Rising Storms

A Harry Potter and Percy Jackson crossover

Chapter 2:

Percy

A man walked over to the woman that held a small bundle in her arms. "I'm sorry I'm late, Sally."

The brown haired woman looked up from the bundle in her arms. "It's okay, Poseidon. He just woke up."

Poseidon stepped closer, looking down at his son. "Good morning, Percy." The boy's sea-green eyes moved from his mom's face to his dad's. "How's my boy?" Poseidon cooed at the six-month-old.

Sally laughed. "While it's cute for you to talk to Percy that way, I have to ask… Why were you late? You're never late to see Percy first thing in the morning."

Poseidon sighed, sadly. "Zeus is keeping a closer eye on us gods. He doesn't believe that we should interact with our demigod children. He seems to believe that if we interact with them, they'll grow stronger than if we left them alone…" He sighed again, taking his son from Sally and holding him close. "I suppose he's not wrong in that, but why should we abandon our children?" Poseidon hugged his son.

"I don't know," Sally replied, watching the love of her life and their son. "It doesn't seem fair to any of the demigods, but life is never fair." She moved forward to wrap her arms around the both of them, joining in on the hug. She thought about her parents who died in a plane crash. She thought about her uncle who died when she was a Junior in High School… leaving her with no degree and no money for living. No, life was never fair. Sally sighed, wishing that her son could grow up knowing his father, but knowing that it would never happen.

Poseidon nodded sadly. "I'm sorry, Sally, but I'm going to have to leave. I can't stay any longer or I won't ever leave." He leaned down to kiss Percy's forehead. "I love you, Percy. Always." He gently handed his son to Sally. Looking into Sally's eyes, he said to her, "I love you, Sally Jackson. Always."

Sally smirked. "What about your wife?"

Poseidon smiled. "I love her, but I love you too. I said it before, but I'd make you a Queen of the sea if you choose." He pleaded. It was the only way he could keep her and their son with him.

She shook her head. "I can't do that. I can't upend your life and Amphitrite's. Especially if Zeus might have a cow." She smiled at the image.

"If you change your mind, you only have to pray to me. I'll hear it at any time." Poseidon didn't want to leave them, never knowing if he'd see them again.

"I will." Sally nodded solemnly.

Poseidon kissed her briefly on the lips. "Peace be with you, Sally Jackson." He kissed his son's forehead again, saying "Peace be with you, Perseus Jackson." He took a step back, and raised a hand. "Close your eyes."

Sally covered Percy's eyes, and with one last look at Poseidon, she closed her eyes. A golden glow filtered through her eyelids before it was gone. When she opened her eyes, she was alone in the small apartment with Percy.

I'm sorry. I wanted this chapter to be about twice this length, which is why it took so long, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. Are you? As you can see so far, I'm going to try to switch between Harry and Percy's POVs... probably starting after Harry's first year. I don't know how many chapters each year of Hogwarts will be, so I'm just playing things by ear at this point. I have the entire series plotted, though, so that's most of the headache gone. Lol. :D Please review and let me know what you think!
