeremy said.

"It's good. Everythings good," Vicki said.

"Did something happen?" Jeremy asked.

"I'm hungry," Vicki said, "What do you get to eat?"

Vicki entered the kitchen and took out the food from the fridge before grabbing some of my pizza.

"You're high? Vicki, it's the middle of the day," Jeremy said.

"Could you just not talk, so loud? My head hurts," Vicki said, "I need quiet."

Jeremy looked at me before telling me he was going to call Matt. I nodded and told him I would look after her. After 30 minutes, Matt came and Jeremy took him to where me and Vicki were at.

"What she on?" Matt asked me.

"I don't know," I said.

"Hi, Vic, how you doing?" Matt said softly.

"Not good Matty. I hurt," Vicki said.

"Ok, where's it hurt?" Matt said.

"My gums, my jaw hurts," Vicki said making me stand up straight, "My gums, there's something in my gums, and it hurts."

"Ok, well-" Matt tried saying before Vicki cut him off.

"No! Just leave me alone," Vicki said.

"Come on Vic. Don't be like that. Let's get you home," Matt said calmly.

"Just turn it off!" Vicki said.

"Turn what off," Jeremy said.

"The talking, the chatter, just turn it off," Vicki said.

I looked at the tv and muted it, and saw the news about the graveyard killing. Jeremy took the remote out of my hands and raised the volume. It described how three bodies were found dead. When the two boys were asking questions, Vicki pushed Jeremy towards the couch and into me. Elena and Stefan walked in and Stefan had somehow made Vicki calm and had Matt and Jeremy take her upstairs.

"Harmony, why don't you go with Matt and Jeremy," Stefan said to me.

"It's okay, I half to use the restroom before cleaning the mess in the kitchen," I said before leaving to go the restroom.

Once inside, I was trying to calm down. How could this happen? Who did this to Vicki? I looked in the mirror only to see Vicki was standing behind me.

"I don't feel good," Vicki said.

I was scared and I didn't know how to fight someone, so I was unprepared for when Vicki suddenly grabbed me from my shirt and threw me on the ground where she then tried to bite me. She was so strong, and I didn't know how long I could hold her back. So, I started screaming.

"MATTY! JEREMY! HELP!" I yelled.

Surprisingly, it was Stefan you managed to pull Vicki off me. Vicki left the house as Jeremy watched Stefan check me for injuries.

"I'm okay. She just scared me," I said.

As Matt and Stefan went to look for Vicki, I helped Elena and Jeremy clean the kitchen. The doorbell rang and Elena went to go answer it. Jeremy and I went to see who was at the door. It was Damon. Elena tried to close the door on him, but he managed to open the door.

"Jeremy, Harmony go upstairs," she told us and we both went upstairs.

~ Time Skip ~

Late at night, Elena came into my room and laid on my bed. I knew something was wrong so I turned my body to face her. I didn't say anything, just opened my arms and she cried into them. Then she told me, that she broke up with Stefan. I just held her until we both fell asleep.

What a day.
