Chapter 9 -History Repeating

~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. Getting up from bed, I didn't feel like really dressing up for school. So, I went through my closet and pulled out a pair of blue jeans, a white shirt, a green jacket, and a pair of white tennis. I put my hair up in a messy bun and went downstairs to make breakfast and lunch. After making sure I had packed me and my family their lunches for today, I ran back upstairs to get my violin, and stuff for school. I left the house and headed for school.

~ At School ~

After practicing with my violin for an hour, I made it to my history class early to get a seat in the front. When I got there, I pulled out my music book and began to read.

Soon, students began to enter the room, and I put away my music book in favor of grabbing my history book and notes out. The bell rang just as Bonnie was rushing inside and a man followed right behind her.

"Good morning everyone," the man said.

"Good morning," I said.

The man soon turned to the board, after putting his stuff down, and began to write his name down. When he was done, he turned to the class.

"Alaric Saltzman. I know it's a mouthful. Doesn't really roll off the tongue," the man said, "Saltzman is of German origins. My family emigrated here in 1755, to Texas. I, however, was born and raised in Boston. Now, the name Alaric belongs to a very dead great-grandfather. I will never be able to thank him enough. You'll probably want to pronounce it as 'Ala-ric'. But it's 'A-lar-ic', ok. But you can call me Ric. I'm your new history teacher."

~ Lunch Time ~

I was sitting with Bonnie and Elena. Bonnie was telling us what has been happening to her.

"And then I ended up at the remains of old Fell's Church before I woke back in the woods," Bonnie said.

I can see the bags under her eyes.

"And you always see your ancestor, Emily?" Elena said as Bonnie nodded, "Huh?"

"Do you believe in ghosts?" She asked us.

"I've always had," I told her.

"Two weeks ago, I'd say no, but now-" Elena said as Bonnie cut her off.

"I think I'm being haunted," Bonnie said.

"I don't get it. Why Emily?" Elena said.

"Grams said she was a powerful witch back in the civil war days, and that this medallion was hers," Bonnie said, "A witch's talisman."

"And it all started when you got the necklace?" Elena said.

"I think she's using it to communicate with you, Bonnie," I told my witch friend.

"I think so too," Bonnie replied.

"Okay. What does Grams say about it?" Elena said.

"I can't call her. She's gonna say to embrace it?" Bonnie said, "I don't want to embrace it. I want it to stop."

"I think if she needs you to do something for her. then you should do it and she will finally leave you alone," I told Bonnie.

I got up and went to the restroom before lunch is over. When I was done and was heading to my locker, I saw Jeremy coming out of the history room.

"Hey, Jeremy," I called my brother.

"Hey, Harmony. I'm glad I got to see you before school was over. Mr. Saltzman, the new history teacher, is willing to give me extra credit to boost my grade. I have to write a paper, can you help me?" Jeremy asked me.

"Yeah, we can start researching after the family dinner with Aunt Jenna," I told him.

~ TIME SKIP ~

Jeremy and I were at the Grill with Aunt Jenna, who was staring at our new history teacher.

"I like a man who can dine alone," Aunt Jenna said, "A quiet strength."

I smiled as Jeremy replied with, "I thought you were still under the whole Logan depression thing?"

"Oh, I've sworn off men forever," Aunt Jenna said, "But it doesn't mean that I can't observe them from a safe distance."

"Well, we can introduce you," Jeremy said.

Aunt Jenna thought about it for a moment before shaking her head at us. Then, she began to ask Jeremy about his extra credit work.

"Have you pick a topic?" She asked my brother.

"No, not yet. It's got to be local and non-internet research so-" Jeremy said with a sigh.

"Well, that's easy. You got all of your dad's stuff," Aunt Jenna said making me raise my eyebrows.

"What stuff?" Jeremy asked.

"The Gilbert Journals," I told him making him look at me.

"How the Gilberts came over on the Mayflower stuff," Aunt Jenna added, "All the family lineage from way back. Your dad really loved all that family history stuff. It's all boxed up in the closet."

"I can help you with that also. I read all the journals," I told Jeremy who had a thoughtful look.

Just then, our history teacher walked up to our table.

"Mr. Saltzman," Jeremy said with a smile.

"Jeremy, Harmony. What's up?" He replied to us with a smile of his own.

"This is our Aunt Jenna," Jeremy said.

"Alaric Saltzman. It's nice to meet you," Alaric said.

"Jeremy was just telling me about his paper. Thanks for giving him another chance," Aunt Jenna said with a flirty smile.

"Oh, you know. It was my first day," Alaric said giving a shy yet flirty smile back, "I wanted to make a good impression."

Jeremy and I looked at each other with smiles and raised eyebrows. The two of us finished our food and we left Aunt Jenna to talk to Alaric. We got home and began taking out the boxes of our dad's stuff. He opened a box and took out one of the journals. I knew that it was now or never that I told Jeremy what happened to Vicki. What our family's history did with the supernatural. Vampires the main thing.

"Jeremy," I said placing a hand over his to get him to look at me, "Before you read these. I need to tell you something. When I do, please keep an open mind, and know that I am telling you the truth."

Jeremy looked at me weirdly before saying, "What do you mean?"

"Just promise me, Jeremy," I said. Pleading with my eyes.

He was quiet before nodding. "I promise," he said.

It was then, that the front door opened and Aunt Jenna entered the house with Alaric standing at the door. We smiled as we saw her deny Alaric entry into our house. After closing the door, she walked up to us.

"So, uh. You found the boxes?" Aunt Jenna said.

"Found this too," Jeremy said showing her a picture of Aunt Jenna with Logan.

"Me and Logan. That's just cruel," Aunt Jenna told Jeremy.

"No. Cruel is dating our History teacher," Jeremy said.

"I'm not dating him," Aunt Jenna said, "Yet."

Aunt Jenna left and we both chuckled before the serious atmosphere returned. Jeremy looked at me as he said, "Talk."

I nodded and we grabbed a few journals before going to his room.

Stefan managed to save Bonnie's life. However, Stefan was going to leave me. I begged him to not walk away and to stay with me but he didn't listen.

Stefan managed to save Bonnie's life. However, Stefan was going to leave Elena. Claiming how it was a mistake coming home. Elena begged him to not walk away and to stay with her but he didn't listen.

Caroline and Matt were having a sleepover at her house after he told her the truth about how he liked laying in bed with her. And that he understands her. He mentioned how it was just him with Vicki and his mom not there. He mentioned how Harmony was helping a bit with money she had earned from the Lockwood party earlier in the year. And that, even though it was helpful he still felt alone. Caroline always knew Harmony was nice, but she never knew it went to that extent. However, she knew that Harmony didn't see Matt romantically, so she wasn't worried about her having a chance at taking Matt, who she (Caroline) was having a crush on.

I quickly went to my room to bring out my drawing journal and locked his door before telling him everything. He stayed silent the whole time listening on how the supernatural was real. How Stefan and Damon were vampires. Bonnie being a witch. How Vicki became a vampire and was killed by Stefan. How Elena made Damon make him forget about everything. When I told him how it didn't work on me, he made a face. When I mentioned how I tried telling him something was going on in the town and how he didn't believe me, his expression changed a bit. And when I was done, I waited for him to say something.

"Jeremy. Please say something," I said to him with tears in my eyes.

"I'm sorry, Harmony, but I don't believe you. Vampires aren't real. Maybe you need some help," He said to me. Breaking my heart in the process.

"I'm not lying to you Jeremy," I tried telling him, "this is the truth. I never showed anyone my drawing diary before. I make to mark the day, draw an important event, and write about it. Why would I lie to you."

"Look, just go to sleep. I'll start reading the journals," Jeremy said not looking at me, "I'll give you the rough draft to read."

I sat on his bed for a moment before taking in a shaky breath and standing up. I went to the door, unlocked it, and opened it. When I was about to leave, I turned to my brother.

"I'm telling the truth, Jeremy. Read Elena's diary if you don't believe me," I told him, "I love you."

I closed his door and went to my room with my journal. I locked the door and placed my journal away before sitting on my bed crying. Little did I know, Elena was telling Bonnie the truth also in her room. And that Stefan was having his heart broken in his house.

Aunt Jenna was putting the boxes Jeremy and Harmony forgot to put away when the doorbell rang. Making Harmony, who was crying in her room, question who was at the door. She had a bad feeling and quietly left her room and went downstairs to see her Aunt Jenna open the door to Logan Fell.

"Logan," Aunt Jenna said in disbelief.

"Jenna," Logan said, "Aren't you going to invite me in?"

Those words made the hair on the back of Harmony's neck stand up. The bad feeling increased big time, and her eyes widened in realization.

'Oh God,' Harmony thought.
