I don't own Vampire Diaries or anything else besides my O.C., that I will use in the story.

Okay. I know that Harmony saved Zach's life, but with Vicki, it was a shock, and even then, she didn't know how she saved Zack. So, sorry, Vicki fans, but Vicki still died.

Chapter 8 - 162 Candles

~ Stefan's P.O.V. ~

I am so happy that my best friend Lexi is here. It's been a long time. I explained to her what happened so for in Mystic Falls.

"U.H.! Why do you stay?" Lexi asked me.

"I told you her name is Elena," I told her, "And her little sister, Harmony, is the reincarnation of my sister, Harmony."

"Well, let's hope she is better than your last girlfriend," Lexi said, holding a picture of Katherine, "And I can't wait to meet your reincarnated sister. Does she remember you?"

"No," I told her a bit sad, "But that's okay. I will be there for her when she needs me."

"Where's Damon?" Lexi asked.

"Inflicting misery somewhere," I told her.

"Aha," she said.

"Hey, are you going to be okay here alone?" I asked her, "I got some things I gotta take care of."

"Well, it's not like a have much of choice," Lexi said, gesturing to the sunlight, "And you and Damon are the only ones that have these nifty daylight rings. I have a mood ring. Want to trade?"

"It doesn't work like that. You know that," I told her.

"Man," Lexi said.

"Hey, Lex. I'm really glad that you came here," I said.

"Okay. What are we doing for your birthday?" Lexi continued, "It's not every day that a guy turns 162 years old."

I groaned before saying, "Really?"

"Oh yeah," Lexi said, smiling.

~ At the Police Station ~

~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~

I didn't know if I should tell the Sheriff about Vicki. Maybe not the whole story, at least. Elena wants us to believe Vicki left town for good, but I am not sure if I should lie. So, sitting in front of Sheriff Elizabeth Forbes made me nervous. She kept asking questions, and at one point, she asked a question that made me rethink about lying entirely.

"So, you really believe Vicki left town?" The Sheriff asked me.

I stayed silent before looking her in the eyes as I scooted closer to her. I took a deep breath before answering.

"In all honestly, Sheriff, I don't know what to think," I told her, and her eyes widened a bit.

"Why don't you know? Your family believes it," She told me with a tone that held suspicion.

"A few days ago, Vicki came to my house. She was acting a bit strange. It might have been a really strong drug she may have taken, but she claimed the sunlight was hurting her eyes. That her gums were hurting her a lot, and I didn't know what to think. She soon left the house and was gone for a couple of days before she had called Matt to tell him she was okay. I saw her at the party, but she seemed fine until I heard her telling Jeremy she needed to leave town," I told the Sheriff who was taking in all the information, "I'm sorry for not being much help, but to answer your question about Vicki leaving town. I don't think she was in the right state of mind entirely."

The Sheriff was quiet for a bit before giving me a small smile.

"Thank you for your honesty, Harmony. You can leave now," She told me, and I got up to leave. When I made it to the door, however, she spoke again.

"Harmony," She said, making me turn around, "Keep this to yourself. Okay."

I nodded before leaving the room. As my family and I left the station, Elena told us she was going to meet us at the car before heading to Stefan.

Wanting to get rid of my negativity, I asked Jenna if we could go to the store to buy ingredients for my special pasta and chocolate cake for dessert. Jeremy cheered and automatically started to tell Jenna to take us to the store right now. Aunt Jenna and I both laughed and told Jeremy to wait until Elena comes back to the car. He pouted a bit before sitting down. Elena soon returned, and we headed for the store. We got the ingredients and headed home. Jeremy was in the kitchen with me, as I began to cook and bake. Aunt Jenna and Elena were on the couch wallowing.

"Your wallowing," Aunt Jenna said.

"So are you," Elena replied.

"My wallow is legitimate. I was dumped," Aunt Jenna said.

"Yeah? Well, Logan's a jerk," Elena said.

"You didn't get a brushed off email saying 'I'm leaving town. See ya,'" Aunt Jenna said.

"Wanna keep it down over there?" Jeremy called out.

"Why? What are you doing?" Aunt Jenna asked.

"Homework," Jeremy said.

"Since when do you do homework?" Elena said.

"I gotta finish this. I'm way behind, and I have a quiz tomorrow, so," Jeremy replied to them, "Can you help me, Har?"

"Of course, Jer-Jer," I told him, still cooking, "Markdown your questions, and I will help you when I'm done cooking."

"What do you think? Alien?" Elena said.

"Some sort of replicant," Aunt Jenna said.

"He can hear you," Jeremy said.

Dinner went well. Aunt Jenna and Elena ate on the couch while watching tv. I was with Jeremy helping him with his homework, and helping him study for his quiz tomorrow. After that, I saved the leftovers for lunch tomorrow before showering and changing into my pajamas. I laid on my bed, quickly falling asleep.

~ Damon's P.O.V. ~

I entered the Sheriff's office.

"Mr. Salvator, come on in," Sheriff Forbes said, "Uh, could you shut the door?"

"Sure," I said, closing the door.

"I understand, from Mrs. Lockwood, that your Uncle is out of town," She said.

"Yes, he is. But I spoke with Zack, and he filled me in. And he asked if I could bring this to you," I told her handing over the box of vervain.

She opened the box and pulled out the plant. "Vervain," she said.

"It's all we have at the moment. I hope it's enough," I told her.

"It's a small circle," The Sheriff started to explain who was in the council, "founding families, a few city officials-"

"And, of course, your deputies I take it?" I asked. "Are we any closer?"

The Sheriff shook her head. "I think our facts are wrong. We've always believed that vampires can only come out in the dark. What if that's changed?"

"Is-Is that even possible?" I asked a little nervous about how the council is starting to catch on our secret.

"We've exhausted every other option. We have to consider that the vampire is maybe walking around during the day right in front of us," the Sheriff said.

"Hmm. So what's the next step?" I asked, wanting to know their plan.

"Well, we're now looking at anyone new in town since the deaths began," The Sheriff said, "Should turn up a suspect or two."

"And I, of course, will do anything I can to help," I told her.

~ NEXT DAY ~

~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~

I was at the music store, buying more music sheets. I've been slacking from practice these last couple of days, and I need to start practicing again. As I was walking down the aisle, my phone rang. It was a text message from Caroline about a party she was going to throw at the Grill tonight. Then, I received a text from an unknown number. My eyebrows raised when I found out it was Damon. He told me that today was Stefan's birthday and that he had Caroline throw a party for him and wants me to go.

I wanted to kick myself for not even asking when his birthday was. However, I will make it up to him by making my special homemade cake. After buying my music sheets, I quickly went to another store to buy the ingredients. Then, when that was done, I headed home.

~ At Gilbert House ~

I quickly began to bake the cake, and when I finished taking out the circle-shaped cake from the oven and was waiting for it to cool down, I went upstairs to shower and get ready for the party. I decided to wear a high-waisted cheetah skirt, a black off-the-shoulder long-sleeved crop top, and small black ankle boots. For lipstick, I put a maroon matte color. I also put a smoky eyeshadow, a winged liquid eyeliner, and mascara.

When I was done, I went back down to the kitchen to decorate the chocolate cake. I managed to add chocolate filling in the middle before covering it with chocolate icing. Then I grabbed the strawberries I bought and set aside as I wrote 'Happy Birthday Stefan' on top. When I finished writing that down, I rinsed the strawberries then placed them on the top left and bottom right of the cake before placing two candles on the top right and bottom left. I carefully placed it in a cake box; I usually get when I bake sweets as a gift and headed out the door. Elena was heading out as well when she saw me.

"I'm going to Stefan's house," Elena said, "Be back in a bit."

"Wait! Can I go with you? I have to drop this off," I said.

"What is it?" Elena asked as we entered her car.

"It's a surprise. Can't tell you," I told her with a mischievous grin, making her give me a small smile.

~ Salvator House ~

Elena knocked on the door, and we waited for someone to open the door.

"It's open! Come on in!" A female voice was heard.

Elena and I looked at each other before she opened the door, and we entered. As we looked around, the sound of footsteps caught our attention. A beautiful blonde in nothing but a towel stared at my sister in shock. Why?

"Oh my God," the girl said, "How uh-wh-who?"

"I'm Elena, and this my little sister Harmony," Elena said as I waved balancing the cake in one hand, "Who are you?"

"Lexi, a friend of Stefan," The girl, now known as Lexi, said.

"Is he here?" Elena asked.

"He's in the shower," Lexi said, "Do... you want to wait?"

"No," Elena said. Her green monster was slowly showing.

"I'll tell him you stopped by," Lexi said with a forced but kind smile.

"That's okay," Elena said, walking away.

She stopped when she noticed I was following.

"I'm going to Caroline's party later. I'll ask Stefan to take me there," I told her, and she nodded before leaving and closing the door.

When I was sure she left, I turned to Lexi with a big smile making her smile for real this time. I stuck out my hand out to her, and she shook it.

"I'm Harmony Gilbert. It's nice to meet you, Lexi," I told her before asking, "Are you here for Stefan's birthday?"

"Yeah, how did you know it was his birthday?" Lexi said.

"I received a text from Damon earlier today. I first felt horrible for never asking Stefan when his birthday was, so I made this for him as an apology," I said, lifting the box, "Do you think he'll like it? I don't even know his favorite flavor."

Lexi motioned if she could open the box, and I nodded. When she lifted the lid and saw the cake, she smiled.

"This looks professionally done," She said, looking up at me, "Did you make it yourself?"

I nodded.

"He's going to love it," Lexi said. "We're heading to the party later. Do you want to hang out with us?"

"Yeah," I said.

I was silent before asking her, "Are you a vampire?"

Her eyes widened a bit before she smiled. "Yes. Does that bother you?" She asked me.

"No, I just wanted to let you know that I know, so you wouldn't have to pretend around me. I haven't told Stefan that I know, though. My sister doesn't even know. So, a secret between the two of us?" I told her, lifting my pinky up.

Lexi made the pinky swear with me, and I decided to wait on the couch near the fireplace, as she talked to Stefan real quick. Not wanting to be part of whatever they wanted to talk about, I agreed. After a few minutes, Lexi came back down. She gestured me to follow her. We entered a room, and I immediately saw Stefan.

"Harmony? What are you doing here?" Stefan asked.

I walked up to him and gave him the cake box.

"I heard it was your birthday today," I told him, "I wanted to make you something since I was rude not to ask you when your birthday was like a good friend."

I watched Stefan open the box.

"I hope you like it," I told him.

Stefan was quiet for a moment before looking up with a smile. "Thank you. I love it," He said.

"Can we sign happy birthday now, and eat some of the cake before heading to the party?" Lexi said, "I haven't tasted a homemade cake in a long time."

"Sure," Stefan said, and Lexi sped out of the room only to return with matches, plates, knives, and forks.

"Okay," Lexi said, lighting the four candles, "Since we have a party to go to, we will sing fast so we can just dig into the cake."

We sang the song fast, and we cut the cake and began to eat some. Lexi moaned at the delicious favors making her tastebuds dance in joy.

"This is delicious," Lexi said.

"Thank you," I said.

"Thank you, Harmony. This is really good," Stefan said.

"Who taught you how to bake?" Lexi said, eating another mouth full.

"My mother taught me how to cook and bake," I told her, "After she and my dad passed away, I continued to teach myself different recipes. Now, I am the cook of the family. No one else can live in my family,"

"Well then, you are talented," Lexi said before looking at the time, "We have a party to go too. Let's go!"

"You guys go ahead, I have to do something first. I'll meet you there," Stefan said.

~ TIME SKIP ~

The party was a huge hit. How Caroline can pull something off in just a few hours always surprises me. I was playing pool when Lexi claimed she was getting us drinks. When she left, I noticed Stefan not really focused on our game.

"What's wrong?" I asked him.

"Nothing," Stefan said, "Just making sure not to miss."

I dropped the subject, and we kept playing until Lexi came back.

"I drank both your drinks. Sorry," Lexi said.

"I'm underage. I was going to give it to you, anyways. Thank you, though," I told her before noticing Matt carrying Caroline out of the Grill. I turned to the two. "I'm going to head home with Matt and Caroline. Happy birthday, Stefan. It was nice to meet you, Lexi."

"It was nice to meet you too. Hope to see you again," Lexi said.

I managed to catch up with Matt.

"Hey Matty, can you take me home too?" I told him, "Elena is staying a while longer."

"Sure," Matt said.

We exited the Grill to see police out in front. Sheriff Forbes walked up to us.

"What happened? Is she okay?" The Sheriff said.

"As if you care," Caroline said.

"She's drunk?" Sheriff asked in disbelief.

"As a stunk," Caroline said.

"Are they serving you in there?" The Sheriff asked.

I nodded my head at her as Matt replied, "Uh, I'll take her home. I haven't been drinking."

"I would appreciate that Matt, thank you," Sheriff said before looking back at Caroline, "You and I will discuss this later."

"Can't wait," Caroline said.

As we walked passed her, the Sheriff stopped me. I gestured to Matt that he can go. When I looked back at the Sheriff, I said, "I haven't been drinking either. Someone tried to get me to drink, but I said no."

"I know, and I believe you, Harmony. I just wanted to ask if you have seen anyone suspicious in there," The Sheriff said.

"Not that I know of," I said slowly, "Why?"

The Sheriff patted my back as she said, "Don't worry about it. Just head home."

I nodded and walked away towards Matt's car. As I made it to the passenger door, something inside said to stay where I was. Never one to go against my gut feeling, I looked at Matt and told him to leave without me, and that I'll just leave with Elena. He was confused but didn't say anything to me. When he left, I hid in the shadows near the Grill, waiting for something to happen. I didn't have to wait long because the police came out of the Grill dragging a body with them. Getting a good look, I realized it was Lexi.

Lexi soon woke up and was fighting with the police until Damon came out of nowhere and staked her through her heart. I had to cover my mouth, to keep me from yelling. How could he do something like this? I saw Damon help the Sheriff put Lexi in a car. When the two of them went back inside the Grill, I ran over to the car that had the body of Lexi and went to check if the doors were open. It surprised me that it was and I crawled in the car and pulled Lexi out. I hoped they wouldn't know her body would be missing, and pulled her to the nearby woods. It was hard because I was literally pulling dead weight. Pun intended.

When I was in a good part inside the woods, I stopped and sat down next to Lexi's body. Her gray skin had veins all over. I pulled the stake out of her body and tossed it away. Then, I turned back to the body of someone who I thought would have been a great friend to me and held her to my chest. I closed my eyes as tears began to build up in my eyes, and started to pray. A prayer to have her come back, and if not... to at least find peace.

What happened next surprised me.

A bright light was shining where my hands were holding Lexi's. It was so bright I had to look away, and after a moment it disappeared. Blinking my eyes I suddenly felt a pressure in my hand. Looking back at Lexi I saw her body had it's color back, and she moved. Feeling my heart race and breathing picking up, I saw her eyes open. She looked around confused before her gaze landed on me.

"Harmony?" Lexi said confused, "What happened? I thought I died?"

"I don't know-how. But I did something," I told her smiling as tears of joy rolled down my cheeks.

She slowly sat up, and for a moment we just stared at each other. Lexi then stood up. She was angry at what Damon had done to her.

"I'm going to kill him," Lexi said before turning to me, "Want to come with me? Or go home?"

"I think I'm just going to go home. I'm tired," I told her and before she sped away I said, "Lexi, I don't know what's happening to me. So, please don't tell anyone."

"I promise," Lexi said before speeding off.

I sighed and made my way home. It's been a long night, and I still need to let Uncle John know what happened to me.

~ At The Salvator House ~

~ Lexi's P.O.V ~

I don't know what Harmony did, but I'm not complaining. She saved my life. I owe her big time. However, at the moment, I have a date with a certain dark-haired vampire.

I was entering the house when I heard noises upstairs. I entered the room to hear Damon tell Stefan, "Come on. I did this for you. To get 'em off our trail."

"You never do anything for anyone but yourself," Stefan said staked Damon in his abdomen.

"You missed," Damon gasped.

"No. You saved my life. I'm sparing yours. We're even," Stefan said before twisting the stake, "And now we're done."

Damon fell to the floor and when Stefan turned around he stopped as he saw me. I gave him a smile.

"Lexi?" Stefan said in disbelief as Damon looked at me in shock as well.

"The one in only," Lexi said.

"You died. I saw you die," Stefan said with tears forming in his eyes but not falling.

"I was, but I don't know how I'm alive now," I gave him half of the truth.

I then looked at Damon, and slowly walked towards him. He honestly looked scared, and I was happy about that. I knelt down in front of him and gave him the most serious face a vampire can give to anyone.

"I wish I could kill you. I want to so bad," I told him looking straight in his eyes before looking at my best friend then back to him, "But, whether or not you two know this, you two need each other. So, I'm not going to kill you. I'm being the bigger person and sparing your life."

I got up and faced my friend.

"Well, this day has been epic, but I'm going to start heading out. I'll see you again someday," I told him before I hugged him.

Stefan hugged me back fiercely as he said, "Goodbye, Lexi."

I gave him a smile before speeding off into the night. I needed to get back to the love of my life and tell him what happened to me.

~ MEANWHILE WITH BONNIE ~

Bonnie was having a dream about her ancestor, Emily, giving her a warning.

"It's coming," Emily said before Bonnie woked up in a cemetery looking place in the woods.

A/N: I don't like how an awesome character like Lexi, was introduced and just died in one episode. So, yes, I had Harmony save her. I am still unsure how I can explain her being an angel for not only the supernatural but for humans as well. So, if you have ideas, I am all ears.
