Rising Storms
A Harry Potter and Percy Jackson crossover
Part 2
Chapter 3:
Harry
As the sun set over Hogwarts Castle, Harry Potter stood tall among his peers, adorned in his Slytherin robes, a testament to his years of dedication and perseverance. The Great Hall buzzed with excitement as students, teachers, and families gathered to celebrate another year's end and bid farewell to the graduating class.
There was a hint of solemn remembrance of their old headmaster and Hermione Granger. The loss of the two during the war was still felt by many, but it was overshadowed by the current festivities.
Harry's accomplishments were many, and as he received his diploma, a sense of pride washed over him. Slytherin Prefect, Head Boy, Quidditch Seeker, and recipient of twelve O.W.L.S. and seven N.E.W.T.S., he had left his mark on Hogwarts in more ways than one.
James, Sirius, Remus, and Regulus cheered and clapped for Harry and the other graduates. But amidst the cheers and applause of the crowd, Harry's mind wandered to the mysteries that lay beyond the walls of the castle. He had always felt a connection to something greater, something beyond the realm of wizards and witches. And now, with graduation behind him, he was determined to uncover the truth about his godly ancestry.
After graduating, Harry made his way to the Potter Manor's library, where rows upon rows of books awaited him. With a flick of his wand, he summoned volumes on mythology, eager to delve into the legends of the ancient gods.
As he pored over the pages, Harry's thoughts drifted to Thanatos, the god of death, his father's divine ancestor. What powers did he possess? What secrets lay hidden in his realm? Harry was determined to find out.
In the oldest of the books, Harry found out the powers he could possibly have: As a descendant of Thanatos, the Greek god of death, Harry has a natural affinity for death-related magic. This includes the ability to communicate with spirits, manipulate necromantic energies, and potentially control aspects of the afterlife. Harry smiled at finally finding the answers to one of his questions.
But amidst his research, Harry found solace in the company of his family's portraits. His mother's gentle smile offered comfort in moments of doubt, while his grandparents shared tales of their own magical adventures, sparking Harry's curiosity even further.
In between his studies, Harry made time for romance, taking Daphne and Susan on dates under the starlit sky. Their laughter filled the air as they wandered the grounds of Potter Manor, lost in each other's company.
Yet amidst the joys of love and learning, Harry's father had other plans. James Potter had arranged betrothal contracts with both Daphne and Susan's families, eager to secure alliances for the future.
Caught between duty and desire, Harry wrestled with his feelings, unsure of where his heart truly lay. He wanted to get married one day, but he also had to decide whether or not to accept the offer from Hades. But as the days turned into weeks, and graduation faded into memory, Harry knew that the journey ahead would be one of discovery, both of himself and of his legacy as a descendant of gods.
The day arrived where James and Harry flooed over to the Greengrass residence. They were both wearing their finest robes, house rings on their fingers, and their hair neatly pulled back. James had even grown his hair out for these visits. James greeted the Lord and Lady of the Greengrass household and Harry smiled at Daphne, who blushed and smiled back.
In a lavish drawing room adorned with elegant furnishings and flickering candlelight, James Potter sat across from Mr. and Mrs. Greengrass, the esteemed parents of Daphne. The air was thick with anticipation as they discussed the intricacies of the betrothal contract between their families.
James, dressed in impeccable robes befitting his stature as a respected wizard, exuded confidence as he outlined the terms of the agreement. His voice was measured yet persuasive, each word carefully chosen to convey the gravity of their proposal.
The Greengrass parents, equally poised and dignified, listened intently as James detailed the benefits of a union between their families. With the Potter name carrying weight in the wizarding world, and the Greengrasses renowned for their wealth and influence, the match seemed destined for success.
"This seems more like an engagement contract than a betrothal contract," Harry said, sitting across from Daphne as they drank tea and watched their parents.
"Agreed," came her soft voice.
"Are you mad about us only having a couple of months before we get married?" Harry asked worriedly.
"Not at all."
As the negotiations progressed, the terms of the betrothal contract began to take shape. It stipulated that Harry Potter and Daphne Greengrass would be wed before September, with provisions for multiple spouses, in accordance with wizarding tradition.
The contract also outlined financial arrangements, including dowries and inheritance rights, designed to ensure the prosperity and security of both families. Each clause was scrutinized and debated, with James and the Greengrass parents striving to reach a mutually beneficial agreement.
After hours of discussion, the final terms were agreed upon, and the contract was signed and sealed with a flourish of wands. With a sense of satisfaction, James and the Greengrass parents exchanged cordial farewells, confident in the bonds that had been forged between their families.
As James and Harry departed the Greengrass estate, they sighed in relief. The betrothal contract was not merely a business arrangement; it was a promise of alliance and prosperity for generations to come.
A few days later, Harry sat at his desk, parchment spread out before him, quill in hand. He meticulously lined up the months and years, trying to create a cohesive timeline that merged his world with Percy's.
"May 1997," Harry muttered to himself, jotting down key events from his own world. The Battle of Hogwarts, Voldemort's defeat, and the rebuilding of the wizarding community filled the page.
Beside it, he wrote, "August 2009," marking Percy's world's events. The Battle of Manhattan, the defeat of Kronos, and the rebuilding of Camp Half-Blood followed suit.
As he worked, Harry found himself marveling at the synchronicity of it all. Despite being in different dimensions, their worlds seemed to move in parallel, each facing its own challenges and triumphs at the same time.
"It's like we're connected," Harry murmured, a sense of wonder filling him. He traced his finger along the lines, where May and August intersected, feeling a strange kinship with Percy and his friends.
With each stroke of his quill, Harry felt the gap between their worlds closing, the boundaries blurring until they were no longer separate but intertwined, sharing in each other's victories and losses.
And as he looked at the finished timeline, Harry couldn't help but feel a sense of hope. For if their worlds could align in such a way, perhaps there was a chance for them to come together once more, united in purpose and friendship.
He would have to see if it was still possible for him to use the Potter artifact to go back to Percy's world and see how his new friends were doing. First, he had to get through his weddings... 'Thanks, dad,' Harry thought. Man, he was going to be married at eighteen! Even his parents had been married around this age, having him at around twenty!
Over the next few weeks, around the planning of the wedding to Daphne, Harry searched for more information on his ancestors. Eros was the first one he found next. As a descendant of Eros, the Greek god of love and desire, Harry may possess enhanced charm and charisma, as well as the ability to influence emotions and create feelings of love or desire in others.
As a legacy of Nemesis, the Greek goddess of balance and retribution, Harry might possess abilities related to justice and balancing scales. This could include the power to mete out justice or restore balance to chaotic situations.
Through his lineage from Hades, the Greek god of the underworld, Harry possesses powers associated with death, darkness, and the underworld. These abilities may include shadow manipulation, the ability to command the dead, and control over spirits and shades.
And, being descended from Tyche, the Greek goddess of luck and fortune, Harry may have heightened luck or fortune manipulation abilities. This could manifest as a knack for turning situations to his advantage or influencing probability in his favor.
Harry sat back after his research, in awe at the possibilities. He had to sit and think on this before he could do anything about it. But, what could he do about this, anyway? Ugh, his head was spinning with all of this new information.
In a cozy sitting room adorned with bookshelves and comfortable armchairs, Harry Potter and Susan Bones sat side by side, accompanied by their guardians, James Potter and Amelia Bones-Weasley, respectively. The atmosphere was warm and familial as they gathered to discuss the betrothal between Harry and Susan.
James took the lead in the negotiations, while Amelia, with her characteristic poise and wisdom, provided counsel and support to her niece, Susan. Together, they navigated the delicate intricacies of the betrothal agreement, ensuring that the union would be a harmonious and mutually beneficial one.
As the discussion unfolded, James and Amelia outlined the terms of the contract, which stipulated that Harry and Susan would be wed by the end of February, marking the beginning of their life together as husband and wife. The timeline was ambitious but agreed upon unanimously, reflecting the mutual commitment and affection between the young couple.
Financial arrangements were also addressed, with provisions made for dowries, inheritances, and other practical matters designed to secure the future prosperity of both families. Each clause was carefully considered and negotiated, with James and Amelia advocating for the best interests of their respective wards.
Despite the gravity of the occasion, there was an underlying sense of joy and anticipation in the room, as Harry and Susan exchanged glances filled with affection and hope for the future. Their guardians, too, shared in their excitement, recognizing the significance of the moment and the bonds that were being forged between their families.
As the negotiations progressed, James Potter ensured to address the existing betrothal contract between Harry and Daphne Greengrass. With a clause allowing for multiple spouses, the agreement with Daphne was incorporated seamlessly into the discussions, affirming Harry's commitment to honor both betrothals simultaneously.
James and Amelia navigated this delicate matter with tact and diplomacy, ensuring that all parties involved understood and respected the terms of the existing arrangement. The inclusion of Daphne's contract underscored Harry's commitment to fulfilling his obligations to both prospective spouses.
With the terms of the betrothal agreement finalized and the contract duly signed and sealed, James and Amelia extended warm congratulations to Harry and Susan, welcoming them into the next chapter of their lives with open arms. As they left the meeting, there was a sense of optimism and unity, knowing that the future held great promise for the young couple and their families.
