Chapter 25 - The Sacrifice/By the Light of the Moon

~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~

So, I found out Katherine is still alive in the tomb. I am angry at the Salvatore brothers for not killing her when they had the chance, but with what little Elijah told about why he wants my sister to help him, I can't shake the thought of Katherine telling the truth about Elena needing to be sacrificed for the curse to break.

Anyway, I had just finished changing into a pair of black leggings, a loose white sleeveless blouse, a beige cardigan, and black boots. I felt lazy, so I tied my hair into a messy bun and had no makeup. I grabbed my saxophone case and backpack before heading down the stairs, where I heard Elena talking to the Salvatore brothers.

"You don't believe her, do you?" I heard Elena say.

"Of course not. We just want the moonstone," Damon said.

I sighed knowing that anything to do with Katherine would end being a bad idea, so I walked past the kitchen to meet up with Tyler at his house. I had to let him know what happened to his Uncle Mason. Even if he didn't believe me, I had to tell him.

I made it to his house, and the two of us were eating breakfast. His mother had left us to go to work, so it was quiet before I spoke up.

"Hey, Tyler. I have something to say to you. I should have told you earlier, but I didn't know how to," I said.

"What is it?" Tyler said with his eyebrows raised.

I stayed quiet.

"Ok, now you're freaking me out. Just tell me," Tyler said.

"I know what happened to Mason," I said slowly.

"I do too. He went back to Florida," Tyler said, making me shake my head.

"No. He's not... He's dead, Tyler," I told him.

Tyler's eyes widened before he began to shake his head in denial.

"No, no he can't be," Tyler said to himself before he rushed to me. He pinned me against the wall. "How could you know this? Did you kill him?!" He asked me.

"Of course not! But I know who did," I said wincing as his grip on my arms tightened.

"Who?! WHO DID IT!?" Tyler yelled at my face.

"It was Damon. Damon Salvatore," I said.

Tyler released his hold on my arms and stepped back.

"The same Damon that's close to my mom?" Tyler asked.

I nodded my head.

"He's a vampire. Werewolves and vampires are natural enemies," I said.

Tyler stayed quiet looking away from me.

"Please say something," I said.

"How long have you known?" Tyler asked.

"The night of the day we were setting up for the mascarade ball," I said, "I'm sorry. I couldn't stop it."

Tyler looked at me with suspicion.

"You were there?" Tyler asked.

"Yes and no," I said.

"It's a simple yes or no question," Tyler said.

"I was at home when he died, but I saw the whole thing," I said.

"How is that possible?" Tyler said, "You're pulling my leg."

"I don't know what is happening to me, but, recently, I have been able to do things a normal person couldn't do. I brought some people back from the dead. I can heal faster than the average person, and when I saw your Uncle get killed I was there like a ghost. Mason was the only one to see and feel me. I held his hand until he took his last breath. His last words were to make sure what happened to him doesn't happen to you. The night of the massacre I couldn't find you, and I was doing a favor for your mother. I was also kidnapped along with my sister that night. I'm lucky the person decided to take me home after Stefan and Damon saved Elena and left me there. I AM NOT NORMAL TYLER!" I said to him.

Tyler was surprised that I snapped at him. Letting my words sink in, he sighed before running a hand through his hair.

"So, you know about werewolves?" Tyler asked.

"Yes. A little," I said.

"Then, you need to know that I triggered the curse, and I am scared," Tyler said his eyes filling with tears, "I thought Mason could help me, but he's gone and I don't know what to do."

As he cried, I slowly walked up to him and brought my arms around his waist. Tyler tensed before wrapping his arms around me. We stayed like that for a little bit before we broke apart.

"We should he to school," I said.

Tyler nodded and the two of us went to his car. We buckled in and before we headed for school, Tyler looked at me and said, "Thank you for telling me."

"You needed to know, and I made a promise to Mason," I told him, "You won't go through this alone. Just don't tell anyone that I know what happened to Mason. That will create a lot of drama that you don't need. "

Tyler nodded and the two of us were off. When we made it to school we separated to find our friends.

~ Tyler's P.O.V. ~

Caroline wanted to help me with my transformation, and wouldn't take no for an answer so I took her to the old Lockwood property. She seemed to know something, but I pushed it aside for now. She told me her secret and wants to help, so I'll let it be for now.

"I'm guessing this is where Mason was heading the night he turned," I said as we went through the place.

"Did Mason tell you about this place?" Caroline asked.

"Mason bolted before I triggered the curse," I said, lying since I know he's really dead, "But I found these."

I flashed my light at the wall where there were scratch marks, chains, and bolts.

"They look old," Caroline stated.

"I need new chains, but the bolts will still hold," I said, "I think that's what this place is used for. Full moons."

"What's this?" Caroline said finding a notebook covered in cloth.

"I have no idea," I said walking up to her.

"Was it Mason's?" Caroline said as she passed me the notebook.

I began reading it out loud and realized that it was Mason's notebook. I then found a USB in the notebook. I am scared to know what's in it. We went to Caroline's house to see what was in it. It was a recording of Mason changing. It was so horrible. All the hours of him in pain. I can't go through that. I don't think anyone can help me. So, I asked Caroline why she wanted to help me. She told me she wanted to help me because she was alone when she turned and ended up killing somebody. She says that she doesn't want that for me. I feel like I can trust her. I want to, and I will. However, I will also be keeping the suspicion that she knows something in the back of my mind. Matt came by and got the wrong idea. I knew that I had to try and fix that, but right now I am still freaking out about the video.

~ By the Light of the Moon ~

I knew it was pointless, but I had to at least hear Mason's voice. Even if it was from his voicemail.

"Hey, it's Mason. Leave a message," The voicemail said.

"Hey, Mason. It's Tyler. I know that you aren't here right now, but I had to hear your voice. It's a full moon tomorrow, and I'm really freaking out. A friend of mine told me what happened to you, and she's a really good friend. She's nice to everyone, and even with all the stuff I have done to her she still wants to help me. She's keeping the promise she made to you. I don't know how, but she said she will. Anyway, I just wished you were here. Bye," I said with a shaky voice.

I then texted Caroline and Harmony to eat lunch with me at the Grill tomorrow.

Little did I know, was that there was someone hearing the voicemail.

~ NEXT MORNING ~

I was going to leave early when my mom saw me.

"Heading out?" She asked.

"Yeah. Lunch at the Grill, with Caroline and Harmony. Then, I've got practice, and probably go out after. I'll be home late," I said.

Just then, the doorbell rang. I opened it to see a pretty woman.

"Hi," the woman said.

"Hi," I replied.

"Sorry. Rude. You have no idea who I am. I'm Jules. A friend of Mason's from Florida," The woman is now known as Jules said, "You must be Tyler?"

"Yeah," I said shaking her hand, "Nice to meet you."

"So, I know it's weird for me to just stop by, but I'm trying to track down Mason," Jules said.

"Mason is back in Florida. He has been for a while now," My mom said.

"See, uh. That's the thing. He's not," Jules said.

I couldn't believe this was happening right now. I need to tell Harmony and Caroline.

~ AT THE GRILL ~

~ Harmony's P.O.V. ~

I was at the Grill, eating next to Caroline, who was shocked that I knew Tyler was a werewolf. Tyler soon came and told us how a woman is looking for Mason and knows he didn't make it back to Florida. A paid for my order and the three of us left the Grill. We made it to the old Lockwood property, and I helped Tyler take the things out from the trunk. Caroline and Tyler were talking about the woman looking for Mason.

"I'm sure he's okay," Caroline said making me narrow her eyes at her. Lucky for me, she didn't notice.

"Yeah," Tyler said sighing before looking at the both of us, "Let's do this."

Tyler and I were setting up the chains, as Caroline was mixing the wolfsbane in a water bottle.

"Hey, Tyler. How are you doing?" Caroline asked.

"Still human," Tyler replied.

I stayed quiet, as I watched the two interact. I had to look away when Tyler was taking off his clothes to change into elastic shorts. I stayed for the rest of the day with them and stayed with them as Tyler began his transformation. I started to cry as Tyler was crying from the pain. There may be nothing we can do for him, but be there. I looked at Caroline.

"Caroline, hold onto him. We have to let him know we are here," I said and the two of us knelt down and held Tyler. I began whispering to him, "Let it happen. Let it happen. Think of it this way, you fighting it will make it worse for you. Just let go. Let it happen. We will be right here for you."

As time went by, Tyler's eyes changed and the wolf started to come out. Tyler's wolf side tried to attack us. Caroline pulled me out of the cellar and closed the door whispering apologies. When she released me, I went back inside.

"Harmony don't!" Caroline yelled but it was too late. I was inside.

Just seeing the transformation was horrible, but I felt like I owed it to Mason to be here witnessing Tyler's change. Tyler did break out and was about to attack me when Caroline pulled me away and closed the door on Tyler. We had to hold onto the metal door to keep him inside. When we realized that he could break the door, Caroline grabbed me and sped away from the property.

~ TIME SKIP ~

After what seemed like hours, Caroline and I went back to check on Tyler. We found him naked in a fetal position.

"Tyler," Caroline said as we ran to him, "You did it. You didn't get out. You're okay."

"No I'm not," Tyler said crying, "I'm not okay."

"You will be," I said placing a blanket on him. I then touched his shoulder. "I'll find a way," I said.
