Chapter 14 - Fool Me Once
~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~
Jeremy and I were at the Grill. Jeremy was drawing, while I was eating a burger with fries. Caroline walked up to us and began ranting on how she couldn't get hold of Bonnie or Elena.
"Uh, she went somewhere with Stefan," Jeremy said.
"I am so not gonna be one of those girls who disappear just because she has a new boyfriend," Caroline said.
"Who is Duke?" Jeremy asked.
"Some guy, that graduated a few years ago," Caroline said, "And he throws a party every time he comes home from Duke."
"Wait, Duke goes to Duke?" Jeremy asked puzzled.
"His real name is Bob or something. He's a total a**, but he buys the beer," Caroline said, "Maybe you two should come?"
"Uh, yeah. I don't think so," Jeremy said and I nodded in agreement.
"No, seriously. Everyone goes," Caroline said, "Even quiet loner little siblings."
I scoffed and Jeremy sat back.
"Think about it," Caroline said before walking towards Matty.
I looked at Jeremy.
"You don't really want to go to the party, do you?" I asked.
"Not really," Jeremy said.
The two of us packed up and left the Grill. As we were walking down the street, I saw Anna.
"Jeremy, is that Anna?" I asked and when he saw her, Jeremy ran to her.
I shook my head and kept waited for my brother to finish talking with Anna. It was brief, and when he returned, Jeremy said he was going to the party with Anna. I sighed.
"just be careful Jeremy," I said.
"I will. Promise," Jeremy said hugging me.
~ LATER THAT NIGHT ~
I was in my room when I heard Elena and Jeremy coming up the stairs.
"Oh my God. Jeremy, are you okay?" I asked.
"Harmony, can you get water and Advil? I'll take him to his room," Elena said.
"Okay," I ran to the kitchen to grab the stuff.
When I entered Jeremy's room, I gave him the pills and water as he was talking to Elena.
"I just wish I knew what knocked me out. I didn't drink that much. I swear," Jeremy said.
"And you don't remember anything?" Elena asked.
"The whole thing is pretty cloudy. I just... I know how this looks. I'm sorry," Jeremy said.
"No, Jeremy. Don't be sorry," Elena said, "You didn't do anything, okay?"
Jeremy nodded.
"I'm going to head over to Bonnie's for a little bit, but is there anything you need?" Elena asked.
"No, I'm just going to crash," Jeremy said.
"Ok, well Jenna is here. I'll be back soon," Elena said before leaving.
After a few minutes, I had a sudden feeling that I needed to go to Bonnie's house as well. I hugged Jeremy and told him that I was going to go with Elena. He nodded and I left running to Bonnie's house.
When I got there, I heard Bonnie screaming for Elena. I ran to the house and I was happy to know that it was unlocked. I followed the sound on Bonnie crying as Elena was calling the ambulance. I entered the room they were in and saw Sheila Bennet dead on her bed. My eyes watered seeing a strong woman who I looked up to be dead. Elena was holding Bonnie as I made my way Mrs. Bennet's body.
"Harmony? What are you doing here?" Elena said.
I looked over my shoulder to the two girls.
"I'm going to help her," I said not realizing my eyes were glowing.
I faced Mrs. Bennet and placed my hands on her chest on the forehead. Closing my eyes, a sense of life flowed through me into Mrs. Bennet, and a bright light covered my body. My eyes opened to the sound of gasping. I looked down to see Mrs. Bennet awake. Her eyes showed how shock she was that she was alive. I moved away from Mrs. Bennet and Bonnie ran and hugged her grandma.
"Grams! You're alive," Bonnie cried.
Mrs. Bennet hugged Bonnie and looked over her shoulder at me. Bonnie released her grandma before walking to me and gave me a hug.
"Thank you, Harmony," Bonnie said.
"How did you do that?" Elena said in disbelief.
I looked at the three women in the room as I said, "I don't know. I just knew I could help."
"You are something special, Harmony Gilbert," Mrs. Bennet said, "You must keep this hidden as much as you can. Because there are many who would use you for your power."
I nodded before passing out. Elena had to grab me.
The last thing I heard was Mrs. Bennet saying to put me on the bed.
