Chapter 20 - Founder's Day

~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~

It's Founder's Day, and I was getting ready. While I was doing so, I was thinking about when Elena gave me a dress that Stefan asked her to give to me to wear. I was surprised to recognize it as one of my old dresses when I was a Salvator.

~ FLASHBACK START ~

I was in my room when Elena came in with a box. I looked at the box before glancing up at my sister.

"What's this?" I asked.

"Stefan asked me to give you this to wear for Founder's Day. He said it belonged to his little sister, back in 1864," Elena said.

"Why would he want me to wear this dress? Shouldn't he want to keep it locked away somewhere?" I asked after I opened the box to see the dress.

"His exact words were 'It suits her. Besides, I rather someone wear it in memory of my sister.' That's what he said," Elena said.

"Then I will wear it with pride," I said, "Do you have a dress?"

"Yeah," Elena said, "Don't worry about me."

~ FLASHBACK ENDS ~

Now, in my old ivory dress, which has a lavender bodice with flower designs, and a lavender overskirt that parts in the front, a square neckline, and three-quarter bell sleeves. To finish the look I put on ivory gloves that stop at the wrist. I barely placed any makeup on. Just pink lipgloss, and mascara. My hair was curled in a half-up-do with a purple ribbon. Some strands framing my face. I placed the Miss Mystic Falls sash on before heading to my closet to get my heels.

I packed a duffle bag with a change of clothes to wear after the parade; a pair of gray jeans, socks, black heeled boots, a white long-sleeved shirt, and a gray hoody. When that was done, I went to Elena's room to see she was almost ready.

"This dress hurts," Elena complained to Aunt Jenna.

"Suck it in, baby," Aunt Jenna said, before realizing I was at the door, "Wow, Harmony. You look amazing."

That got Elena's attention, and her eyes widened to see me. "She's right. You look good," Elena said.

"Thank you," I said giving a curtsey.

~ AT SCHOOL ~

When we got to school, I left Elena to go to where Bonnie and Caroline were taking pictures. I smiled as I walked up to them.

"I can take a picture with my fellow Miss Mystic Falls?" I asked.

Caroline, Bonnie, and Matt turned to me. Caroline squealed when she saw me.

"You look like you truly lived in the 1800s," Caroline said.

"Thank you," I said.

"Come. Take a picture with me," Caroline said.

I stood next to Caroline and we posed for the camera.

"Let's take one with Bonnie," Caroline said.

"I'll take it," Tyler said coming up to us," Bonnie gave him the camera as Matt decided to leave.

Tyler gave us an 'i can't believe it' look as he said, "I said I was sorry."

"You made out his mom, and then beat him to a pulp. You have to do a little bit better than sorry," Caroline said.

Tyler sighed before taking the picture. Caroline then took a picture of me and Tyler, before we headed to the floats. Tyler would have been on the historical float, but since he was my escort in the Miss Mystic Falls, he had to be with me. I and Tyler stood next to Caroline and Matt. The boys were silent to each other, but I and Caroline smiled at each other in excitement. The parade started and we began to wave when we saw the townspeople.

"Ladies and Gentleman, please give a round of applause to our Miss Mystic Falls court and their handsome escorts. Aren't they beautiful?" Mrs. Lockwood announced, "On the very top we have Caroline Forbes and Harmony Gilbert, this year Miss Mystic Falls."

We waved at everyone as the float passed by. The parade was soon over and we went to go change into regular clothes.

~ LATER THAT NIGHT ~

I was walking around when my head started to hurt from a loud noise ringing in my ears. I fell to the floor in pain. Screaming. I heard footsteps coming up from behind me when I was injected with something. I was being dragged to my dad's old clinic and dumped into the basement. My head was still hurting and I was screaming. When the noise stopped, all that was left was throbbing. I was tired of all the screaming, and the pain so I passed out.

When I woke up again, there was fire everywhere. I began to cough from the smoke and noticed a familiar body nearby. It was from Anna. Her body was gray and had veins with a stake in her heart. I began to cry as I crawled to her. When I made it, I stroked her cheek with my finger.

"Anna, no," I said crying before coughing.

It was then I heard Damon's voice.

"Harmony?" Damon said.

I turned around to see him looking at me weakly.

"Damon," I said quietly.

I turned to Anna before giving her a kiss on her cheek. I wanted to save her like I did the others, but I had a feeling it was better this way. Anna could be with her mother now. I then made my way to Damon. When I got close enough, Damon wrapped his arms around me.

"You're not a vampire. You shouldn't be here," Damon said.

"My head was hurting, and someone dragged me here," I said still crying, which did not help my asthma as all I was breathing was smoke. I could feel my airways closing.

"Hey, Harmony, look at me. Look at me. You need to breathe. I know it's hard, but you need to breathe," Damon said.

I looked at Damon with fear in my eyes.

"I... can't... breathe," I told him.

~ MEANWHILE WITH ELENA AND STEFAN ~

~ Elena's P.O.V. ~

I knew Alaric was going to find Jeremy and Harmony and take them home. So, all I was worried about was finding Damon. Stefan heard the screams coming from my dad's clinic, and we were going when we were stopped by John. He was gloating about the death of Damon and all the other vampires. Stefan soon ran to go help his brother, and John stopped me from following. That didn't last long when I brought up him being my father which he confirmed. I ran to where I told Stefan to go to and saw Bonnie there.

"Stefan!" I yelled.

Bonnie grabbed my arm and was stopping me from going. She apologized for lying before she began to chant a spell. A spell on what I am not sure.

~ WITH DAMON AND HARMONY ~

~ Damon's P.O.V. ~

I held the reincarnation of my sister. I remember her having health issues in the past, and I Harmony Gilbert was no different. I was scared because Harmony couldn't breathe. I wasn't there for my sister when Katherine came into the picture, so I wanted to make it up to her with Harmony. Now, I feel like I won't have the chance to.

"DD, I'm scared," Harmony whispered and my eyes widened.

It was the nickname my sister called me.

"I know. Just focus on breathing for me... Big brother is going to get you out of here," I told her with tears in my eyes.

Harmony began to gasp for air, before she closed her eyes, passing out.

"NO! NO!" I yelled, "WAKE UP, HARMONY!"

Just then, Stefan ran down the stairs and ran to me.

"Damon!" He said before noticing Harmony, "Oh my God. Harmony?"

Stefan helped me and Harmony out of the building, where Bonnie and Elena were at.

"Oh my God! Harmony?! What happened?!" Elena yelled.

"She was inside the building," Stefan said, "I don't hear her breathing."

Stefan took me away somewhere, as Elena and Bonnie went to go get help. Taking Harmony with them.

~ Elena's P.O.V. ~

"Somebody help!" I yelled gaining the attention of the paramedics nearby and John.

John ran up to us, as the paramedics checked Harmony and were placing her in the ambulance.

"What happened?" John said.

"She was in the building," I told him angrily.

"That's impossible. She's not a vampire. I know she isn't," John said.

"Well, she was and now she isn't breathing," I told him.

I walked away from him as I let Jenna know that Harmony is going to the hospital.

~ AT THE HOSPITAL ~

~ Matt's P.O.V. ~

I had just finished talking with Caroline's mom when doctors and nurses came rolling a person into the nearby room. I managed to get a look at who it was, and I was shocked to see Harmony.

"Harmony?!" I yelled.

Caroline's mom looked at me before letting me know she was going to ask what was wrong. I sat down next to Tyler with my head in my hands. I can't believe this is happening. Before she left, she turned to Tyler and told him that something happened to his dad and to call his mom.

~ No One's P.O.V. ~

Elena couldn't find her stuff, because Katherine took it and pretended to be her. Katherine cut John's fingers off and stabbed him. Jeremy took pills and Anna's blood to become a vampire. Katherine kissed Damon. And Elena made it home to call the ambulance for John and found Jeremy unconscious.
