Chapter 84: Imperfect
CatNap meanwhile was running on his way back to his apartment to meet with DogDay again to try and fix their relationship.
"I gotta do what Trey told me to do." He said in his head, "To keep things easy…"
CatNap stopped midway and started to breathe heavily while his eyes were closed. He had no idea what he was exhaling, but it seemed like a red gassy substance of some sort. When he stopped breathing, the red substance was gone while he was breathing normally. He opened his eyes and sighed.
"Ok, maybe I shouldn't have run forcefully…" He said,
"CatNap?" A familiar voice said to him,
CatNap turned to see CraftyCorn.
"Crafty?" He said to her, "What brings you here?"
"I should be asking you the same thing." CraftyCorn replied, "Are you gonna… Try and make amends with DogDay?"
"I'm gonna try… I had my time away, which only lasted a day, but I've learned a lot during that day… I hope… But… Nevermind that, I've heard from Bubba that you had a fall out with him and you were with your mother, huh?"
"Yeah. I am calm now… My mother told me that everything would be ok and that I need to separate myself until I or DogDay are ready to make amends…"
"That's good."
"Anyways, now that I'm here…"
CraftyCorn put her hooves together.
"...I am sending my best wishes to you two." She said as she prayed, "I hope everything is resolved so that we can go back to having normal lives together…"
CatNap smiled.
"...Thanks, lil' sis." He said,
CraftyCorn giggled.
"You didn't forget it, did you?" She said,
"No, not at all." CatNap said, "Anyways, duty calls."
Both nodded as CatNap went his way. CraftyCorn then took a deep breath.
"Good luck, big bro…" She said as she walked away while praying for the drama between her closest best friends to resolve,
Later, CatNap was running again as he made it outside his apartment. He opened the door and ran up the stairs to where the doors to his apartment room would be at, at the 2nd floor, to be exact. When he arrived, he saw DogDay, sitting on the floor and outside of their apartment. The two looked at each other without any emotion. CatNap sighed softly as he went over and sat next to DogDay. DogDay looked at the ceiling before starting things off.
"Do you know what my dad told me as a kid?" He asked CatNap, "He told me that not everything has to be perfect, which also includes me… I guess I can't always be this… happy and always in full spirit friend you wanted me to be…"
CatNap was still silent as he was listening.
"...I never would have thought that I have these fuck-ups that I never knew of…" DogDay said as he was about to cry, "And even then, I didn't hurt anyone but those that I inflicted pain upon… Not just Baba, but… you guys…"
DogDay started to shed some tears.
"Shit…" CatNap said as he sniffed, "I can't hold back."
CatNap went to hug DogDay as DogDay hugged him first.
"I'm so… so… sorry…" DogDay said to him, softly, "I'm a fucking idiot…"
"There it is…" CatNap said as he shedded a tear, "There's the imperfect in you… You're finally letting it out. …And about time too."
DogDay chuckled as he sniffed again.
"Yeah…" He said,
"And word of advice, don't do anything like that again, ok?" CatNap said as he sniffed,
"I won't…."
"Promise?"
CatNap playfully punched DogDay's left shoulder.
"Ow!" DogDay said as he chuckled a bit, "I promise…"
"Good." CatNap said,
The two then looked away in silence before one could start to say something else.
"Can I tell you something?" CatNap asked him,
"Yeah?" DogDay wondered, softly,
"First off… I accept your apology. I forgot to tell you that"
"Thanks, and no worries…"
"Secondly… I think I know what caused you to act this way. It's not really a bold prediction of mine, but… I think someone was toying with you, emotionally and mentally. No, it's not your mom this time, but… I think someone connected to the double kidnappings and the murder at Sunshine Valley might also be behind your behavior."
DogDay was confused as he wiped the tears from his eyes and face.
"What?" He asked him, "Don't go making a random prediction like I had… I mean, then again, I did point fingers at someone we know, but you're making this anonymous."
"...True, but…" CatNap said, "I think you should trust me on this one. I can get Baba and we can try and make amends between you two…"
DogDay looked down in sorrow.
"Oh, shit, sorry…" CatNap said,
"...Can we call her?" DogDay asked him, "I wanna tell her I'm sorry for what I've done to her."
"She probably won't accept your apology right away since it's been years… But… It's worth a try, since you're finally feeling remorseful over what you did to her…"
CatNap got out his phone and started to call Baba. He and DogDay waited for a few seconds until a message went off.
"Sorry, if ya reach this number, then I'm probably out busy." Baba's voice message said, "Please leave a message and I might get back to ya."
CatNap and DogDay were confused.
"The fuck?" CatNap wondered as he turned to DogDay, "This is my first time calling her, by the way."
"Oh…" DogDay said, "Can you try calling her again?"
"Might as well."
CatNap tried again and attempted to call Baba again. It went through, but something will throw them off.
"Hi, this is Baba's phone you're talking to, but you ain't talking to Baba Chops!" Simon's voice shouted from the phone, surprising CatNap and DogDay, "You're talking to Simon Smoke!"
DogDay gasped.
"Wait, that's one of the four critters kidnapped twice!" He shouted,
DogDay looked at CatNap who was slowly getting angry.
"Uh-oh…" DogDay said,
CatNap put his phone on speaker.
"Where is she?" He asked Simon in a pissy mood, "What did you do to my girlfriend?"
"Oh!" Simon said, shocked, "You're dating that bitch huh?! Alright, don't worry about me! I've already sent one of my buddies out to take ya one!"
"Don't escape my question!"
CatNap was breathing heavily in anger.
"Where… Is she?!" He shouted on the phone, "Tell me!"
Simon chuckled.
"You're gonna have to encounter one of my friends first." He replied, "Goodbye!"
The call ended as Simon hung up. CatNap got up and was still breathing heavily. His fists were shaking and DogDay noticed that CatNap exhaled red smoke. He was confused, but didn't want to get in his way.
"Come on." CatNap said as he turned to DogDay, "I got a bone to pick with this friend of his…"
"Ummm…" DogDay said, confused, "When did you and Baba start dating?"
"I'll explain later! Just get up and come along!"
"Ok! Ok!"
As DogDay got up, he scratched the back of his head as he was now worried.
"CatNap, are you ok?" He wondered, "Something else is going on here…"
